This is a very good story about a very young Lady Selina Drake daughter of the Earl of Quinton. Selina goes off to visit her Uncle, Aunt and cousin because her parents are vacationing in Paris. Selina cousin Leah is 23 about to be permently put on the shelf. But she is now been betroth to Jasper the Duke of Gillingham. Leah admits over and over she doesn't love Jasper and he doesn't love her. Leah just wants to be a powerful rich Duchness and living in the glorious the Gillingham Manor house.

But one look at 17 year old Selina and the Duke falls head over heels in love. Selina'a parents have seen to her traveling with them all over the world. Since she was a baby and introducing her to art, history, foods and cultures of other countries. She is very intelligent and very well read. Everyone falls in love with this beauty. Her cousin Leah is very jealous of Selina.

Selina and Jasper fall deeply in love and he is going to break his engagement to Leah. But it takes him to long and Leah finds out and goes into a rage. At the same time there are robbers afoot stealing from rich titled people that live in the area. They also, have murdered Lady Langdon.. We never find out why she was murdered and none of the other.

This story is full of twist and turns. At first I thought I knew who the bandit was and then I changed my mind. But my first choice was correct. Him and his accomplices should have been hung. Instead he is given life in prison and one of the other accomplices who wasn't in on the murder or robberies got 6 months in prison.

I really enjoyed this story. But it got really annoying at times when every page is filled up with My Lord, My Land, and Your Grace. It was used as a filler. I also didn't like how long it took Jasper to break with Leah. The story is NOT Steamy at all there is one quickie love scene at the end of the story. Thats Not Steamy. All in All I thought it was a great story!!

Silly stupid story: jasper is smart and handsome but throughout the whole storyline he never knows how to proceed. He knows there is danger and still wants to see Selina in secret. Selina is nice and strong but also stupid, knows what is best but does the opposite.
Writing style is childish. Characterss don't grow. The only interesting part is the murder plot.
Feel it is a waist of time to read books by this author

OH DEAR! A Regency Mystery💀 and Romance💕

Twists and turns every which way in this theft and murder💀 mystery that takes place along side a sweet and emotional Regency romance.

Don't know that I would call this a "steamy" romance because there isn't an ADULT scene until the very end!

This is a very long book but the theft and murder💀 mystery builds up slowly, and it was so interesting I just kept on reading! There was no repetition in the story, unlike many books of this type.

The Duke🐺, the 💘love interest in this book, dithered a lot along the way to the happy ending, which was frustrating at times.

Some of the dialogue was ridiculous and laughable, but I sincerely enjoyed the whole book! I believe this is the author's first Amazon publication.

This is such a beautiful and thrilling story of love and betrayal. The story kept the pages turning and kept me constantly invested in what was happening to the characters. I adore the way that Jasper and Selina wanted to wed for love and wouldn't let anything get in their way of getting there. I'm a sucker for a happy ending!

Part of the A Steamy Historical Regency Romance Novel series a well written mystery with a very good storyline. This is Lady Selina Elisabet Drake, and Lord Jasper Henry Munro's story there is suspense, drama, danger, murder, two villains that are not expected, and romance. I wonder if Lord Stephen Sandbourne gets a story.

Well, this book was a huge disappointment. Initially, I was drawn to this book by its synopsis: a lady falls in love with her cousin's fiancee. Sounds like a great plot but that's where it ends. Immediately reading the first few chapters, I was already bored. The MC's "love story" seemed to just be purely physical and based on appearance rather than "love." The MCs lacked depth and their conversations were very plain, just filler for the book. I wanted to see the attraction. I wanted to see the emotional upheaval and journey these two characters went through to be together (things that are essential to a romance novel). I merely finished the novel just to see how the book ended. Overall, this book is nothing special. In fact, I'm quite surprised by all the 3-5 star reviews...

Also, there were tons of grammatical and spelling errors in this book. I actually took notes of these errors and there were at least 5 on every page. There were way too many commas used in this book that I got annoyed. The overuse of "my lord," "my lady," "your grace," etc. was very annoying. Every page contained these words and made the book seem cheap.

A fantastic book from a fantastic new author. The main characters are Lady Selina Drake and Jasper Munro, the Duke of Gillingham. Lady Selina travels to the estate of her Aunt and Uncle to stay with them while her parents are in Paris. She arrives just in time to attend the engagement party of her cousin, Lady Leah and the Duke of Gillingham. To say that the cousins have a complicated relationship would be an understatement. Lady Leah HATES Lady Selina. That's because Lady Selina is not only beautiful but she is also intelligent and well traveled for a woman of her time period. She charms EVERYONE and Lady Leah is not thrilled to share her limelight with her.

When Lady Selina and the Duke meet for th first time at the engagement party, they are both thunderstucked. They fall deeply and madly into love. And they are unable to deny their feelings despite the fact that Jasper is engaged to her cousin. They end up meeting "secretly" to explore their new love while Jasper, much to the chagrin of Lady Selina, continues to maintain his engagement to Lady Leah. And Lady Leah notices the looks they give each other and she is not a happy Lady.

And if the triangle is not enough, there are three masked men robbing members of aristocracy. Because Jasper is the highest ranking member in their area, he is working with the military to find out who the thieves are and end their reign of terror. Both storylines continue to interact with the other storyline with lots of twists and unexpected developments culminating in an explosive and very unexpected ending. You MUST read this book. It is a real page turner.

I look forward to more books from this talented new author.

I received an ARC of this ebook to read and give an HONEST review.

ONE FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE!!!
Crap on toast! Violet brought the house down, razed the town and left nothing but rubble in her wake. Jumping straight into this thrilling, page flipping bombshell while shenanigans are afoot with stunning nefarious deeds that blasts this bad boy to life flawlessly. Chaos and mayhem sets the pace with this engaging tumultuous adventure that melds this baby together beautifully. Pushing on-ward, coping with the trials and tribulations struggling with all the drama, deceit, intrigue, danger and as suspense compounds while tension spirals thrusting this bad boy to life flawlessly. An arresting storyline and riveting plot reveal an abundance of twists and turns that thrusts this baby to staggering heights. A swirling throng of vexing contingents and a bevy of surprising mishaps catapults those swirling emotions bursting into play. Throw in all mystery, turmoil and distress and you have one intense rollercoaster ride. The characters traits, qualities and depth are well balanced and blended with enough flaws to keep it real. The scenes and dynamics are written with such realism it's no problem interpreting each scenario as they play off one another smoothly. Amazing job Violet, thanks for sharing this little guy with us.

The hero and heroine are oddly unlikable

*Spoliers* So the story in itself with the mystery was actually pretty interesting. And the brother is the most interesting character in the book up until he becomes a complete villian for seemingly no reason at all. The author doesn't bother to explain his motivation for being a villian other than he was some how hiding being a complete asshole and monster even to his own mother. The hero is such a Lilly livered sap most of the book despite being a wealthy Duke. Like I understand why the cousin is pissed he dragged things out until she was approaching spinsterhood if he didnt marry her then had the nerve to fall in love with the person she most dislikes. The Heroine starts off as this strong, likable person to dissolve into a bit of an asshole herself justifying her terrible behaviour because she is "in love". To justify the couples shitty behaviour and attitudes the author decides to make the cousin villian #2 which also ruins her parents lives who are seemingly good if not stupid people who welcomed their niece into their home while her parents are away only to have her and their daughters fiance abuse their kindness.

What a wonderful story!  Sins of an Intoxicating Duchess is a heart stopping novel by
Violet Hamers. With amazing character chemistry that are believable and easy to relate to, from the first page and throughout I was totally captivated. Each and every character came to life and you find yourself drawn into their story. It's a rollercoaster ride full of twist and turns through a web of deception. Jasper and Selina are so well developed you feel every emotion that they are feeling throughout their story and become very endearing as the story progresses. It's heart pounding story with plenty of drama, treachery, trials and tribulations hope, family trials, and all the suspense which leaves you sitting on the edge of your seat.

What a great storyline. A who done it with surprising twists and turns. The characters were well written. Very realistic and natural. The story from the beginning had me hook line and sinker. I could not put the book down. There was something going on each page. Whether it be action, tense emotions or awkward situations the scenes flowed easily from one to another. Violet Hamers has a new fan. *Violet, congratulations on a superb debut novel. It is excellent and I highly recommend it.

I loved the storyline of this story. I like how the author added a brand new twist to your traditional Regency romance story. I also loved the characters. I found them so lifelike and could relate to each of them in different ways. Excellent job on the characters!

I also loved the twist about the Duke's brother. I never would have seen that coming! Can't wait to read more from Violet Hamers.
