Each of the well-written novels that make up this boxset is a standalone and comes to a positive and romantic conclusion.
Write Me Home: Unknown to them, Cassidy and Ethan's lives have interconnected briefly since childhood. The pain carried by Cassidy, Ti, and Ethan is almost too much to bear. They have all adjusted to life the best way they know how, but with it comes the quirks of behaviour prevalent amongst survivors. They each have walls guarding their hearts and they are all intensely private. The task of getting Cassidy's inheritance up and running joins them in a mutual endeavour that builds friendship and eventually blossoms into love between Cassidy and Ethan. On a fateful night, when it would appear that things can't get worse, they do. Truths are revealed and hearts break further, causing everyone to take another step back. The question is whether Cassidy and Ethan can ever come back from the precipice and whether there is hope for them in the future.
Begin Again: When Ti descended on Ocracoke, Drew was completely unprepared for the whirlwind that was about to invade his life. A highly entertaining book, well written, with humour, romance, and an underlying threat. The witty dialogue kept me laughing all the way through and I found Ti's quirky personality a delight. My heart went out to the broken Drew and I could identify with the struggles he was dealing with. The supporting characters are also a delight and Maddie is especially huggable. Some very real issues are dealt with in this book and it brings out the truth that everyone is redeemable and there is hope for even the most broken person.
Just Maybe: I laughed and I cried, and then I laughed until I cried! This book is one of the most entertaining stories I’ve read for a while, and I read a lot. Just Maybe is well written with a fairly complex storyline, but the wires never get crossed and despite the three-week deadline both Cooper and Quinn have hanging over their heads with the multitude of problems facing them, there is never any confusion. This is also one of those books where the reader is drawn into the story and you feel as if you are in the middle of all the chaos. I loved Cooper’s cheeky charm, and despite his dread of publicity, when Quinn needed support, he was right there with her. Quinn is hilarious, but it is a quirkiness that is borne out of pain. Her crazy family and compulsions make her a woman we can all identify with. Her family at first seem like the relatives from hell, but underneath it all, they are good people who care deeply for one another. Baby Brayden has his own role in the book and is the reason for it taking on a life of its own, but he is as cute as a button and draws everyone together.
Chasing Someday: A gentle, feel-good, romance that touches the heart, this book is funny, sad, and hopeful. Livy carries the weight of the past on her shoulders and it takes Chase's unconditional friendship to breach her reserves. Not believing herself worthy of love, Livy both longs for and fears getting close to anyone. The story is well-written, clean, and carries a message that we all need to hear at some time in our lives.
I previously purchased and reviewed all of the books in this boxset and this is my honest and voluntary review
