There are a billion reasons why you can't. Focus on the few reasons you can.
The last thing I need is a personal assistant. I'm good at my job, and, no matter what my interfering Mom thinks, I don't need help with that.
Yet, somehow, I've ended up with Lilah as my PA. And I like her. She's smart, she's funny, and she's making my life a hell of a lot easier.
But one business trip together, and everything changes. I never wanted this woman in my life, but now she's here, and I can't imagine it without her. Now that feels dangerous...
Assisting the Boss Series Book 1 – Billion Reasons Book 2 – Duke of Delegation Book 3 – Late Night Meetings Book 4 – Delegating Love Book 5 – Suitors & Admirers
please note: this is a 5 book series that ends on an HEA.
I honestly don't know why I downloaded this book. Yes, the blurb sounded good, but I should have checked the author before I downloaded! All I can say is thank goodness it was free. The real problem is this is a 240 page book and there are 4 more you have to read before you get to the end of the story. This author is notorious for cliffhangers and drawing the story out forever. Oh, did I mention that the other 4 books are $2.99 each? So the author wants me to pay $12.00 for a story and read all that fluff and fill (and line her pockets) before she gives a complete story? Not happening, tell me the story in the first 240 or don't tell it at all. Don't expect me to pay for your ramblings and typos.
Usual tropes. Nothing really happens. Characters never really develop. Not offensive but also super forgettable. I won’t bother with the rest of the series as I’m not invested in the least
So, this book was one of a dozen or more books I downloaded recently, just to try for something different. Unfortunately, I'm at 40% of the book with one of THE most underwhelming Billionaire CEOs ever. I was trying to hang in there and finish, but there has been zero excitement, zero suspense, no heat, just drab conversation. This is one I just can't finish. I do not recommend, unless you like this sort of reading material.
Normally I read reviews before purchasing a book. At least a glance at the average star rating - must rate an average over 4 stars for me to consider. But, nope. My bad. Somehow I skipped that part. I read the blurb, the book was free, I downloaded. I don't want to rag on this author. I do hope she takes note of the reviews here, takes them to heart as to what readers want, what makes them stop reading, and why so many have left 1-star reviews.
I won't pile on with dragging the book, but I will scream about the cliffhanger non-ending that says The End. It is NOT The End. The story is not finished. The reader has to purchase another book to simply get to the next chapter. If I had known this to be the case, I would NOT have downloaded. I don't care if it's free. I abhor an unfinished book that forces you to buy the next one (or more) to get the remainder of the novel. I'm sorry I wasted my time when I could have been reading something more entertaining and a complete story. From other reviews, I'm not alone.
This is part of the whole story. It has an interesting start as the female lead is introduced as pretty much a flake with an inferiority complex. Turns out the interviewer is his mom and is driven to have the male lead has an assistant that might be a potential love interest. Turns out she is really competent at the job. Oh, road trip, sex … and this is part 1 of the story.
The first book in this series (yes it’s 5 books long) started out ok. But OMG has the whole thing been stretched out needlessly. I say needlessly for the reader, but Lexy is wanting you to pay for the next 4 books to finish ONE story that could have been accomplished in a single book. I used to like this author but I’m done. Authors like this make me feel like I am being ripped off. No thanks
She applies for a mailroom job that is really the assistant to the boss. His Mom wants him to get help, she’s just the girl to do it. But something more starts to happen as he resists having an assistant
I loved the concept but felt the book failed to produce. The characters were immature. Some situations felt off. And it ended with a cliffhanger which is the very worst. This is my opinion and I am sure many will disagree.
Not a stand alone book. Was so annoyed to get chopped off. Absolutely hate these types of writers. Won't ever read another book of this author. Unfortunately it was good reading which is why I was so disappointed about the cliffhanger. M.
So the premise of this book was okay, the characters were pretty flat and the plot moved slowly. This is the first book in a series but not changing at the bit to read the next one.
I was really into this steamy novel, when it ended without resolution. That stinks. I thought there would be more in Assistant. But no. If all her books are like this, I won’t be reading her books again.
hoping it was just the version I had but there are so many copy and typo errors in this book. please find some proof readers! the story and characters are flat and so is their romance.
It would have been higher but for the abrupt unhappy ending. I say unhappy, because no one should abuse a switched up phone… shows a lack of character.
Romance genre: office romance Series: Assisting the Boss Length: 236 pages
Plot: Damien's mom hires him an assistant (without his say-so). He's just getting used to Lilah and then they have to go on a business trip. Stuff happens and there's an abrupt cliffhanger.
Commentary: I'll be honest - I stopped reading this author for two reasons: endless cliffhangers/sequels, and ill-formed stories. The character development is often lacking or nonsensical. There are characters who are acting out of the norm for the trope of the book. The dialogue is somewhat stilted. By the end of the book, I was not inclined to continue reading because I didn't care what happened to the people. I wouldn't normally be this mean with a review, but I've read three of four stories by this author, and they all follow the same format, regardless of length. There's a cliffhanger leading to another book and another and another (or even worse, the story stops halfway through, there's sample chapters from other books, and you still have to buy the next book to get the rest of the story). So much of the story could have been edited to form one or two books rather than a longer series, and nothing would have been lost.
Grammar/formatting: needed another pass with the proofreader/editor
