"On every continent, in every nation, God is at work in and through the lives of believers. From the streets of Amsterdam to remote Pacific islands to the jungles of Ecuador and beyond, each international adventure that emerges is a dramatic episode that could be directed only by the hand of God. Surrounded by militant rebels, which doctors, and the Philippine jungle, one woman relentlessly proclaimed the transforming power of God.
Totally Surrounded follows an incredible and faithful woman of God who follows the call to the Philippines to visit a church and ends up staying for years longer than she planned. Christina shared her story of sharing the message of God and helping people in countless different ways in her time away from where she grew up. This story is a quick one that shares some exciting and amazing stories, but leaves you sure that there were countless other testimonies that were not able to fit in the book. A really powerful and amazing story of a girl who had the courage to follow God fully, even though it meant giving up comfort and safety.
This book is so well written and encouraging. I am so inspired by Christina's story and how she threw her life into missions wholeheartedly as a young person. The way it was written is so relatable to life, and I love the way the books shares her feelings, struggles and victories. One of my favorites.
What a beautiful story of how a willing person who listens to God, can do the most incredible things for His glory, is this story. The descriptions of places and people, put you right in the middle of this amazing story of pure faith. I really was touched by this story.
An inspiring story, riveting and full of adventure! Read it with open hands asking God to show you the bigger picture and be surrendered to what He may ask of you!
Not my favorite of the International Adventures books, probably because I had a difficult time relating to the woman or the places she went. I shared parts of it with my roommate who is from the Philippines and she was totally unfamiliar with what was talked about, and barely knew the location.
Very interesting and inspiring story of a 19-year old girl from an abusive family who becomes a Christian and goes alone to the mission field in the Philippines for a year and ends up staying six years. Motivating. Recommended.
