Kelly lives in Nashville, Tennessee, and serves the Lord passionately both across the U.S. and internationally in a variety of creative roles. An acclaimed author, musician, Bible study creator and teacher, she is passionate to see women impacted by Jesus and His Word.
Growing up outside of Washington, DC, Kelly was raised in a Christian home, the oldest of four children and daughter of a pastor. Her childhood was seasoned with competitive sports, learning the guitar, singing, and a litany of church activities in the congregation her father founded and still pastors. Like many young women, Kelly dealt with inner struggles – anxiety and depression were a part of her growing-up years. “Those struggles are what drove me to Scripture,” Kelly says, “and the catalyst for me to learn for myself who God is.” Throughout her high school career, Kelly played basketball competitively, expecting that to be her path into college. But after a scholarship fell through, she began playing music. And God began a new thing.
Kelly moved to Nashville in the summer of 2000 and released her first record with WORD, followed by a subsequent release on a different label, leading to her first #1 Single on the Inspirational Charts, This Is My Offering. Shortly after this success and several cross-country tours her record company folded leaving Kelly to rethink her vocation and ministry. In the middle of an ever-changing music industry and on a tour through Colorado, Kelly met a book publisher who would two years later sign her to her first book deal.
Kelly’s first book eventually led to LifeWay approaching her about writing a bible study. Authoring curriculum was a new challenge, but one she quickly fell in love with. Kelly’s first three studies include, No Other Gods: Confronting Our Modern Day Idols, followed by Ruth: Loss, Love & Legacy and Nehemiah: A Heart That Can Break. Respected Bible Study teacher and speaker, Beth Moore, chose each of Kelly’s resources for three of her widely-reaching online summer studies. Thousands of women participated and were challenged by Kelly’s writing and her unique perspective on Scripture.
Kelly now writes, teaches, and sings across the United States and also in other countries. Speaking at multiple conferences and events, as well as four Women of Faith events in 2012, Kelly has become a steady and respected teaching voice to women, particularly when it comes to the Scriptures. She also partners closely with Justice and Mercy International (JMI), a ministry that serves in the Amazon jungle; she especially loves working with the jungle pastors who encourage her through their remarkable faith.
When home, Kelly’s days are spent writing, cooking, gardening, enjoying her neighborhood, loving her community, investing in her local church, and walking forward in the things God has for her. She is relevant, palatable, and uncompromising in her teachings from the Bible, and women relate to this.
What relevance does an ancient story from Genesis have for today's contemporary COVID-19 crisis? Everything, according to Bible speaker, teacher and author Kelly Minter! Joseph is the protagonist of a rags to riches story braided with three themes: 1: People who fail you can’t prevent God‘s plan for your life 2: The Lord is with you. 3: The God of promise is even better than the land of promise.
By faith Joseph continued to follow God despite being sold into slavery in Egypt. By faith, he obeyed God and didn’t sleep with Potiphar’s wife. By faith, he served God while in prison. By faith, he stockpiled grain for seven plentiful years in light of God‘s promise of famine. By faith, he gave his two sons Hebrew names, despite having long been living in Egypt. By faith, he forgave his brothers.
Faith is based not on our experiences but on God‘s promises. Faith is not blind; its eyes are fixed on the God who is always with us, who will never leave us, and who buries our bones in His promises and transforms our graves into gardens!
I have enjoyed many of Lifeway’s Bible studies, both at church and on my own. I was eager to purchase Finding God Faithful because it’s all about Joseph, my favorite person in the Bible. I purchased my own copy of Finding God Faithful from Lifeway.
Another great devotion by Kelly Minter - I’ve done all but one of hers and they never disappoint. This one especially felt perfect to read in the insanity that is 2020.
This was such a good study. I really enjoyed a closer look at Joseph's story and digging into how God worked through it all and applying the promises and ideas to my personal life.
Excellent excellent bible study!!! I love her teaching style, the depth the study went into the scriptures. I feel like I KNOW Joseph now. And understand some of the family dynamics that created a culture where his brothers could be so brutal. I also understand family patterns, generational patterns and how they can unjustly harm the innocent. Great study!
I really love Kelly Minter's Bible studies! While this took me a while to get through due to personal circumstances, this has been an excellent study about one of my favorite Bible characters--Joseph. Two of my favorite truths from the study has been that God is "preparing us for what He's prepared for us" and "God will not waste your pain. In fact, God specializes in sowing seeds into the soil of our hardship, seeds that bring forth prolific life and bear fruit in season." Highly recommend this study!
What an impactful study, maybe the most impactful of all of Kelly Minter's Bible studies I've done so far. It really was amazing to dig deep into Joseph's story, but what actually meant the most to me was God's faithfulness and kindness toward the brothers, especially Judah. If He can stay right by Judah's side and work on his heart and eventually bring the Christ from his line...dang, He can still stay and work with my heart too, right? Loved this. Highly recommend.
Completely loved this. A study on Joseph and that amazing, technicolor dreamcoat that folds in all sorts of things on family drama, forgiveness, and ultimately - best of all - the faithfulness of God. 10/10 - find a pal or several gals and dive in. I have truly loved this one.
This is an excellent Bible study! I always love Kelly’s studies and this is another one I have enjoyed. She is funny, engaging, and an excellent teacher. You can just feel her love for people, God, and His Word! I love how she pulls New Testament sources into most of the daily ´homework’. I also loved the flannel graph in her videos :), a great blast from the past. My biggest takeaway was forgiveness — if Joseph can forgive his brothers then I surely can forgive those in my life. P.S. I can’t wait to try her Shrimp and Grits recipe :)
This is the first study I have ever completed by Kelly Minter and I LOVED IT! I loved the way she writes. I loved her heart. I loved her insights from Scripture. And I loved the teaching videos that went along with the study. Kelly's humility and love for God's Word are evident and I will definitely do another Bible study of hers in the future.
I highly recommend this study on the life of Joseph!
I'm so thankful for Kelly and for her approachable way of teaching that really packs a punch. This study on Joseph's life and the truth of God's faithfulness. A timely reminder that God's promises will always be kept and that even when we cannot see how God can use our current circumstances for good; He is faithful to turn what was meant for evil into good.
So glad to have read this book! I took my time and really enjoyed digging deeper into the life of Joseph. A story I've read many times, but Kelly helped me to focus on how my life aligns with God's word. She is very knowledgeable and makes an old story feel fresh and relevant. I recommend it to anyone for any reason. 5 stars!
What a beautifully laid out study. This study digs deep and provides nite size chunks of scripture and stories to really help connect the dots of God’s goodness. Now I just need to try some of these recipes.
This is the second study I’ve done by Kelly Minter. She is extremely gifted in writing and teaching. I encourage everyone to do one of her studies for furthering biblical knowledge and relationship with God!
Fantastic bible study! Lifeway was awesome to offer her video sessions for free during the pandemic. Did this study with some good friends and it helped keep us connected and in His word. Highly recommend!
I love the story of Joseph! This is an excellent study for anyone needing to remember that God is Sovereign, and that He is faithful, and that He is always with you (even in the most difficult of circumstances).
I've done Minter's studies before and enjoyed them. However, I didn't find this one all that enlightening. The story of Joseph is quite well known and there wasn't really any new insights here. However, I still enjoyed revisiting it.
What a deep, meaningful study into the life of Joseph. Kelly Minter peels away the layers of the story and really digs in to find the good fruit. Fruitful blessings that are relevant to all of our lives in this very moment.
Kelly Minter is one of the few Lifeway Bible study author’s I will still read. I always gain insight in her studies and this study on the life of Joseph did not disappoint.
Kelly Minter's deep dive into Joseph's story brings this ancient tale into our lives today. This is second Bible study I have completed which this author created. I look forward to doing more.
