Wife and mother of four, my days have been reduced to begging for the littlest to sleep so I can have time to write my books. I'm blaming my reduced schedule on Cupcake.
Facebook is the best place to find me, or you can sign up for my newsletter here (https://leannryans.com) to keep up with current and upcoming projects as well as special promotions and such.

I grew up on Sci-fi and Fantasy books with some of my favorite authors being Anne McCaffery and Mercedes Lackey. In 2013 I discovered paranormal romance and delved into a whole new world. After reading Omegaverse stories from Addison Cain and Nora Ash, I had the idea for The Omega Prize and decided to take a shot at writing a book of my own. The beginning was rough, it took two months to write the first five chapters, but as my 2019 New Year’s resolution I said I was going to finish the story and committed to writing every day. It didn't take long for the book to begin telling itself, and from there I just kept going.

Most of my books are Omegaverse, but they span other genres like Sci-Fi, dystopian, and historical barbarians. There is even a small-town Enemies to Lovers Romance story in there. They main contain dark elements but I wouldn't call them dark romance since my alphas tend to be a little mushy in the center. I promise there's always a HEA.

This is one heavy TW story. Guess the title should have been more of a warning. On-page abuse of so many kinds.

Omegaverse stories usually have a beautiful bonding moment, with kotting, purring, and a ton of heat. This one had some of the emotions, but there wasn't enough of the couple bonding at the end to repair all the brutality stuck in my brain.

Huge spoilers if you want to know the details.

I did like the writing, so I'll give the second book a go!

Out of all of Leann Ryans' Omegaverse books that I've read, this one is my favorite (so far). It has a bit of a darker edge than some of her other Omegaverse books, but this isn't a dark Omegaverse story (compared to others in the genre). This is a great alien PNR/Omegaverse. I think people who like alien PNR, who have never read Omegaverse before, would enjoy this book. The writing style was easy to read, very smooth, and this was just a really enjoyable story.

Some reviews have mentioned cheating. In my mind there was no cheating, but this book won't be safe for all. I included details in the tag at the end of the review, for those who want to know.

With this book, I've really noticed a growth in the author's writing style. With her first book, The Omega Prize, I felt the plot was a bit predictable. With Raider's Treasure, while I loved the setting, I felt there was more telling of action than showing. The characters felt a bit flat - there could have been more character development. With Into Darkness the world seemed so interesting, it was just so short I wanted more. Sometimes her heroines will have long inner mono's where I tune out.

With Used, I felt like the characters were fully embodied. I found both the MCs, Leir and Elise, very likable. There was suspense throughout the entire book, and I thought the show vs. tell issue was executed well. This was a smooth read for me. 👍 My attention drifted some between 70-85%, I think some of the stuff that happened during that time could have been tightened up, but it wasn't a big deal.

I really enjoy Leann's Omegaverse novels. She always gives us strong, tough, growly alphas that still protect and cherish their omegas (they can be dirty and dominate without being degrading like she shows in her novels). I loved both Leir and Elise. There was something that drew them to each other from the beginning. They had to overcome ALOT to get their HEA, but they persevered and their love and bond was stronger for it.

Is this darker than what she usually writes? Yes, definitely. Is this one of the darkest Omegaverse books I’ve read? No, definitely not. Do I think there is a great blend of the dark and light in this book? Most definitely.

I want to address something that I read in another review of this book and it’s my personal opinion so take it as nothing more than that ... cheating in this storyline. I DID NOT read it that way at all. I am a hardcore, hard limit, hard NO reader when it comes to cheating in books. I won’t read them. If I read a cheating book unaware, my review will ALWAYS reflect that. The scene in question happens prior to any established relationship between the main characters.

I actually really enjoyed both of the main characters of this story. They read like what you would expect in both an Alpha and Omega. Both strong in a way that makes them characters worth reading. And it ends in a HEA with no cliffhanger! There is also an opening for more from this world with different characters.

This book is completely different from what this author usually writes, which to me is fantastic. When an author continuously writes the “same type” or follows the “same formula” in their characters, the writing can get stale and boring, that is not what is happening with the author. That shows growth in her writing and experience.

If you’ve read Omegaverse before and are looking for a storyline with more of a edge then this book is what you’re looking for. It does have some triggers that readers need to be aware of, and that’s the dark aspect of this story. Overall, I recommend this book and hope you add it to your Omegaverse library.

TW/CW: Sexual abuse and rape

Darker than the second book in the series, Used is the unhappy tale of an Omega who eventually gets her happy ending. But. She suffers quite a bit before she's allowed to get there, and her Alpha does too. (Not R. Lee Smith levels of suffering, by any means, but definitely more than I've seen in any of Ryan's other books that I've read.) Even so, as far as het OV goes, this still isn't a dark book.

I found I enjoyed this one quite a bit more than I expected to.

Used is a slow starter. We're solely with Elise until 25% of the way in. There was a lot of world building happening—The Curse of the First Book in a Series—and it did bog things down for a while. It's hard to say if it was necessary and worth the space taken: it had a lot of impact on Elise's personal story, but very little in the second book, where much of it is barely mentioned for why the Center made some of the changes it did.

The Alpha in this story, Leir, seems to be the big point of contention in the reviews—. But he's pretty easy to like after a short while, and he's far from the worst Alpha in this story. He's one of the better ones, simply because he has some basic decency and cares. Not only about Elise, but also about all the members of his crew, their families, and his community. Even the "comfort" women on board are allegedly treated pretty respectfully, given their profession. Most of his creep factor is biological OV shenanigans trying to override his brain with instincts, and that's just par-the-course for the genre.

Our Omega, Elise, is not terribly distinctive as a character—Generic Nice Omega strikes again—but she has a good head on her shoulders, and it was rather heartbreaking how hard she tried to do the right thing to get a positive outcome in her life, how hard she had worked for it, only to be treated so badly and repeatedly abused. This world is a really shit one to be an Omega in, no matter what you do. She gets a big dose of, "be careful what you wish for," in this tale, to be sure. But she's very likable and easy to read, with no forced, obnoxious, unrealistic personality to create conflict for "drama factor."

So. If you're already an OV fan, this is totally worth reading. It will seem pretty tame and light compared to a lot of the genre offerings. If you're new to OV, this isn't a bad place to dip your toes in. It's not the sweetest end of the OV spectrum, but it's far from the darkest.

This was a good romance book, but just an ok omegaverse book.

Elise is a human omega approaching her 20th birthday. Rather than hide, she decides to turn herself in to the authorities. Knowing what this means, she thinks she can get a better outcome than a life of uncertainty and fear. She is matched to the son of the Farcon 1 chancellor, Trevin. Her disappointment of Trevin not even bothering to pick her up himself is interrupted by pirates. Of course there are 2 gorgeous Alphas; Leir and Vax who abduct her. While Leir is the “lead” alpha, Vax wants her just as bad. But her body, and heart, seem to want Leir.

Elise is a typical omega, quiet and mostly compliant. But she does show some inner strength. And it really comes through after some horrific treatment by Trevin. Leir is indeed a sexy alpha but he does take advantage of Elise in one scene that I didn’t particularly care for. On the whole, I do like Elise and Leir together. His second in command, Vax, has a few humorous lines, and it was enough to peak my interest in him. I’d like to see him get his own story and omega.

If you’re looking for a typical dark omegaverse story, this book won’t be for you. It’s too sweet. Leir and Elise don’t even bond until 80% in, and the book itself ended at 92% with the rest of the pages dedicated to a list of the author’s other books, and some sample chapters from 2 of the books. If the setting were an English country manner with the characters dressed in 18th century garb, this could very well be a lightly smutty regency romance book. While there are some non-con scenes, if you prefer your omegaverse more on the light side, or you are just beginning to dip your toes into this genre, then this is a good book for you.

this book was so amazing. Leann Ryans books are usually on the lighter side, but this one was a lot darker than normal for her and it was awesome! i loved it. page turner for sure. i kept flipping the pages as fast as i could to see what was gonna happen next. you could feel the tension creeping up with every page turned. just knowing that something bad was gonna happen. but it was totally not what i was expecting! and when disaster strikes the tension was wracked up even higher wondering how the heck they were gonna get out of there. loved this book! cant wait to read her next book!

AUTHOR HAS WOEFULLY INADEQUATE CONTENT WARNINGS!!

TW: description of rape in the book ⬇️
Graphic, on page rape by chapter four by a doctor that was ONLY described as “sexual abuse” in the content warnings. Mind you, this doctor raped the FMC with his fingers and a speculum, ejaculated on her, then pushed his semen into her anus. That is NOT simply “sexual abuse.” The legal definition of sexual abuse does not match the actions here. This is RAPE.

This event was then handled so poorly that I cannot keep reading.

After reading other reviews that claim the MMC cheats on the FMC (not listed in the content warnings), I have decided I am done.

Will likely never revisit this author again, since they don’t care enough to have proper content warnings.

Compulsive Omegaverse read! 4.5 stars
Used is the first instalment in the Omega Market series by author Leann Ryans, and I found it to be a compulsive read. It not only contains oodles of heat but also a number of dark themes and scenes: kidnap, violence, non-consent plus fully descriptive erotic scenes which leave nothing to the imagination. The heroine, Elise, is certainly put through the mill and it is at times an emotional read, which may be triggering for some. It is a darker than other books I have read by the author but reflects what could happen in an Omegaverse world where Alphas are dominant.
It is set on a future Earth, where contact with other planets and species exists. In this world Omegas are a rare commodity and the authorities both encourage and compel them to come forward so that they can be sold to the highest bidder.
Elise volunteers to be sold, turning herself in to the collection center. She knows that as an Omega if she stays on the streets she will in time fall prey to an Alpha. With the help of the center, however unpleasant being sold may sound, she will at least find herself with an Alpha who has the resources for her to live comfortably and hopefully one she may even come to care for.
I found Elise’s time spent in the center, where she is readied for sale, a fascinating read, enabling the reader to get to know her and the world she inhabits. Her time there is not always easy and I liked the fact that she is a strong character, even when faced with some shocking treatment. Indeed, her strength of character is increasingly tested throughout the book as the plot unfolds, as she faces one test after another.
Once a buyer is found, Elise embarks on her journey to meet Trevin her buyer and betrothed. However, her path crosses with another Alpha, Leir, a space pirate, who has his own agenda. I found Leir a bit harsh at times when it comes to his treatment of Elise, but that said it is an Omegaverse and he has his own code of honour. I hugely enjoyed how the author portrayed their relationship and how his growing feelings for Elise make him feel so conflicted. The scenes between them are super-hot and Elise, as an Omega and Leir as an Alpha have no choice in how their bodies react to one another…
What will happen when Elise eventually reaches her destination? To what extent is her future tied to the pirate Leir and what of her betrothed? There is far more at stake than her future alone. I was on pins as to how the situation would resolve itself and who she was destined to spend her future with.
Recommended to readers who enjoy Omegaverse reads and/or fans of sci-fi who hanker after dark erotic reads.

This is the first in the futuristic series about omegas who are sold on an intergalactic market to their alphas. Here, we get Elise, a twenty-year old virgin who has been bought by a wealthy and politically-powerful alpha. Grateful to leave her poverty-stricken life behind, she is on her way to meet him when her spaceship is captured by an Alpha "pirate." Just who will she end up with? I do want to warn potential readers that this contains rape and violence (and, no, it's not perpetrated by the H -- I can't believe I have to say this). Other reviewers are upset about the "cheating." Personally, I don't consider what happens here cheating, but, if this bothers you, you may want to read the other reviews -- in any case, cheating bothers me less than abuse.

I liked this book and do recommend it with a couple of caveats that I'll get to below. Elise is a very likeable and level-headed h; she also ends up having a great deal of agency, which is rare for this genre. Leir, while initially less sympathetic, grows much more so once we learn his backstory and witness his care for Elise. I also really appreciated the author's twin depictions of colonization and class privilege -- even years into the future, two evils that will be very much with us.

That said, the prose didn't always pull me in. The beginning, in particular, was too detailed and the central line of action took too long to get going. While I realize that the author wanted to depict the omega's full experience, I felt that too much information was repeated (we were told over and over again that Elise was poor and had "no choice").

3 1/2 stars. This is much more action-driven than the subsequent book, which concentrates on character. I look forward to reading more of Ms. Ryans' books set in this universe.

A little bit of dark with your pleasure.

This is a great book. It had good character development, good world building and the good raw animalistic Alpha's. Just up my alley. :)

It's also got a bit of darkness and it does have a trigger scene or two, but nothing huge. In general the book is not very dark, but a great entrance to syfi omegaverse. :)

This novel was fairly cleanly written and edited, with not too many typos that I found in the ARC version of this manuscript. The world building of this universe was excellent, just like most of this author's other m/f omegaverse romances. The characterization was competently done, with the heroine being a sympathetic character. The hero was definitely in the grey zone, as far as being a sympathetic character. * spoiler * I enjoyed the novel very much except for one part of the story where the hero engages in some cheating that was very exploitative. If that is a no-go for you, I would skip this novel entirely in favor of this author's other omegaverse series. She has quite a few, and this is the first novel that I have read by her that included the hero cheating on the heroine. * end spoiler * The development of the romantic relationship was natural and organic, considering how action-packed the plot was. The plot and pacing of this book was very exciting, with me turning pages rapidly to find out what was going to happen next. There was surprisingly little angst experienced by the heroine, considering all the massively traumatizing stuff she went through in this novel, and the stakes were very high. That tends to be one of my preferred narrative structures for a romance novel. This novel uses the Virgin and the Bad Boy trope, and also the Mating Bond trope common to omegaverse romances. There is also a variation on the Enemies to Lovers trope in here. The world building in this novel was four stars. The plot and pacing was five stars. The characterization and development of the romantic relationship was four stars. Normally, that would make the combined score of this novel four stars, but because of the story element that I spoil above, I took one star off the combined score for a total of three stars. One of the reasons I started auto buying this author's work is because she wrote m/f omegaverse where the hero was actually heroic instead of being a monster, like most of the other m/f omegaverse romance out there. Some dark omegaverse romances work for me, and some don't. This one did not work for me. This author is no longer an auto buy author for me when she comes out with a new release. I am going to be much more careful from now on about what novels I choose to read and buy of hers. I no longer trust that I will always enjoy the stories that she writes. This novel has a Happy Ever After ending instead of a cliffhanger, so that is a big plus for this novel. I recommend this novel to fans of dark m/f omegaverse romances who are not bothered by the plot spoiler above. I do not plan to buy a keeper copy of this novel for myself.

I've read alot of Omegaverse and I've also read a few books by LR as well. And so I'm a little bummed that this one was simply OK for me. It was problematic at the beginning as it was very monotone and cold. I wasn't feeling anything from the heroine Elise and the way it was written felt like I was simply being told everything instead of experiencing it. So because of that it took a while to really get into the book or even get a feel for the story itself. About the time we get introduced to the hero Leif (30%-ish in I think) is about the time it picked up for me.

However, as interesting as this was (it could've been more so tbh) it never quite picked up for me. The drama with her "mate" and the abuse she experienced at the beginning and from the bad guy didn't feel as upsetting as it could have, ya know? It all boils down to how it's written and told for me which is why I think it didn't feel like a blow to the chest when the bad/disturbing things happened to our heroine.

I found it difficult to connect with Elise because as I mentioned before I felt like I was constantly being told everything instead of experiencing it. Although I did like Leif, but sadly we didn't get to know much about him in the end and that alone was disappointing.

I was also bummed by the lack of romance/tension/buildup to the MCs being together. It felt almost passionless and even though I did want them to choose one another and I knew they'd likely a HEA I didn't feel that spark or chemistry between them. Even with Omegaverse books which can be obscure about chemistry between the MCs because of their biology and instincts it can still exist in the good ones.

So in the end this one just didn't excite me. It was an interesting one-time read but forgettable for me. Though I will check out the next book and maybe the third if the second book is any better than this one.

YUM YUM! SCI-FI BASED OMEGAVERSE ROMANCE? HELL YES!
The story started off a bit slow because maybe the author wanted to build the heroine's life and make it count, so we won't meet the hero until much later.

MALE LEAD is like some kind of Alpha Space Pirate. He won't disappoint, he's got the alpha down to the Capital T. When he first raided our heroine's 'soon-to-be' mate's ship, he found her instead and decided to use her as collateral damage, EXCEPT he also didn't count on him being VERY attracted to her - fact being she's an Omega, and a virgin at that. It's cute to see him fight with his own instincts. His interactions with her are gritty, raw and steamy. My only complain is that after the heroine gets captured by her fiance and both Alpha and Omega gets tortured and abused, there wasn't enough interaction between the MCs anymore. Of course, I did feel like the author built up all that sexual tension only to have it diffused by the being captured by the bad guy.

HEROINE is sweet and submissive, just the way I like my Omegas. She's damned naive. Long ago she promised herself that when she reached 20, she'll turn herself in to the Omega center to find a mate. There she makes friend with a mated Omega and eventually they help her find a rich mate. On her way to meet her mate, their ship got hijacked by pirates and that's how she found herself an unwilling captive of our hero, but there's something about him that calls to her base nature, awakening her Omega desires.

OVERALL not all of Leann Ryans stories are a hit for me, but this one was entertaining in the way that most Omegaverse stories are, and it stays true to it.

I love all of Leann Ryans' books. She does some really interesting things with her take on the Omegaverse. Her books tend to be a little on the lighter side, but this one walks a bit on the darker side.

I really like Elise. She is both worldly and naive. I think it's a really interesting mix. I think that she is really strong, and there is just something about her that attracts most people to her. There's just a sweetness and light to her that people can't avoid.

I'd like to see more in this world, because I would like to see how some of the changes affect what happens next.

I wasn't in the mood for this one but for whatever reason I forced myself to finish it. My true rating would be 2 stars but I gave it another half a star cause I wasn't sure if it was me or the book and I felt guilty.. Anyway, nothing spectacular.. Didn't like certain scenes and nothing erased the bad taste those scenes left me with, though I didn't have a problem with the so called cheating. I just didn't care enough. On to something better, hopefully!

I'm going ahead and giving this 4 stars. It's not the most mind-blowing romance; indeed, some may think it's generic. However, I'd argue that the writing puts this leagues ahead of other omegaverse tales, especially in the world of self-publishing.

Our heroine, Elise, is a breathe of fresh air in the omegaverse genre. She understands that she's omega and thus subjected to all the bs that comes with. Rather than resigning herself to living in the shadows, denying her dynamic, she embraces what little choice she has and tries to make the best of her situation. She is no shrinking violet nor is she "I am woman hear me roar". She knows when to stand up for herself, but also knows sometimes it's better to just stfu. She doesn't argue for the sake of it, either. I found her very likable overall.

Our hero, Leir, is also likeable. Alpha in all the good ways, he has strong morals, has a good cause, and respects Elise, even though she is technically his captive. (Oh, plus, he's beefy af). He never once demeans her or, you know, just decides to take what he wants (with the exception of some dubcon). He tries his best to be a leader and showing her that he cares. He's also alien which is fun!

As far as "darkness", I wouldn't call this dark, overall. However, there are some big trigger warnings that I'd put on it. Sexual assault is there in early chapters, but that doesn't cover enough, imo - there's full blown rape (not by Leir) in later chapters. There's mention of slave trade, obviously some dub con, and pretty severe torture, too. It does, however, end with a HEA, lots of positive change, and some side characters I'd like to see more from. I'd agree with other reviews - there is NO cheating, imo.

If you like omegaverse, HEAs, and Leann Ryans, you'll enjoy this!

I hated the pacing for this book. It was super boring to start out with, a lot of the scenes at the beginning were pointless and just seemed like filler. The romantic leads didn't have very many scenes together and yet somehow by the end were in love. I don't mind the insta love thing but there was none of that here, no real connection. Even the action of the story feel flat.

This Omegaverse book is neither hard to stomach with it's ABO (those aren't blood types) dynamics that can sometimes be very harsh and pushing the dub-con trope. Nor is it as play at living in the Omegaverse and its genre. It really fails squarely in the middle.

It features an Omega who has, surprisingly, decided that she will turn herself in to the Omega collection center rather than be hunted down. She figures that it will turn out better for her in regards to being paired with an alpha, if she isn't underfed and on the verge of heat. She has also decided to "save herself" after having heard she would get a better price. She is a very practical Omega and knows that all is really is, is a commodity and she should try to get the most out of it if she can.

Things don't go as planned for her. The alpha that wins her bid sends someone else to collect her, as he can't be bothered. Her ship them get highjacked by pirates and she gets taken hostage. What's more, she finds herself drawn to the alpha pirate Captain. What a mess?!?

It's a nice change of pace in the Omegaverse scene. Yes, there are alpha-holes and little omegas that are betrayed by their bodies, but there is the fighting of society within this world which I really liked. I left me with a smile on my face. This book will not have you squirmy in your seat as some Omegaverse books do, but it is a good romance for the genre.

Elise has decided to not fight against the law and to turn herself into the Omega center. She hopes that it would at least give her the opportunity to have a better life than the one she was already struggling to survive in. Her journey straights out humiliating but she can bare that as long as her Alpha takes care of her in the end. But nothing in life is ever easy and Elise may regret the decision she has made.

Very good start to a new series. I've enjoyed this author's writing very much and her MF Omegaverse are always a good read. This series is on the darker side as our heroine goes through a few incidents that many will find too much to handle and can be quite triggering. I follow the author on social media and I remember her mentioning she was worry that these scenes may be too much for some readers and may turned them off to the rest of the story. Having read a lot of darker books in this genre, they didn't bother me but I can see where a lot of others may find it offensive. I think she approached them well (at least to me) as there was some pre-warning in her writing to let the reader know something not good was going to happen. Her MF Omegaverse is a lot lighter than what is out there in this genre and she is one of the many authors I recommend for people to start out with who are interested in this genre and wants an introduction.

With that said, I am looking forward to the next book and am wondering if we have already been introduced to the main characters or not.

I will admit that I really enjoyed reading this omegaverse romance that is somewhat darker than the previous books written by this talented author & even though there are some heart-wrenching moments, it is definitely worth reading. It is set in a quite brutal futuristic world where the omegas have no choices & all decisions are made by the government and/or alphas. The female character in this book is portrayed as a quite resilient young woman trying to adjust to an unjustifiable traumatic attack but is still able to bond with a heroic alpha. The plot is outstanding with good scene descriptions & world building.
There is: a human female omega (Elise) is matched by a government’s “match maker center” to a alpha (Trevin Osmel) Who resides on a colonized planet (Farcon 1) then the ship her alpha sent for her is ambushed by pirates & she is looked after by the alpha captain (Leir) who is highly attracted to her, drama, intrigue, twists & turns, suspense, humans, aliens, slavery, action, adventure, discipline, spankings, confusion, pain, humiliation, a cruel & uncaring alpha (Trevin), a forced non-consensual scene, desperation, determination, unexpected help, full-scale revolt, violence, conflict, death, injuries, heat issues, a claiming, contentment, some consensual steamy scenes, happiness & a truly, satisfying conclusion. I would recommend this omegaverse romance to people who enjoy reading this genre.

Elise is an omega who has decided to turn herself in before the government comes to take her against her will to be collected and paired with an alpha mate. She is quickly matched with a wealthy alpha from an Earth colony planet and places her hopes that this is her ticket to a better life outside of the slums. Unfortunately, on her way there, her ship is commandeered by rebels and is used as as bargaining chip.

Omegaverse... but in space!

I must say, I am not a fan of that cover art. It made me expect something much darker and grittier than what this story was - not to say that this book does not has dark elements (ie sexual assault and rape), but it was not all completely doom and gloom as I was fully mentally preparing myself for.

I feel like there was enough going on in this book that it would have really benefited from more pages - more pages to really develop the relationship between Elise and the male lead, especially when things have calmed down and they can finally spend some quality time together. It's too bad that omegaverse novels tend to focus too much on lust and instant attraction based on instinct while ignoring the romance almost completely.

A heroine with a sad dark past is my cup of tea. Elise grew up poor and finding a mate to provide for her was the last resort, but in the process of being transported to her wealthy handsome Alpha, she gets abducted by pirates and finds herself attracted to her captor. I cried when Elise was sexually assaulted by that beta doctor, simply disgusting and I was secretly happy when the assistant to her alpha was killed because he was toxic. But Leir? Wow, I am a sucker for a bad good guy. Turns out her intended mate was a rapist. Damn if you're sensitive to rape this isn't the book for you. I love how I hated Leir in the beginning but slowly started warming up to him. The things that happened to Elise just made me sad I shed a tear or two. Damn.  The more I read, I realized it was far too long but also rushed through. It was a good book but too many things happening at once and it felt too much. Not a lot of spice because the darker parts will leave you traumatized. The chemistry between the two main characters wasn't very strong but it was there. I had hoped to really like this book but it made me very sad.

Used is a stand-alone in omegaverse world.

A slight different from the previous omegaverse books I ever read, Used caught me by suprise.

Elise is an omega. Stepping in her twentieth birthday, she decide to follow the law. come to the collection center on her own free will to be match with an Alpha instead being dragged, kicking abd screaming. Feel like she have nothing to loose, she hope for a better future in this "match maker" center. But her hope crush when the ship her Alpha sent to bring her was ambush.

Leir is an Alpha. He is the captain of a pirate vessel. He lead his men to ambush counsellor ship with one goal in mind. But an omega in ship is something he didn't expect but definitly won't have a problem to use for his gain.

A much slower pace than I ever read from the previous omegaverse books, Used bring another dimension in Alpha POV. Like any other men, Alpha isn't always an honourable warrior who valued omega for their worth. And only the real Alpha Omega connection hold the bond.

Used, is the newest Omegaverse story out by Leann Ryans and I think it was a very cool new addition to the genre.
The Good: what I liked was that this heroine wasn't trying to deny or overcome being an Omega--in a twist to some of the stories that have become more prevalent, Elise, the MC has an inner resilience that allowed her to accept her nature and the brutal world she lives in. She was almost graceful about accepting the fact that her fate was to be mated to an Alpha somewhere, and she was so smart in trying to affect the outcome of her future mating to the best possible scenario for herself. I loved the world building of a sort of future earth that while not post apocalyptic is still brutal and scary none-the-less.
The less good: Elise suffers an assault in the beginning portion of the novel that I had a hard time accepting. I can understand why it was necessary for the story but I still cringed while reading. It wasn't enough to change my opinion of the book overall and for me, I was able to get past it.
Overall 5 stars, and definitely saving to my Re-Read Rotation!

Elise is an orphaned, young, virgin Omega, who decided to turn herself into the government in preparation for mating. Her beauty and her virginity allowed for a very high price and a mating with Trevin, the son of the Chancellor. She is a little nervous about so much wealth, but she is willing to learn and adjust. Unfortunately, on her way to meet her proposed mate, the ship is overtaken by a crew of Alphas looking for someone to ransom. When they discover Elise, she becomes their bargaining chip. Will it work? Will the rich leaders agree to fulfill the pirate’s demands? Will Elise be saved by her future husband?
This story is filled with adventure, rough handling and excitement. When I began, I looked forward to the simple mating of Elise and her Alpha. Then things got complicated. Who will claim her? How will he treat her? Will she be happy with her ultimate mate? How will she decide?
This was an intriguing, complex story which kept me on my toes the whole time.
