When Kyoko’s heart is broken, she decides that revenge is a dish best served in the spotlight!
Kyoko Mogami followed her true love Sho to Tokyo to support him while he made it big as an idol. But he’s casting her out now that he’s famous enough! Kyoko won’t suffer in silence—she’s going to get her sweet revenge by beating Sho in show biz!
Kyoko desperately wants to be cast in a new samurai drama so that she can work opposite her best friend in the entire world, Kanae "Moko" Kotonami. But the producer in charge of the acting test kicks Kyoko out without even letting her perform! Kyoko’s temporary manager Yoshiro isn’t worried, though. He knows a little adversity isn’t enough to stand in the way of Kyoko’s dreams. Still, her competition isn’t known for playing fair, and Kyoko’s professionalism is getting blasted away by waves of doubt and grudge demons. Her only chance to stay in the running is to channel her dark emotions into her acting, but how can she hope to control feelings about her special weakness Ren Tsuruga ?!

I loved this! This is the furthest I have gotten in this series in years! I am so sad to go back to waiting, but I want to go omnibus with the rest of the series. I am so looking forward to Kyoko as Momiji! I am also looking forward to the Ren reunion! I still need more Maria - make it happen! Chop chop!
Anyway, this ends my 2021 reread. I am so glad that after 12 years, I still love this series. I love this even more now than I did then. Thank you Nakamura for such a great series, especially Kyoko.
Wow! The way Kyoko handles her audition tests for the role of Momiji! I was riveted to every page. It was interesting how no one was sure what to expect. Except maybe the president. He really is an insightful one. I liked getting a bit more Yashiro. I still want to see him develop more as a character, not just a manager. And are we about to get a jealous Ren?! AHHH! I can never get enough of this series! MORE MORE MORE!
Mais um excelente volume de Skip Beat. Adoro a história e adoro as personagens. Quero mais e mal posso esperar por poder continuar esta história. Ah! E adoro a arte também. Tantos volumes lidos e ainda não estou farta. Fantástico!
Of course Kyoko has the wrong idea about who Ren likes! Such a slow burn! I wonder who Kimiko likes and why she’s trying to get the role of Momiji. Also I want more Ren time! Why does he keep changing his hair to Kuon when he should just need to be Ren and Cain?

The worst thing about finishing this set is that I am potentially going to have to wait YEARS for the next one to come out 😭😭😭 Why did you leave me dangling off this precipice of mixed emotions?!?
There is depressingly little of Ren in these volumes, but I really enjoy the momiji arc so I don't mind that much. As well as Kyoko developing as a character...
I love watching Kyoko prep for a new role and make it hers, but all of the conflict here felt like it was truncated—set up and then cut short. Struggling with samurai training, being rejected before the audition, a director who hates talentos, Morizumi’s scheming…everything was pretty easily resolved. Even the paparazzi photo of Sho kissing Kyoko, arguably the most interesting thing in the volume, was brushed aside and basically ignored. I hope this is all a set up for the future because, if it’s not, it’s a symptom of a story running out of steam.
