The trail had gone cold. Det. Luke Morgan had all but given up hope. Then a letter from his sister's killer changes everything Luke thought he knew about her death - and renews his hope for justice.
"Lily wasn't the first. She won't be the last. Like the fall leaves that turn orange and red, 23 pretty little girls harvested dead."
The killer wants to play a game. When the man who calls himself, The Professor, strikes a little too close to home, Luke is hot on his trail - the killer taunting him at every turn. Meanwhile, Luke's investigative team - private eyes Riley Sullivan and Cooper Deagnan - work to unravel long-forgotten cold cases, uncover decades-old witnesses who still have stories to tell, and unearth sick twisted trophies taken from the victims.
Luke, Riley, and Cooper must stop the diabolical serial killer before he goes underground until the next harvest. Just how far will Luke go to bring his sister's killer to justice?

The only reason I didn't give this exciting ride of a book a 5 is I knew who the killer was early on in the book. This is a page turner serial killer thriller. I highly recommend it!
The book was good but the ending dragged. The killer was a sick man and angry over his girlfriend breaking up with him so he harvested girls every October on a Friday night. I did like how they put it all together piece by piece. How they tied everything together and found the guy who called himself The Professor. He was so arrogant ending letters to Luke daring him to catch him. His sister was one of his first victims. Very sad but they follow the clues till they find him.
This is not a book you can sit back and relax 😬 The people were real life interesting and believable. And it kept you on edge so if you wanted a book to relax your mind and body this definitely isn’t the one to read. Loved it all.
After the disappointment I had with the first book, I was hoping this second in the series would be better. Unfortunately, it was more of the same. Poorly written, boring and not very believable. I tried to give this author another chance, and now I have. But this was the last book I will read of hers.
The Bone Harvest (Riley Sullivan #2) by Stacy M. Jones. This is book 2 in a series, but can be read as a stand-alone book as the background information is provided and this reader never felt that there was pertinent information missing despite not having read book 1. This is a crime thriller that moves along at a rapid pace. The story also deals with the aftermath of serious crime and how the "not knowing" of what happened to a loved one and not having the guilty party brought to justice affects personal relationships and family dynamics. During the investigation of a current missing person case that turns into a homicide case and the cold case of a detective's sister' murder, startling patterns begin to emerge which results in a serial killer case across various states. Some of the "police" procedures were a bit strange to me, why would a suspect be interviewed anywhere else but at a police station? If the goal is for the guilty party to be convicted in a court of law with a judge/jury, why not make sure all the evidence/interview is properly video recorded by the appropriate personnel, so the chain of custody cannot be challenged by a defence lawyer? Overall, a good read. 3 and half stars.
This book delves into the sick mind of a serial killer. Luke didn’t have any idea that his sister was murdered at the hands of a serial killer until he begins getting taunting letters from the killer. Oh my! It would be horrible enough to deal with the murder of such a young innocent, even worse if the crime went unsolved. But to be taunted by a serial killer taking credit for her murder over a decade after her death would be an absolute horror. Especially as more details of the murders come to light. The pain the victims endured during their final hours would be unthinkable.
Stacy M. Jones has written a riveting and enthralling mystery/thriller that was near impossible to put down even to eat and sleep. I am anxious to post this review and then begin reading the third book in the series.
I read the book blurb about The Bone Harvest and I had to read it. No, I have not read Book 1, and that didn't matter. That's important to me because I don't like to feel like I am missing part of the story. A lot of the characters know each other from life before this story, but you soon feel a part of the crowd.
Stacy Jones introduces you to characters you will like, or maybe NOT, but you will remember them. The campuses visited by the team helping Luke become alive when she describes them. The story evolves as you would expect it to and then it ends. The very sick individual is identified and ...
But, I will not tell you more. Read this story if you can handle knowing the truth about sadistic serial killers. This is one you will not be able to put down.
This is the 2nd in the series about Riley Sullivan, who is a Private Eye. She works with her partner, Cooper. She is still with her boyfriend, Luke Morgan, who is a detective at the local police department.
Luke receives a letter from the person who claims that he killed his sister..Luke's sister, Lily, was killed and her bones found 16 years ago. Luke and Lily were both at college, and he always blamed himself for not looking after her better. Now, he has received the letter stating that there are 23 more girls that have not been found and he is going to kill more.
This takes you across several states, as you never know where the killer is going to strike again.
This books picks up a while after book one and shows how the three have moved on from book ones case and craziness. Now Luke is on the pursuit of his sisters killer and everyone gets involved. The writing is fast paced, detailed and shows the intricacies of an investigation, as well as the frustrations having multiple locations and paths of an investigation was interesting and kept the pieces fluid. As it all came together the characters drew me in more and more. This book ends with a HEA, but there are parts that also foreshadow part of the next book storyline. Can’t wait!
Initially the title is what lured me to.the books description. The story has good premise, a serial killer who wants to be found after 23 years starts taunting one of his victims brother, who is a police detective. Brother has friends and girlfriend who are private investigator s who help. That being said parts of the book are intriguing and interesting that I couldn't put it down, other parts are predictable and appear to be rushed or from an inexperienced writer. That's the disappointing part. I think there is promise as most novelist get better with time, if they understand the point of view of the reader
Riley and Luke were investigators . They lived together. Years ago Lukes sister was abducted when walking home from a party to her dorm at the college she went to. They never found out who killed her or why they did. They also had Cooper help them tho he didnt want to work permanent work with cases anymore. Suddenly more young girls wee found murdered and eventually Luke started to find clues that some of the cases were somehow connected to each other. After over 20 years him and Riley started to find the connection to them. A serial killer ? They had alot to check out and people to question to finally find out who killed his sister and all the other girls.
Detective Luke Morgan has been haunted for years by his sister’s unsolved murder. He has begun receiving letters that appear to be sent by the killer. Luke and his team finally have the opportunity to find justice for all the victims of this serial killer.
This book was an attention grabber from the very beginning. The multiple strands of the investigation were very interesting and led to a satisfying conclusion.
This is a good book to read for pleasure. It kept my interest throughout. The investigation takes place on a number of fronts with a number of detectives and PIs. Even so, it was easy to keep all that was happening straight. Stacey M. Jones isn’t quite there yet, but I would not be surprised if the day comes when she is among my favorite writers.
“Lily wasn’t the first. She won’t be the last.” And so, it begins. Luke, Cooper and Riley start looking. What they find is much more than they bargained on. I enjoyed the story and recommend the book.
A very disturbed killer draws the families together as Riley and Luke strive to put a number of cold cases, including Luke’s sister’s murder, to rest. Such a simple answer that eluded everyone for years. Recommend!
Missing coeds, murders, a serial killer taunting a detective and family member. Suspense kept me turning the pages right to the end. Stacy M. Jones writes believable characters with real emotion and a story that resonates.
A letter finds Luke,Riley and Cooper diving head first into cold cases including Luke’s sisters. Wow! This was well written, kept me interested from page 1. Could not put it down! Can’t wait to read book 3.
Loving this series keeps me wanting to read next book. Many twists and turns but nice family dynamics also. I like the authors portrayal of the different characters. Good to read some big racial individuals with a conscience.
This book kept me on my toes. I love seeing the relationship between Luke and Riley. So glad Luke finally found out who killed his sister, I loved reading how everything unfolded in this book. Overall a fantastic read.
This book was just painful. The writing is amateurish. The plot had promise but it just dragged along. None of the characters is believable or likable. The alternating narration is annoying especially since Riley is in first person and everyone else in third. Annoying.
Great read Great characters Luke is getting letters from the killer who killed his sister. There are 23 murders. This is full of action and keeps everyone looking for him.
Excellent character buildup. Incredible storyline. Really interesting setting. Realistic landscapes. Who can’t picture the headless Angel? Loved the character involvement. 5+ Stars
This series gets even better with each book At the end of each story, you are left with the need to rush into the next. Definitely 5 stars worth of excellence
