Rafael started college thinking it’d be a fresh start. But when an illegal godstone rolled to his feet, it became an adventure. Now he’s a conduit channeling the Aztec trickster god Huehuecoyotl alongside the beautiful but mysterious streetfighter Freyja. Usually it’s awesome. But yesterday, Rafael was shot. Today his partner Freyja is missing. His hotel room, containing a horde of illegal artifacts, is on fire. And the traumatized conduit he’s supposed to be protecting is channeling a lava god. The day shouldn’t get worse. Except Freyja’s been sent to rescue a conduit stuck in the Sumerian underworld. To help his partner he’d go to the ends of the Earth. Turns out he needs to go a little farther than that. But in the afterlife they’ll find more than they bargained for—and bring back a dark legacy best left buried. Death Magic is is the second book in a five part romantic urban fantasy. Part Three, Sung Magic, will be available soon!
Jax Garren is the author of hot, urban paranormal romance like the Austin Immortals and the Tales of the Underlight. Though descended from Valkyries and Vikings (she’s part Swedish), Jax was raised a small town girl in the Texas Hill Country. She graduated from The University of Texas with a degree in English and a minor in Latin then found her own Happily Ever After with a handsome engineer who is saving the world through clean energy technology. Jax can be found at jaxgarren.com, at facebook.com/JaxGarren or on Twitter as @JCGarren. She loves meeting new people, so online or in person, make sure to give her a Viking “Hail!” adventure, and love.
The use of magics, the concepts she utilized.... using gods from various pantheons and lore was stunning.
I loved the chemistry between characters, too. I cannot get enough and I wish there were twenty more out right now so I could just stay in this universe for days. Can't wait for the next book!!
Excellent blend of PNR and UF, with the romance arc spread across books. Superheroes, secret identities, underworlds, rock stars and found families. Can't wait for book three!
