From single ready to mingle to married with children VERY QUICKLY!
I do NOT consider it to be a STAND-ALONE read. Cee Bowerman authors multiple series set within Rojo, Texas and they are intertwined. There is a correct reading order and it can be found on her website (ceebowermanbooks.com). These really do need to be read in that order for maximum reader satisfaction and to prevent spoilers as there are multiple reoccurring characters, details that cannot be adequately recapped within the scope of another story that contributes to the story universe / world building, overlapping / concurrent timelines and overarching themes.
** There are some scenes that will be a trigger for sensitive readers. I have included examples below. Also, if you have not read the previous story in this series, the following may contain SPOILERS **
Another great, but very, very fast paced story! The world building continues to be excellent, maybe this is because of the way it has been built organically, scene by scene and story by story. The characters are strong and we continue to learn more about the Texas Kings and Bird, their President (really funny scene about his role in the MC 😂). We are also introduced to a new family with Summer, her little birds, her mother, brothers and sisters.
Summer has three small children that she has been raising alone since the unexpected death of her husband three years earlier. She works with Drea and the two have become friends. While she loves her job as an accountant, Summer’s boss is a creep. After successfully repelling him yet again, she needs a night out. Her mom has her kids for the holiday weekend and she is thinking that maybe it might be time for her to have some adult fun. So her and Drea head over to a bar that some of her friends own.
Bird has been a little envious of the happiness and love some of his siblings have found and he wants some version of that for himself. Then one Friday night he comes down from the office with a couple of his brothers to meet with Drea, a long time friend-enemy, only to be surprised she has someone with her. They are introduced and when they shake hands, Bird feels something almost electric and so does Summer.
Summer hasn’t been with anyone since her husband and Bird hasn’t ever brought anyone to his home. This unexpected feeling leads them both to act differently. Bird asks her to have dinner, Summer accepts, they walk out together, and get on his bike. Bird takes her to his house and they agree to extend it through the weekend. Then before they know it, circumstances and destiny intervene and the adventure begins.
One last note before I wrap this part up … the MC genre contains several different branches from sweet to outlaw to one percenters. While the Texas Knights MC is in the middle imo, the Texas Kings MC is more of the outlaw variety. Both focus on love, brotherhood, families and support, but the Texas Kings also bring vengeance to the table.
⛔️ The interwoven SERIES contains references to, or scenes detailing, subject matter that may be a trigger or offensive to some, including, but not limited to: adult language; derogatory terms; mental health challenges; steamy adult intimate scenes with dominance, submission, (play) spanking for pleasure, restraints, “bottom” play, breath play, sensory deprivation, voyeurism, exhibitionism, etc.; violence such as kidnapping, abduction, murder, death, torture, assault, fighting, betrayal, coercion, blackmail, rape, attempted rape, stalking, threats, subterfuge, money laundering, cheating, prostitution, human trafficking, mafia / cartels, arson, drug use, drug addiction, drug manufacturing, drug distribution, as well as the mental, physical and sexual abuse of females and/or children, polygamy, etc.
** Caution: The series contains scenes with reference to, or detailed graphic violence against females and children that fit into the storyline, but may be a trigger for some **
There are minimal grammatical issues in the story. Listed below are examples of errors I found within the SERIES: incorrect word choice (piece iso peace), incorrect word tense (one iso ones), typos (big[1] iso big, abou iso about, att iso at) punctuation errors (extra periods, commas, extra spaces, missed quotation marks, missed capitalization at beginning of sentence), missed words and extra inserted / repetitive words.
I highlighted one of the issues I found and uploaded it to Goodreads.com for anyone interested.
I am mentioning these for readers such as myself that visualize the story as it is read, because errors interrupt the flow.
