A Perfect Match

Compatible? Never. But the numbers don't lie. Sports reporter Mitch MacKinnon is stuck writing an expos about a local dating service, and no amount of foot-dragging or complaining will get him out of it. When he gets a look at the sexy blonde owner, things start looking up. He'd love the chance to date Juliette Lowell a time or two. But he's here to dish the dirt that'll be his ticket to a big-time newspaper; a relationship is the furthest thing from his mind. Juliette's got Mitch pegged from the word go-he's an overgrown jock who wouldn't know a true emotion if it was wrapped in pigskin. Delicious dimples and killer brown eyes aside, the man is incredibly infuriating. All she needs is one chance to prove she can find a perfect match for anyone. Even him. Then her "foolproof" database spits out the results. Mitch's perfect match? Juliette. If she's right, Mitch will have to eat his words-and the story that'll take him to the top. This title contains hot, sweaty couch dancing; long, slow, hot, wet kisses that last three days, and toe-curling romance.

Now I know why many people haven't read this book.

The heroine is a big hypocrite who talks out of both sides of her mouth. On the one hand, she supposedly has this foolproof method to find people their perfect match but on the other, she's considering a marrying man she doesn't love because she needs to be "secure". And you know what kind of "security" we're talking about? Staying in one place for the rest of her life because boohoo! they moved a lot when she was a child and that left her terribly, terribly scarred *cries crocodile tears*. Because everybody knows that a man who's grounded in one place is always a perfect husband, they will never beat you, or develop a drinking habit, or ignore you, or be a bad father. Specially when they don't love you as they should!

Then, when she meets the man that her matchmaking system says will be the perfect man for her, she doesn't want to date him because she's afraid the man would want to move. The hero almost has to coerce her to see him! I mean, REALLY!! How dare you try to sell something that you wouldn't use yourself?

I'm tired of adults who don't give their parents a break for their mistakes (they're people, not gods.) If you have a grudge against your parents for something that happened in your childhood, freaking talk to them, forgive them and move on. (That's what I did.) Don't use that as an excuse for any stupid behavior in your adulthood.

If the author hadn't been Shelley Bradley, I would have bumped my rating up a bit for "A Perfect Match". But because it was Bradley, I expected just a bit more than I got. This is a perfectly nice contemporary romance, but I expect more than perfectly nice from Shelley Bradley.

Juliette had to grow up fast after the death of her mother. Her father's military career meant constant moves and Juliette become mom for her little sister. Now Juliette and her sister are grown and she's finally settled for good, and she never intends to move again. She also runs a matchmaking service, and is seriously considering a marriage proposal from a successful, settled man. When a reporter shows up to do a story on her business, Juliette is excited and looking forward to touting her success rates as free advertising.

Mitch has itchy feet. He's always looking to live life and doesn't believe in Juliette's business or her services. He would, however, be perfectly happy to 'service' her! When his article isn't as supportive as Juliette would like, his boss suggests Mitch let Juliette set him up on a date. And wouldn't you know it, when Juliette inputs the information in her program, she and Mitch are a match! Looks like Juliette has a few decisions to make.

At just over 200 pages, "A Perfect Match" is a quick, fun read. It has a light helping of Shelley Bradley's signature heat, but is still firmly romance vice erotica.

Small-town journalist Mitch MacKinnon finally has a shot at the big time. The only catch? The cynical sports writer will have to write an article about a local dating service, A Perfect Match. Mitch might not believe in professional matchmaking, but soon finds he can’t get the sexy matchmaker herself out of his mind.

Juliette Lowell is furious when Mitch’s article demeans her business. She issues Mitch a challenge he can’t refuse: register as a client to see how A Perfect Match works. But when Juliette’s system lists Mitch as her perfect match, the two are in for a whole lot more than they bargained for. With sparks flying, can true love be far behind?

Once again, Shelley Bradley delivers. A Perfect Match is pure delight from beginning to end. The story is both hot and romantic, the characters sexy, yet real. Mitch and Juliette are people I could imagine knowing and liking. I was drawn in watching two seemingly opposite people discover how much they had in common and, in the process, learn much about themselves. It may be a contradiction in terms for me to say that Mitch and Juliette’s romance was like a long, slow tumble into love in the space of a heartbeat, but that is exactly how I felt reading the story. A Perfect Match is a luxurious romance without any slow points that I Joyfully Recommend. If you like your books sizzling, fast-paced, with some truly sigh-worthy romantic moments, then Ms. Bradley’s newest tale is your perfect match.

I have to say that I was severely disappointed with this book... And the reason being is that I have no tolerance for cheaters, even if the person found their "true love" and their current partner just isn't the right one for them.. The fact that Juliette strung her current beau Andrew along and kept putting of the mans proposal because she "hadn't made a decision yet" but continued to date/moon-over/kiss/sleep with/fantasise about Mitch pretty much screams to me that that proposal would be a NO! and the fact that she pinned her indecision and cheating ways down to the need for stability and security was just down right insulting. If at the start she was upfront with her beau-at-the-time Andrew and called off their relationship or even just held off on progressing the relationship with Mitch until she 'made up her mind' about Andrew I probably would've enjoyed this story more. But like I said I have no tolerance for cheaters and lost all respect for Juliette when she became one... Ok rant over with :)

Shayla Black is one of my all time favorite authors in this genre. She also writes as Shelley Bradley. I enjoyed the love story of this book but wished for more than the one love scene. Shayla writes awesome love scenes and I wish there had been more. I would recommend this book to fans anyway. If you are anything like me you won’t be happy until you have read everything you can get your hands on from the author!

yawwwn....boring!
This book was not worth the time I took to read it, it took me at least five tries to read it, finally the only reason I finished it was because I skipped paragraphs left and right. There was no connection, hardly romantic, no steaminess to the erotic moments. The book could have been better condensed into a one page abstract!! Waste of time.

This was a really good short read. Juliette and Mitch are somehow both interesting and a little predictable. Unlike most Shayla Black books the sex was sedate and reserved and I found that refreshing. It was still hot but this was definitely more of a Love/Romance novella than I initially expected. Either way I was pleasantly surprised by the sweetness of the story. It was just what I needed.

A sweet love story filled with desire. Although not as fast paced as some of her other work it was a nice slow build to what you wanted to see happen. The only thing that I felt odd was who the hell wants to live in Santa Clarita? LOL.
