After marriage, Steve Dancy has quietly settled in San Diego. He can hardly remember his days of wanderlust, and he’s grateful to have left behind the violence of a raw frontier. In a celebratory mood, Steve invites his mother to a meet her new grandchild in a chic resort in Monterey, California. With the delivery of a handwritten note, his world suddenly reverts to the savagery of his bygone days.

This book did not feel as natural as the previous ones, and the plot seemed way overly complicated, almost like the author was trying too hard. I did like how Steve, McAllen, and Sharp showed signs of age and “rustiness” since it had been a while since they had been in this type of situation. While I wanted more after the 6th book, the series would have been better left at that one.

I never tire of reading the tales of Steve Dancy. The worst part of reading these stories is that they end and I don't know when the next tale will be available. I am definitely a fan!
A great read for the story that unfolds in the last second type of reader. It was filled twists and turns to make you wonder how the main character is going to make it out alive this time.
Very well written series. Each book was absolutely nothing short of amazing action and great characters. Would highly recommend this series to all that enjoys a great western series.
