The invasion has begun. On the capital world of Vassar-1, the Allied Independent Colonies find themselves in a race against time to stop a terrorist plot that could bring chaos to the galaxy.
As the terror spreads, Earth provides nothing but deception and subterfuge.
With time running out, it's up to Ben and Ada to deliver an AIC agent with vital information.
But not everything is what it seems.
Final Invasion is the third book in the Oblivion series, a high-octane, action-packed blast that will leave military science fiction fans hungry for more!
Ben Saito is searching for his father, Admiral Lee Saito, and the rest of his ship, the Atlas
The Atlas and the tenders of the super dreadnought were mere fragments floating in the space where the meeting between Admiral Saito and the AIC leaders was to have taken place. Instead they were met with the shapeless aliens posing as AIC. The shapeless quickly destroyed the Atlas and the UEF fleet. The top third of the dreadnought Atlas, carrying the UEF crew and Admiral Saito, broke loose from the destroyed bottom portion and immediately jumped with no destination set. Fortunately (!?), they came out of jump in the vicinity of Sanctuary Station 33. The shapeless followed and Hell arrived. Ben and his crew aboard the destroyer class Lost followed the radiation leaked from the remains of the Atlas to Sanctuary Station 33 and quickly found weapons that were effective against the shapeless aliens and fought back. Great characters and a storyline with tons of punch made this a good read!
I requested and received a free review copy of this book and am providing an unbiased review. In this story, two empires battle for control of a single empire. From the depths of space, a new religion, the Oblivion, appears. Believers proselytize from soapboxes or individually. The two empires discover that the Oblivion is the greater threat, and will lead to the destruction of humanity.
Third book of the series, and I do like the theme. We're learning more about the 'war' between earth forces and their colonies. Spoiler : There are cultists on both worlds who have been warning/expecting 'something'. We know learn that they may have been coordinating with an alien species that seems to want to pit the earth and colonies against each other and take over the bodies of the people.
It's a short story. again, having said that it's a good story. In a normal book it would be a long paragraph. When I was young we had these radio serials that always left on a cliffhanger. Prepare to be taken back in time. I'm glad I've got nine episode's worth. Seriously, without the snide comments, I think the author should combine a few together.
Wow! This story continues to amaze and enthrall me. Ben Saito has joined with Ace and Morgan as they race toward the last known co-ordinates of the UEF Atlas and Ben's father, Lee. What they don't know until they finally get there is that Sanctuary Station 13 has been taken over by the Abyss. But is Lee alive or not? I'm not going to say. You have to read this wonderful story to find out. Thank you, Joshua James and Daniel Young, for continuing to keep me enthralled with the story.
To jumpy, you have a hard time knowing if the chapter is a flashback, sideslip or present timeline. Very slow and poor sci fi references. Should be more horror than military.
This is a very fast-paced and action-packed novel! The story is unpredictable and very well-written. It's an entertaining and absorbing read, told through different characters viewpoints that provides a vivid picture of the tale!
For the record, I received an Advanced Review Copy (ARC) of this book with the request that I leave a voluntary honest review for other potential readers. Having said that, here is my honest opinion and review of this book. I really love this series. The stories just get better and better. A few more new characters have joined the roster while some older side characters have dropped out (nothing too tramatic). Each of the principle characters are still with us so no Goerge R. R. Matin Game of Thrones actions yet (everyone is always going to remember that). This extended plot line keeps my interested while throwing in some short term objectives to keep things moving along. The pacing of the story still flows along nicely from start to finish keeping the tension high so that you are drawn in to the action. If you are not a fan of drawn out stories over multiple books, then this series is not for you. However, seeing is this is the third book so far and you are reading this, then you enjoy this type of extended space opera just as I do. All in all, this book is worth the time it takes to read it. I look forward to reading the next book in this series when it becomes available.
Received as an ARC, this is an honest review. This is the best one yet in the series with the crew of the Lost facing their darkness moments as they continue journey to Vassar-1. When they teach the world, Morgan's crazy piloting skills as they try to get to its surface is so wild; how they didn't die is beyond me. Getting on the planet is one thing but they face a world plunged into chaos by the Oblivion cult, putting everyone in danger with no guarantee of surviving. While this unfolds, Lee Saito is forced to endure his memories, whether true or not, as the Pale Man seeks knowledge he desperately tries to prevent him from getting. Awesome read. Highly recommended.
And here I thought it could not get any worse but the insanity of this series heads to Vassar-1 and its the AIC's turn to survive what is coming. It was fast paced and kept me guessing a few times as Ben ends up the unlucky hero of 2 governments. I guess its his "reward" for surviving book 2. New and old characters show up and I spent half the book guessing if they were who I thought they were. Just a well written book that is not the typical space opera style that keeps me reading to see what craziness will happen next. I like this wacky series full of action and uncertainty.
Another non-stop action addition to the Oblivion series. Fast read, taking place in a short period of time, with some questions answered, but still a lot to be explained, so it's nice the books are coming out in quick succession. I'm looking forward for the running to stop and some retaliation to happen! I received an ARC of this book, and this is my voluntary and honest review.
Gosh this felt short and again, an abrupt and unsatisfying ending, even more so this time than the previous two. I'm all for series of books, much of what I read falls into that category, but I do expect a complete story in each book. This read more like a few chapters (albeit good ones) in the middle of a book. Great writing but disappointing that the story is divided like this.
