Fate brings two people together through time and space

I have read all three of the books in this series and fell in love with each of the characters, but I think this book is my favorite.
Ramsey and Alice's story is actually the beginning story.
Ramsey is sent into the future at age thirteen to bring back a girl that is prophecied to produce the next Laird and to be the beginning of a thousand years of prosperity. When he got there he only had five minutes but he knew that he couldn't do it. So he was exiled from his clan when he was summoned back to the past.
Ten years later Alice has been obsessing over the boy who she saw for a few minutes when she was around ten. She sees a portrait of what appears to be him on-line. She decides to go-to the museum on the Isle of Skye to see who it is. When she realizes that the portrait was of a boy born nine hundred years ago, things get interesting.
She is pulled into the past and finds chaos. The boy she saw is labeled a traitor, another man wants her for his bride, people are starving, mercenaries are killing people and so much more.
Anyone who enjoy Scotland history or just books about Highlanders and time travel will like this book. This is a clean romance so everybody jump in and give it a try!

This was the third book on the series about the MacClean Clan but it was set in an earlier time than the other two books.

Alice met a boy when she and her family were on vacation in Scotland. He appeared and disappeared right in front of her and she never forgot him. When she sees a portrait of him online, she goes to Scotland to see the actual painting and ends up going back in time.

Ramsey was sent to the future by Nevin, the cruel laird of the MacClean Clan, to retrieve the girl by the loch. It was foretold in an ancient book that she would be the one to have the heir to carry on the MacClean line. But Ramsey didn't bring her back with him so Nevin exiled him from the clan.

Eleven years later, Nevin and the witch were able to get Alice to their time. Ramsey was in chains in the dungeon. Nevin wants Alice for his bride and Ramsey dead.

Nevin is a cruel and awful laird. He overworks the people, starves them and spends money on lavish things for himself. He's the kind of man we all love to hate.

Overall, it was an enjoyable read. The main characters were likeable and the villains were despicable.

As an ARC reader, this is my honest opinion. This time travel to the early 1100's Scottish period, is captivating, moving, and comes with a very happy ending. Ms. Dabney wrote a prequel to Highlander's Voyage and Highlander's Revenge. Although they can be read as a stand-alone, each has their own main characters, and each takes place in Scotland with no cheating or cliffhanger. Reading them with this new and amazing story first will definitely help you to better understand Highlander's Voyage then Revenge. The overall quality of this writer has grown and developed into a consistent five-star author She allows you to use your imagination while staying as close to the fact of the time period and geographic area as possible. Sometimes saying less is better than saying more and I agree on how she utilized that in the intimacy scenes. There is steam without being graphic or reading like a grocery list. Taking a trip like this seems possible as to over the top fantasy. Ms. Dabney pays attention to proofreading which makes for a smoother and more enjoyable read. Enjoy this 5 star read! It's time well spent.

I really enjoyed this entertaining time travel romance set in the 12th century of medieval Scotland. The story is a quick read that’s well written, with interesting and charismatic characters. There’s plenty of action, adventure and black magic to assist the time travel premise. At its heart this is a sweet romance that’s first begun when Alice and Ramsey meet as pre-teens – except he’s from the 12th century and she’s from the 21st! It seems though that fate has determined these two belong together, so they meet once again under very different circumstances a decade later. Why exactly has she been pulled through time to this precise location? How will this feisty modern woman adapt to the harsh lifestyle, and to the culture shock that is 12th century Scotland? Somewhere in time

I loved the the whole series and I cannot pick one over the other. They all draw me into the story itself - the magical weave that the author entranced me with. And what I loved most is that they contain no cliffhangers.
This particular story is the prequel, though it was much released later than the two books and somehow considered the last book in this series. I love the character development , the pacing, the romantic steam without too much graphic description. I also loved how the author's words helped my imaginary mind to conceive what she conveyed - how she brought me to Scotland and back. And she's now one of my favs. A very recommended read.

1145 AD is a rough time period to be living in. Especially for someone like Alice who time traveled hundreds of years from the present back to a time of constant battles and crude living conditions, where life is a day to day struggle just to survive. For Ramsey, escaping the dungeon he's held captive in and taking back his lairdship are his main concerns. Until Alice shows up, all part of a seer's prophecy. Great storytelling! I loved reading this!

Third and last book in these Medieval Time Travel series and I can only say this is another great Scottish romance tale. Blanche Dabney writes good Medieval books and each time I'm learning something new and interesting from the Scottish countryside too.
Well written and entertaining with well developed characters that are so full of life you can easily love them. An exellent read that I liked a lot and voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy .

Ramsey was selfless in how he always put Alice and her safety above his own desires. The prequel was really sweet in introducing us to Angus' parents. I enjoyed seeing Senga and the part she played in the trilogy. The characters of Nevin and Marsali reminded me of the Sheriff of Nottingham and his witch in the movie Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. His spoiled entitlement kept me laughing.

Wonderful story...

While this is the third book in the series, it is actually the beginning. I have loved all three books and the wonderful characters. I believe everyone has their "go to" authors for different genres. Ms. Dabney is one of two I have for time travel/highlander. Although this is the end of this series, I can't wait to see what's next from Ms. Dabney.

I have read all three of these books. It is not necessary for you to read them all or in any particular order to enjoy these books. These books are linked but can be read and enjoyed as standalones.

You're sure to love the blend of magic and well drawn characters in this third book in the series

Blanche Dabney is a fairly new on the scene author who has done a remarkable job blending fact with fiction in this remarkable time travel series.

If you like strong willed heroines, rugged heroes, and a medieval world filled with dark magic, you're sure to love this well written and researched time travel story.

Highlander's Battle is the third and last book in the Medieval Highlander series. It can be read as a standalone romantic novel or enjoyed as part of the linked series.

Wow I have to stop reading terrible free Kindle books. This was... Worse than terrible. I don't even think I can talk about all the plot holes, but let's discuss some of the worst things.

First, there's 0 romance. I'm not talking sex (because there's none of that, but that doesn't bother me) but actual romance. No wooing, no conversations between the MCs. We're just told they spend weeks together and all of a sudden love each other. There's not even insta lust.

Second, there's 0 aspects of time travel. I mean, we're told she time travels. But we don't get to hear about any of her struggles with it. And it's a bit of a cheat because everyone knows she's been brought back to save the clan so there's not even the fun big reveal.

Third, and this probably confused me most of all, she shoots the villain with a bow and arrow. Dissecting how she got there: while wearing a dress (I think because we're not really told what she's wearing) she steals armor and a bow from a dead guy, sneaks in with the bad guys, then shoots the villain. Ummmm hold up. First, no one noticed she's wearing a dress? These are supposed to be highland knights and they don't question her dress? Second, SHE FLAT OUT SAYS SHE'S NEVER SHOT A BOW AND ARROW BEFORE. GTFO. I have shot a bow and arrow. It's hard AF. You need to know how to notch the arrow, you need the strength to pull back, and aiming is HARD. But her aim is perfect because she shoots the villain IN THE HEART. Nevermind that this bow was probably built for a 200+ lb man. Nope. She's able to pull it back enough and aim well enough to shoot his heart.

I can suspend disbelief a lot. Like, a lot. I don't mind letting certain things go. But no way in HELL should this book have more than 2 stars. And that's being generous. I hope this review truly helps someone and I hope this author does some serious soul searching (and maybe takes some classes) to become a better writer. She's not good. This book (and it's predecessors) are not good. 0/10 do not recommend.

This is the 3rd book in the series but can be read as a stand-alone. This is a fast-paced read with lots of drama and suspense. Alice has obsessed over the boy she met only for minutes when she was younger and when she sees his portrait she is shocked to learn he lived centuries ago. When she is pulled into the past will she uncover the truth as to why they met? Lots of twists and turns and great chemistry. I really liked it.

First time for a Blanche Dabney novel. I'm truly happy to see that there are two others I need to read. I will be going in search of them as soon as I post this review. I loved the writing. It is well paced, and well written. I love the characters. I love the story. I love the way the time travel is explained. It was a fascinating read, and who doesn't love a broad shouldered, well muscled Highlander? I'm off in search of the other books!! Thank you, Blanche!!

Another good one!

This book was another good one but I felt it could've had more details in every aspect of highland living. As well as with the female character who time-travels it felt fast,run-through.. Of course, I love all time-travel novels so this will do.

Great Trilogy

What a great read. Easy to read as the grammar is almost perfect and so does not detract from the enjoyment. Although it was a time travel trilogy, each story was individual not following the same pattern. I really enjoyed them.

This is a sweet, romantic story, but, Ramsey is more of a fool than a laird. As children, Alice and Ramsey met when he was sent to the future to test the way, and ended up saving her. She fell in love with him then, and stayed in love with him for 10 years. She finally decides to go back to Scotland to see if she can find him, and ends up in the past. She has a destiny in the past, to bear the MacClean heir, but is Ramsey meant to be the father, or the man who locked him in the dungeon. He keeps having to be rescued by others, while the acting Laird is busy starving the clan and also trying to get Alice to agree to marry him. There's a shocker at the end, one you won't guess at or expect. Other than Ramsey being weak, it's a good story.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. This is my honest and voluntary opinion of it.
