Ambassador #10
Lost Forest Secrets
Ceren, the world that's the home of the city of Barresh, has vast swathes of untamed wilderness, most of it tribal land belonging to meta-human tribes like the Pengali.
For many years, illegal organisations have seen these tribes as inroad into the lucrative gamra economy, abusing the local population with next to no payment, inflicting damage on their society. Sadly, Cory knows far too much about this, having studied Earth's history.
Cory's Pengali worker Ynggi has indicated he'd wanted to visit his home tribe, giving Cory the perfect reason to check out Pengali involvement in smuggling activities.
However, if he thinks Ynggi's Thousand Islands tribe is secretive and hostile, he will soon be corrected in a big way. Another tribe, the Misty Forest tribe, has made hostile overtures to the fiercely independent but peaceful Thousand Island settlements. Someone has been selling these people hostile propaganda. Not just that, they appear to have received some help from off-world and are on a mission to expand their territory by force.
For Cory and his team, an anthropological excursion turns into a battle to leave the forest alive.

Interesting story involving native rights, tribal customs, and suppression. Cory and his team delve into the the Pengali situation on the world they call home--discovering that while the natives have a very different culture, they are far from primitive. Moreover, they lack representation.
When internal conflict between tribes threaten to spill over into the city, Cory and his team must act quickly to try and find resolution. Unfortunately, there are outside players adding to the conflict and no clear indication as to who they are.
Makes for an interesting story the reader doesn't want to put down.

This is a wonderful new story in the Ambassador series. I loved it! The plot is complex yet solid with lots of action. The protagonist is lovable, brilliant, and tough. Most of the supporting characters are fully realized (especially if you have followed the series from the beginning) and each is unique. Patty Jansen masterfully juggles a huge cast of characters without ever dropping one!

I have thoroughly enjoyed all the books of Ambassador series, and this book is as good as the others although I'm excited for the next book 11, seeing that it will take place on Earth from reading the book description. I hope these Ambassador books never ends, wishful thinking! ;)

We find out a lot more about the Pengali.
Cory and family, friends, and others come back to Barresh. Cory is hoping for some down time, but as usual that doesn't happen. Oh, did I mention Cory has a new airplane??
Read and enjoy!!!

This book maintains the high standards of the rest of the series. Such a wide sweep of characters is sometimes hard to keep track of but the plot is gripping and draws you on. Highly recommended.

Not one of the better books
This book was slow in many places, then glossed over things in others. It also ended rather abruptly. It was harder to get through than all the others.
