Gemma Perfect loves to write. She’s been doing it since she was nine. After a few false starts – self publishing children’s books, and being traditionally published with her romance novella, she has finally found her feet writing young adult historical fantasy books. She is currently writing The Cursed Princess, set five years after The Kingmaker Trilogy finishes, following the adventures of Everleigh's sister, Addyson.

Gemma lives in Wales with her husband Craig and their three boys, Sam, Corey and Oliver. She is happiest when writing, day dreaming and eating smelly blue cheese.

(Spoilers) Firstly I have to say the ending was so unsatisfying but I’ll get to that later. I thought up until the end this was a really good book! Della’s death was so sad and unnecessary but I understand it needed to be done. Will being Everleigh’s brother was such a shock I did not see that one coming at all! Ofia being a traitor was also a shock, I was so suspicious of everyone except her for some reason. I only cottoned on when it said Everleigh felt compelled to lose her magic. Savia being Wolf’s kin was a shock although I knew she was a traitor right from the start, but I didn’t know how. The teacher’s death is what got me. That was so so sad. And then the ending. The whole series has built up to Everleigh being Queen and then she just steps down and Will becomes King??? Don’t get me wrong I get her reasoning but really? For me it ruined the book which is why I gave it 3 stars, up until that point I was prepared to give it 5 stars but that upset me so much. I love Will and I’m happy he’s King but it’s not what I wanted and it’s very unsatisfying. I loved these books so much and for them to end that way really upset me. Also Everleigh isn’t even going to stay at the castle she’s going to travel with the troupe? I didn’t want any of the group to split up and now half are dead and they’re going off with total strangers? Makes me so sad. I did love the book up until that point though.

Impossible puzzle

I loved the premise of this series and I am so disappointed that it didn't deliver. This whole series felt like one of those impossible puzzles. The kind where there's no border and extra pieces. The plot wasn't bound in a way that made sense and there were points that could have been done without. It's also very confusing knowing who is speaking anytime there is more than two characters in a conversation. The series really should have ended after the third book. This final installment just added "twists" and "shocking" deaths and betrayals. If I didn't have OCD and perfectionist tendencies I would have stopped part way through book 2.

*Spoilers following*

The entirety of the series is made pointless at the end! Finding a hidden brother to take over the crown for her? Chalking the ease of an illegitimate child being accepted as the next king up to being a man's world? What was the point of the entire series if Will and Ceryn's daughter will be the next Kingmaker?!? A fake prophecy means what for the future of the kingdom? They don't need a Kingmaker anymore or the old ways will continue? And as always, the book ends with a death.

I really wanted to like this series... This series started out with a nice premise and then around book 3 it become more of a farce with characters interminably chasing other characters and being tricked repeatedly for no good reason. By the end of book 4 it lost credibility. The FMC started out looking like she was going to do some serious personal growth and development and then fell back on the damsel in distress, where's my HEA? trope. Book 4 was rushed as the author tried to tie up all the loose ends. Sadly instead of being satisfying I was left with more of a feeling of "She did what?" Sorry, I really wanted to like it and was determined to read the entire series hoping it would turn a corner.

Interesting

This series isn’t what I would normally read, but I did find it interesting. There is a lot heart ache in this book which I found surprising and little unneeded at times. The characters were good but some come across a little Predictable at times in story. Overall it was an ok read if you like fantasy series. I was just little disappointed because I found the romances was flat.

Beautiful ending to a wonderful series. My only complaint was it's much too short!!
I loved how all the characters grew and matured over the course of the story.
I was a bit surprised that she never got to use her powers! I was kind of hoping she kicked some ass and took names lol!
But I guess she did follow her own heart. She never really did want the whole thing anyway...just to LIVE!!!
All in all, happy with the ending,😀💕

Gemma, you're a gem!!😇💖😂

I've just finished this after reading the first 3 and I must admit this was better than I expected as the first 3 were a slow burner but worth reading.
