Presented in a handsome slipcase, Lennon Legend is both an illustrated and an interactive biography of the creative genius - songwriter, artist, social activist - who changed his times. Created with the cooperation of Yoko Ono Lennon, who has opened her archives for this project, the book offers insightful details about every era of John's life, from his early days at art school to the height of Beatlemania to "Imagine." A live recording of that song is included, along with several interviews of John talking about his life and art, on the audio CD contained in this package. Throughout, the book features archival photographs and reproductions of John's handwritten song lyrics, drawings, memorabilia, and personal papers. In all, 40 removable facsimiles can be enjoyed by the reader, several previously unpublished, including an intimate self-portrait in pen and ink and a plea for world peace. It's been said that John Lennon's was the voice of a generation. Lennon Legend celebrates that voice's power to resonate across the generations.
James Henke was a writer, music editor and eventually managing editor at Rolling Stone before becoming the first curator at the Rock and Roll of Fame, where he served for 19 years.

this book had minimal information to offer if you’ve already immersed yourself in the world of the beatles and john. however, if you are just getting into them this is definitely worth it! it gives you the chance to see what tickets looked like in the sixties and other fun things. my favorite though, was the newspaper a love letter from john and yoko. so beautiful are their words! and to see what it would have actually looked like was so cool! the original price being $40 is just absurd, that when i would say look elsewhere, for sometimes the writing from henke is bland. truly johns words are what make it so good.
What a terrifically fun experience this book is. It’s very smart in the way it includes reproductions of mementoes and documents. It feels very creative. As a huge Beatles/Lennon fan, I am stoked to have this in my collection.
It is so amazing! I absolutely love all the little removable pieces it comes with. The insight and archived imagery definitely makes this one of my favourite books!
