I thought that this book was absolutely delicious! Dark, intense, sizzling hot and filled with tension, Sophia and Wrath's story takes you on one epic thrill ride. The chemistry between these two is insane and the cat and mouse game they play is as steamy as it is suspenseful. If you enjoy dark romances that feature a hot bad boy that loves to dominate and a strong, fiery woman that craves surrender, you do not want to miss this wonderful read. This is my honest, voluntary review.

This is a fast-paced steamy mafia read with loads of drama, suspense and intensity. Wrath is a mafia assassin and Sophia an FBI agent sent to protect his target. Sparks fly between them and the chase begins can they find a way to be together being from two such different worlds? Great characters and a story that draws you in from beginning to end. I loved it!

Not quite sure how I feel about this one.
I have read quite a few Mafia romance stories but this one left me a bit uneasy.
SPOILER ALERT:
I had trouble justifying Sophia's instant response to Wrath when she was supposed to be looking out for a man she was to be protecting. Sure, we all want to grab red hot sex on a stick when we can but this seems illogical when she's supposed to be a professional.
Also, while a hot romance should have amazing sex there was such an abundance of it that it almost feels like the story was just tossed it there as an afterthought. And if some man kept lying to me over and over again if he asked me to trust him I'd have told him to get bent even if he did have a magic tongue and dick. Nobody is worth that much aggravation. But to each their own. Personally I would have enjoyed it more with more story and less sex.

You guys have read books like male FBI agent and female serial killers? But have you ever read, female FBI agent x male assassin? This right here was the shit minus a few things.
So, we have both Sophia and Wrath meeting each other one night when they are suppose to be doing a task assigned. In this case, Sophia was to protect a high profile man while Wrath was to kill this man. The agents knew that there was a new player in town, Wrath, killing these high profile men so she was tasked to go undercover and find out. They have tons of hot and steamy sex and when I mean tons, I mean 85% of the time in this story. That was my problem, dark romances books always have to have at least a chapter of sex each time when all I want is some action. I went into this book wanting to see the hunt go down, the killings, the whole mystery shenanigans but all I got the majority of time was plan old sex. Nothing is wrong with a good old smut story but if you were told this was a dark mystery - type mafia story and the trope was FBI agent x assassin.. then you would probably understand where I am coming from.
The ending made up for what I was feeling, the action was more fast paced when it should have been throughout the story but nevertheless, it was indeed well written. I like the way this book was written. It was nice!! Also, I did like the way that Wrath was overly obsessed with her and the twist at the end was literally thrown at my face.. LIKE WHAT?!?!?

I'm honestly surprised that I've finished this book.
More than once I was tempted to just stop and never look back.
The story telling was bad. Bad for me. People who like to read have great imagination, at least I do. That's why I prefer books over movies. Sure I'll enjoy a movie or a show from time to time. But movies have limits to what they can realistically portray, my imagination doesn't.
And that's why story telling in books are so important. It leads your imagination. Yet if there's a plot hole my imagination gets angry. It's very meticulous and detail oriented. If the book tells me there's a gun but then it disappeared - I will wonder. I will ponder, I will try to place it. It would be all dandy but it's not where my focus was supposed to be in that particular scene so at this point I'm annoyed. Plus throw in the lack of world building, the questionable heat and mediocre(at best) BDSM play and its just mehh...
I thought at least the suspense part of the story would be ok as it involved some moral dilema for the MC but there too I've been left with fields of disappointment.
I just realized that nothing leaves me as angry as an unsatisfactory read.

I freaking love this book! Yes, the only bad thing I can say is that a portion of it dragged and I wanted to scream but then I thought to myself, just get through the nitty gritty because it’s needed to get through the story.
Man, there were twists and turns. One sexy AF alpha hero. A badass FBI agent heroine set out to stop him. It’s honestly an amazing story. Everything was so well put together and it ended in the sweetest way.
I wanted to cry during around the 70% mark. There were moments I didn’t think this couple could ever make it.
We follow the story of Sophia Waters and Wrath along a journey of self discovery. As individuals they baffle with what they really want. They are they only ones that can full full the others needs.
You could really feel the love between the two characters in this story. You can literally feel it. It was beautiful. That’s the best word I can use, beautiful. And for me it was perfect. I loved them both and their relationship.

She didn’t know she would encounter the assassin and he would ultimately become her lover, and master. Ricardo Wrath Constantino didn’t realize he would find the only woman who would fit every need he had and that was to dominate. She pretended she was a card shark and he was the police officer who caught her cheating. There cat and mouse game of trying to catch his prey and she trying to arrest him created electrifying chemistry that neither could go without. His ultimate assignment was to kill her but his love for her freed his soul. Their true identities unfolded as well as the uncovering the mole in the department. To protect her he had to fake their deaths. This story was so good I didn’t want to put it down, highly recommend.

A very exiting read full of tension and a thrilling romance. Even on opposite sides of the ”morality” they have such a fun and teasing relationship. The way they are both trying to outsmart the other is just hilarious and it makes the dominance even hotter.

Sophia is undercover trying to locate a notorious assassin and keep a target safe. Wrath has his handful with the woman who has captivated his attention. These two were explosive and undeniable, despite being in the opposite sides of the law. However, something bigger inserts it's presence into their complicated interactions and increases the danger and excitement within the plot. It was definitely an intriguing read.

Where do I start.....Ms. Stone has written a gripping and compelling, cat and mouse , lust driven, chemistry laden hell of a mafia ride story.
One an assassin and one in law enforcement, but when these two tangle in and out of the sheets, it is fiery, combustible, full of domination and submission and mesmerizing to read.
They will play a complex game between them that will include murder, danger, intrigue, suspense, pursuit and capture. It will involve contracts on their lives, betrayal by those close to them and unexpected allies.
In the end their decisions may prove to be their undoing, or the beginning of a new future.

This is just an interesting read I really enjoyed getting to know these characters they definitely give off spark flying energy right away! I personally been wanting to read this story since I first found out about it a little while ago so to get fresh look into an older but renewed book is a delight. I really enjoyed Sophia’s spunk a lot it’s one of my favorites in this book I felt like she brings out the best in Wrath! There is a lot more than what happens on the surface that’s for sure in this dark journey. I felt like throughout reading this story I saw growth/ healing between the two main character that made my heart very happy. The both deserve more than what they’re parents gave them! A story full of mystery, determination, enemies to lovers, conflict all the way around, and so much more! Get ready for epic battles in this crime full book:) I totally can see this being a series even though it’s a standalone I would love more of it! I for one couldn’t put down.

Can a life where years of training and being sworn to uphold the law at all costs be enough to keep someone from choosing a life where love and unbridled passion are the most important things? Ashlie/Sophia has been tasked to go undercover to find the Player when she meets Wrath and succumbs to flirtation and they spend a steamy night together that was supposed to be just one moment where she allowed herself to live for herself for once instead of the job. Maybe their attraction to each other (besides both being absolutely gorgeous) is that because of their childhood experiences, they recognized a kindred spirit of sorts. This is a well written, suspenseful book of enemies to lovers but not a story that has a guaranteed HEA. There are some surprising twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat. I would give this more stars if the system allowed!.

It's amazing that two such souls should be on opposite sides since deep down they have some things in common that cause them to crave darker erotic encounters, whereas she keeps denying them until she meets him while doing her job. She figures after they're night together that he's her target, but he's left a mark on her soul. Ricardo never sleeps with a woman for more than one night, but he finds that he can't get Sophia out off his mind. With both their organizations out to get them, they must make a decision. I love the characters and the storyline as well as the worldbuilding, which is excellent. It's a fast paced adventure that's full of danger as well as hot and steamy romance that's a delight to read! Bravo!.

Piper captured me from the first chapter and held me spellbound to the last page! I fell in love with Sophia, a strong female protagonist to Ricardo’s darker side. Yet Ricardo feels alive for maybe the first time since his chosen profession dealt him and it is all because of the submissive he barely knows. They may both be playing characters far from their jobs, but the fact that they fit so well is truly surprising to each! While Sophia works with her FBI partner to hunt the invisible assassin, she can’t forget the two times she left her past behind to experience what she only could put to words before. When Ricardo entices Sophia for their next encounter, the steam is through the charts, but life intrudes much too quickly. How will it all end? You have to read to find out!

Where do I start? I have not read any Piper Stone's book yet I wouldn't love. This is a rare phenomenon. Whether one of her series or a standalone story, I devour them all with equal devotion.
This one is no different. As always, fabulous writing, brilliant intrigue, great characters you can easily imagine, the story full of twists and turns, almost making me believe we might not have a happy ending. But we do. And that's not a spoiler alert, that's just how it is.
Totally worth reading, highly recommended.

Ashlie is an FBI agent who is undercover to secure an important businessman who is a target for an assassin. She attracts the attention of Wrath the assassin who takes her into custody for cheating at Blackjack. They spend a steamy night which finds her handcuffed to the bed in the morning.
They develop a relationship which goes against everything Ashlie believes in.
They are both targeted by his older brother who is also an assassin.
He takes the bullet intended for her, killing his brother.
There is a spectacular ending to the story which was very surprising.
The plot is quite complex with multiple subplots. The heat and attraction between Wrath and Ashlie is off the charts. This is a binge worthy read.

A very hot and steamy story that is captivating as you watch Wrath and Sophia deal with the consequences of their actions and the betrayal that could end their lives. Another stellar book by Piper.
