The satisfying conclusion of the Older Boy/Younger Daddy trilogy you've been waiting on.
Declan may just be your typical Daddy. He indulges his Boy. He takes care of his Boy's family. He steps in when Owen doesn't quite know what to do. And he's committed to ensuring everyone is happy.
Owen may just be your typical Boy. He's eager to please his Daddy. He knows who to turn to in a crisis. And he knows he'll never be judged by Daddy for the ways in which he wants to explore his sensual side.
In the epic conclusion of the trilogy, Declan and Owen have reached the pinnacle of trust. With Daddy Dec proving himself in ways Owen never deemed possible, he's left with no option but to believe that together they make sense. Together they'll weather any storm because they're a unit that always takes care of each other.
Take Care of Us is the final book in the Taking Care series meant to be read in order. This 100k+ word finale is the sexy heartwarming conclusion of two men who take on not just a relationship but family.

These days she can be found writing books, hanging out with her readers, and raising her daughter as a single mother. You can keep in touch with her in the following places:
This book was all about Owen’s (grown up) kids, and Declan’s relationship with them.
Now I’m all for being open with your kids, but having Owen encounter his own son in the BDSM club where apparently Auggie was a Dom, and Owen being there as Declan’s boy…. just no… That was too much for me.
And this entire book hinted at other relationships but never really revealed anything. And then all of a sudden we get one single sentence at the end about Owen’s son being in a relationship with Declan’s father (which we of course all suspected, but still, I wanted a bit more).
It was all a bit too much for me. I could get over Declan being a 25 year old Daddy and Owen being his 47 year old boy, but add in the rest of the weird relationships like Owen’s 23 year old Dom son and Declan’s (irresponsible) father (who apparently is a sub?), I was rolling my eyes too much.
I also really disliked Owen’s daughter Summer. Who just ran away and then told Declan she needed time alone or she would run away again. And then Declan set her up in an apartment, got her therapy, and everything was apparently hunky dory again.
There was also too much sex in this. Or sex at inappropriate times (for me). I skimmed them all.
So there were parts I liked, but overall I felt this book was too much of everything.
This 3-part series has had its ups and downs for me. I liked the characters of Declan and Owen, but I hated how they, especially Owen, let Owen's adult children, especially the daughter, and in this one his ex-wife who left them 20 odd years ago and suddenly shows back up expecting all to be forgiven and mostly it is. Really??? Leave a man with 3 small children and then waltz back in with open arms??? The conflict in this one is way over the top and seems a little contrived. It was good that the entire story didn't revolve around this mess and that Owen and Declan worked around it and remained a solid couple. Owen is even going to get a dream of his recognized. Overall, I did enjoy the character development and the relationship between the two main characters.
For all the lovers of Daddy kink and Owen and Declan's story in particular, this will be a special treat. I am happy that they got the HEA they both deserved but also a little sad because it means no more Daddy Declan and his Boy Owen for me! * wails helplessly* But on the serious note, it was everything I wanted it to be! It was emotional, angsty, s*exy, romantic and at times funny. All the characters made their appearance, and some will even surprise you.
The book picks up right where the second stopped. And from then on it comes to the level of trust both Owen and Declan have in their feelings since the events become a bit hectic. Owen's bonds with his children are tested as well as his willingness to let Declan take care of his kids, since it's a very big deal for him. Declan, of course, is wonderful in any situation. I loved how he handled himself.
Both Declan and Owen are ready for new changes in their lives. They love each other deeply and prove it everyday. Let me tell you, the intimate s*exy times between them were off the charts hot! But in every one of them I could just feel how they both felt - they connected on both physical and emotional levels. And Declan couldn't have been more perfect! The care and consideration he showed Owen were freaking amazing. I loved those small gestures that one usually wouldn't even notice, but that's why they were so precious.
There are many spoilers as to where other characters will end up and with whom. Some new adventures that opened Owen's eyes more than he wanted to. But I really loved the dynamics between Declan, Owen and his kids - there was just no judgement only acceptance. It's just all together feel good kind of book with a bit of hurt/comfort and a lot of loving! I adored it and I highly recommend it! Copy received for my honest and unbiased review
3.5 stars Although I was a tiny, little bit bored in parts I thought this was a fairly solid conclusion to the series. It’s just a pity that the author put so much focus on setting up the 3 spinoff books they have planned because I felt that this one lacked that special feeling that the first two books had.
I had issues with this final book of the series. I don’t know if I’m being unreasonable or if it had something to do with me listening to the audiobook (which I don’t do often). But I had issues.
Let me explain.
The plot of the first part of the book annoyed me so damn much — I don’t think I enjoyed anything about it. I did not care about Summer and her problems (although I got where she came from). I didn’t care so I didn’t enjoy.
I am still so unsure about Declan and his role in all of this. One moment he seems kind of immature and clueless about certain things (bottoming as a daddy dom for example) and in the next moment he’s all knowing (about top drops and such). He definitely got to much attention in this book. Declan is no hero if you ask me, but this book made him look like one.
Certain elements of the story were just utterly bizarre and unfitting in my opinion. The whole thing with Owen’s kids was stupid, Charles’ “discovery” about himself didn’t make anything better in that regard and I just hated — yes, I hated — the idea of him being involved with a certain someone. Honestly, what was that all about?
Also, so much sex. Too much sex really, and I almost never say that. I was done after the third scene. Nothing new after that, even though the author tried their hardest to make the scenes interesting.
There were good moments in this book too, though. The ending was really rather sweet and the epilogue (though very short and to the point) concluded some things about a few questions I still had.
The negative stuff threw me off big time, sadly. That’s why I can’t give this book a higher rating.
I know I shouldn’t expect much from this book. I think my expectations were too high. There were plot holes that I needed filling. You’re seriously not going to expand on Master August and Charles and “their” daughter? Wtf.
Also this book was incredibly ridiculously long. It was hard to make myself finish it.
Lastly I just became super dissatisfied with Owen in this book. There were so many times where I just wanted to shake him for acting like an idiot. I don’t remember him coming across helpless or stupid in the first 2 book. I hate HATE the miscommunication trope so every time it reared it’s ugly head I was unhappy. Luckily miscommunications were resolved fairly fast, but still. Ugh. Between Owen acting a fool, the tediously long page count, and my unhappiness with the writing I’m not sure I could recommend this book. Maybe if only for the insight into BDSM, dom/sub, daddy/boy relationships… if you like those things then it might be worth reading since I haven’t read any other books that dip into those topics. Yet.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
This is one of my favorite tropes: an older sub with a younger daddy. Declan is 25 and his boy Owen is 46.
This is the third and last book in the series and all three books were entertaining and held my interest. The only way a 25 year old can pull off being a daddy to a much older man is if the Dom is extremely mature and comfortable in his own skin. And Declan certainly is. Declan becomes so adamant about being perceived as emotionally tough, that he refuses to reach out to Owen when he’s ill.
The death of Declan’s mother when he was a boy, as well as his father’s emotional distancing, continued to greatly affect Declan. It was sweet to see Owen help him through tough times. They really do work well as a couple, despite the large age gap and the fact that Owen has 3 kids around Declan’s age. The dynamic between Declan and Owen’s kids was a treat to witness.
Owen has his demons, too. Most centering around his wife leaving him when the children were young. And she never contacted them while the kids were growing up, which impacted Owen and his children a great deal.
It was a bit hard to believe after raising 3 grown kids that one could so easily slip into a boy role and be told what to do. But I’m willing to admit that it’s not unheard of.
I have to call out the author on their horrible grammar and other mistakes. Wrong verb tenses, poor sentence structures, and even using the wrong character’s name were frequently observed. A good editor would definitely improve the reading experience.
So I don't really know what to say about this series except that even though it had a strange but unique premise and it was a little bit ridiculous, I still enjoyed it. This last book was all over the place and there just seemed to be too much about the secondary characters not to mention that there's a ton of spoilers about the other characters in the epilogue when their books haven't even been written. I don't know when the other characters will be getting their books but the author claimed that they would.
I take this moment to declare Declan Moore as the best daddy in the world!
Every needs a daddy like him!
I want a daddy like Declan🥵
Owen and Daddy Declan just landed in my favorite couples list!
This is such a beautiful story. A classy version of daddy kink. Yes,it was hot and dirty but you can also see the respect and the sincerity between our main characters.
…and the narration! It was amazing! John Solo nailed the submissive side of Owen and the intensed personality of daddy Declan!
Sometimes, its ok to let go and let someone take care of us. Everyone needs someone to care for them right?
i freakin loved this whole series and i hope and pray there is more coming... even if its a spinoff thats fine too hha.. these two were everything.. amazing. . sexy.. fun.. and they had their ups and downs.. it wasnt like all rainbows and perfection.. i loved it soo much!i am so sad its over but i hope there is more to come and we will see these two again. amazing!
Content warnings include: biphobia, homophobia, transphobia (all challenged), side character goes missing, BDSM (daddy kink, spanking, mild D/s and a bit of domestic discipline, rough sex, fisting), sex on-page, character gets pierced; mentions of dom drop, depression, cancer.
Much like the second book, Take Care of Us picks up immediately where the prequel left off. It definitely is not a standalone and I recommend reading the books in order (and preferably closely after each other.)
The entire series is very consistent in both its good and bad sides. I still liked Owen and Declan together. They clearly clicked very well and had a wonderful dynamic. I especially adored their mutual pro-action when it came to trust and communication, and that, while they both made mistakes, they consistently learn from then and always have their reasons for doing things that might not be ideal. Even when they do act out, it's always heat-of-the-moment reactions that soon calm down, even when it's dramatic in the situation. They always look for solutions together. I also appreciated that none of the tension/plot of the book was about miscommunication or the main couple breaking up.
On the flip side, I still disliked some things about Declan. His extreme priviledge isn't really adressed, and while he does accept (eventually) that Owen doesn't always want the "comfort" Declan's money can offer, he doesn't really seem to get the message? Furthermore, I just disliked some of his reasoning and some aspects of his character. He just didn't click with me in some regards - it happens. Yes, he was caring and generous, but I particularly disliked the way he thought about James, even if he is unfailingly polite and friendly to Owen's ex's face.
There was also one side plot (about Owen's job as a chauffeur) that had a weird resolution in my opinion, and generally didn't really seem to serve a real purpose.
I had mixed feelings about the subplot about Owen becoming an author. I just always think it's a little weird to read books about authors, but again, that's a me-thing and not really something objective about the book. I did appreciate the brief discussions it sparked about conflating all queer identities as "gay" because "it sells better than bisexual", and about publishers taking on queer books ~for brownie points~. It was very brief though.
There were a few more sex scenes that I would have liked, but they weren't too long, and the book reads very well. A few editing errors here and there, but nothing major.
One thing I particularly liked, in the entire series but especially here, was the nuance of the wide variety of side-characters, several of whom are clearly set up to get their own novels. I can't wait to read about Auggie, Charles, David, Pierce, Summer, Penny, Silas, James, and possibly others!
I've read a third of the book so far... And I really want to stop. I loved the first two books even if some aspects were a bit unrealistic. It was still two great reads! But this book?
***SPOILERS***
I did not like how completely unrealistic the third book got. While I thought it was fine for Summer to disappear since she was such a mess (I completely understand that) what follows becomes absurd.
The police should have been able to find her. I don't know why they didn't seem to be doing their job (especially after Declan tells them his name), but they really should have been able to find her in a matter of hours since she had her cellphone with her and and since she actually called someone from where she was staying. Policemen can find the location of a phone and they can also find out where a phone call was made. So why didn't they ever check out the location? It was for the plot, of course, so that Declan could show how he takes care of everything.
Then, it just becomes heated arguments where no one listens to anyone. I don't understand why Summer had to be so stubborn about not seeing anyone. Couldn't she at the very least go see her family just to tell them she's alright (since they have been freaking out of their minds) and then tell them she needs space instead of completely refusing to see them?
Why was Owen so upset with Declan when he refused to tell him where his daughter was? Declan made sure she was safe, made sure she would have the help she needed, made her promise to call Owen every single day and made sure she wouldn't run again by keeping her location a secret because she was uncompromising! So why was Owen so upset? We've been reading two books already on Owen and Declan working on their Daddy/Boy relationship and their trust in each other where it's made clear that Declan makes the decisions and that he fixes things. He literally just fixed the situation as best as he could with Summer and now Owen is angry? And then Declan doesn't use his Daddy presence? He doesn't discipline his Boy when Owen is out of order? This reaction is out of character for Declan because he had no trouble disciplining Owen before (though I do understand that the situation was more delicate).
So yeah. The little police intrigue wasn't working at all and then these conversation made just to create drama made me fall out of love with this story. Plus, there are a few important inconsistencies between each book (like Oscar and Auggie both being in romantic relationships in the first book though these people seem to disappear) and when James asks if Owen is a Little out of the blue... Now, if James had this suspicion, I really don't know why he would actually ask the question. What does he even gain from asking? Did he really think he would get an answer?
Anyway. Many things disturb me in this book and I'm really not sure if I'll read the rest (especially when there are 200 pages left to read).
I like the first 2 books, because it was focusing on their relationship, which has always been the shining point of this series. In this book however, the were too much family drama, and side-plots that derails from the main characters. These are fine, if there is a more concise plot to which they can enrich, but here it felt contrived. Thus we just happened to have a very LONG slice of life book.
Also Owen's family dramas made me grown to dislike his kids and James. The twin were very disrespectful of him, and Summer melt down was irresponsible and immature.
Then there are a lot of plot bunnies being throw in but going nowhere. They were more of an annoyance than enticing me to read the spin off.
The only thing that the book had going for me was the sexs, and even then some of them just wasn't working out for me. Tbh I kind of wish I never know this sequel exist haha.
I was so excited to finish this series, but this book was a miss for me. I had to push myself to finish it because I lost interest in the plot about 25% in. Much of the book felt contrived, and there was just too much going on. Then, the end of the book was rushed. And the epilogue just tied every loose end up in a paragraph after lots of build up to potential future books of other characters. If anything else is written based on this book, I will be skipping it.
I was so annoyed with Owen during this last installment. He regressed into a child. He was the least mature of all the people in this book and believe me that is a hard thing to be within a book full of immature people. I kept telling myself this is a 47 year old man. This is so unnerving because the Owen we meet in book one is self sufficient headstrong man and by this third book he seems to be an incapable brat. I get the kink of being a “boy” but damn.
Also, by the time we get to the last book, it becomes clear what a badly written character Owen is. He lacks depth. His whole personality is about how great, honorable and desirable he is. That gets pretty boring.
(Daddy/boy, D/s, BDSM) We begin where we left off, the end of the fourth of July, and they moved to a bar to continue celebrating. We see Declan getting to know the twins.
Moving along we have more sexy time, even more exciting with BDSM, tied up, blindfolded, fisting, and more erotic and explicit sexiness. Throughout we see more sexual delights from our couple, lots of toys, action and deep passion. We get what we read this type of book for. Owen...
So, we see the Summer drama, and I hated it, but changed my mind when it was explained. We get the right amount of tension in the story, which grips us and we can't put it down. There are mysteries floating along, and we do get a tidy wrap up later on. Declan...
Mainly we see our couple's deep love, exciting sexuality, the family bonding, and so much more. Also, we really get a good look at our men's lives and how it will be in the future together. It's lovely to see how well they share their lives and it's fun to watch.
We have underlying interests in Auggie, Charles, Silas, plus Heath and Ridge, too.
There are large gifts, a rescued dog, a BDSM club scene, but we are also seeing puzzle pieces fitting together.
I loved these men, the relationship and intense love. They make it work.
I'm impressed with this trilogy, and enjoyed each book. * I understand and enjoy the tropes, BDSM, D/s, and Daddy/boy play.
I think Gianni Holmes has given us a thorough study of flawed folks who find their way, get stronger, and explore the passion of their hearts.
Loved the elements of play, which are well done, plus Declan's fortitude, and Owen's strength as a father and partner, so solid.
Awesome epilogue and HEA. There is a follow up Christmas story, too. I highly recommend it ! I loved it ! ENJOY !

"The perfection of love to bloom."
It's always sad to see the characters you have grown to love find their Happy Ever After and move on. Though with Gianni's babes, there is no such thing as The End. I look forward to all that she has planned and if that epilogue is anything to go by, she is going to rock it.
I really thought this author could not get me to share my love for her men like I did for the ones of Til There Was You. However, Declan and Owen have slide right in and squeezed me solid. They have proven that they were meant to be despite the trials and tribulations that they have had to endure. I was not certain that this story could become what it has today, but the joy I feel is that of an aunt meeting her niece or nephew for the first time. Joy that Gianni has birthed a series that I definitely will be revisiting. And joy that she took an idea that had given her some grievances [will it be accepted?] and made it one that her readers seemed to devour.
Slowly, there are books evolving about younger "Daddies" and their older boys and they are being executed smartly. Here's five beautiful exquisite gold lamé stars Gianni, for rocking this series, and taking care of us.
I voluntarily and honestly reviewed this book without bias or persuasion from the author.
I've been impatiently waiting for Dec and Owen to return, they are my favourite Daddy/boy couple simply because of their utter devotion to each other. Dec is the perfect Daddy, nothing is too little or too big to do for his boy, even if he does things that might hurt him but will be better in the long run. And they simply can't keep their hands off each other, addicted like either is a drug is something I love to read. An all consuming love. And seeing Dec possessive is everything.
The little sadist in me wanted some of their disagreements to blow up more but not really, because I love them together, so it's a conflict as I read.
Having read the short stories of mother's day and father's day I knew spoilers for things that are hinted to in this book and I can't wait for the spin-offs.
As I read the book and came closer to the ending, I just wanted to go back to book one and find their beginning again, because that's the kind of couple they are. The one you can't have enough of.
As much as I support and appreciate novels that celebrate GSRM (Gender, Sexual, and/or Romantic Minority) characters and relationships, this one is a bit of a mess. This is a bunch of different stories crammed into a single novel, apparently to set the ground for several spinoffs. There isn't a main plot to bind together the subplots.
We have an age-reversed Daddy/boy kink relationship. Good premise. Throw in the billionaire-loves-the-everyman trope. Standard, if overdone. The first two novels of the series did an okay enough job with that relationship. So, why not squeeze into the third novel a bunch of different kinds of kink w/ LGBTQIA+ relationships and characters? The reason why is there is too much going on and the novel becomes a rambling mess bouncing from one thing to another without telling a fully-developed story.
Now, add in some serious contradictions, and this book becomes crappier than it needed to be.
Crazy adult kids, unexpected couplings, a closeted writer, and a new furrier are parts and pieces of the Owen & Declan love puzzle. Overall, I really enjoyed this three-part series. I liked the interaction between Owen & Declan, the kids, the whole menagerie of characters. Although, the story does come off as a bit of a soap opera. Also, it's nice to have a billionaire boyfriend. (I personally want to apologize to the millionaires, who have been displaced by the B’s😆) One more thing, the author need another round of editing; there are a few errors that I noticed. Carry on!
The first book of this series was beautiful .. i liked the idea of a younger daddy and a much older boy .. but the second book lost it appel to me .. I find it hard to belive that a person who for 15 years didn't had time for sex now it's sooo desperate for it .. and it's confortable to call somebody daddy when for 46 years he never once consider himself a submisive or a daddy's boy .. and then we get a 3 long book .. where all we get sex sex .. and some clues .. that all they're friends and all of Owen's familly is kinky as hell .. it was boring .. nothing really happend and I really don't care to read not even one of the spin off of this series !
What a great ending to the book! Dec and Owen were freaking amazing together. I loved watching them get their HEA. They are beautiful! The writing was once again amazing. I’m going to be sad leaving these boys but I know they will be ok with each other. The smexy was hawt, now I really needed to know about Hawk and Ridge!
