Special Agent Alexis Thompson is eager to get back to work after getting shot on her last FBI assignment. When she discovers that the man who ordered the hit has sent one of his spies to an energy research facility, Alexis convinces the CIA to send her to take him down. This time, Alexis is bringing along her new partner, Waffle, a highly-trained explosives detection dog.
Matt Brown is a former Navy SEAL who is now working as an engineering professor. He also helps his friend, CIA Operations Officer Cam Mitchell, whenever his skills are needed. When Alexis goes undercover, Cam sends Matt along to try to keep Alexis from coming home in a body bag.
Matt and Alexis soon discover that their enemy’s plans go far beyond good old-fashioned espionage. With the clock ticking, Alexis and Matt must figure out how to stop a dangerous explosion before they become collateral damage.
Calculated Reaction is Book 4 in The Calculated Series. All books in The Calculated Series may be enjoyed as standalone novels or as a series.
K.T. Lee is a writer, mom and engineer who grew up on a steady diet of books from a wide variety of genres. When K.T. began to write the kind of books she wanted to read, she mixed clever women and the sciences with elements from thrillers (and a dash of romance) to create The Calculated Series.
Calculated Reaction by K.T. Lee is a 2019 publication.
Another thrilling episode in the ‘Calculated’ Series!!
K.T. Lee often creates stories based on our worst nightmares. The prospect of a problem, even a minor one, at an energy facility is enough to keep one awake at night. So, once again, I found myself on the edge of my seat as Alexis and Matt partner up, along with a trained dog named Waffle, in an intense undercover operation aimed at locating an explosive device.
Meanwhile, the chemistry between Matt and Alexis is so fiery, it could become combustible, but Alexis has a strict policy about dating her partners, which means the Matt is off limits-
I’ve read the first three full length books in this series, and so far, I’m really enjoying it. I love the combination of high stakes thrills and romance and all the couples featured, thus far. However, I think maybe Matt and Alexis is my favorite couple to date.
But another reason this book felt a bit more special was because of Waffle! A pet or animal always adds something to a story, but a specially trained dog like Waffle enhanced the plot significantly. I loved his role in this book. As always, there is lots of intrigue, and plenty of action packed into the story.
Overall, Lee packs a lot of entertainment a relatively small package and creates a nice balance between the mystery and the romance, without breaking the momentum. The smart ladies and clever gentlemen complement each other, and the banter is always quick and sharp.
Although there are some references to ongoing investigations and characters who appeared in previous installments, this book can still be read as a stand- alone. However, I recommend reading them all!! You’ll be glad you did!
The book was enjoyable but I just didn't click with the characters as much. I've liked them both separately but together they were just okay. The mystery was as good as ever and while I saw the twist coming it was still well done.
This is an awesome book in a series that keep getting better and better. I have loved many of this author's books as they are amazingly written with awesome characters who are realistic. Alexis and Matt are an amazing duo who are dynamic. This story is a compelling read.

Alexis is just finishing up convalescent leave from her job at the FBI when she’s asked to go undercover at a research lab.
I always forget that, in America, even a cosy mystery will mean every single person has at least one gun on them at all times. It’s somewhat disconcerting.
There is romance, but it doesn’t get in the way of either the plot or the character development.
This book is very well edited and it shows a good range of characters. The shifts in perspective are clearly delineated. My only (very minor complaint) is that the plot itself could be a bit stronger.
Nuclear Power Test Site Sabotage This fictional FBI/CIA story is rated PG, in my view. The story involves the sabotage of a nuclear power plant. The story moves quickly with a well thought out plot, good character development, and a very satisfying ending. I read this as part of the Calculated Box Set.
A great read from beginning to end! The main character has a keen sense of justice, and is willing to go to extremes to see that justice is done…even if that means breaking the law. That’s enough for me to keep me reading. I found myself cheering them on in the mission to rescue the world from a bad situation. It was geographically accurate...the best I could tell.
Alexis is focused and well trained. She's got a good sense of people, and usually spot on. She finds herself working with someone that she's attracted to, but that has to wait. There's a plot that she and her team need to infiltrate, and end. Good read, with a bit of romance mixed with lots of intrigue.
I was smitten with the characters and who doesn't like affectionate and highly trained dogs? This story was too short but it seems ebooks are now brief.
K.T Lee’s Calculated Reaction has you hooked from the very start. It captures the enthusiasm and passion of Special Agent Alexis Thompson and the intrigue behind Dr Matt Brown. The introduction of key characters such as the Parker brothers and Quinn flows well with the plot, and it celebrates the importance of friendship, partnerships, teamwork and determination. I loved reading about Waffle, who is such a positive addition, and his scenes are well written. The changing narratives are well-paced, and it is easy to follow and keeps you engaged. The chemistry between Alexis and Matt is undeniable and their romantic moments are fiery, endearing and makes this book all the more exciting. I also loved the cover of this book. This is my first book of K.T Lee’s, but it is not my last. I have purchased book one, and I cannot wait to read more of this exciting series.

Alexis was shot when working as protection for Dr. Ree Ryland. Her time off gave her a chance to work with a cool K9 also doing rehabilitation.
She meets a mysterious man again at the wedding of Ree to her colleague Cam. Dr Matt Brown was not only a colleague to Ree, but a former SEAL team member with Cam.
Alexis is intrigued by Matt, but mostly in the dark until she discovers their connection undercover. Given the inside info leak, keeping the info under wraps was no less important than it was funny when they discover their various connections.
A dangerous series of intrigues and death continue in pursuit of the illusion Dimitri and his deadly cohorts.
Intense action packed adventure and romance with strong smart women characters and some pretty hot alpha males.

Calculated Reaction is the fourth book in The Calculated Series. This book is fast-paced and action-packed, guaranteed to keep your attention from start to finish. The characters are well developed, intelligent, and independent. Waffle, the explosives detection dog, is a welcome addition to the story. The storyline is well written and engaging, with a threat at an energy facility, danger, suspense, intrigue, and romance.
I loved this book and can't wait for the next one in the series! I read and reviewed this book with no obligation.
