Demons & Devils

Rate this book
Demon Hunter isn’t exactly a job description you hear every day. But with my rare ability and a mentor like Father Peter it’s all I’ve got.

It’s dangerous, but I have Daniel who always keeps me safe. Well, that is until ghosts start to attack me and I draw the unwanted attention of a secret society, which hails from Rome.

They know my past doesn’t add up, but they’ve always turned a blind eye, or so I thought. Their investigation into the demonic activity raises more questions than I’m willing to answer.

But as all the lies start to unravel and my past rises from the ashes, I just might end up causing the apocalypse …

Although this book was a fairly decent read, there were times that it just kind of drug. This book is a cliffhanger. The main female character, Abigail, was really self-centered to me. Her actions affected everyone she works with and the way she pretty much ignored Daniel except when she needed him made me dislike her. Daniel, however, was great. I felt really bad for him as each time he tried to get it across to Abigail how much she meant to him she just blew him off, yet he still wanted to be by her side.

Abigail was taken in by Father Peter when she was 11 years old, after her family died. She is now a demon hunter, and something more. There are forces that want her dead so they can use her as a warrior.
Daniel was sent as Abigail's guardian and gave up everything to be by Abigail's side to protect her always. But they want him back. They want him for this upcoming war.

Who, or what, is Abigail? While she survive when she finds out who her father really is? Will they let her survive?

And Daniel? What exactly is he?

Hopefully the questions not answered in this book will be answered in the next one.

I was completely lost in this story. Not only because there was too much to wrap my mind around but also because I read it out of breath while turning pages as mad woman. As all information kept surfacing one by one, I understood more, but was still left with other questions. And often was told otherwise once I made my mind about something. World created here is definitely interesting. Abigail is not an easy character, her past resurfacing all the time is not easy for her, she drinks heavily to forget, to not feel, to not think; she is destroying herself, and over things she not understand, blaming herself for thing she had no power over either. She is pushing everyone out, spiraling out of control. And her life is also spiraling out of control. I admired Zee, for always being there for her, even when she pushed him out so much; her protector with the deepest love for her. There is still so much to understand, to discover and hundred of questions hanging in my head. It was dark read, but so good as well.

I liked the concept but for a daughter of Hades, she was kind of useless and had to have Zee save her all the time.

I loved this story but it took me awhile to like Abigail but I did eventually I really liked Daniel who was sent to be Abigail’s guardian who eventually fell for her. Abigail is a demon hunter and something more she doesn’t know anything about her past and she was taken in by father Peter at 11 years of age he taught her how to be a demon hunter a warrior. There is a secret society out there they know more about Abigail than what she does about herself and anytime she gets into danger Daniel is there to save her. There is a war coming so will Daniel answer the call or will he leave everything including Abigail behind?. This story ends on a cliffhanger and I can’t wait to read the next book in this series and I highly recommend this book. 4 and a half ⭐️.

This is an interesting view of the church, and how it keeps track of its interests.

The characters are very raw, and their pain draws you in. Everyone has their week spot for the injured and broken, those cast aside, and the heroine that beats themself up for never doing enough. Add to that the tantalizing secrets that Zee shares, and keeps from Abigail, and it's an instant hook. I also luv the premise for how the church monitors the abnormal people that they find. They take their special abilities, that could be a liability, and use it for all its worth.
