So I had a big long review typed and my phone died. Now I am going to be lazy and type the highlights. I did like this book and the hero was ok. It was a bit of a letdown after the swoon worthy hero’s in the last two books. There is some serious misogynistic behavior by the male cousins that had me disappointed in the author. Being that she is the mother of a teenaged girl, I can’t understand her thought process on this. They seem to all think it’s ok for them to be out screwing anything that moves but their female cousins have to wait to basically find the man they will marry to have sex. WTH????!!!! So far two of them have. The next “hero” has definitely been around and the heroine has witnessed it, so I’m not thinking I’ll like their story too much. I was really looking forward to the one after that because of something really poignant the hero’s mother said to him in the last book. I remember thinking “this one will be awesome, she has raised him right”. Then we see him in this book and the girl who will obviously be his heroine is telling this books heroine about how she saw him naked when she caught him in a room with another girl.
He is still hooking up with other girls while he is into her too of course, because for some reason authors can’t get about a “Steele” away from that trope... So now my excitement for that book is taking a back seat. Anyway, I digress, so back to this story... There is an unnecessary scene where the H is screwing another woman, he is really into it and the dirty talk would have been great if it was with the heroine, not some 29 year old who likes to have sex with high schoolers. She walks in and hears it all: this is before they get together, but it’s later revealed he had had feelings for her long before then. It would have been better had the author not gone that route. Seriously people the “I’m in love with you, but still screwing other people” trope has been done to death and it wasn’t a good one to start with. It really caught me off guard after the sincerity of the last two heroes. I could have probably put it out of my mind if he hadn’t rubbed the same heroine in her face a couple more times. One was at a “fight”, where the woman full on kissed him and was basically all over him. He didn’t push her away but was later mad at the heroine for kissing someone else the same night. His inner monologue was basically that she should have understood that the woman kissed him. My thought is that since everyone seemed to know he was previously screwing the woman, it was beyond disrespectful to the heroine to be around her at all. She’s almost 30 and hanging out with high schoolers? Something is wrong with her anyway. I just had some trouble believing in him for a while. Overall it did get better and I enjoyed it. There were no other women and as far as I could tell, unless I missed something he didn’t screw her again. That’s something I guess. He did have some sweet moments, but unfortunately nothing that will make him memorable to me the way Brand and Taggs are. Long story short it’s worth the read, just don’t expect the same type of hero’s we got in the last two books. The nervousness for the next book is definitely here. Let’s wait and see which direction it goes...

Checklist:
Virgin heroine Somewhat slutty hero
Minor om/ow drama
No technical cheating
One gratuitous scene

I’m so in love with this series! I read The Steel brothers series and now this addictive series is about their children.

Truth Steel and her cousins attend a private and prestigious school. It has rich snobby kids, and they have a clique to them, a bad one.
Truth and her cousins are tight! They are a force to be reckoned with. But, of the handsome guys in the school, one has her attention.
Wow! This is another great story by MJ Fields, she keeps me anticipating her books 📚!
This book is beautiful, emotional, with secrets revealed and just an incredible storyline! Love the characters, the narrative and how this book ties in with someone’s past in a surprising way. Deep story, well written and great flow ❤️

I was sent an Arc of Laced Steel. I wont give spoilers away because too many people have been waiting for Laced. I will say Mj never fails to make you feel like you're in the story feeling the "TRUTHS" of the characters. Laced broke me, made me laugh, cry & fall in love all in a few hours time. Thank you Mj it was once again worth the anticipation❤️

I liked Truth better in this book then the small amount we had of her in the second book but I still struggled with her. Her character is uneven and teenage which is to be expected but it made it hard to see her as mature enough to find this type of "forever" love. I liked Tobias much more than Truth in this book and a lot more than Brand in the last book.

As with the other books in the series there are big plot holes and skipped over life events that really needed visibility to make this book more cohesive and to give us much needed character building time. This book also has a ton of implausible things going on with no supporting information to help figure out how they could have happened. The military issue for T's mom and all the explanations around that rang so false I had to really work to let that go. The whole father thing for T was also a big miss. I could go on and on with examples of WUT? moments, but my point is that none of this is well thought out to get to the results the author wanted. That is so lazy and it drives me crazy. Where are her early critical readers because they don't seem to exist for any of these books.

At least Cyrus is not as much of an asshole as Jace and I could relate to his thinking a lot better. Katy/Keke STILL has not had her baby, yet and she doesn't seem to be in school much with the rest of them.

Better than the first two but I'm still super uncomfortable with the level of "true love" these kids are finding. In some YA books, I'm okay with the age but in this one, they all just seem too immature to be able to make these declarations. Especially Truth as a 17 year old juniors in HS

So right off, full disclosure, I am not a huge fan of YA. Too much angst for me. So knowing that, the next important thing to know is that MJ got me so wrapped up in the story, I forgot most of the time how old many of the characters are. That is great story telling to me. I was vested in what was happening with Truth and wanted to know all of Tobias' history. I read this book straight through just to find out how everything resolved.

We get to see what the love of family means. Truth and her Crew are thick as thieves in everything they do. I love how close they are and how they always turn to each other. Tobias has not had that in his life. It was nice to see him looking in on something that could be so good.

This was a slow burn romance between young adults. But the reader will get the sense that these two were destined to be together. I love Cyrus in this one. Just perfect. We don't see as much of him and his brothers as we did in the previous two books, but there is lots of ground work laid out for the rest of the the next gen Crew. I can't wait to see them each get their HEA.

Loved this one!

Laced Steel book 3 in the Steel Crew series by M.J.Fields. This is Truth Steel's story. She is Cyrus and Tara Steel daughter - you can know her parents story in the original Men of Steel series.
Truth is sassy, sweet, loyal and dreams big dreams. Hers are of being a ballerina and because she grew up, body wise all over, her dreams of being a ballerina are shattered.
She's attending a new high school Seashore Academy and the kids there aren't kind. She and her family may have money but they never look down on people or judge anyone because of the money they make or the lack of it. This is what separates the kids. She ends up getting into it with 4 guys who run the school and that puts her into a collision course with one guy specifically named Tobias. He's mysterious, complex, intense, handsome and has secrets. Truth and Tobias have this instant chemistry between them. Their story is amazing and filled with raw magic, drama, passion, angst, heat , feels and this rollercoaster romance. For the past will tie into the present and this romance is simply a phenomenal read. Truth and Tobias have this great connection. I liked the plot, characters and writing style. I look forward to more of the Steel Crew.

Not your usual romance. This book was a whirlwind of push, push, push, never gonna happen. You see a bit of all the next generation and where their stories are heading. Truth's story, though, it was epic. E-P-I-C! This girl is a fighter and would not be stopped. You gonna mess with her? She was gonna mess with you right back, no holds barred. She had a lot--a LOT--of growing pains, but she kept her chin up and overcame. By the end, I was biting my nails, and now I can't wait to see where she and her loverboy are heading, especially him.

Truth never had to doubt the love and support of her family and friends, but she is finding high school quite the challenge. She has recently realized that the dreams she had for the future will not be realized so she is trying to find her new course when Tobias enters her life.

Tobias is part of the elite of school and appears to be living the dream, but things aren’t always as they seem. He is a man who doesn’t allow people close but there is something about Truth that draws him in even as he tries to distance himself.

Truth is feisty, fiery and she loves with her whole heart. She may be hurt by some of Tobias’s actions, but she is undeterred, and his reluctance is no match for her determination. Emotions, secrets and romance as this book delivers everything you want and more.

4.5 star Review Laced Steel (Steel Crew #3) by M.J.Fields

If you are a fan of the original Steel series then you will be as excited as I was to jump into Laced Steel and get to know more of the second generation of the Steel family. This is Truth’s story, who is Cyrus and Tara’s daughter and it was such an entertaining read that I was riveted from the first to the last chapter.

Truth was a character that you cannot help but fall for. There were times that I really felt for her as it was obvious that she was going through “growing pains” and the subsequent issues that that can bring up in, such as a lack of confidence and belief in oneself. Ms. Fields words drew me in and refused to let me go, so much so that I was up well into the night reading.

Tobias Eaton wants Truth but he knows that he has to keep away from her, a shame his heart is at war with his his head.

There were times that I cried, times that I laughed but throughout it all this was a story of family and above all else love. Truth knows what she wants and is determined to get where she needs to go, no matter what or who stands in her way and I admired that about her.

Will Truth and Tobias be able to see behind the walls they have built around themselves and learn to trust one another? A well written enemies to lovers story with some angst which I
encourage you to read, I don’t think you will be disappointed.

Finding out why Tobias was always pushing Truth away made cry so much. I remember reading Tara and Cyrus story and it was so fucking tragic what was happening to Tara but she got a happy ending with Cyrus. Learning how Tobias felt about Truth but push her away so he wouldn’t hurt her or her mother was so sweet and sad at the same part. I hate that Truth cared so much about what everyone else thought of her on that app like Steel crew says Fuck them! also loved when she gave no fucks. Every scene with Tobias and Truth was amazing but I wish there was more (Fuck giving Harrison room in this book). But it made for it with more Steel Crew moments. I love Brisa, Patrick and Justice who got more time in this book. I also love Kiki of course though she wasn’t in as much since she pregnant and didn’t go out much and the three younger ones are great too but didn’t get that much time in this book but the lines they did get were good. I love this family and seeing it grow. I am really looking forward to Justice’s book but also Brisa I’m wishing for age gap with manbun. That picture she photoshopped was hilarious. Waiting for September now. Forever Steel ❤️

This series of the second generation Steel family has quickly become a favorite! I love the fun, sexy, witty banter throughout but this book was more, it was emotional and it hurt my heart with the struggles Truth and Tobias faced. I laughed, I cried, I cheered for their HEA and in the end when ALL the TRUTHS are dropped it lays the foundation for a beautiful slow burn love story you can't put down!

Oh how I love the original Steel crew but this new generation is making me fall in love with them again!! And the new crew have something special about them, I no it’s blasphemy considering how I loved the original crew but I think I love this one better. Truth Steel lives of her name and is a loyal friend but she struggles and this is a story about her coming into her own. Tobias is the king of the school and he makes it challenging for her just trying to navigate the waters. I love the push and pull between them and I immensely enjoyed catching up with the overprotective Cyrus and his wife Tara. I can’t wait for the next installment of this series!!

recensione a cura del blog “Libri Magnetici" by Milly

Buona lettura.

This is an honest review for an ARC received.

If you’re a fan of the original Steel Brothers books, their kids give them a run for their money. These kids show that family is forever.

Truth Steel, daughter of Cyrus and Tara, twin sister to Justice and best friends with her “Steel Crew” cousins, knows what it is like to be loved and protected fiercely. But what happens when you loose your confidence and step back from your passion and dreams of dancing? What happens when you find yourself at a new school and falling for the one guy, who’s made it clear, he doesn’t want you…ever? You fight for what you want, and let nothing and no one stand in your way.

Tobias Easton, student body president appears to have everything. But looks can be deceiving . He is a man with many secrets, some dark ones and some that can bring down the “it” crowd at school. But his darkest secret is the reason he can never have Truth Steel. So he tries to push her away. After breaking a promise to Truth, he is on the receiving end of her hurt and anger. When unexpected allies show up to prove to him that love can conquer all, he laces up his gloves for the fight of his life. Tobias will do anything to win Truth’s heart.

How can you not root for a family that loves as fiercely as the Steel family. They show that no matter what happens in your life FAMILY is forever. #FOREVERSTEEL! This book has angst and is a slow burn enemies to lovers book. Truth and Tobias, will pull at your heart strings. This book was an amazing 4 1/2 stars. Can’t wait for Justice Steel.

Well this was a one and done for me! I really did not want to put this down!

I think so far out of the new generation Steels, Truth's might be my favorite one. I loved that it showed her struggling to fit in with the crowd because honestly I think in high school we have fall in the category of wanting to fit in at one point or another. I like that even though she is a bada$$ like all the Steels before her she didn't just go in knowing she had things locked down or with a to hell with everyone persona. She had insecurities and she dealt with them. And even with all of this she still managed to fight for what she wanted and didn't apologize for herself. She practiced the art of forgiveness which lets face it is hard for even adults to do, and she opened herself to finally being loved.

I will say I am glad that it wasn't really out right apparent, at least to me, who her love interest is. I mean you have an idea but then it's like wait it could be this guy. I don't want to name, names in case there are people out there like me who will end up surprised and pleasantly so.

All in all M.J. Has done it again. Given us an alpha with a heart of gold and with that a strong women/girl with personality traits we all secretly wish we had. I can't wait to see what happens next with the Steel Crew and how it's all going to effect the parents we love so much!! Forever Steel!! ❤

M.J. is my go-to author, but you all know this. But if you know anything about me, you know my favorite Steel is Cyrus. When the opportunity to read Truth's story presented itself, I knew I needed to get this book in my hot little hands. In true Steel fashion, this book was everything we have come to know and love from this family.

Truth is trying to find her place in this world and mostly at her new school. Truth isn't the most popular girl in school and I think that might be okay with her at times. But as things start to evolve, she gets the attention of the popular crowd. Not that she needs it. She has the Steel Crew. I love all these kids, but I feel a strong bond with Truth. She's just trying to get through school and figure out what's next for her. Tobias is what's next. There were times I didn't like Tobias, but I get why he is the way he is. He too is just trying to get by. I love the connection Truth and Tobias have. I love that while he would love nothing more than to write this girl off, he can't. These two are meant for so much more.

I love getting to see Cyrus as a dad. It's truly special and he has an amazing connection with his kids. But in all honesty, anytime I get to see the OG Steel men, I'm happy. I love how M.J. is setting us up for the rest of the kids. These are such special books. They truly make my heart happy. I can't wait for more!

Okay one of my favorite authors but I must say, WHY is this the Steel Crew series and yet so far all of the covers are of the guys that the girls fall for. Why aren't they the cover since its based on them?????
The guys in the family get the cover and yet the women don't. Is it a selling point or what?
That being said the synopsis left me wondering who Truth was falling for. You are lead to believe its her crush Harrison and yet that's not how it plays out. The one she does fall for treats her from the get go like a piece of crap and yet she goes back for more.
I was a bit disappointed when Truth was a ball buster in the previous story and yet when it became her story she let people talk about her and took it to heart and didn't stand up for herself or even fight for what she wanted. Where did the real Truth go? She finally got her back bone back but it took her a while.
Tobias was such a loner that you don't much about him. What you do find out doesn't make him a bad person and I don't get why he took on the role as the bad guy. He wanted so much to make sure he didn't turn out to be a bad person but he still kept throwing up things to push others away.
Overall a good fast read. Love all the times the originals are talked about. Revisiting with Jase and Cyrus is an added bonus.

I have read many books by this author, a lot of them in the Steel world, and I have enjoyed them all. Laced Steel is no exception. Though I did find Truth to be a little brash and full of herself sometimes, I did like that she had some soft edges - edges she tried so hard not to show - one of those being the way she treated people she truly cares about. She is loyal to a fault to them and will throw down for them in a heartbeat and it doesn't matter if they're people she's known all her life - like her family - or people she just met. If she cares about them, she fights for them. One person who really needs someone else fighting for him is Tobias Easton. Without giving too much away, he's kind of a loner and there's a reason for that, a reason that is kind of heartbreaking but that, ultimately, just cements him further in Truth's world. His journey from angry loner to accepted into the inner circle is at once frustrating and heartbreaking, frustrating because it's not easy getting a read on this guy, that's all I'll say about that. When they're apart, Truth and Tobias are both kind of floundering in their situations, but when they're together, things kind of make more sense. Like life. Another solid addition to the Steel family saga. Can't wait to read the next one!

Catching up with the second generation of Steel’s is always enjoyable and Laced Steel is Truth’s story and let me tell you if you are a fan of this family this is a must read and if you are new to the family you will also love Truth’s tale because it’s a story mist of us can relate to in our own life’s.
People are not always what they seem, friends can often deceive us and the people we often first think of as enemies can often turn out to be our best supporters.
Laced Steel has all the feels you want in a great read, I laughed, I cried and I fell in love with the Steel family all over again. Truth is a fighter and she knows what she needs to do and no one will get in her way but like most girls growing up she has issues and growing pains to get past and that means keeping her chin up and showing no fear......
This is a love story that kept me on the edge of my seat, it’s an emotional read that captivated from the first page to the last line and I loved everything about this story. Once again the very talented Ms Fields has given me a book I won’t forget in a hurry. Great read that I highly recommend.

I love this CREW so much and couldn't wait to jump into Laced Steel and see where Truth’s story took us, Truth is Cyrus and Tara’s daughter and twin to Justice. This books gives you all the feels, laughs we have come to expect from this younger generation but also feeds our love of the parent's as we watch them react to their kids growing up.

Truth and the crew have moved school, her confidence has been knocked making her question everything but she is pure Steel in every way, you push her and she will not only push you back but she will keep on pushing until you stop, but behind the exterior she shows the world she's a struggling young women with her own insecurities.

Tobias Eaton part of the IT crowd or one of the Four Horseman as Truth calls them knows how to push Truth's buttons but why does he do it that's the question. Tobias is not without his own secrets but holds secrets that could destroy a whole lot more than those around him can imagine.

Another fantastic read which will no doubt be read and read, time and time again. MJ please don't keep us waiting for the next book.

I love going back to the Steel Family!!

Truth Steel is not a push over. She has a backbone that was instilled into her from her whole family. However, will she be able to survive Seashore Academy and all the drama? Before the move Truth had all the confidence in the world to accomplish anything but with the move she is contemplating giving up on her passion and dream of dancing. Will she be able to get back into touch with the confidence she had to fulfill her dream?

Tobias Easton is the student body president and appears to have everything a high school senior could want. However, looks can be very deceiving. Tobias is the "head" of the "it" crowd and makes the rules. This however, is taking a turn because he only has three months until he gets to move on. What happens when Truth Steel shows up and things start changing? Will Tobias be able to handle this or will everything continue as it was?

When secrets come out will these two be able to handle all that is thrown at them? Will Cyrus approve of Truth and Tobias?

Again I love the Steel family and honestly anything M.J. Fields writes and can't wait to read Justice's book.

Oh Wow! MJ has done it again. I so love me some Steel!! This book does not disappoint in any way, shape form or fashion. I love the Steel Crew as much as the the original Men of Steel. I think I may love them more. Because in these books you get both!!! You get the originals and you get the next generation. I love seeing the next generation of Steels growing up. I love how they stick together and are there for each other. Truth is such a strong independent woman. She is so much like her mother but yet she is so much like her father. Tobias Easton oh wow!!! You love and hate him from go!!! You see and feel his struggle through this whole book. He has secrets and lots of them. You will love him and then hate him. But in the end, you will love him. This book has all the emotions, all the ups and downs that you expect it too. I love these Steel Stories. I always hate to see them come to an end but I so look forward to the next one that is ready to beginning. I am so ready for the one and cannot wait for it!!! This story was absolutely amazing! Great read.

Another outstanding incredible read by M J Fields. Cyrus is my all time favorite and now his daughter’s story is right up there with his. Love revisiting past characters and now their children. This story has it all and I love the twist. Didn’t see it coming but it explained so much. As with all of her books you will not be able to put this down, The Steel crew is such a close knit group. Justice and Truth are so close and always there for each other. Tobias fights what he feels for Truth with good reason but finally realizes that she is the girl for him but will she understand his reasoning for staying away and not giving into his feelings. Can he give her the life she deserves. Such an emotional story that no one writes better than MJ. This family is so close and always there for one another. I fell in love with Cyrus in his story and now that he is a dad you fall more in love with him. He might be overprotective but you wouldn't want it any other way. It what makes him so special. A truly phenomenal read you cannot put down

Took me back to my high school days...

Truth is pure Steel wrapped in teenage hormones and emotions. She's a badass and girl full of emotions. She's in love with a boy who pushes her away at every turn

A boy with secrets. He does what he has to make his way through life. The secrets he carries makes him push away the beautiful girl he has thought from the first moment he saw her. But his secrets plagues him and he tries to void her and his feelings until he graduates.

This book had me remembering my high school days with the Queen Bees and first love.
I absolutely connected with the hero in this story...
Breaking the cycle. He was a jerk at first but he had good reason. He needed to know that he wasn't his secret.

In my upmost honest opinion this book is my absolute favorite. Because I know how the young hero felt trying to be better than...(read it and find out)
Truth is a typical teenager emotional mess! But what girl wasn't! First loves are a mind f*k!

If you enjoyed the stories that brought you into the world of the Steel family than you are going to thoroughly enjoy this second generation of Steels in Laced Steel!
This is Truths story. She is the daughter of Cyrus and Tara and she is spunky, sassy and a don’t mess with me type of girl, but under all of that she has a big heart.
This book takes us on a journey of the challenges of growing up through those high school years. There are drama queens, bullies, the average kids and the popular kids that everyone wants to know and finding your place within all the chaos is the ultimate goal.
Tobias Easton has had a tough life but is trying to get through high school and have a better life. He is complicated and has more depth than anyone realizes, but he keeps those walls up pretty high. Can Truth break down his walls and set him free?
If you love an enemies to lovers story than you are definitely going to love this book!

I’m absolutely loving the next generation Steel, these ‘young adults’ are awesome!

Laced Steel is book #3 and is Truth’s story, though these books can be read as standalone stories, you get a much better take reading them as a series and they’re as awesome as the original Steel’s and I LOVE that we get a bit more of Cyrus and Tara, aka Birdie, amongst this!

Truth comes to her own in this book, she’s a softie deep down but she’s got some claws and a kick-ass attitude that puts the ‘haters’ right in their place.

Tobias Easton, one of the in-crowd has a few secrets of his own and fights his attraction to Truth because of it, a few twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat and on an emotional rollercoaster and the question is can they overcome everything thrown at them?!

You’ll just have to read it to find out and you won’t be disappointed that you did - well done MJ - another great ‘Steel’ read!

Laced Steel is Steel Crew book #3, and this is Truth Steel’s story. Truth is Cyrus and Tara’s daughter. And the truth is that Cyrus is my favourite Steel! High school is tough for Truth. The crews new school, Seashore Academy (or Suckshore as she calls it) is overrun with people who aren’t her kind of people. Her family might be wealthy, but they don’t judge people or act like they’re above anyone else, and that sets these guys apart from most of their school mates. And recently her body changed, she had a growth spurt that occurred only in the ass and boobs department. This caused her dream and passion of being a ballerina to be crushed. She’s a good girl and she’s starting to fit in, she’s getting more independent but she’s got an overprotective, overbearing dad and a bunch of uncles hovering in the background. She’s found a broody, mysterious, gorgeous boy. Someone with secrets. Someone who keeps pushing her away. Someone she can’t get close to no matter how hard she tries. It’s breaking her heart. It’s soul-scorching, full of tension and emotional. It’s full of secrets and truths.
