Pearl needs her merfriends’ help when she’s named Winter Princess and finds out she’s going to be a big sister in this sparkling Mermaid Tales adventure.
Pearl is over the moon when she gets the fin-tastic news that she’s been picked to be the next Winter Princess! She can’t help gushing to Shelly, Kiki, and Echo about the beautiful dress she’ll get to wear and how all eyes will be on her when she makes her big speech at the Winter Festival. She can’t wait to tell her parents!
But her parents have some news of their own…Pearl is going to be a big sister! They’re adopting a baby boy, and he’ll be coming home with them right around the time of the Winter Festival. Suddenly, instead of glittering gowns and princess tiaras, Pearl has to talk about new cradles and baby toys. How can her new brother be stealing all of her parents’ attention before he’s even here?

Mermaids are big in this house. And this series “mermaid tales “ is certainly amongst our collection of underwater adventures.
In this 20th book “ The Winter Princess” the stage is set as we travel under the water to the Swamp family and learn that the young daughter Pearl is to become the next winter princess at the winter festival.
When trying to tell her family this exciting news she learns that her family is in the process of adopting a baby boy. Pearl has a hard time coming to terms with all this as she expected to be the center of attention with her news.
With her trident academy friends by her side Pearl learns that her friends will always be there and supportive and when changes happen in ones family you just need to be open to the possibilities as there is always room for another .
9 was very excited with this story as she loves babies and was thrilled that Pearl could become a big sister. This story opened the door to a great conversation about what makes up a family and how adoption is another way to complete a family.

New babies and also adoption can both be really difficult, I like how it was written in this story.
