A sinfully hot erotic romance! I’m new to the BDSM/erotic romance genre but my boss gave me the option to try it and I’m so glad I did. I was expecting all sex and nothing else, but this author writes an emotional story that also includes steamy scenes. I learned tons about the BDSM lifestyle and the people who are a part of it.

Let’s begin with the characters. Max is a dom all the way, but he tamps down his protective side for the woman who will eventually be his love. He’s not just an alpha but one who is sensitive. This trait is constant throughout the story, and I adored Max for it. Sierra, on the other hand, is a sub but she’s also a feisty independent woman. She’s been traumatized by men, especially her father, and that plays into how she reacts to Max and the club. Both characters aren’t looking for love but find it in each other’s arms.

The romance is complex with obstacles and tension to draw it out. I enjoyed the realism the author brought to this relationship. It adds so much to the overall tale.

The plot progresses at an excellent pace. There are tons of conflicts, but it just made me read faster, to see what would happen next.

Tempt yourself with this book and dive into an emotional erotic romance. It’s one of the best romances I’ve read.

ARC received for review

Now this book was rather slow, and a whole lot of introduction to BDSM for a newbie (even a reading newbie which I'm not). Max and his partners are HOT and Doms which is nice. They know what they are doing, and aren't afraid to jump in and protect anyone. Sierra is a newbie, but her friends know a little more so maybe their books won't be as slow. Max and Sierra had chemistry, but he was just too careful and it got a little boring at times. Several people show up to throw roadblocks in their relationship, but true love wins in the end. The end was a little blah, but the teaser chapter for the next book with the friends....it's gonna be HAWT!

Sierra walks away from her idiot boyfriend when they go on a camping trip that turns out to be more than she bargained for. While walking away, she comes to Max's home and asks to use the phone so she call call a friend for a ride. But once Max see's the state she's in, his dominant personality takes over and he gets her warmed up and into some dry clothes while she waits for her friend to come pick her up.

Max is a Dom and runs a BDSM club and even though he hasn't been in a relationship in a while, he feels something for Sierra right from the start. So he gives her his card with his phone number and asks her to call him. But when she doesn't, he doesn't let that stop him.

When Sierra finds out that Max is a Dom and owns a club, she isn't sure what to think about him or his club but she takes a leap of faith and forges ahead. After she fills out the necessary forms and finds out what the club will be like, they go together so she can see for herself what a club like this is all about. They spend time together outside the club so they can get to know one another and I really think they were just made for each other.

Sierra has had some horrible things happen to her when she was younger and Max can see he needs to take his time with her so he doesn't scare her off. I loved how gentle, patient and caring he was with her. Max is one of my all time favorite characters that I've read in a long time. Sierra has bigger problems when her now ex, won't get a clue and leave her alone. The guy was so stalkerish it was cringe-worthy. I'm glad that Max was there to help her through that.

This was such a fun book. I look forward to reading more.

Disclosure: I was given an ARC of this book via NetGalley but all thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is a delightful variation on the intro-to-BDSM trope. In many ways it follows the standard plot, and yet there are many subtle variations that raise it above the others. The H is not an ass, and recognizes when he needs to back off a bit, and the h is smart and strong, and very willing to yell "Red" when things get out of hand. The secondary characters are refreshing, and will get their chances in upcoming stories. The scenes in the club and the bedroom were sensual and sizzling, again with nice touches added.

I will read more from this author.

NB: I read and commented on a beta version of this several months ago. That version was solid, an the final release is wonderful

So, the innocent girl in trouble (in this case, Sierra, escaping her creepy boyfriend's horror camp-out) accidentally ending up at a BDSM club (the titular Wicked Sanctuary), and finding true love with the Dom running the place (in this book, sensitive yet commanding Max Preston) is also the plot of at least two other BDSM romance novels that I've read. That doesn't mean that it's not good. Tempt actually tries to be somewhat educational in its description of the orientation process for new club members, and that's not as dry as it sounds like it might be. Max and Sierra have a lot of chemistry and I really like their relationship. What I don't like it how Sierra is repeatedly grabbed by creepy men, usually for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. And her evil ex is just a cliche. However, the book is still a really great read and I am looking forward to additional Wicked Sanctuary novels.

Marie Tuhart is a new author for me, so when her book 'Tempt', the first in her "Wicked Sanctuary" series was recommended, I was intrigued. Once I started reading the storyline I was sucked into her world-building and characters. A complete novice, raised by an overbearing, abusively strict father unwittingly shows up at a BDSM club needing help. Max, part-owner, and Dom has not only been through a divorce but faced a tragedy with another sub so he's kept himself emotionally sealed off. When these two meet it's definitely opposites attract with instant chemistry that's barely contained. I love that this author seems to have done her due diligence by giving safety precautions for anyone interested in BDSM and continually made a point within the club to reiterate 'Safe, Sane, and Consensual'. This series has evidently been out for a while so I know I'm late to the game but I can't wait to read 'Entice'.

I loved the H, Max and h, Sierra who meet unexpectedly when she appears at the door to Wicked Sanctuary like a drowned rat. Sierra had run from a horror campout that she hated and was tricked into attending with her current, now EX boyfriend. Max invited her inside and got her dried up while she waited for her girlfriend to answer her message for a ride home. Turns out, Max and Sierra seem to have an attraction to each other and she goes on to learning about. BDSM through classes the Doms conduct for newbies. I loved Sierra's girlfriends and Max's Dom friends and hope to read more about them all in future books. This was a very good story an handled the BDSM aspect of the story tastfully. I enjoyed it!

Marie Tuhart, ‘Tempt’.
A Wicked Sanctuary Novel. Surrender your inhibition.

As a Hidden Gems ARC reader I received a free copy and promised an honest review. Here it is.

Rating: 3,5 stars (of 5).

In general: Love in a BDSM scene.

Main characters:
- Sierra Blake.
With degrees in Economics and Psychology she became Data Intelligence Manager of a non-profit organization helping children. She’s a strong, independent woman.

- Max Preston.
Former IT genius; now - with two good friends - owner of a BDSM club: ‘Wicked Sanctuary’. He’s divorced; his ex wife told him that she could accept his preference for some kinky behavior but in reality she couldn’t and moreover she appeared to be a calculating ‘gold digger’.

In general I’m not a great fan of BDSM books. So it’s a bit difficult for me to give an honest review of this book. I’ll try.
Sierra and Max meet for the first time when Sierra leaves her boyfriend. He liked horror and she didn’t. He laughed at her protests and seduced her into a weekend to a horror-themed camp-ground. So she broke up their relationship. When walking away it starts to rain and she looks for shelter. The first house she sees appeared to be Max’ club. Max immediately feels a strong urge to protect the soaked, windswept beautiful woman on his doorstep.
Then the author, Marie Tuhart, describes how Max introduces a hesitating Sierra in a relationship with light BDSM aspects. She has difficulties with accepting submission and his sometimes over-protective behavior. But there’s a strong physical attraction. And Max realizes that he has to be careful when teaching her his lifestyle. With amazement this reader learned about the fun of giving pleasure along with pain and the acceptance of an independent woman being submissive in bedroom or club. However the author keeps the process of Sierra’s introduction rather credible.
But some other aspects of her story raised questions for me: Sierra’s former good looking boyfriend is a dumb drugs user and ignores a lot of her wishes. So why didn’t she - a clever, strong woman - dump him a lot earlier?
And Sierra’s thoughts about Max and his club are described in detail (and with empathy). But the influence of her interesting job on her behavior remains vague and in the background. Why not a bit more regard for this aspect of her personality?
All in all for me an interesting book I read with a lot of amazement.

I received an ARC from the publisher and Netgalley for my honest opinion. I’m probably one of the few people who didn’t love this book. It took me a while to get into the story. I felt the two main characters had hot chemistry but didn’t have much else, until the later part of the book. There was a lot of BDSM sex discussion that was important but at the same time boring. Though interesting enough I didn’t feel like there were as many erotic scenes in the story. Maybe in the next book there will be more erotic scenes that was discussed in this book.

Tempted: A Wicked Sanctuary Novel by Marie Tuhart - 4/5 stars

I received a free copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review from NetGalley.

This novel was quite a ride. It actually was a five star story for about ninety percent of the novel, only dropping one star due to the ending. I thought that this was incredibly well done and I had such a fun time reading!

Let's start with what I loved about this book:
Tempt was a novel about a seasoned BDSM dom and a girl beginning to learn about the lifestyle. The educational aspects about BDSM and the club-life was incredible to me. I would like to preface with the fact that I don't actually know much about BDSM myself, but this story felt very informative and like a great novel explaining the beginnings of the lifestyle. I think that this was one of the biggest strengths of the story, how thoroughly the rules and precautions were explained.
I also thought that consent was represented so well! Which is always important and rarely well done. Good lord, the consent was not just presented but enthusiastic. There was so much trust built up between Max and Sierra before anything sexual ever happened. He made sure that this was truly what she wanted and ensured that they had a great and trusting relationship built up before exposing her to too much. I thought that it was beautifully done and very refreshing for an erotic story to do.
I liked the sub-plot of Sierra figuring out whether or not she was submissive, dominant, or versatile. So often in these types of novels the female character is already obviously submissive and there is no conversation surrounding how to discover the role you like to play in the bedroom. Watching Sierra and Max go through that and discover the type of sex that Sierra likes and the role she is most comfortable in was interesting to me.
On that topic, I also loved that Sierra was comfortable setting limits for herself and for Max. It felt very healthy and responsible. She knew that outside of the bedroom, she was not comfortable with Max being dominant towards her or trying to take over aspects of her life. Sierra was willing to explain that and stick towards her boundaries and not get run over by someone else's wants.
I also thought that Sierra's friends were very non-judgemental which was new and I loved to see it.

Now onto the stuff I didn't like so much:
At times the writing could be a bit juvenile, thus taking me out of the story for a minute or two. The beginning of the story starts this way, and I was unsure about whether or not this book would be for me because of it. I think that the beginning feeling very young and typical can lead to some people dnf-ing which makes me very sad because I think this book deserves to be read.
I was a bit disappointed by the actual sex throughout the book. While the buildup to the first scene was amazing, I was actually frustrated that we barely touched on any of the BDSM that we spent the entire book explaining. I loved learning about the business side of the club and community, but I would have actually liked to see that incorporated into Max and Sierra's sex life a bit more. When it came to erotic scenes, more often than not it was just glazed over and skipped to the next day.
The biggest problem that I found was the ending. Without spoiling the book, I found that the plot twists were very cringey and not well done. The two twists were unrealistic and too easily solved. It felt so disconnected from the rest of the story and really disappointed me at the end.

Ultimately, I don't think that this story is for everyone, but it worked pretty well for me. If you want to learn a bit more about the business and guideline side of BDSM, this is for you. However, it is not as erotic a story as the vibe lends itself to and the ending was disappointing. Overall, a solid read though!

OMG! This book was an amazing release! I loved it! I am so sad that book number 2 is not out already, I need to read it NOWW!!!! Haha.

Ok so the book opens up and moves faster than the speed of light, and we already know what this book is going to be about. The BDSM/Kink culture is a real thing, and to think that most of what Marie has written is all based on major research makes the culture even more real.

Sierra is a woman with a lot going on. It’s like she cant catch a break when it comes to her love life. But one thing I really love about her is the fact that she stands her ground, when she broke up with her now Ex over something that he knew she didn’t like, it was the last straw for him.

The way she meets Max though???? YES YES YES! I was in love with Max as soon as she knocked on his door wanting to use his phone to call her best friend to save her. I feel like that was my favorite part. She met him, he automatically took charge, which of course she is not a huge fan of, she couldn’t get away, and I loved it. He will find her and make it his business to know everything about her.

One of the other things I loved about this book was the character development. You got to know them, I loved Max and Sierra as characters, even as a couple, her trusting him, him being very patient with her, the scenes in this book were intense, their attraction was something out of this world.

I am all for learning new things, and in this book I learned a lot about the lifestyle, it was teaching me but also adding amazing characters in the mix. It was awesome.

Thanks NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read this book, and as for Marie Tuhart, thanks for writing such a great one, cant wait for the next book.

Sierra is on a camping trip with her boyfriend when she realizes it is a themed camping trip. The theme is scary and she IS NOT into that. So when she up and leaves the camp sight with no phone and on foot, she needs to find a way home.
Sierra makes it to a driveway and knocks on the door. A gorgeous specimen of a man answers the door wearing only pants. Max immediately becomes concerned for this strangers welfare. They are after all out in the middle of the woods and it has been raining. Max sees to her drying off and makes sure she gets home but he can’t let her escape his life completely. Max and Sierra embark on a romance, both working out their own issues along they way.
Opinion
This book is BDSM but not at all overly graphic. The issues that Sierra has make it hard for me to see her liking the lifestyle, but I suppose it is possible. I have issues with things that went astray at the club. I would think that an established club would not have that many issues so close together.
On the plus side, I really enjoyed the story. The romance between the two MCs was endearing and the two complement each other well.
There is definitely room for more books with her two best friends and his two best friends. Perhaps there are more possible with some other minor characters.
I do look forward to reading more in this series. Overall, the book was an enjoyable, quick read.

I received this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Note to reader...BDSM content - 18 and older readers only

I enjoyed the story line. Sierra leaves her then boyfriend due to his treatment of her, She is stuck with no phone or way to call for a ride, She travels to this man's home where she meets Max. Right off the bat Max was a strong character for me. He is the Dom and teaches her the way of the BDSM world. This is their journey through this world and their exploration of each of their minds, body and souls.

Sierra is very hesitant of the world due to her past and has panic attackes. I enjoyed reading how Max's patience with Sierra during her attacks and helps her through them. I didn't enjoy the lack of communication between the two towards the end, but it didn't ruin the story for me as it was only 2 chapters.

I like how the author took the time to have Max explain and answer Sierra's questions in greater detail even for the novice reader like me to understand.

Over all this was a very enjoyable quick read for me. Definitely a recommend from me.

I am hoping that this is the first book in a series that will be set around The Wicked Sanctuary club as usual with Marie's books it flows well and keeps you engaged Yes it is set in the BDSM lifestyle but it is handled extremely well no gratuitous violence like so,me authors have

Sierra Blake stumbles into the world of BDSM and the Wicked Sanctuary life totally by accident escaping her boyfriends horror themed weekend of camping she heads to the only residence she is when it begins to rain not realising just what she has stumbled onto. Max Preston is one of the owners of the club he is a former IT genius who has made his money and him and his friends have built the club. He is also a man who doesn't trust women after all his ex wife said she accepted his BDSM lifestyle when all she really wanted was his money. Now he is deeply attracted to Sienna but can she accept his lifestyle and will she learn how to let her submissive side loose. You will have to read to see if they have a future together. Now looking forward to more books in this series

A definite BDSM book that gives you a ton of details about the lifestyle. Characters in this first in series are likeable and believable. I enjoyed the strong alpha men that proved they still had a lot to learn about relationships with strong women.

Sierra's horrible experience camping with her now ex boyfriend has left her stranded on the porch of the nearest house, dripping wet, and afraid she's disrupting an obvious party inside. But the half naked man that answers the door has her forgetting everything but him. Yet, it seemed everything she said seemed to annoy the stranger.

Max considers himself a tolerant man yet it seems everything out of this stranger's mouth makes him want to push her limits. It's obvious so ething has happened to her which brings out his protective nature.

As an interesting relationship develops between the two the trauma from Sierra's past as well as the men keep cropping up to cause issues. And as trust is growing it could be Max's past that destroys their future.

When Sierra arrives on Max’s doorstep, in need of help, looking like a drowned rat, something about her intrigues him. He’s hosting a party at his BDSM club at the time, and when he eventually explains the situation a few days later, Sierra can’t help but feel intrigued as well. They are both attracted to each other and as they enter a D/s relationship things get more intense, but it’s more than that. They can talk for hours and never get bored. Their attraction and passion is undeniable, and when they scene with each other at the club, others can see it too. This is a well written, interesting and enjoyable book. Sierra finds the strength to deal with situations in her life due to her positive relationship with Max. The story’s never dull and all of the characters are three dimensional and believable. Loved it :-)

This is how I love to see my Lifestyle stories! A dominant alpha who respects, listens to, and cares for his submissive. A submissive who’s soft yet also strong; able to take care of herself but also willing to yield control in the right situations. I loved Max and Sierra. I adored watching them navigate through the sometimes-stormy waters of their new relationship. I really appreciated that this book didn’t present the Lifestyle as a panacea for previous abuse, instead showing that the two could be a volatile mix. But I think, by far, my favorite thing about this book was that when Max stepped out of line Sierra called him on his bad behavior and Max actually acknowledged it and apologized, leading the pair to find a happy middle ground. Now, I’m anxiously waiting until I can get my hands on the next book in this series.

I received this book as part of an ARC review. This is a great book. I like how Sierra managed to get over her childhood abuse and how Max helped her finish her journey to independence from her father's opinions. Sierra broke up with her boyfriend after he ignored her wishes. While she still had issues with Carl, I think she handled it great. Max was instantly taken with Sierra and pursues her. He may have been a little overzealous in the beginning but he still respected her wishes when told to back off a little. Sierra is curious about kink and is quite willing for Max to be her teacher and Dom. Through honest communication, their relationship evolves into love and more. I loved how Marie balanced all the elements in this story. I would highly recommend it and look forward to more in this series.

I received a complimentary copy of Tempt from NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

I actually really liked this book. The characters were believable enough and I enjoyed following their storylines. Some of it was a bit predictable and mechanical however. (A backstory of childhood trauma seemed too planned, the appearance of an ex-lover seemed too precisely timed, and the collaboration of an enemy with a family member and the character's reaction to that situation just didn't seem plausible or realistic at all--I was waiting for that situation to be part of a dream sequence.) For this type of book, it was pretty vanilla, which was fine by me and I may have appreciated the novel well enough to be interested in a sequel.

Thank you, NetGalley, for the ARC!

This book gets 2.75 stars.

I liked the beginning of the book but then it felt dragging, to anoint were I had to force myself to finish it, and to be honest I ended up skimming it.

The ML asks the FL these specific questions from which he concludes she is a submissive. For some reason she is shocked by this, for someone who has read and experimented with BDSM a little, it should have been pretty clear why her answers imply she is a submissive.

There is also this sudden period of self-consciousness that appeared when the ex showed up for like 5mins, and it read as out of character for me. The FL was willing to happily go to a BDSM club where she is dressed half- naked , but the ex wife turning up causes her to run with the ML giving no indication of any interest to the ex.

Therefore, sadly this book was not for me.

Tempt is the first story of the new Wicked Sanctuary series. Sierra looks for shelter when she flees from a horror campout. She lands in a BDSM club. The owner, Max, takes care of Sierra and is immediately attracted to her. Though Sierra is reluctant in the beginning, she soon realizes that she likes to submit to the dominant Max. On their journey, Sierra also learns about self-worth and is able to stand up against her abusers.

I enjoyed reading the book. Though the story was kind of a slow burn, the characters were great and I look forward to the next book. I hope it is about Crystal and Jordan.

My rating: 4 stars! As much as I enjoyed this book ....I had read another book that read along the same lines.. Boy meets girl ...boy in kink lifestyle ...girl new to lifestyle ...ex partner makes trouble ...etc., etc. etc! I felt at times she was educating her readers of the lifestyle of kink. - what is a permissible action and what is not! That being said ...I enjoyed the story line and the interaction of the main characters. I would look forward to more from this author in the future!

I would like to thank the author, the publisher and NetGalley for an advanced copy of this novel in return for an honest and unbiased review

A steamy story of insta-attraction from rescuing a damsel in distress
I was instantly drawn to Sierra stumbling upon Max’s Wicked Sanctuary when she walked away from her now ex-boyfriend’s idea of a campout. Max is drawn to Sierra and is persistent with her for a future with him as his submissive. I loved how Max takes his time teaching Sierra and learning her triggers, whiles Sierra becomes confident in her role with Max. Yet they each have troubled pasts that risk their relationship? Will Max and Sierra surmount these obstacles? I read this book in one sitting as felt drawn to each of the characters as written in dual point of view.

This is only my second novel by this author. I enjoyed Tempt thoroughly.

I cannot blame Sierra for not wanting to go to a horror camp outing. That would not be fun for me either. Choosing to walk away, not too smart. And thank goodness for power outages that cause gates to be open.

I love the scene where Max and Sierra meet. I enjoyed the developing relationship between the two main characters, and can't wait to visit with them again in Entice.

The reader gets a fantastic introduction to discovering a private kink club. Great Job Ms. Tuhart!

I received an advanced reader copy, and this is my honest and voluntary review.

Tempt by Marie Tuhart a five-star read that will tempt you. This was my first ready by this author but it wont be the last, you can tell that lots of planning and plotting went into this one as the characters have amazing detail and depth and the BDSM storyline is so well done, not overly fantasised but real and shows you the true side. Sierra was really well done, you could be there with her pushing her along at places, and Max well I loved him from the beginning, but it was nicely done as you get to see how Sierra falls as well, overall a very well written story and an author I will be checking out more from.
