The debut book of the hot new military science fiction series, Joint Task Force 13.
There is a thin wall between our world and that of the Fae and, during times of war, it is easily stepped through. The passions and emotions stirred by violence and combat bleed over, and the supernatural often awake from long slumber to meddle in mortal affairs. Then also, there are the humans who purposely force that wall down seeking glory and power. Either way, there have always been those among us who have been willing to meet the supernatural threat with cold steel, burning hearts and grim determination. In modern America, they are the men and women of Joint Task Force 13, those who have proven they have the metal to confront soul blasting otherness on the battlefield. This unit, this organization, though, has been intertwined with our country since its birth. The name changes, but they are always there, ready to answer the call. JTF 13 is a military version of supernatural as much as it can be when written to be accurate as how the actual military would deal with demons. This anthology introduces the reader to the organization, not just one team. Throughout history the Marines have not only protected America from all enemies foreign and domestic but from other hellish planes. Demons are real and they seek to do more than disrupt democracy. In this first installment we learn of the birth of the JTF 13 during the Revolutionary War. Demons must be found and defeated around the world and not just demons but supernatural creatures for all mythology. I like the style of each story from each different author. My favorite was Redeye and the twist on the undead. I enjoy how each story is a snippet as if we get to see some of the adventures the JTF has faced in every war America has faced and how the team of soldiers are trained to face down the supernatural. I am looking forward to the next installment. Many of the stories are of soldiers who face down the supernatural and survive only to join the JTF and for several I hope to see in future adventures.
There many anthologies that based there stories on an already built story universe either from a book series, movies,or video games. Then we get 3 Ravens who turns the paradigm of narrative origin building with this multi-story narrative of different points in a world were a secret US Task Force and it’s different editions of 200 years from it’s founding during the American Revolutionary War.
The closest similar idea where different authors work to create the story worlds history would Cosmic Horror stories by H.P. Lovecraft and how he would let different author set stories in his Cuthula Mytho and create inter gods and monsters into the world lore and become the bases for a complete mythology of storytelling that authors have used to create background for there worlds like the Joe Ledger series by Jonathan Maberry.
This anthology has all the pieces to become bigger then it’s will has the title says origins.
...even when the enemy is myth come to life. Herein are the tales of soldiers who came face to face with evil, magic, and myth, and still held to their oath and soldiers creed. When things go bump in the night soldiers are the ones you want bumping back. The group of authors telling these fantastic tales know fighting men and a lot about the dark scary things that make minds gibber in fear. These soldiers make the Ghostbusters seem like tiny marshmallows.
These short stories all involve battles of the JTF 13, fighting various supernatural foes. The timeframes are from the Revolutionary War to Afghanistan. The various foes are from many different gendre. Lots of blood and guts. Don't read if you have a weak stomach. Highly recommended.

Who do you call? Ghost busters? Why you send in the Marines! And when the Marines need help, you mix in a few of the other services. Great book to read. A new genere of of writing, Military Horror. Not really SiFi but anything new. These authors are starting out with a BANG. get into reading this new style of books.
Very interesting set of stories, merging a lot of different genera Fae, Demons, Necromancers with the US military having a special force to handle them for the beginning or the creation of the USA.
