I’ve always been different, but I don’t care. I know who I am—a high-strung computer whiz and trained operative who finds it challenging to relate to others. I never cared about friends or fitting in, and women only served me one purpose. Until Jordan Collins entered my life—she turned my world upside down in the most amazing way... and then I blew it. But I refuse to give up. I don’t want to return to the solitary life I once had. I’m trying to get Jordan back, but she isn’t making it easy. With the revitalization underway and constant changes at every turn, the town and its new inhabitants are forcing me out of my comfort zone—Jordan is forcing me out of my comfort zone. Can I be the kind of man that Jordan needs? Or will my hang-ups cause me to be alone…for the rest of forever?
The Rest of Forever is the first book in the Falls Village Collection. A collection from various authors of RomantiConn. The story of Callan Black and his friends begins in Berry’s Compatible Companions Trilogy and will continue throughout the Falls Village Collection.
Kitty Berry grew up an only child who never wished for a sibling in a small town in Connecticut. After graduating with a degree in Early Childhood Special Education, she began teaching in the field and started to raise a family. Her literary influences happened later in life when she stumbled upon The Pilot’s Wife by Anita Shreve after seeing it featured on the Oprah Show. It was her late mother’s (whose name she uses as a pen name) desire of becoming a writer that prompted Kitty to create a contemporary romantic series. Being a creative person by nature who came into writing during a time in her life when the busy balance of career and family made her crave an escape into the world of romance, Kitty took that desire and turned it into a romantic series that offers the reader multidimensional characters. In 2013, she published her first novel from The Stone Series, Sliding. Since then she has written 10 other novels in that series, among them Stoned, Second Chances, Surrender, Starting Over, and Silence. The final installment, Survivor was released in 2016. A holiday edition was released in late 2018. Since then, Berry has released a trilogy titled, The Anatomy of Love and written a carry-over stand-alone novel, Vines of Ivy. In 2019, she released the Compatible Companions Trilogy. Because angst-ridden, plot-driven, women's contemporary romances mesmerize Kitty, Berry writes only in that genre. While each book in The Stone Series can stand alone with its own story, Berry’s intention was to create carry-over characters to satisfy the need of the reader to know more after each novel ends. As an avid reader herself, Kitty enjoys the feeling of being there with the characters inside the story and often finds herself wanting to know more about them, missing them when the story is over, and becoming excited all over again when she discovers those familiar characters in subsequent novels. It is her hope that The Stone Series will do the same for her readers. Kitty is married to a man she met in graduate school and has three boys who are almost men. Kitty recently founded RomantiConn (a romance author signing event annually held in CT) and is currently working on the Falls Village anthology hybrid with her fellow RomantiConn authors. This is a really original take on the second chance theme with a socially awkward hero who whilst working an operation meets the woman he let down in the past.
I loved the relationship between the two main characters with their constant push and pull.Jordan, the heroine, isn’t a doormat and she isn’t going to let Callan walk over her, not that he’s the kind of gut who would do that; still, he really has to work for this second chance.
There’s suspense and a ‘Beast’ to add to the drama. At times I felt the plot could have moved a bit faster but overall it was a really enjoyable read, and I shall look out for more books by this author in the future...I received a copy of this book from the author via Quirky Blind Date with a Book
This is Callender and Jordans story.Callender has always been different and he meets Jordan and thing go off the charts until he messes up.Can Callender fix thing with Jordan the love of his life.Read the book you'll love it .Lots of emotions and some hot times
After making the biggest mistake of his life, Callan Black goes undercover to help figure out who is stalking a friend of his. But while he is in Falls Village he comes face to face with Jordan and realizes that an apology is not going to be enough to win her back. Will taking himself out of his comfort-zone, loads of groveling and finally understanding the real meaning of true love be enough for Jordan to accept him again? Kitty Berry has outdone herself with this beginning of a new series. The reader cannot help but fall in love with her characters, her storylines have so many twists and turns you will feel like you just got off a roller coaster and the emotions just drip off the pages. This will become you next favorite new series. Simply Awesome!!
This is the first book in the Falls Village Collection and what brilliant start. It brings in many of the characters from Kitty Berry’s Compatible Companions Trilogy. The story is non stop twists and turns, beautiful love scenes, and lots of humor including a dog called Beast with Callan who is a genius but not adept at social niceties or closeness and an operative and Jordan a New York psychology student who have fallen for each other. Callan goes undercover in Maine to help find out who is stalking a friend of his and breaks off with Jordan via text. Going undercover takes Callan out of his comfort zone. You can not help fall in love with the character of Callan who for all his genius and awkwardness has a beautiful heart as demonstrated in how he handles his assignment. When Callan faces Jordan and apologizes will she accept or make his life really difficult? There is so much action and so many wonderful characters in this story. This book will make you fall in love and want to read all the books coming in this series which will be written by multi RomantiConn authors. I love Kitty Berry's amazing and brilliant work and this is her best effort yet.
Perhaps I should have read another series first, this was the 1st in a series but it picks up like it's in the middle of something. It jumps around, lots of weird extra information where I believe the author is trying to tie in her other books and characters (refer to my 1st sentence now). I like sex in books, I prefer it honestly. But this book is nothing but sex. The heroine hasn't even had 1 scene in this book yet but we've had 4 flashback sex scenes, 1 random jerk off session with references to more and the guys all just talk about sex non stop. Owning their wives pussys and getting it all the time. Give me something else to keep this story moving! I'm not invested in this couple who the book is about because they start out broken up and only flashbacks are about sex. So....there are more books to be read....
This is a romance unlike any other. Callen is one of the most original characters I've read in a long time. he could easily have been made a flat stereotypical character. I've read countless stores with characters displaying similar aspects, and none have felt as real as Callen did. The love story between Callen and Jorden is complex. This is not a cookie-cutter romance, and I love it. There are layers to their relationship that are slowly peeled away, drawing us deeper into their story. I especially love the trips they take. It is so telling for these characters. I was smiling from ear to ear. Wonderful story.
I LOVED this book!! Callan and Jordan are a second chance romance set in the fictional town of Falls Village, ME. I think Callan was a really good representation of a genius mind trying to wrap itself around love. This book was completing engaging and I couldn't wait to get back to it every time I had to put it down!! Callan is definitely a member of the harem and his friends are inching their way in!!
This one was hard to get into. I was lost the first 30% or so. There were just too many characters and past events thrown in from Berry’s earlier books, and it made it cumbersome and difficult for me to follow. The cadence of the story didn’t work for me either. There were too many gaps in time, playbacks of history, and then intros of even new characters for the remainder of the series.
It took me a while to get into the book and characters. I wish that certain things happened earlier than when it actually happens. But I did enjoy how the characters reacted to the “news” at the end.
THE REST OF FOREVER is the first book in the Falls Village collection, a collection of books from various authors of RomantiConn. Kitty Bery has written several books in the series.
I needed a little time to get into the story. I felt a little overwhelmed by all the names and characters, but I pushed through and am glad I did. Callan was a unique hero, I haven't read about a man like him before. He is a socially awkward genius, but his heart is beautiful and good, and he is such a sweet, romantic, brave person. Jordan is a strong woman, who made Callan work for his second chance, and she was right to do so. Callan and Jordan's relationship is like a union, with lots of layers. Every time I discovered a new layer, I got drawn in deeper. They have so much chemistry it is hard to miss.
I enjoyed the friends dynamic and can't wait to read the other stories.
I like Kitty Berry's writing style. The pacing was okay, although sometimes I would have wanted it to move a little faster.
If you like a story that will keep you on the edge of your seat with its twists and turns that will make you feel all kinds of emotions and laugh till you cry, then The Rest Of Forever is a must-read for you.
I received a free copy from the author and am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
This was the first book I have read by this author but it won’t be the last!
I fell in love with Callan and Jordan. Jordan was in love with Callan but then one day he just left and sent a text saying it was over. She was hurt and couldn’t understand what had happened. She is full of sass and is going to make Callan suffer for the way he had treated her in the past.
Callan has a job that he can’t really talk about so her thought the easiest thing to do when he got a new assignment was to just end things. He never really liked being around people or them touching him until his two best friends showed up. When he became friends with Ace and Elliot he started to understand that friends was something he not only wanted but needed. Then Jordan showed up and he got better around people he fell in love with her.
“You up in this attic, jumping around and banging the shit out of your head because you’re in love with her and fucked up. I honestly can’t wait to see how this is going to play out. What in the hell were you thinking?”
This book was sweet and funny and I can not wait to read more from this series!
I don’t know what I loved more Callan and Jordan or Beast finally winning over Callan.
Callan is simply one of the most unique and layered male characters I have read. He is brave, smart, awkward, funny and romantic. I loved that he made mistakes and was not perfect when trying to build this relationship with Jordan. Their journey seemed authentic. Jordan...dang! She made Callan work! Well done! He totally deserved it and I appreciated a strong women who knows herself.
Although this book focuses on Callan and Jordan we see their friends and family. We see the bonds and support they lend to each other. The guys banter is a highlight.
I can’t forget the little nugget that stole my heart in this book Beast! The chemistry of Callan and Beast I mean even writing this review thinking about it has me laughing.
This book has a fantastic balance of romance and humor. I for one am packed and ready to make my move to Falls Village!
I want to go to Falls Village maybe live there because this series just got me right from the beginning. I kind of knew Jordan, Callan and the rest of the gang from a prior series so it was nice to visit with them again but Callan and Jordan have a great relationship till Callan bails on her. When Callan realizes he may have lost the only person who makes him feel whole he fights tooth and nail to get her back. The book doesn’t end in a cliffhanger but it left it open for the next book which I can’t wait to read.
I have read a few of the other books in this series and I was thrilled to finally read the one that started it all! There are a lot of names and characters thrown at you, but you’ll keep track, just keep reading! I loved this story and I loved the romance! It really was magical and heart wrenching and absolutely hysterical at times!! I will finish reading this series and dream about living in Falls Village!
This is a small town second chance romance. Callan is an extremely intelligent but socially awkward MMC. He and Jordan have what he believes to be something special until Callan ruins it.
Callan is determined to win back the only girl that has ever made him feel but there are obstacles in their way.
This book is a part of a collection and it would be helpful to have read the other books in the collection to understand the back stories referred to in the book.
Oh my! The Rest of Forever is an unexpectedly amazing book that hits every mark. Cal and Jordan make a perfectly imperfect couple with the complications that most people encounter but with added issues. Their love, their angst, their 'moments' are just steamy and dreamy. From the very beginning, this story literally sucks you in. Clear your calendar because you'll be thinking about this book until it's done and then it will still stick with you. Excellent, excellent work Kitty Berry!
I would have given it a 1 star but I did finish it. My first book by Kitty Berry. Despite the book-cover I started, and that because I read the kindle edition. I would not have picked it up if it was a paperback. I found there were way too many characters in this tale, it was hard to keep them straight. The storyline had potential. Him genius on the spectrum scale, Her a Psychology student. But it lacked so so much.
I discovered this author on Tiktok I'm glad I did. Full disclaimer I'm not usually a fan of second chance I have to sit this one is very original and well done. The main characters are great together it has suspense and felt connected to the story I will definitely be reading more Kitty Berry and this series
Although this book had it moments that kept you going and there was some good steamy scenes between characters, I did find this one really hard to get into and finish
