2.75 stars - yes that’s a strange rating for me but 2.5 feels too less and 3 is just a bit too high, lol.

Despite me really liking this world and the concept I just can’t completely seem to lose myself in this sequel. The romance is sloppy and I can’t say there’s a lot of depth to be found in that regard.

The story development is okay but not really surprising enough to my likes.

Overall it feels lacking on several fronts, which really bums me out because I wanted to love this series so much because as I already said: I really like this world and the concept of it all.

The characters are still fun to read about but because there are many characters present, not all of them get nearly enough of the attention that they deserve.

As with the first book, it feels like there aren’t enough pages written. That it’s too short.

At this point, I’m afraid that book three will become a disappointment since it mostly went downhill after book 1 - things I was afraid of happening after book 1, did happen so that makes me antsy to read book three - but I do plan on finishing the series out of respect to the author and this series. Even though it didn’t turn out what I’d hope for, there are still elements present that I like so it’s only fair to give the last book a chance I think.

Wow, it has been a WHILE since I read book 1 of this series. Yet, I never knew it was on audible until last month? So freaking weird but I decided it was time to dive into book 2. Luckily for me, I wasn't lost and confused about what was going on with all the characters or the harem! YAY ME!

Love the Sea was a pretty good book. Thankfully, it didn't fall into the second book syndrome because it was pretty entertaining. At this point, Cassandra is a prisoner for the evil King - ugh, aren't they all evil in some way? He forces her to participate in his games, more like "games", but whatever. The guy is creepy and possibly insane.

Low and behold, her pirate guys arrive to rescue her in the nick of time. Or so we thought. Things definitely become interesting when secrets come out. Throughout the book, the games become a little more intense which drives them all to get everyone out safely. The maze and death traps were a fun twist but overall, not a lot happened in this one.

Or maybe it did have a lot and I just spaced out? Trust me - it can happen to the best of us.

Overall, enjoyed the book and look forward to diving into the next one.

That was a great way for a 2nd book in a trilogy to be written.

This was not just some filler book made to stretch a series out. This book had everything, action, excitement, love, sex and answers to questions.

It was enjoying to read about Cassandra coming into her power, as well as bond with her chosen.

I really hope that the 3rd book in this series is just as good and entertaining as the first 2 books.

I loved this as much as book 1!!! I am slightly disappointed that it ended at 79% though I was hoping there was more than links and a novella.

Cassandra is a prisoner of the King and forced to participate in his "games". Her pirates arrive in the kingdom to rescue her, but they must do so carefully, especially since Most of the plot involves Cassandra and the other prisoners trying to survive the mazes and death traps in the games and biding their time to escape.

I don't know....there was some action in this book between the games and Cassandra furthering her relationships with her chosen ones, but when I really look back at what was accomplished in the plot...eh, not a whole lot happened. Of course, the book did end on a cliffhanger, which means that I will be reading the final book just to see if I am right about my suspicions of how this will all end. So far though, this isn't in the running to be my favorite G. Bailey series. It's a bit boring.

I didn't really like this one.

The best friend of the heroine go on my nerves.
The dialogues were off.
The Villain (King) in this story is pathetic.
There's no real development in the relationship between Heroine and her Heroes. They become her chosen and they tell each other "I love you" but from where is it coming from?
Heroine and her Heroes spend so much time not being together in this book.
I hated the first sex scene. She's a virgin (of course) and she loses it with one of the Heroes on the bed of the Queen (his mother). It felt rushed, non-romantic.
The second sex scene wasn't any better. Heroine and another of her Heroes (the one who slept with a mermaid for a time) see each other after a year of forced separation. And he just "attacks" her, because he can't keep his hands off her and they do it against the wall. Quick, quick. Blah...

This story just felt off, I didn't get to know any of the characters better. All of the Heroes, her chosen, seem to be the same character.

Don't know if I will read the next book.

Ugh this one couldn't hold my attention. It was pretty disappointing that the whole book didn't take place on the ship. I didn't care for the villain either and the whole bonding process with the pirates (plus subsequent sex scenes) fell flat.

Fascinating

Things are really getting interesting now. Cass is a prisoner of the King making it necessary for her pirates to come save her. While doing so we learn all kinds of intriguing tidbits that were only eluded to in book one. Each one has me even more hooked on the story as I had to know what happened next. Book three is going to be amazing!!! Great for fans of fantasy reverse harem novels. I really liked it so I give it 4/5 stars.

I am sadly disappointed with this series. It’s about the sea and “her pirates” but this book was stupid and mirrored the “hunger games”. Too much trying to survive the king and his games. They should have spent more time on the seas developing their love for each other since you are trying to connect the reader to fall in love with 6 men who are her mates aka chosen. It is hard to make us feel any love for them in the short amount of time spent with any of them. You could have had awesome battles with other pirates along the way preparing for the actual meeting of the evil king. And then seriously what the hell was the ending all about. She falls in the sea and comes back a year later?!? -WTF why did that happen? She was asleep that whole time? I could understand if she was training or something but she just wakes up a year later and flys away. Come on that is just the stupidest thing I’ve ever read. And when she finds everyone they are oh I’ve missed you so happy to see you ... blah blah blah. The next book better be better or this was a total waste.

There's something about this series, the characters, that makes me cringe. I found the dialogue too cheesy!

She's always gushing about "my pirates" and how she adores them. Instead of being kickass, she comes off, at least to me, like a shallow airhead. And the men, man, they're equally as cheesy. They're supposed to be alpha, studly pirates, not flowery bards or poets. *rolls eyes*

I kept reading bec I wanted to find out about the dragon. But the dragon only appears in about 1% of the entire storyline. Sheesh.

Sorry. Not going to continue with this series.

My pirates! I mean Cassandra’s. I love the last part! Omg. It lacks one star because again, lack of emotion. Could have been better. It’s as if it’s just st read a story without actually feeling it and I have to skip the ‘vision’ parts of the story.

Loyalty

This is just amazing. It did not end with the King and it left for more in the plot. I like the sea God he is just such a good character. The Dragon and the betrayal it just all plays up in the story. The characters just add to the intrigue especially where the relationship is concerned and how loyal they are.

Oh good lord. Pretty sure G.L. kills us just to bring us back with her next release then kill us again. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I have a truly DEEP love for this series! These characters have become some of my absolute favorites and the storytelling/world building in these 2 books have been so awesome! I love the changed ones and how they affect the world. Cassandra is my favorite type of MC. She gives zero f*cks and kicks some serious butt. The guys are still as amazing in this book even though we don’t see them quite as much as we did in the first. It was interesting to learn about a few of their childhoods and to learn more about how the King came to be who he is.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this series! It is one of my faves and a seriously amazing read!

I am totally surprised about just how much I love this author. Seriously, she’s great!

Cassandra, one of the only female changed ones, has been kidnapped and is being brought to the king of the nightmare kingdom. The king has killed all changed ones on the spot, but Cassie interests him. She has been in contact with the Sea God. An old friend of the king’s. The king has been keeping secrets of his own though. He happens to have the powers of a changed one. This is a secret that he would kill to keep. But that doesn’t mean he’s not enjoying his powers. Having to fight to survive in his cruel games with her father and best friend Everly, Cassie can only hope her pirates are planning to rescue her. But when she sees familiar faces that look just a little too much like the very king she is trying to get away from, she doesn’t know who she’s can trust...

I loved the first book so much, so I was looking forward to starting this one. Let’s just say it definitely disappoint. There were some hot and steamy scenes, then there was some action and fighting scenes, then of course, there was the trade mark cliffhanger scene. (Although this one wasn’t as much of a cliffhanger. And it was a really good cliffhanger!) So in all, this book had it all. I loved seeing Cassandra and her pirates again. Their relationships really grew in this one. But in some ways it felt kind of rushed. The sex scenes weren’t really that meaningful. Really they were just some quickies. While I don’t want it to be super detailed, I don’t want it to feel rushed. Then they all proposed to her when they only knew each other for a short time. Don’t get me wrong. I totally want them to get married! It just seems a bit quick and rushed.

Oh and Everley. She kind of got on my nerves. I think she is the heir of land and sea the deal talks about, and she knows it. But she won’t tel Cassie and looks like she wants nothing to do with it. I don’t know, something about her really just got on my nerves. Lately, the best friends of the MC in all the other books I’ve read have been getting on my nerves too. I don’t know. Maybe it’s just me?

Ok, so now that I’ve gotten all of that out of the way let’s talk about what I loved.

Cassie’s father grew on me in this one. I think he was just misunderstood in the first book. He would do anything to protect his daughter. And her did. He paided the ultimate price, his life. Their goodbye was really sad and heart breaking. That was the first time they ever really talked about how they feel. I wished he didn’t die so they could finally have the relationship they should have.

Of course, I loved all of the guys. But Hunter is my favorite. He finally admitted his feeling for Cassie to himself. I loved how he would tease her in the first book. And then the dragon egg 😍 He is really sweet deep down and I liked how we got to see some more of that side. When he wasn’t playing the part of the young prince. (While I wished they would have told Cass about but understand why they didn’t)

I didn’t like the king himself, but his storyline. I would love to more about that. And besides, every good book needs a villain, and he is a good one! There should be a prequel series about the twins mother and all of her consorts. I would totally read that!

3.5 stars. I feel like so far this series is really interesting and original. Its really easy to get caught up in that is for sure. I have really enjoyed reading these, the only complaint that I might have so far is that the pace of the story is so fast that I felt like I was kind of losing the connection to the characters a little. It could also just be that the pirates weren't present through alot of the book. I also feel like they rush into any hastily made plans and ideas and there is this sense of urgency that flavors the story line.

In the first book we left off with Cass and Livvy being kidnapped by the kings guards to be taken to the "nightmare" court. Once they arrive of course Cass shoots off her mouth with all this newfound confidence that did not quite make sense, I mean just a short time ago she was a prisoner in her own home so while I like the new Cass, character development wise it seems we have spun a 180 here. Trapped in the dungeons with some familiar faces from her past, Cass is haunted by dreams of the sea god who of course speaks in riddles that aren't even rhythmic *insert eye roll, and to top it all off she must compete in live threatening games put on by the king. Throughout all these trials I feel like the sense of mystery is kind of taken away from the story because plans and ideas just happen with no pre-thought or solving of any kind. Stuff is just happening and people are just reacting and there isn't much insight as to why things are moving the way they are, almost superficial.

It really was an enjoyable read, I just felt it was lacking that deeper component that moves something from enjoyable to life altering. Either way I really want to know how this plays out especially since we are left with a cliff plummet, I mean we didn't even get a hanger its a plummet.

Yeah... well... this book was not for me. I don’t know what happened that made me feel so meh about this book since I enjoyed the first one a lot.

In this book the characters felt flat and like they had no motivation to do anything. By this point I ended up hating the main character because at times she wanted to do so many things and she, well, didn’t do any of those.

Lastly, I had been waiting for the first sex scene (let’s be honest if you read a rb you always wonder how the sex scenes will go) and when it happened I was just there like that’s it? That’s all that we are getting?

For the second book on the series, I thought it was okay. Cass was in the dungeon almost the entire time, but she got close to her pirates so that was good. There was only a little smut, but the love among them was nice to read. I liked the games the king had them play, I would've liked more of those. I'm hoping we get to see the dragon more next book, along with more of Cass's powers she now has. And hopefully more smutty fun with the 6 men! ;)

This book started from where book one ended. Cassandra gets kidnapped by the King and finds out about his evil plan for her. She sees people from her past and has to overcome her demons. She doesn't get to interact a lot with her pirates. This story has a lot of information leading up the next book. This book is an emotional roller coaster of sadness, determination, and betrayal. I can't wait to see what happens next.

Horrible

This book was so bad that I added the author to my "NEVER EVER EVER AGAIN" list. The author only used the guys' POV for 3 or 4 of the chapters, so it felt like a cheat rather than how the story should go. The world building was nonexistent, nothing was explained about the religion (kinda important when the sea god had a speaking role) or mermaid/ human relations or the court or the other islands etc. Then there was the whole falling in love with 6 people, 2 of them barely more than background filler, in about 2 weeks? I wish I could request a refund of the time I spent reading this crap.

Let me just start by saying I don't do a lot of reviews but I just had to with this book

I pushed through the first book even though I did not like the authors style

The plot points inconsistent, the pirates couldn't die as long as the chosen lived but the, king killed his queens chosen...what?!? No explanation of how or why it worked when Cassandra gave one of her chosen the mark to save his life and it worked.

Barely any time spent on the relationships but yet they still fall madly in love.

This book was poorly written, not sure if I will read the last one but,I do know I will never read another book by this author as the writing style just blows me away

I don’t understand how this book received so many 5 star reviews. It’s not that it was bad, but felt unrefined. The story itself is intriguing. My complaints are due to the delivery. 1) The majority of the dialogue is unrealistic and often immature, 2) the characters lacked dimension, and 3) more often than not the reactions the characters displayed were unrealistic. It felt like the author knew where she wanted the story to go, but struggled to achieve a natural flow. My biggest complaint is that there was so much potential.

“Is everyone here? Did you all escape?” I ask him.
“A year ago, Cassandra. We escaped the castle a year ago, just after we watched you fall off a cliff,” he says. His voice is gruff and full of emotion as I try to process his words. I’ve been gone a year, but it only felt like moments with the Sea God.”

Spoiler ahead. Updated rankings:

- Ryland. First to be chosen. Also, her actual first.
- Dante. Last to the chosen party. Her second. Hmm.
- Hunter. He had the first guy's POV chapter in this book and the epilogue POV in the last. If he's not endgame, their relationship is at least going to be accelerated in this book. Bumping him to 3. OK he saved her in the maze, again.
- Jacob. Third to be chosen. Along with Ryland, the first to have a steamy scene with Cass.
- Chaz. Fourth to be chosen. His first kiss, that's cute.
- Zack. Fifth to the chosen party.

Also, the order in which she chants their names: Dante. Ryland. Hunter. Jacob. Chaz. Zack.

The names in this series are not creative at all. Onaya, Twogan, Thron, Foten, Fiaten, Sixa, Sevten? A three-year-old could have come up with those names. Calais? It's a city in France. Eowynn? Stolen from The Lord of the Rings. King Dragon? Least creative of them all. I can't read that name without thinking of ProZD's skits.

Update: Haha okay that was actually so bad. I was rolling my eyes after all of Cassandra's lines, and the boys' for that matter. Half of my highlights and notes are "Why is s/he such an idiot".

Cassandra shows no emotion. I described her as distant in the first book, but I thought it might be because nothing really happened. Now, she's been kidnapped for weeks, forced to participate in life-threatening games, lost her mother figure and her actual father, been proposed to, and she's just chilling? Like, she's fine with all this? And her answer to the proposal? Fucking "Yes."

This book was a lot weaker than the first. The first book should have developed the characters; if it had, then maybe this wouldn't have been such a shitshow. In this book, it seems like things are happening nonstop. But really, they aren't? The king imprisons her for weeks without really doing anything to her? He burns her arms but that's it? What's his goal? The pirates have no plan, either. Literally, no one has a plan. Everyone is just chilling in the castle, either in the throne room or in the dungeon. It makes no sense.

The king was more present in this book. But he's such a weak antagonist. His only personality trait is power-hungriness. He's so flat and boring that he tanks this book, too. I can't believe he's still a threat in the third book. What have the pirates been doing in the year she's been gone? Apparently nothing.

God this was frustrating, but it's kind of fun to hate books.

Cassandra has been captured and taken to the King. There in the dungeons, she discovers prisoners, people she had hoped to never see again. All she had ever wanted was for them to be safe and live a happy life once they no longer had to hide her. Now she has brought them to their end. She's without her pirates, she must survive the evil king's plans, and try to save everyone else. It seems impossible but Cassandra has a strong will. She is fueled by her desire to get back to her pirates. Her pirates haven't forgotten their girl either. They have a plan to save her. Secrets will be revealed; Cassandra will feel betrayed but they don't care if she's angry as long it keeps her alive. And she has the Sea God whispering in her ear. He wants to make a deal. He can help her but what will the price be? Does she have a choice? If what he says is true, there is no future if she doesn't take his deal. The sea will die and the earth will follow.

I loved the first book in this series and eagerly awaited this one. I admit I am a little disappointed with this book. It's not that the story isn't good; it is. This is a necessary follow-up to book one and set-up for the eventual battle with the king to save the seas and changed/chosen ones. There wasn't enough time devoted to the relationships between Cassandra and her pirates. I wanted more time with Cassandra as the little bird or little fighter. I wanted to enjoy time with her dragon baby. What little time she had with her pirates was important but rushed. I feel cheated. This story has plenty of fear, loss, betrayal, and ugliness. We get to know a bit more about the sea god. A crucial character returns. When you add in the little gem of a story, Fall For the Sea, that followed after the ending of this book all of the pieces of the deal are in play. I look forward to the next book. One evil king, one heir, a crown, and especially a changed one and her pirates will all come together hopefully in a spectacular fashion. Just more pirates, please!
