Award-winning author Lyz Kelley mixes a little bit of heart, healing, humanity, happiness, honor, hope, and honor in all her books that are written especially for you.

I thoroughly enjoyed this romantic suspense series - four full stories plus two novellas to binge read!
I appreciate main characters with flaws that they are willing to (eventually) own and work to improve, and there is a fantastic cast of characters here in the Elkridge series. There are characters that I like, characters that I don't like, and even a few that I don't WANT to like -- close enough to my real-life feelings about the people I know to make me pretty sure this author understands people!
Solid romances (with thankfully not-too-graphic bedroom scenes) are partnered here with some well-crafted suspense that beautifully ties together all the books. If you're looking for it, there are hints and evidence in each story to put together the details about what's really going on in Elkridge.
Definitely a binge-worthy read. My review only lacks the 5th star for a couple of reasons, but none are total deal-breakers. My first issue was with the editing errors that kept cropping up - they're not frequent, but they are annoying for me and tend to jerk me out of the story. Second, I wasn't fond of the flow of the story-line in a few places; spots where I felt like the groundwork for the next story might have been given a better foundation with a few lines in the previous story. It was worst with Jenna & Grant's story, which felt like it started in the middle. I didn't catch hints about any kind of friendship (I don't even remember a meeting!) in previous stories, so the jump in felt jarring. Like I said, no deal breakers here - but still enough to make me feel like I couldn't give that 5th star.
By the time I finished Abandoned I felt transported to the warm, quirky town of Elkridge. The characters are so real. A poignant sense of heavy burdens then burdens being shared, uplifted, experiencing joys with the gift of caring people and maybe the love of their life. I don't cry over books but something kept leaking out of my eyes. The author created a town I'd love to visit, with spectacular views of the mountain ranges, people I feel like I know and want to cheer on and stories I got lost in. If you're looking for warm and loving, heart tugs and suspense, you'll enjoy this set. I'm not ready to leave!
I have just finished the books 1-4 boxed set and want more of the people in Elkridge. I love how everyone, well, almost everyone, in this town cares for and looks after one another. I especially like the stories about our veterans and the wounds, both physical and mental, and how they are helped to heal. Now it’s on to books 5-7.
I loved this box set for the most part and was surprised to see two extra novellas that weren't mentioned when I bought this. It's like getting a couple of extra books for free. Sweet.
I read Blinded several years ago and wanted to continue with the series. I'm not sure why I didn't because that story was fabulous. While I was scrolling through my Kindle, I found that I'd purchased this box set and had forgotten about it. YES! I was on it.
I read Blinded again and rediscovered Mara who was blinded from a car accident that killed her parents and a sibling, leaving just her and her brother, Tony to put their lives back together and learn to run their mother's flower shop.
Joey Gaccione is a detective from Seattle, hails from Elkridge so knows Mara, and is in town for his brother's funeral. Sam, his brother, was the sheriff and was found dead under suspicious circumstances.
Meanwhile, Joe and Mara are exploring unrequited love.
This was a crazy good book and had me wanting more.
The other books were great and had their own characters and stories. They fired on all cylinders, except for one of the novellas. I did not care for Exposed. I'm not a fan of age gaps nor do I like the "my friend's dad" trope. I know a lot of people think it's hot. I don't. It leaves a bad taste in my mouth, even if Dale Bryant wasn't the pervert type. It still made me cringe. That's a personal preference and many will disagree.
I don't know that you have to read all of the previous books in the series, but to truly appreciate the last book in the set, I recommend that Blinded and Orphaned be read. The last part of Rescued will have you jumping for joy.
This was a great box set with a mix of military heroes, attorneys, women who are making their way, some action and intrigue. There's something for everyone, even if I didn't necessarily appreciate the one novella, which brought the overall stars to four.
This series kept my interest and kept me guessing until the very end. I fell in love with the characters and enjoyed how the collection tied so many lives together without confusion setting in. This series was a mixture of Cozy Mystery and love story , I loved that mix! I'm looking forward to reading more by this author.
I love the way Lyz Kelley fills the stories with realistic characters with heroic abilities as well as a few flaws and even some with disabilities. I can't wait to read the rest of the series! If possible, I'd be considering a move to Elkridge.
I couldn’t wait to find and read them all. Told all my Senior Sisters” about this author. Will continue to find and read her books.?Thanjs for keeping us entertained during this crisis
These books were very sweet romance novels. I enjoyed the characters, and their relationships. I wouldn't really call them romantic suspense novels, just romance.
Blinded It starts with a bang, but it quietly reels you in through the rest of the story. There will be laughter, there will be tears, there will be "squee"s and there will be "awe"s. Just be prepared for the full emotional roller-coaster because you're about to be taken for a ride. The more I learned about Joey and Mara, and their families and friends, the harder I was rooting for Joey to protect the community and wanted to see the killer brought to justice. I'm fully invested in Elkridge and now I'm anxiously waiting for the next book because this is definitely part of a series: there are several questions that get asked that aren't answered in this volume. My curiosity badly wants to know those answers. Abandoned This book is tightly packed with detail and emotion. And on the emotional note, keep the tissues handy. There's lots deep, of tear-inducing moments. I'm a little at a loss for words because the emotions in this book were so intense, and in a lot of ways, cut pretty close to home. This is a good reminder that even though we talk, we don't always communicate. And our perceptions of someone or something are just that - our thoughts about it. I was rooting so hard for Chase and Ashley to figure out how to make their relationship work. In fact, there were several times I wanted to take Ashley and try to shake some sense into her. But having been programmed for that many years with all that neurotic self-doubt, I'm not that surprised she fought it. Chase is that perfect blend of take-charge alpha and loving protector. I'm three-quarters of the way in love with him myself, Ashley had no chance of resisting him. We still don't know the identity of Sheriff Sam's killer, but there are more clues now and that makes me want to read the rest of the series even more. Orphaned Like the previous books in the series, this one takes you on an emotional roller-coaster ride. Expect the unexpected and bring the tissues because this book runs the gamut from sweet to spicy, from heart-breaking to inspiring, and everything else in between with love and laughter to keep it all moving along. The author has made a life-long fan out of me. Besides, how else will I find out the rest of the story if I don't keep reading? Rescued Every book in this series is fantastic. And with each new title added, they just keep getting better and better. Each installment built on the last, enriching the fabric of Elkridge, introducing us to some of her most influential citizens, and providing us with essential clues to who killed sheriff Sam Gaccione and why. I can’t say I’m completely surprised by who the bad guys are but I totally wasn’t expecting the actual mastermind it turns out to be. Keep the tissues handy because you're probably going to need them before the end of this emotional roller-coaster ride. Karly and Thad both have deep emotional wounds. So deep that maybe they shouldn't even attempt a relationship. But the heart wants what it wants and these two brave souls show us that growth can happen even in the least likely circumstances. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book.
The novels in this collection make Lyz an automatic buy for me. I love them. Her well developed storylines are filled with relatable and memorable characters. They unfold so beautifully, grabbing hold of your faculties and emotions, and keeping them thoroughly engaged. Blinded: This is an all time favorite of mine for rereading. Joey and Mara are just perfect together. So much love and healing with just the right amount of suspense. Mara, who is blind, has such brilliant input and Joey is just a dream machine. Spurned: Both Kym and Zach have been "spurned" in their relationships with other people. They have lost their sense of joy and the spontaneity that can often spark it. Trust is in short supply. But in this little gem of a novella, they come to trust themselves and each other. They take their immediate attraction for each other and figure out what it is they really want in life. To build on their budding happiness the choices they make take courage and trust. Abandoned: I absolutely loved this book. The story is beautifully written with a style that simply flows, with enough twists turns to the plot to increase the interest level. Both Ashley and Chase have major feelings of grief and abandonment. So, with the help of some wonderful people in the little town of Elkridge, they learn to trust in themselves and each other. Love can help the healing. Orphaned: Again, this one is a favorite reread. Jenna is sweet and giving and full of love, but she is unable to fully trust anyone. Grant is every woman's yumcake , and is always trying to make things right for the people that he loves. Jenna must learn that love without trust has an awful time working. This is such a fabulous story. Exposed: Gwen and Dale make a perfect couple with chemistry that is hot, but oh, so sweet. The turns and twists in this novella challenge these two to straighten them out for a wonderful and satisfying conclusion. Rescued: This book ends the series just beautifully. Thad and Karly are phenomenal characters who just pull at your emotions. The mysteries are solved and we have another story of healing love from a fantastic storyteller. These are such well-developed stories that have such a depth of emotion. They should not be missed.
This series keeps you are your toes. Yes there is love, friendships, and family. But what starts is off is a murder. That starts the history & the getting of answers for everyone. Great Romantic Suspense.
This series is set in the Colorado Rockies west of Denver. The books are engaging, though there are strong similarities within the storylines that leads to a certain amount of sameness. Each of the leading women are very independent and very stubborn. Parents are controlling, even of their adult children. And the leading men are steadfast, loyal and patient. The background suspense is limited to the first and last books in the set, but other factors enter in with each couple. The town of Elkridge is small enough for lasting friendships and large enough for secrets to stay buried for decades. And the four book set is full of HEA's with no cliffhangers.
This series was a collection of well thought out plots and great story telling. I loved them all and cant wait to read anything else she has written. I feel like the characters are my friends and i am a resident of a small town. Thanks for books that tell sweet romantic stories without having to read parts that make me feel like i need a shower afterwards to wash away the dirt.
I enjoyed reading all of these books as individual reads. The characters and the mysterious events in Elkridge and very engaging. It starts with a murder and then other events start to unfold. The characters will keep you entertained and solving the murder and other happenings will keep you wanting to read til the very end. I highly recommend this series.
Yes, love storyteller with family drama. But now I want to know who murdered the new sheriff's brother and what about that FBI investigation into drugs and human trafficking?
It’s a wonderful serie were you meet people living in the town as well as those who visit, but stay. The way it’s written makes you feel part of the story, not just sitting outside looking in.
Loved the books, all the people came alive. The explanations about why Lyz wrote each story added to the emotional feel that each one generated and made the stories even more gripping.
