Undercover Witch Academy; Second Year is book two in Rachel Medhurst’s Undercover Academy series. This book continues on from First Year, after the dance at the academy and the Snake-Napper/Killer dies and a new student has no magic left.

Holy Moly can a girl catch a break. Alishia thought that with the Snake-Napper/Killer being dead she would be able to focus on proving that Dracian had killed her parents, but no it’s seems that there is someone else out there stealing the other witches powers and Alishia, Dracian, Isabel, Helissa and James are smacked bang in the middle. Will the gang be able to prove it’s not Alishia taking the powers and will she be able to find the evidence needed to prove Dracian is the killer?

This was so freaking awesome, I thought book one was good but this one took the icing. So much action, adventure, secrets and kicka**ing was involved and a little romance to balance it out. Past secrets and new friendships and enemies are revealed. I loved this book so much, the character development and friendship growths was great to see. Hopefully Alishia will continue to trust and rely on her friends for what’s to come next.

A fast-paced follow up.

Again, Alishia has to solve a mystery where academy students are depleted of their magic. Finally, Alishia comes her life goal nearer to be one of the best agents and to be the first illusionist witch in the agency. Throughout, she struggles with her developing feelings for Dracian and finds out more about the Institut.
Alishia works on her trust issues by telling her friends more about her past and by including them in her investigation. She confronts Dracian about her suspicion and is very surprised by the outcome. At the end, the Institut shows its true colours and the fight begins.
The plot is really interesting. It is really sad that the book is again so short. Moreover, there were just some ridicules dialogues and actions where one says this and then does that, very confusing. For example, she knows that Dracian is powerful but when three witches attack her she puts a barrier up, so that her friends cannot help her. That is strange and a bit illogical.

DNF - 1/3 through. I can’t even with this author. More constant lip licking and a main character that everyone seems to revere for no reason. She constantly makes bad choices, lies and deceives and thinks she knows everything. Don’t even get me started on the whole trope of all adults are idiots and only us bumbling teenagers are capable of saving the day. Puh-lease.

This was the most suspenseful book in the series this far and honestly it fell flat. It was an ok story like the other one but failed to keep me engaged and not memorable. Not bad but not great. 2.5 stars

The second chapter in Alishia's story picked up right after the first chapter ended, with Alishia dealing with her illusionist witch challenges, her drive to find the person responsible for her parents' deaths, and her progress toward learning to trust others and let them in. I love the storyline and the action/drama of Alishia's life, as well as that of her friends and classmates. The mystery and twists definitely kept me reading much later at night than I should have been! I always love Ms. Medhurst's creative and imaginative writing; and I truly enjoy the way she develops characters that I care about and become invested in. I also appreciate her world-building and I find the magical elements incredibly entertaining! Now I just can't wait to see how this series ends - we're perfectly set up for the next chapter, now that we have some important questions answered and some new ones to investigate!

This story picks up pretty much were the 1st year saga left of with Alicia still intent on outing Dracian for killing her parents, even though her feelings for him are softening. Meanwhile someone is stealing witches magic and the crew are determined to capture the perpetrator in this YA spinoff from the MI5 and Undercover Witch Agency stories.
There's plenty of action, a little romance, an interesting and sympathetic villain and even a cameo appearance from Devon Jinx. I love the way Rachel Medhurst combines magical elements with typical, high school hyjinks. Alicia's fangirling on Devon is sure to make you smile.
As the title indicates, this is likely to be a longer term committment, so if you're a one and done sort, you might not want to start the series - at least until you can binge read them all together, but they're relatively short and loads of fun.

I expected this paranormal YA story to end with a cliffhanger so it wasn't a shock when it did, and it wasn't a terrible one. Yes, there's more to come, but there was somewhat of a conclusion to the challenges Alishia was facing, at least for now. The book is fast-paced and enjoyable, but it didn't tap into my emotions. It's not that I don't care about the characters. I like them well enough. I just don't feel what they feel. I realize that Alishia is upset about her parents and conflicted about Dracian and afraid of The Institute, but her emotions are not palpable to me. It's still a good story and I recommend it. Not every story needs to make you feel the emotions of the characters to be worth reading, and I think this one is worth reading.

Must-read! Loved the second part.

Picking up where the first book left off, Rachel continues with Alishia still being accused of stealing magic from fellow witches to fuel her unusual magic.
Will she be able to unravel the mystery, save those drained to the brink of death and clear her record in time, or will she fall prey to the monster behind the attacks while selflessly helping others?
All, while pursuing her original reason for coming to the academy, proving Dracian guilty of murder even though her heart thinks differently?

Reading this book, you will never know what to expect when turning the page. Be ready for some splendid surprises and a nerve-grating cliffhanger. Can't wait for book three!

Just Super

Alishia is still in trouble. No-one believes that she isn't responsible for draining some students powers. She is receiving letters from the blackmailer and each is more threatening than the last. Dracian, and her mixed emotions about him, still have her reeling. But, she has two loyal friends (3 is she wants to count Dracian) and the staff believes she is innocent. When she finally gets word from the blackmailer, he wants to set up a meeting. Everything seems to go wrong after that but she is not a person to let bad circumstances defeat her.
An exciting book about a girl who is coming of age and learning to love herself. Now, if she can just live to graduate, that would be just super.

Rachel Medhurst is back, with Undercover Witch Academy: Second Year. Short version review: if you liked book 1 you’ll love this is. The lead here, Alisha, is a fantastic character. She’s the first illusionist witch able to syphon magic from everything and everyone. Unfortunate the downside of this is that, with student's still losing their magic, she’s suspect number 1. Even worse is that working with her apparent worst enemy, Dracian Dread (who is so much more), is seemingly the only find the real culprit. What follows is another superbly crafted and well written plot, with a perfect and perfect world-building. Also totally fun. Exactly what I look for and easily worth five stars.

Alishia's going to prove she has what it takes to be an agent.

There are things happening behind the scenes and Alishia wants to find out. I was so glad when she found out Dracian's part in her parent's murder. Will she allow him to get close to her? When they team up to find who is stealing powers they find a lot more than they ever expected and puts Alishia right in the crosshairs. I love the world created for the Hunted Witch Agency and Devon is so cool. Bet nobody wolf whistles at her again!

So much happens in the Second Year!

What a suspenseful, action packed 2nd book at the academy. All my favorite players are back and getting into trouble and trying to go behind the teachers backs to find the culprit stealing magic. This is a fun book with mystery, surprises and some nail biting moments. I look forward to the next book, especially after that big surprise at, the end! Not a cliff hanger, just something to look forward to.

I recieved an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review so here it is:

Alishia and her friends once again find themselves in the thick of it in this second book of the series.
Undercover Witch Academy book 2 gives you all the excitement and thrill that you got from the first book while expanding on the world the characters live in as well as the characters developing more.

You won't regret grabbing your copy of this book!

Great story

This book has all the right elements: magic, adventure, intrigue, fighting, a bit of love and a surprise ending. I thoroughly enjoyed the book, especially getting to know the characters better. I found Alishia to be very relatable with all the emotions going on in her head over things big and small. I also enjoyed the unique problem she and her friends faced in this story. I thought it was great having them collaborate with the teachers to solve the problem.

Adventure

To me there could be a little more details about the settings, plot, and characters. Other than that it's a great book. It is exciting and dangerous all the same. I can't wait for the 3rd book to come out.

Love this series. Rachel Medhurst continues Alishia's story without missing a step. This book finds an enemy becoming a frenemy and then maybe a whole lot more. But, now there is a whole new twist to the mystery and Alishia is in the middle again.

Clearing up

A lot of the murk in the books is beginning to clear up and a path becoming evident. Alisha has her allies, backup and teachers to go on an adventure with. Hopefully the bad guys will lose and the good guys win! Pretty cool and twisty story.
