Jade Alters is the author of paranormal romance novels featuring alpha males and feisty women who want a man more than they need him. She distinctly remembers stumbling upon her sister’s romance novel, Daphne du Maurier’s classic Rebecca, at a young age. Boy was she in for a surprise!
Today, after many career twists and turns, Jade spends her days writing - as long as the coffee doesn’t run out, exploring foodie destinations and making questionable decisions. She makes sure her worlds, both real and imaginary, contain a healthy dose of magic.
She is such an openhearted person, doing her bit of good in the world when she comes across Jace. Jace is a broken bear that is trying to just get along in the world after a bad incident and Adelaide is the perfect person to open him up and get him healing. She is a very strong willed person and exactly what he needs in his life. I loved this book, it had it's bits of suspense, romance and my headline says it all.
Still enjoying this authors writing and looking forward to hopefully seeing another story like this come along.

‘Claimed by a Beast’ is the third title in a standalone collection entitled ‘Special Bear Protection’. I have read the first story in this collection, ‘Alpha’s Second Chance’, although I have not reviewed it. I’m not seeing a connection or thread that ties all of these stories together aside from all the men being in the military and bear shifters – for that reason I’d consider this story a standalone. I have read these two titles out of order, which is unusual for me, but so far they feel like individual stories linked only through shifters/military.
Adelaide and Noah make an intriguing couple for many different reasons. Adelaide is a TSA officer who gets a very bad feeling about two passengers debarking from a very long flight with only briefcases – it sets off red alerts in her mind but her boss disagrees. She’ll even go so far as to follow them as she’s offduty around the time they were leaving the airport. The fact that they headed to a secluded area sets off more warning bells but there’s not much more she can do right now. That is the same night she ‘meets’ Noah for the first time through the Hotline she works for (Adi is her shortened name as a counselor there).
Noah has been through hell and back on his latest deployment and is suffering badly from flashbacks, blackouts, and PTSD. What he witnessed would destroy a lesser man and he’s reached out to the hotline his superior recommended never realizing that connection would lead him to his mate – and a whole lot of trouble.
‘Claimed by a Beast’ is full of action, sizzling sexy times, and a couple who really do fit together so well. It’s an emotional journey as we witness what the flashbacks do to Noah and his very real fear that he could unknowingly harm someone, especially a human who is his mate, Adelaide. I enjoyed watching the caring interactions between Adelaide and Noah during and after those times when he was most vulnerable. She is, in may ways, his rock – just as he is her protector. The balance is there and slowly will even out over time. I enjoyed my time in this world, with this couple.

Adelaide was a TSA screener, also known as a passengers’ punching bag, but it was a necessary job and it paid her bills. She watched two men who exited from the international flight from Qatar, which could be up to a 30-hour flight if there were delays. So their traveling with no luggage was a red flag to her. She was off duty, but she owed it to the passengers to keep them as safe as possible, so she followed them. They drove to a lumber camp marked ‘private property’, so she drove home for her second job answering calls for a crisis hotline.
Her first caller was a bear shifter named Noah suffering from PTSD. Someone had betrayed him, the country, and his squadron – he had lost his entire unit. Even though he accidentally blew himself up too, it was the betrayal that ate away at Noah and gave him constant flashbacks. It helped just hearing her voice, but he couldn’t tell her anything. It was classified, or it related to his being a bear shifter – meds would not work, a service dog would not work, he couldn’t even go out for a walk because if he shifted and had a flashback, he could kill people. So Major Noah Novak hung up the phone.
Noah drove to the base to talk to his CO about being allowed to investigate his case. He was told no and returned home. But he got a call later that they needed him to check something for them. Two foreign nationals had entered the country. He needed their names and Noah had the clearance to search the records at any airport in Maine. Noah wondered why Homeland Security wasn’t doing this, but he was glad to have an assignment to distract himself! He passed a beautiful TSA agent, but he couldn’t get her scent with the perfume and cigarette smells in the air. He took the airport videos home to view – and saw later that he had another flashback, this time having also blacked out.
When Adi told him about her brother and why she was on the hotline, they started to share more and connect as friends. Then he asked her to go for a hike with him, in person, and she knew she could no longer stay objective – she cared for him. So she asked her boss to reassign him to another person. She already missed him. So she turned her thoughts back to the mysterious foreign nationals and drove out to the lumber camp again. Noah, in the meantime, started watching more of the airport videos and spotted the beautiful TSA agent he had seen who was now stealthily following the two men across the parking lot. The police gave him traffic footage, so he knew the direction they went.
When Noah tracked them down in his bear form, the woman he had seen at the airport almost ran right into him in the woods! She was frightened, but stopped as soon as she saw him. His bear form made non-bear gestures, so she followed him as she tried to figure why he was acting oddly. He led her to a cabin and turned into a man in front of her -- THE man, the handsome one she had seen at the airport! And he recognized her voice! Was this really Adi?
This was such a wonderful story with characters the reader can absolutely admire for doing the right thing. The author provides an excellent amount of detail to make things become real and let the reader experience their surroundings and feelings. It also helped to keep the tension level up. Her chances of survival at least are better now – but will the two of them be able to survive the gun-wielding terrorists as Noah carries out his mission while he protects his mate?
Beautiful love story. I was hooked from the start of this book & felt a mix of emotions. When Noah & Adelaide first got together she was his councillor over the phone & it was like they had an instant connection whilst she was helping him with his PTSD she also spoke about her brother & how he had been affected in the army slowly they became friends but they both wanted more but couldn't as she was his councillor so she referred him to a new one. She decided to keep her mine occupied with her day job as TSA & her iffy feelings about 2 strange men coming off a flight from Qatar who she told her boss but he just ignored her so she took it upon herself to investigate further. Noah had also been given a surveillance job at the airport about incoming flights from Qatar & was checking video cctv when he saw a woman follow the men who he'd been watching on the recordings & realised he had seen her on the airport earlier in the week so followed her. When he got to where he'd seen her he heard shots & someone running so shifted onto his bear form when he saw the woman she didn't panic as much as he thought she would so he nudged he gently telling her where to go yo get away from the men so she hollowed him up to a cabin in the woods & she slowly went inside but saw him outside turning from bear back to human then followed her inside. He told her they would be safe inside the closet until the men had gone but as they sat on the dark they recognised each others voices & realised who the other was. It became apparent quickly that they had missed each other & felt more than friends & during the time in the cabin they became closer him telling her all about him & her being his mate. They had yo overcome a lot of danger whilst together but she also had evidence she had taken on her phone to show is Co as they were both dealing with the same case. When it was over he realised he didn't want yo go back to active duty not just because he wasn't ready as still having flashbacks but because he wanted yo stay with his mate. I was so glad at the end of the book that after everything they'd been through they came out stronger together. This story had tears, pain, danger, laughter but most of all love.

This book is fantastic! The story of Noah and Adelaide is one of love, loss and finding out you can be loved even if you're broken. Noah is a Major in the Army and has just returned to the states after his team was killed in the line of duty. Struggling to deal with the flashbacks and nightmares, he ends up calling a counseling hotline where he ends up talkiing to Adelaide. She is a TSA agent and the day she first speaks to Noah, she sees two men going through the airport that make her suspicious. A mention of it to her boss is ignored. Over the next few days, she and Noah talk every night and he really thinks she's helping and the two get closer. She soon has to end their relationship that way and then finds herself checking on the men she saw in the airport. This sends her on a journey that will reveal Noah's true nature, as a bear shifter, that he too is looking into these men and have them running for their lives. In the end, they manage to save the day, admit the relationship that is truly between them and move forward to their happily ever after.

Jade Alters introduces us to Adelaide, a TSA agent who is also a part-time counselor for those suffering from post-traumatic stress disorders, and Noah, a bear shifter home from his tour in Pakistan.
Struggling from blackouts, nightmares, and flashbacks from his last mission wherein he alone survived, fate brings Adelaide and Noah together when he decides to call the crisis center and it was Adi who picked up his call. Everything, after that, was history and a HEA that we all know Jade Alters will deliver!
It was a surprise and a pleasant one at that to see that Jade Alters delved into a touchy subject, PTSD. PTSD isn't something to be trivialized at all, even for a storyline, and I am glad that the author was able to give voice to a mental illness, especially when it involves a traumatic event associated with death, serious injury, or any form of violence.

This was a great paranormal romance story. First, we have Adelaide who works as a TSA agent by day and a phone counselor at night (where she has known as "Adi"). She sees some suspicious guys get of a flight (long flight, no luggage) and follows them to a remote house before hightailing it out of there. When she reports her concerns to her boss, he blows her off. Than we have Noah, a special forces soldier and bear shifter, who is fighting PTSD and just happens to end up talking to "Adi" every night on the phone and who gets assigned a case to find two terrorists who may or may not have entered the country through a local airport. Noah is sure he is not ready to be out in public around a bunch of humans, his bear is too close to the surface, but he had no choice but to take the case.
Found out what happens when Adelaide and Noah finally meet in person, he is in bear form and she is fleeing the two terrorists. Things are about to get interesting. I read an advanced copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing it. (But then I bought it!)
Wow loved this book Noah suffering from PTSD and Adelaide was on the counselling line taking his first call they hit it off only for Adi to transfer him to another colleague as she was getting too close to him. Noah finds Adi running from a forest whilst he was in bear form looking for a couple of people of interest he was doing recon. Adi had decided to follow up on the guys from the airport and see what if anything they where up to and that was shooting at her then she runs into a bear that seems to be friendly and wanting for her to move. Noah changes back to human to face Adelaide who screams but takes the shock we’ll only for them to realise who they where. Whilst holed up in the safe bunker they have time to know each other which leads to a physical relationship. Once they are safe and statements are taken Adelaide goes home but she isn’t sure where Noah is and she can’t rest until she sees him when she does Adelaide is so happy and that she is his mate and he wants to stay with her.

Noah has recently returned to the states after a mission that went horribly wrong. He is on the sidelines until he can get control of his flashbacks and nightmares. Adelaide in a TSA agent who's brother suffered from PTSD before his death. Adelaide handles calls on a crisis hotline to honor her brother. Noah needs help so he calls the crisis hotline and speaks with Adi. There is a spark and after a week of calls Adi has to tell Noah she can no longer take his calls and transfers him to another counsellor. Adelaide notices something while working for the TSA and she follows up on her concerns but her boss tells her to leave it alone. Adelaide doesn't listen and gets herself in some trouble but Noah is there to rescue her. Turns out Noah has been asked to follow up on the two mean Adi saw and had concerns about. Noah is a bear shifter and may need all his strength to save Adelaide but how will she take him being a bear? Loved this book, they characters and story are amazing.
Noah was home after his mission went sideways. He lost all his members of his team. He had PTSD and several flashbacks, that were making him and his bear miserable. He was suggested to do calls to a hotline to talk things out. Nothing face to face. Non threatening. Adi worked two jobs. During the day, she was a TSA agent at a Maine airport. Then at night she worked as a hotline counselor. At her day job, she noticed two men only carrying briefcases exiting from terminal, coming from Qatar. There was no way they didn't bring a suitcase. Ali was suspicious. Noah called the hotline, connecting with Ali. They spoke every night, about anything he wanted. Ali was getting caught up with emotion over Noah. She knew she needed to send him to someone else on her team. This book was very involved with Noah's PTSD and her background of counseling. It was done nicely, as there relationship unfolded.
I enjoyed reading this intriguing bear shifter romance with some emotional undertones & found the plot to be well-written & quite suspenseful. The characters are well-developed & strong-willed with react with believable reactions to some of the situations they find themselves in. There is: a young female TSA agent (Adelaide) is chased by terrorists into a forest & is unexpectedly assisted by a bear who later transforms into a human male (Major Noah Novak) who is trying to deal with some devastating memories of his time in the special forces, humans, shifters, terrorists, military, flashbacks/PTSD, mates, drama, intrigue, suspense, secrets, suspicions, danger, threats, devious plans, confrontations, conflict, violence, discovery surprises, determination, compromises, love, contentment, some steamy scenes & a very, satisfying conclusion.
It was sweet, with immediate connection between our two main characters. I liked to see a male character with PTSD (ok, not like because he had it... but because it raising awareness of this problem). He was strong but he did also crumble under flashbacks and nightmares, tried to deal with his own troubles as well as he could, afraid to injure someone during his episodes made him afraid to socialize. Yet there was Adi, she talked with him ,shown compassion, understood him, knew who to deal with his flashbacks and wasn’t scarred of them. By miracle she was also his mate and she was also digging in same story he was making researches on. Perfect meeting in completely imperfect time and situation. Very nice read.
Claimed by a Beast follows Special Forces Operative, and bear shifter, Noah Novak is suffering from PTSD and trying to avoid dragging others into his problems by avoiding being social. Adelaide Saudners (Adi) works at a helpline when she gets a call from Noah, who over time and plenty of conversations, begin to connect and the sparks start to fly between the pair without ever meeting yet. She also works as a TSA agent who also suddenly finds herself being a target for a group of terrorists, the same group who have caught Noah’s attention as well. When Noah claims Adi as his mate, all bets are off. Will the pair be able to build a relationship through the tough times? Or will everything that has happened keep them apart?
Adelaide noted two men with briefcases getting off a long haul flight and thought it was suspicious. Adelaide worked as a TSA screener and when she notices two men with just briefcases getting of a long haul flight from Qatar she finds it suspicious and reports it to her superior But he tells her it was probably nothing and to forget about it. As .she was finishing her shift she watches and follows the two men until they turn off a a road close to her own home. Later she does her shift as a councilor over the phone and talk to a new client named Noah who suffers from flashbacks related to the last military mission. The two men worry her and she goes to check out where they went.

4 1/2 stars! Ali and Noah’s story is unique and engaging - Highly recommend!
Contains subject matter that may be a trigger or offensive to some including adult language, steamy intimate scenes and violence.
This book is a stand-alone story with no cheating and what I would describe as a HFN on its way to being a HEA. I found no reference to a series, although there are several other shifter stories by Jade Alters.
This story has minimal grammatical errors and I became engaged quickly, especially with Noah, who is in the military and dealing with PTSD after a recent tragedy. Ali has had her own family issues to deal with, but fortunately she is a strong female who is not afraid to do what is right.
Adi, a nickname used by a woman who has two jobs. She works for the TSA at the airport in Maine and she works a hotline as a counselor for people with PTSD. She sees two people who come from Qatar and only baggage is a briefcase each. She tells her boss, who tells her to ignore it. She also receives a call on the hotline from Noah, a bear shifter whose whole squadron was ambushed right in front of him. He was suffering from flashbacks and nightmares. Then he meets Adi (after talking with her on the hotline). Things get really hairy and everything breaks loose. I loved reading this story. It was amazing, fast paced and action filled. I highly recommend it! Thank you. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of the book.
Mayor Noah Novak , the sexy Mayor Novak has a big trauma from he's last mission in Afghanistan were all his squad for killed in a ambushed. He finds help in a Hotline crisis phone call when Adelaide answers his phone call , they immediately found a connection, but things are so easy for them. Adelaide is TSA security agent in the Bangor airport and she's following a two mans they it seem suspicious. No spoilers. Noah saves Adi and she helps him with his trauma. Very sexy and steamy Jade Alters you did it again I couldn't stop reading, I full in love of the characters I was crying whit Noah in his flashbacks as a soldier he had to endure so much pain and horror during war. It's hard no to think in our troops deployed in Afganistan.
Who is Adelaide? What time of the year is the story set in at the beginning? Where does she live and work? What does she do after her shift at work one night? Who is Noah? What do we learn about him? Just 20% of the way into the story and reading Noah's side of things made my heart clench, then I wanted to cry. Oh my, I knew there was a reason I did not like Mateo, Adi's boss. Read and see what happens and how she helps save the day!

Adelaide is a TSA agent and an after hours counselor! She spots 2 men leaving an international flight with suspicious activity and reports them to her supervisor, who tells her it is nothing. In the interim she starts couselling Noah, a shifter whose entire team was lost in a battle in Pakistan and is battling with PTSD. This leads to a relationship that is not allowed but also to other adventures. All in all an unusual read that worked and flowed well with some twists and turns that made the tale interesting!

I loved how Adelaide saw something that made her suspicious and didn't just let it go. I also loved that she "meets" Noah through her work as a phone counselor. I loved that both Noah and Adi had a quick connection even though they hadn't met. I felt for Noah because he definitely struggled with his PTSD and loved that Adi wanted to be there for him. I loved the way they meet in person the first time and thought their chemistry was really great. I loved this story from start to finish.

Noah, on leave from duty. Cant stop the flashbacks and who the mole was. His whole team is gone and still seeing his cousins lifeless face. Until he met Adelaide he never thought it would end. At first she was a crisis hotline answerer now she's so much more and she went above and beyond her TSA job. These two are meant for each other. A shifter book that was wonderful characters, page turning and action packed they will keep you reading it to the end.

I like the way the author handled PTSD. It felt like it was so real. It can be very scary. I had a friend who was in Nam and he had nightmares. It was bad when he came up off the couch were he had fallen asleep and started swing. But we always got him to wake up before something real bad happened. So very well done. Very good story also. I received a complimentary review copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
This was a good, fast read. Noah, a bear shifter, suffers from PTSD; Adelaide, having lost a brother while he was serving, struggles to find meaning through helping others. Alters digs into her characters nicely in this story. Lots of action, and a fast-paced plot as Adelaide and Noah end up investigating the same terrorists.

That was an amazing read. I highly recommend this book if your into shifters, humans and mates. Adi works as a TSA agent at an airport in Maine during the day and at night answers calls for a crisis line. Noah is in the army an lost his entire team. Oh did I also tell you he is a bear shifter. Read to find out what happens with Adi and Noah.

When Noah returns from combat, he has severe PTSD. When he finds the courage to contact a helpline, he is connected with Adelaide. Over the course of many calls, they connect on a level as friends instead of client/counselor. She also works for the TSA and is intrigued by two men she sees arrive without luggage. When she investigates, she puts her life in danger but luckily Noah is there to save her.

Noah is back from combat and dealing with PTSD. He calls a helpline and talks to Adelaide as they continue talking overtime, sparks begin to fly. Adelaide is also working for the TSA and puts herself in danger, will Noah be able to protect her? Fast-paced read with plenty of suspense, drama and steam. I liked it.
Cute, quick read. Adelaide is a TSA agent who sees a couple of guys who set off alarm bells for her. Noah is a bear shifter in the army who is back stateside after his squad was killed.
While Adelaide and Noah have the requisite insta attraction, how they meet and start building a relationship adds to the authenticity.
Of course bad guys are after Adi and Noah saves the day.
