Katie is unpleasantly surprised to find out her family is moving into a new house after her mom’s wedding in the latest addition to the Cupcake Diaries series.
Katie’s mom is getting married! Katie and her three best friends couldn’t be happier and have so much fun pitching in with getting ready for the big day—especially with cake testing! But when Katie finds out her mom’s marriage means her family has to move, suddenly the wedding isn’t as joyous an occasion. What will life be like in a new home with a new family?
Coco Simon always dreamed of opening a cupcake bakery, but she’s afraid she would eat all the profits. When she’s not daydreaming about cupcakes, Coco edits children’s books and has written close to 100 books for children, tweens, and young adults, which is a lot less than the number of cupcakes she’s eaten. Cupcake Diaries is the first time Coco has mixed her love of cupcakes with writing.
Okay as an adult I can sit here and point out the flaws with this book all day but the fact of the matter is I read two books in two hours and I've never been happier. On a completely unrelated note, someone should probably stop me...
They changed Katie's dad's name and because of that they changed the restaurant name too? Chez Daniel sounds better but seriously? Also the TYPOS! They referred to Alexis as Alex. Twice at least. I get this is a kids book but I was reading it to my daughter and kept stumbling throughout the series this book was by far the worst with Typos.
Beyond the typos...
Katie is my favorite and I see there is one more book left in the series. In my opinion the series should have started and ended with Katie. OR had one more book about all of them moving up to high school and left it at that.
The thing that bothered me about this book is the way the grown ups went about doing things. Katie's mom wasn't a horrible scatter brained person. I don't believe that she would forget that Katie didn't want to move from her childhood home and I also don't believe that she and Mr Green would have just gone out and picked a house and not had the girls involved.... at least in a conversation. Other wise, I love that Katie's mom got a good man and Katie now has a father. Why they had her calling MDB her "dessert father" is beyond my understanding. I think a kid is more likely to call him their bio-dad vs anything that sounds sweet or good when it's obvious his wife wants him to be a good dad more than he does.
The girls have over 100 cupcakes to bake...and they have six weeks to do it! They also have to help plan a party, help Katie move to her new house, and make sure everything runs smoothly!
It’s good but what happen to Snicky the puppy? He only got one mention in book 29 and then he seems to have disappeared this time. Please tell me I’m not the only one who noticed this.
“The cupcake cure.” - nice reference to the first book! - The first thing I noticed in this book was that they changed Katie’s dad’s name from Mark Donald Brown to Mark Daniel Brown (that, or the author forgot…). Other than that, this was a nice story about Katie facing more changes in her life with moving to a new house and her mom and Jeff/Mr. Green getting married.
