I Am Definitely, Probably Enough (I Think): Revelations on the Journey to Self-Love

Rate this book
Begin your journey to self-love with inspiring messages of hope as well as actionable moments from Instagram artist Tori Press.

Life is a journey. And even though everyone’s journey is different and unique, we all share one thing that binds us together—our search for self-acceptance and self-love.

Half the time, we feel like we have no idea what we’re doing—and that’s okay. It’s something that author and Instagram artist Tori Press knows all too well. In I Am Definitely, Probably Enough (I Think), Press uses the power of image to tackle the major themes in her life that keep her from loving herself—questions about self-worth, fluctuating self-esteem, anxiety, depression, external pressures from society, body image, and so on. She may not have all the answers, but she’s trying, and half the time that’s all that really matters.

Practicing self-love takes patience, devotion, and a little bit of heart. Now you can be inspired by the honest advice and understanding Press provides to help you continue, or even start, your own journey to self-love.

This is a charming, lovely little book that tells of the author's struggles with depression and anxiety through colorful, paradoxically cheerful pages. Press talks about her past with honesty and a bit of humor, using colorful text and cartoon illustrations. She goes into how therapy helped and what to expect (and not) from therapy, and is reassuring and vulnerable as she talks about the ups and downs and constant evolution of being a person with some serious issues who is learning to embrace herself and find some peace and joy. This will be relatable to many people, and it walks a line nicely in being encouraging and cheerful but not patronizing or minimizing.

If ever there was a cheerful little book about sometimes debilitating depression and anxiety, this would be it.

I read a digital ARC of this book for the purpose of review.

I AM DEFINITELY, PROBABLY ENOUGH (I THINK): REVELATIONS ON THE JOURNEY TO SELF-LOVE
BY TORI PRESS

I commend Tori Press for sharing with us the importance of self-love and the mindset that we are all enough and worthy of self compassion. Tori shares her battles with body images and her experiences of getting therapy when she dropped out of graduate school. Her main mantra is to tell ourselves that we are all enough. Life is full of challenges on our journey that we face. It is okay not to be perfect all the time. It is okay to make mistakes. She lists meditation and therapy are instrumental on her journey to self acceptance.

This was a gem and a super short book filled with Tori's illustrations. I think I will buy it when it publishes because the ARC was choppy to read because throughout most of the book her illustrations and messages were interrupted by Simon & Schuster's constant copyright pages instructing not to quote until publication, etc. throughout the ARC. For this I am deducting one star for I think that Tori has an important message but those copyright messages really took the enjoyment out of the ARC. The writing was somewhat small so I wouldn't recommend buying this book in Kindle format but I think it is a very uplifting and positive message that we can all enjoy in print format on our bad days. The message is valuable and it is so short but meaningful that some might really appreciate during life's ups and downs. I highly recommend this book to everybody whom feels like they need to do everything in life perfectly. Nobody is perfect. Life is sometimes challenging. We are all enough exactly as we are.

5 worthy stars!

Wow. I really need to contact my bookstore so I can buy a copy of this because people, it's that good. It almost made me teary in parts because some things, ok the majority of all, of what Tori says is so relatable to me. I really enjoyed the layout of this as it made it a fun read. It's a cross between a graphic novel and picture book. So easy and quick to read but a pretty special book in my mind. We all could do with the positive self talk, especially this year. I highly recommend this, especially for those with anxiety and low self esteem.

In this quick mini book, Tori packs in her story of life with depression, anxiety and struggling with her so called imperfections which really, make us all unique and different in our own way!

We see how Tori's self love journey has been for her as she went through therapy with lovely hand drawn illustrations and simple but effective captions too.

Many thanks to the publishers for allowing me to review this book for them!

Review to be added to Amazon UK and US on 1st January 2021 – publication day!

I thought that this was such a great book and it left me with a lot of positive thoughts.

It was well written and easy to read and follow. I liked the points that were highlighted and the focus on anxiety, stress and depression as at the moment in my role at work I am dealing with this more and more and I have definitely seen an increase in the number of cases and it does affect me at times too. This book reassures you that you are not alone in your thoughts too, which is sometimes something you need to be told even though you do already know it!

I take anti-anxiety tablets and I am not ashamed of that to help me get through the day at both work and at home and I do feel I would have struggled more with this over the lockdown and this book has given me motivation and it is a book that I would pick up more than once too.

It is 5 stars from me for this one, it was wonderful from start to finish and it is definitely one that I will be recommending! Very highly recommended!

✨ "Even if you're not exactly where you want to be, it’s okay to be wherever you are."

This might look like a collection of inspiring and positive affirmations, but is actually so much more! The book takes a look at the realities of living with mental illnesses such as depression and anxiety, while also reinforcing the fact that self-love and self-care are more journey than destination.

The content is also presented in a fun and engaging manner that's easy to understand, personal and without being overly-preachy or technical. The short messages and vibrant illustrations made this a quick but enjoyable and relatable read.

This book is everything. We need so much more encouragement than we did in the past and this book has that and then some. Adorable illustrations accompany amazing little quotes and tidbits! We all need to work a bit on our self-acceptance and giving ourselves a bit a grace. We all need to cut ourselves some slack and realize we are not, and never will be, perfect! I love that Press created a book that brings us those messages in a whimsical way! This is the perfect gift for the holidays and EVERY DAY!!

The title itself made me excited to read the book! Anxiety, depression and several other Mental Issues have become very common these days but what hasn't been normalised is treating them with care and also going to a therapist. It's high time we did that. And this book manages to put forward it's point! It's okay not to be okay! It's okay not to perfect! It's okay not being the BEST and it's okay if we see a Therapist. The book is a quick read and is full of colourful illustrations. I loved the way the author has kept it fun yet the point is conveyed in a beautiful way! This is a book which can be and should be read by everyone right from teenagers because thanks to the increasing competition and criticism in today's world, we must know that It's Okay to Be Perfect-ish !

Somehow Toni looked into my brain, she read my mind, gave words to my thoughts, accompanied it with pictures and published it in this perfect book.

I want to make reading this book a weekly ritual.

As someone who struggles with anxiety and has gone through the entire cycle multiple times, I can totally relate to her.

While reading this book, all I could think was this: let's be friends Tori.

Wow is all I can say. Loved it. The book is sheer perfection.

A beautifully illustrated guide to self-acceptance and self-love by author and Instagram artist Tori Press. Although if you've read aroung the subject, there's not much new here on the topics of self-worth, self-esteem, anxiety, depression, external pressures from society, and body image, the illustrations make this an engaging and encouraging book.

Just wow the book is so colorful even when she’s talking about her anxiety days in her depression days and for me I deal with more in my life than just general anxiety and depression I also have quite a smattering of borderline personality disorder with my cocktail, as well as bipolar two, ADHD, CPTSD and I have started becoming more questioning as to if I might potentially be highly functioning autistic and have OCD tendencies As of recently I went through a tremendously hard time with it only dealing with the mental health problems that I had already had and that I was questioning but I went through having postpartum at lasted for quite a long time because of the fact that I had twins and that my body took a lot longer to detox from the hormonal change. I still feel like personally I am still dealing with a little bit of the remnants of postpartum but I’m very hopeful that for me personally I’m getting to a point where I am getting better. And I feel like at the very end of her book where she’s talking about being able to still accept your self and be able to be your own best lover, best friend, advocate. Despite the fact that she was dealing with her general anxiety I found that incredibly relatable. I have had an enormous amount of things happened to me in the 40 years of my life and with the biggest hurdles I have to deal with on a day-to-day basis is my mental health and how I deal with things and his females we have to accept the fact that there are things that will happen to our bodies with her it’s pregnancy or menopause or even just going through a menstrual cycle that don’t always make us the most likable creatures to be around for others and for ourselves. And I know for me I do get hung up on the negatives in life Way too easily and I feel like that is primarily because of the fact that I have BPD and you can find better ways to manage your life and your coping skills but you have to be educated on your mental health when you’re struggling you have to put yourself in a hard vulnerable position of admitting you do need help and owning up to past issues and past hurts that you have dealt with or that you might not have dealt with but that you know you need to come to terms with like I do when it comes to my CPTSD. Life in general is hard and difficult to navigate for everyone but it’s how we get to a place of acceptance despite our struggles that makes a difference no matter what it is whether it’s past traumas from abusive relationships or just having a general anxiety issue or just like for me having borderline personality disorder and on top of that having bipolar two to go along with it makes me and the relationship that I had with my brain a very love-hate relationship and it very much so affects how I self perceive myself and how I give myself self-care and self-love. But at the end of the day I know that I can achieve a better life in a more positive way of life
If that is truly what I want in my life you manifest the energy that you put forth into the world

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC in echange for an honest review.

4.5 stars of I'm enough!

This book came in a good moment and I'm so grateful for this opportunity. It made me feel positive about myself.
The book is about the author's self journey to self love and her struggles with anxiety, depression and self doubts. I found this book so encouraging in believing that all these things are part of you being a human and in spite of everything, you still can be happy and be loved and create your own happy nest . If we came to life with its map or guide and living without fights, challenges and difficulties, life won't be interesting at all.

The main issues that the author talk about here in this book touch mainly women such as self image, being perfect and so on, also about the process of going through therapy.

This book was so amazing due to the illustrations that made it so much fun to read, even if the topics were real life serious, it was a good idea. Also, it was short and clear . I'm always reluctant when it comes to read self help books with 300 pages of words and words. It gets boring and tiresome, we just want the most important points of how to do best or be/feel better not a thesis.

I hope that the author will be working on other books like this one that I will be really happy to read and share her good and positive ideas with others.

This book is such a gift. As if Tori's Instagram account wasn't enough inspiration for the masses, now we are lucky enough to have her beautiful drawings and words in physical form - I can't wait for my book to arrive, but this e-ARC will hold me over for now. Tori's words and drawings take us on a journey through her emotional experiences with anxiety, depression, and generally being a human. Her handwriting is SO visually pleasing on its own, let alone when combined with the gorgeous watercolors that look like they were created by a particularly artistic rainbow. Reading this e-ARC was a whole visual experience and I feel calmer for having looked at her creations. Not to mention, the messages she shares are so applicable and uplifting. She uses some lovely metaphors to get at the heart of how we ALL feel sometimes (e.g. mental pressure cooker). I could go on and on, but my words don't do Tori's work justice. Get it for yourself, and then pat yourself on the back - you deserve it. Thank you Tori Press, Adams Media, and NetGalley for the e-ARC in exchange for my honest review. 5/5 stars.

This book was received as an ARC from Adams Media in exchange for an honest review. Opinions and thoughts expressed in this review are completely my own.

I am going to keep saying over and over that I LOVE THIS BOOK! This book was so brilliantly constructed and brilliantly written that it was just what the doctor ordered. I loved the colorful word art and the approach Tori Press took in writing this book was genius. Everyone no matter how old will benefit in some way shape or form will benefit from this book. All of us have that voice in your head that you have to be perfect in order to be happy in life and the truth is, YOU DON'T and Tori does a remarkable job conveying that in her own way.

We will consider adding this title to our Self Help collection at our library. That is why we give this book 5 stars.

This is a great book for those who deal with anxiety or wish to understand what anxiety is. As soon as I started reading and looking through the illustrations, I felt so seen.

This book was raw and honest. It’s a great gift for yourself or for someone who you know might need it.

When you’re constantly telling yourself a story, you genuinely start to believe it. Especially, when you’re a perfectionist. For me this book was a quick reminder, with the use of drawings and words, of a few things:
1. That it’s okay to not have it all figured out
2. That it’s okay to be scared of getting it wrong
3. That’s it’s okay to be rejected, to fail, to not be on the path you mapped out for yourself
4. That growth is not a linear road nor is it meant to be clean
5. That you’re never alone even if you feel like you are

I will definitely be picking this up often!

Artist Tori Press has a gorgeous instagram account @revelatori showcasing her artwork & now her first book is out in the world! ‘I Am Definitely, Probably Enough (I Think)’ is a quick, short read that pairs her beautiful artwork with her thoughts on living with anxiety. This gift book is a self-care read that will make other people with anxiety feel like they’re not the only one who experiences the world a little differently than they’d ideally live it. I read it one afternoon. I thought it was wonderful & would appeal to people of all ages who’ve thought about their anxiety. It would make a lovely gift for yourself or someone you care about.

I've been following Tori for the last few years on Instagram @revelatori. I love the way she writes about her experiences with therapy and understanding her mental health issues and their volatility. I truly relate to her work and experiences. Drawing and writing out her thoughts as analogies is a way of therapy for her and it inspired me to open up to my friends and family about my anxiety and depression too. I bookmark her posts and read them again when I need to and now I have my very own little book to pick up and read whenever I need a pick me up, a calming down, a realisation that other people are going through this too, and most importantly a reminder that this too shall pass.

Thank you NetGalley and publishers for an ARC.

Thus is a wonderful and encouraging read! Full of positivity and acknowledgment of emotions, Press shares her raw, honest self and it is refreshing. Many self help books are centered around finding a solution, but this book does not share a "just do this" mentalotly. Acceptance of who you are, unique and beautiful, should not need to change to please others. Also the awareness of our hurt and insecurities was very powerful!!

I would recommend this to those feeling lonely, isolated, happy, and joyful!! It is also full of great illustrations.

I received a copy of this book for a fair and honest review. This book came into my life when I was feeling really down. There were parts with the illustrations that made me laugh and see that I was being far to hard on myself. There is serious undertone to this but it is wrapped in feel good humor and that made it so enjoyable for me to read. I was left feeling far more positive when I did finish it. I have been sitting on this review for while. I have gone back and read parts of it when I need a little boost.
