He's a brawler, she's a speed racer. Together, they're explosive.

Isobel
Heir to the McRae estate, Lennox is the huge Highlander everyone respects. But deep down, he's a dirty fighter. He crashed my car, stole my first kiss, then walked away with another woman.

There’s no reason why, years later, when I see him in a fight, I should be lusting after his body. They call him Hard Nox, but I know him, and damned if he's getting an easy ride back into my life.

Nox
Isobel is a menace. She races cars and has tattoos in places I can't even imagine. I shouldn’t want her. But I can't forget the one kiss we shared as teenagers. Fresh out of the military, I have one thing in my sights – her.

Isobel Fitzroy is my best friend's sister, and I'm going to tame her wild heart.

This was a good read. Lennox and Isobel kiss and he walks away. They see each other again at one of his fights. They begin a relationship together. They have some ups and downs but in the end they make it work.

Different from the usual type of love story than I’ve been reading lately and I found it refreshingly full of romantic relational emotions.
Dual POVs that were well written and easy to follow capturing the essence and personality of Lennox and Isobel.
I loved the way they were connected and how they interacted with their families.
That first kiss when they were teenagers set the tone for their relationship which the author developed as they grew older and had a second chance at love.
The drama with the Warwicks added to the storyline and I thought the author pulled back just at the right time before it got too tedious. I hate when the troublemakers in the story end up making the main characters act stupid. Our main characters wised up pretty quickly and I loved the way they refused to be bullied and blackmailed by Amber, Casey, and Emily.
I liked the way Isobel grew and learned to trust Nox and the way he responded to her big reveal and insecurities.
Well written, easy to follow, full of relational tidbits and gems along the way. Loved all the supportive family and side stories.
Their connection was full of heat and the author showed her talent in creating and building up the passion they shared. Graphic and very steamy scenes.
An all around feel good keeper romance!

Ooh, I've been waiting for this new generation of Jolie's Scots, and reader, Hard Nox did not disappoint!

The story of Isobel and Lennox is years in the making, and the misunderstandings they need to unravel to get together are perfectly angsty, with a good hint of teenage drama thrown in.

But the characters grow up so much in the course of the novel, it's a delight to watch. I dislike stories where the hero and heroine repeat the same mistakes over and over, and it was so good to see how both Lennox and Isobel dealt with their issues to emerge stronger.

From the gorgeous Scottish Highlands to glitzy Monaco, this book took me on a wild ride. I can't wait for Skye and Sebastian's stories!

Hard Nox by Jolie Vines is book One in the Wild Scots Series. This is the story of Lennox 'Nox' and Isobel. Isobel and Nox shared a kiss when they were younger which of course added to Isobel's crush but then he left for the military. Isobel has image issue but has moved on to fast cars and daredevil ways. But now Nox is back from being away and Isobel is set on not giving in to her feelings or to him.
I enjoyed seeing their story play out and excited for this new series.

5 yours-mine stars! Loved this book!

"Sharing a space with Isobel did strange things to my heart - and my body in general."

Lennox McRae and Isobel Fitzroy have known each since they were children, as they have a family connection. An unexpected frisson and a stolen kiss when Isobel is 16 and Lennox is 18, and about to join the army, haunts them both for four years. When Lennox is back home for good, he's finally able to do something about it, but the path to their HEA is pitted with misunderstanding and not a little hotheadedness!

"A whomp of heat hit me. The attraction I'd been almost sure was one-sided turned into clear, keen chemistry."

Who knew that Lennox McRae would be such a dirty talker?! He's got all the makings and promise of being a commanding clan chief. From the moment the spark lit between them as teenagers to when they finally meet properly again as adults, the sizzling chemistry between them was a tangible thing. Lennox really stole my heart with his determination and solid intentions toward Isobel, and how he made her feel like the most beautiful and precious thing in the world to him. I loved his devotion to her.

"Isobel was a rollercoaster ride, and I could barely hold on for dear life. I'd break stuff for her. I'd tear myself to shreds for her."

Isobel was a firecracker of a woman. She's pretty tough, independent and determined to thrive in a male-dominated world. I loved her drive and her passion. My heart hurt for her vulnerability, but Lennox raised her up and made her realise her self-worth and what she meant to him.

I started this series with the second book but so glad I've caught up now, especially as we meet Blayne properly in this story. I can't wait for the final book now, which is his story.

First off, I listened to the audio and for me it was definitely the way to go. Ella Lynch and Paul Metcalfe totally brought Hard Nox to life. I don't know if their accents are authentic or not but they were both just perfect. For my ears anyways.
As for the story. I really loved Isobel and Lennox and their supportive, awesome families. From the start Lennox is chasing Isobel. At first, it's to "rescue" her when she doesn't need rescuing but then they share a kiss. Then he's chasing her for a whole different reason. Of course, by this time it's five years after a kiss neither can forget and they've both changed and grown. But there are obstacles they both must overcome before they can ride off into the sunset.
Fun, steamy listen.

Wow! There are some books that you read and you they’re unforgettable. This is one of them. It’s told from both POV so you're with the characters every step of the way.
At 16 years old Isobel lashed out through speed...racing fast cars. She loved vehicles and the mechanics surrounded them. But she hated school. At 18 years old, Lennox is about to join the military with his best friend, Sebastian, Isobel’s brother. Helping his family and friends get ready to celebrate Christmas at their Scottish castle, Lennox realises that Isobel’s is missing. About to race her mothers brand new Tesla, he swoops in and drags her and her car off the track. After sharing a heart stopping kiss later that night they realised for the first time that they were attracted to each other, but then Isobel found out he had a girlfriend....
Four years later, Lennox is out of the military, ready to start working on ideas for his families estate but he still can’t forget that kiss with Isobel. Working in classic car restoration, neither can Isobel. When circumstances bring them back together again, Lennox wants to finally clear the air. Isobel not so much. As the story develops the characters run hot and cold with tempers and passion always at boiling point. Both hotheads, they have so much in common in very different ways. When they focus that passion on each other, their relationship heats up as they begin to repair their friendship. Really well written with fantastic characters throughout. Absolutely brilliant.

Holy Scotsman!!! This book is so HOT!!

I have spent the past few days, yes, days reading the Marry the Scot series and fell in love, deeply in love with the McRaes, every single one of them. This story was Lennox’s story and boy I wanna book a trip to Scotland and find me a 6’5” Highlander of my own! This book had all the feels; angst, frustration, anger, anxiety, love and holy hot sex!!! Jolie Vines you are my hero in the way that you write. I am so looking forward to Perfect Storm, and the highly anticipated Lion Heart that comes out in a few days!! You ROCK!!!

Fast paced, sexy, and captivating

I absolutely adored the Marry the ascot series by this author and this story felt like coming home to family. This series is about the kids from the previous series, and I loved every minute of this book.
Lennox and Isobel have history together, and not all of it was good. It was really interesting to see Isobel learn to overcome her feelings of shortcoming, and to watch Lennox grow in confidence as a civilian. The Warricks were great antagonists too :)

Modern Alpha Scot and His Speed Demon

Thoroughly enjoyed my first Jolie Vines book! 4.5 Stars!

Based on the age of the characters, it's probably New Adult, but still had some maturity to it. It also had a few other things I really liked: a brawny Highlander in a kilt, a lady mechanic, super cars, dramatic comeuppance, and a grand romantic gesture.

Second generation! Wow. And I thought I'd never love any characters more than those in the first series. Jolie brings in some of the most complicated, stubborn, yet endearing characters in her stories. I love seeing familiar characters and how they interact with their 'grown' children. Definitely characters that you simply wish were real. Lovely story.

The Next Generation

Another stellar read from Jolie! I love the story about Lennox and Isobel. There is some heavy angst between used to and I loved every minute. I love the way Jolie writes so perfectly, that I can actually see the characters and the beautiful highlands of Scotland.
I’m onto the next book that brings us the story of Skye, twin to Lennox and Artair.

Fast-paced, fun, escapist romance. Leave reality at the door because this story is close to over-the-top. Lots of travel and unrealistic events for the age of the characters (Isobel is 21 and Lennox is 23). Large cast of characters gave it a "small town romance" feel without the small town. Liked it enough to continue to the next story.

Beautiful

As always heart strings pulled. Lennox and Isobel bring out the best in each other. They let and except each other's strong points and weak points. Lennox never giving up and letting Isobel have the time to catch up. After that it's like a whirl wind of love.

Sweet Alpha Hero.

And a commitment phobic, self-esteem issues heroine. I loved how quickly the misunderstandings were resolved. He didn’t allow her to sit in the lies for long, but chased her down to resolve it. There was tug and pull. The sex was hot. Overall, the hero made this book.

This was such a cute book 🥺

The Scottish men just hit different I think..Nox was such a darling and Isobel, although lacked confidence in herself, was great. She’s a bit of an adrenaline junkie and I love that in a FMC, not just letting all the boys have ‘fun’.
