As with all the other hardcover collected editions of the various Dark Crystal comics from Boom Studios this is a beautifully presented book. Oversized and with thick, good quality glossy paper to show off the artwork.

The Age of Resistance is the netflix show set in the Dark Crystal universe which I've not yet seen but that doesn't matter as this mini-series is a prequel.

The gelfling are under attack from the deadly Arathim and in a desperate attempt to save the village of Stonewood, the greatest warrior of their tribe, Ordon, is sent on a quest to find the mythical weapon, the Dual Glaive.

Against Ordon's wishes young Fara accompanies him on his quest which will take them to the Tomb of Relics.

It's a beautifully realised fantasy world with amazing artwork that immerses you into the story.
With only four issues it doesn't have time for the plot to get bogged down in too much detail but it's long enough for some good character development with the main duo and we get an adventure of peril, and mixed emotions.

Can they find the weapon and get back in time to save their village?
Not everything ends as you expect.

A fun, quick, fantasy read and a good expansion of the universe for Dark Crystal fans.

The artwork in this graphic novel was just PHENOMENAL! I loved looking at the artwork, Dark Crystal artwork is definitely one of my favorites to see! I enjoyed reading the backstory behind the dual glave and seeing some familiar characters from the Age of Resistance. It was a wonderfully told tale, perfect for Dark Crystal fans!

Wow! This was really good! Ever since Canto finished, I've been looking for more series that give me that same sense of adventure. Canto, Lord of the Rings, Bone, etc. This felt like a bite-sized piece of that grand adventure that I wanted. Filled with all the things I was hoping for. A brave warrior who is forced to grow in emotion rather than strength. An unlikely hero who proves worthy of great things. A mythical quest no one thought possible. And many fantastical characters to fill our hearts. Even with the short length, every action felt important and enjoyable. The losses hurt. The victories were triumphant. Just a fantastic little adventure. Now I have to be honest, I've never experienced any Dark Crystal media. No books, not the original film, nor the newer show. So I have no idea how this plays into that universe and if anything changes with that knowledge. As a standalone book though, this was excellent. I highly recommend it for all high fantasy enjoyers.

A disappointing pre-quel graphic novel to the Netflix pre-quel series, The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance.
The story focuses on Ordon of Stone-in-the-Wood during the Arathim Wars in Thra. He is tasked with finding the Dual Glaive, which the Stonewood gelflings think is their only chance to defeat the arachnid army, and must travel to the Caves of Grot to find it.
The story is uninspired, the artwork mediocre at best, and it's rife with inconsistencies when comparing it to the original film, the series, and the other graphic novels and novels that have been released.
I can only recommend this book to the die-hard Henson fans or those who would like to dip their toe into the world of Thra... but there are also better ways of doing that.

An interesting look into the backstories of Ordon and Maudra Fara as well as a general look at Thra a generation before AOR...That being said, while I was interested, I felt like this book was a bit all over the place? It felt very rushed at the ending, the dialogue was VERY exposition heavy which just didn't work for me and the decision to switch artist and colourist for the last issue just felt weird to me?? Like, it was a decent comic and there were some cool panels and scenes but in general it just didn't feel like it all came together and created a cohesive story seeped in Thra like some of the other Dark Crystal projects.

Stonewood village is protected by its warrior gelflings, none more gifted than Ordon - but when the wicked Arathim close in, he has mere days to find the Dual Glaive and defend his people, all while attempting to keep the rebellious Princess Fara alive when she follows him into the wilderness. Addiss & Andelfinger provide an engaging tale set within The Dark Crystal lore, the soft touch of its artwork and likeable cast a treat for avid fans and newcomers alike. Can they be sure this Glaive is real enough to save their people?

I enjoyed the art and dynamic panels, the colours were really strikingly done and the panels were easy to follow. I love the world of The Dark Crystal and it was great to see some familiar characters and a storyline that has been mentioned before. I just wish it was longer and more fleshed out! But I understand with it being in a comic format why it is a simple story. The story was still enjoyable and had me chuckling to myself in places.

I am a total sucker for anything Dark Crystal related. So another one goes into the collection. Love how it leads into the Age Of Resistance series on Netflix. Always looking forward to the next installment.

Loved the art, the story was okay. Even though, it’s nice to see some places visualized that only come up in the book. Also, this isn’t an adaptation of Age of Resistance like I originally thought, but a prequel story to characters that appear in the show, this one happening maybe 30 thrine prior.

I can't seem to get enough of these stories.

This is the first part of a trilogy, and takes place just before the "Age of Resistance" Netflix show came out.

A simple story, good art, and continual fleshing out of the the amazing world of Thra.

I dig it.

Not a huge fan of the art or the fact that the panels jump in the story some times but it's a good prequel to the Netflix show.

I enjoyed this book about Ordon and Fara and the dual glaive, the art was wonderful but I think it suffered a little in comparison to the show. I know its a different in format but this story felt more like episodes from an animated series as opposed to the depth of the tv series. A good edition to anyone who wants more of the same world but I would go in with the understanding that the two formats are different.

A brief story about how Ordon wields the dual glaive. It's an easy read with a few themes here there, and it still feels like Thra.
