「程乙本」最初源自程偉元、高鶚整理出來的一百二十回全本，乾隆五十六年（1791）萃文書屋以木活字排印成書，題《新鐫全部繡像紅樓夢》，世稱「程甲本」。翌年（1792）程、高兩人再作精修，印行為「程乙本」，終結了曹雪芹（1715—1763）逝世後三十年來《紅樓夢》手抄本繁亂的局面，此為中國文學史上劃時代的一件大事，讓中國人有幸讀到全貌問世的《紅樓夢》。

　　今《紅樓夢》（程乙本修訂版），為多年的臺灣桂冠版經典複刻，桂冠版以古文大家啟功注釋本為底本，配以唐敏等紅學專家所作詳盡注釋和詩詞翻譯，重新整理而成；參校七種重要版本，撰寫詳細校記於每回中。插圖完整選用清朝工筆畫家改琦《紅樓夢圖詠》五十幅人物線描畫，清秀簡麗，工致嚴謹，為讀者提供別一種美學想像。為讀者重建《紅樓夢》書裡書外的時代背景，本書收入《紅樓夢》人物表、四大家族關係表、曹雪芹家族關係表、大觀園平面示意圖等資料。

Xueqin Cao (Chinese: 曹雪芹; pinyin: Cáo Xuěqín; Wade–Giles: Ts'ao Hsueh-ch'in, 1715 or 1724 — 1763 or 1764) was the pseudonym of a Qing Dynasty Chinese writer, best known as the author of Dream of the Red Chamber, one of the Four Great Classical Novels of Chinese literature.
It has been suggested that his given name was Zhan Cao (曹霑) and his courtesy name is Mengruan (夢阮; 梦阮; literally "Dream about Ruan" or "Dream of Ruan")[...]

Considered to be one of the best translations (I also have the Chinese language versions). There are a few misspellings (eg. "wistaria"), but these do not lessen the readability. This comment is for the first edition, hardback, slip-cased edition, published by the Foreign Language Press, Peking, 1978. It uses alternate romanizations (Wade-Giles): Tsao Hsueh-Chin and Kao Ngo, illustrated by Tai Tun-Pang.

Kết thúc gần 2 tháng đọc câu chuyện về người họ Giả. Lúc đầu thì cũng chỉ đọc vì là tác phẩm kinh điển rồi "Tác phẩm duy nhất mà có một ngành riêng nghiên cứu về nó - Hồng học".
Thú thật thì phần đầu đọc hơi chán nhưng cuối cùng vẫn đi xong cả quãng đường.
Đối với mình, tác phẩm mô tả cuộc sống trong phủ Vinh, phủ Ninh Theo kết cấu như miêu tả một cuộc vui. Đầu tiên, các nam thanh nữ tú tập hợp lại, gợp gỡ nhau. Sau đó bắt đầu các trò đố thơ rồi tự đặt biệt hiệu cho mình. Có cả những chuyện hoang đường (Lúc đọc đến thì khá sốc, phải đọc đi đọc lại xem mình có hiểu nhầm ý của tác gỉa không).
Phải đến quyển 3 - quyển cuối cùng thì mình mới bị cuốn hút và đọc liên tục. Nhưng đây cũng là lúc hạ màn. Cuộc vui nào rồi cũng đến lúc tàn. Các nhân vật dần dần rời khỏi phủ Giả (trong đó cách của Giả Bảo Ngọc là đặc biệt nhất, mà cũng đúng thôi, nhân vật chính mà). Tình hình phủ Giả xuống dốc trầm trọng. Mình đã nghĩ về cái kết tan hoang, không còn gì cả (Nghĩ lại thấy mình cũng ác thật)
Nhưng không, sau cơn mưa, trời lại sáng. Tình hình được cải thiện, cũng coi như là cái kết tốt đẹp với đa phần người ở lại.
P/s: Dù biết là không thể dùng góc nhìn của người thời nay để xem xét nhưng mình không thể chấp nhận quan niệm con gái gả chồng là một phán quyết chung thẩm, gặp phải chồng tồi tệ thì do số, không thể làm gì được.

This was a long read. As I had indicated in the reviews for Vols. I and II, the reader should understand that basically nothing happens (that is from a Western literature perspective). I suppose this work is similar to Downton Abbey, except with a much broader cast of characters and a vastly different tradition. If you want to lose yourself in a read and you don't want the mundane, this is the work for you.

The third volume in this 3-volume set - it took me forever to read. About 2000 pages in all, with LOTS of characters. But i am really satisfied that I read this "story" from the 1700s/Qin Dynasty. It is such an interesting commentary on and glimpse of life at that time in China, and I have found references and "echos" as I continued my reading about China this year.

As basic as I am, I came to approach this series because of its title of “One of the four classical great novels of Chinese literature.”

This series is not only simply a story, but also full of endless details for Chinese history, literature, culture and philosophy that I can’t help to dig up and look further into up next.

That’s the beauty of these Chinese classics. The stories were often built with historical and cultural colors all around, and yet also including hints for us to look deeper into life, to pay deeper attention and find parallels to learn about what’s really going on in our own lifetime.

Flipping throughout the whole summer, as if had been living with the clan for months. An achievement of myself. Text written in Qin dynasty by Cao, I consent people who dedicated to research on the literature and even established a School of it LOL. Human. Tension and reaction between minds yet act in one in a whole. I was told savvy offered by this lit. varies in ages. Maybe, another stage of life, I will.
