This volume contains a selection of edited opinions in 37 major Supreme Court cases in the racial area. In addition to providing the actual language of the Supreme Court's most important racial cases, the opinions are presented in chronological order to provide a sense of how the law developed. Page numbers of the official U.S. Reports are included in brackets to facilitate citation and to permit the reader to gauge the extent of editing.
