Polly Giller is out and about early on a Saturday morning, driving through Bellingwood with Noah and Elijah, after picking them up from an overnight church function. When she comments on seeing Ralph Bedford's orange pickup truck in a strange driveway with the driver's door open, Noah tells her the truck hasn't moved since last night. Even the boys know what Polly might find when she heads for the front door of the house. It's spring break in Bellingwood and this event is only the beginning. Engagement photoshoots bring friends into town, a new baby unravels poor Cat, a new dog in the house adds fresh excitement, and a rushed trip to the ER with Jason introduces a friend we'll get to know better down the road. Add to that, renovation in the auditorium at Sycamore House, a funeral (who puts the fun in funeral? Bellingwood does), and a curious mystery to solve and you know that Polly is holding on with all she has. Rebecca is planning a party in the foyer, Sal needs a plumber, and Beryl is still trying to trip up the local bartenders. It never really stops. But that's the life we all know and appreciate.Welcome back to Bellingwood.
29 books and the series still hasn't gotten old. I think that's because there's so much familial love in these books, reading each one is like pulling a cozy blanket over you. Yes, there's murder, mayhem, craziness, and the typical bad moods of life with children. And yet, the over-riding feeling of every book is love. No matter what else is on my reading list, when a new Bellingwood book comes along, it gets read right away.
Polly goes to pick up her boys early in after a sleepover and drives by a neighbors house and sees the drivers door open. On the way back pass the house again one of her sons spots the drivers door open is still open. It seem strange so Polly stop to see if everything is OK. She knocks on the door and hears banging and the dog in the house. She calls out and goes in, she finds Lenore and her date gagged and tied up with pillow cases over their heads. He says after he is untied I was waiting for you I knew she passed sometime last night. Polly has another death to deal with along with family in town with a surprise and this lady left all her money to the Sycamore Foundation and a key to a safe. But no one can find it. Another great read!
I am so enamored with this book series. I read the books slowly so it feels current to me. I love the new mystery of this book and how it was solved, the moment I thought my girls were in trouble all was saved by one of them. The way these men love their wives/girlfriends in this book series is how all men should love their wives. I learn more patience with each book I read from this series. Polly is a great mother and now grandmother. The foundation will be able to do so much good with the estate left to them. I am ready for the next installment!
Lots of people who are friends, their families, pets& homes interact and love one another. They learn to accept newcomers, do fun stuff together, have babies and survive the new parent difficulties. A little mystery crops up, a death occurs, funerals happen and life goes on. Fun and calm existence descends for readers, too.
I enjoyed reading this book. The story was I interesting. As Polly was trying to figure out who would want to break into an older persons house she ended up discovered a number of interesting things. I was surprised where the safe was found and what was inside the safe.
These are the type of books I love and hate at the same time. As you read you get swept into the lives of the wonderful people who are in an adventurous friendship with Polly. I get drawn into the people and their lives and when I read the last book it seems as if I've moved away and lost them all. Mrs.Muir' books are wonderfully written!
I really love this series. I try to figure out where Poly finds the next dead person, who she is going to be with and how it all happened. They kind of remind me of the Clue game. It was Mrs. White, with the knife in the kitchen. LOL I just really love reading the stories.
Diane never fails to deliver another page turning full out losing yourself in the storyline novel! Bellingwood always pulls me in and makes me feel as I I live there when I read her stories! I love this series and wish I could rate it even higher!
I love all these books, really want to visit the area one day. Polly has such lovely children and friends and her adventures just make me smile. Keep them coming please
More fun & excitement in the lives of the folks we now think of as neighbors that we know from another town. Looking forward to the next Bellingwood update.
Another good read. She tells Polly's story so well. I looked forward to every page. I think that I will read the series over again, and when I'm finished, another book will be published. Wouldn't that be grand!
There is so much families' challenges, friendship building, woman to woman truism and just murder, mayhem, and Polly, What can I say, I love the series!
Life in Bellingwood goes on. This story has a good plot twist at the end. There are always surprises happening in Bellingwood and the town is populated with very interesting characters.
Wow. So nice to spend time with old friends. This was another great book. At times I feel like Mama Rinaldi peeking over everyone’s shoulder. I always download the book as soln as it comes out but then wait as long as I can to read it. Usually at least a week but no more than 2. I made it 10 days this time. Really enjoyed it. My 99 year d mother in law loves the series too. Thanks
Another story of Bellingwood and the changes in the town after Polly arrive. I think my favorite part of the book is Polly's relationship to all the different folks (friends, family animals and more) and her love and appreciation for people and her not so subtle ways of wanting to change them or improve their lives. The mystery part of the story is an added bonus.
