That Bona Fide Hood Love: Honesty and Prue
Growth is inevitable, Honesty Stride learns this after being in a dead-end same sex relationship with Yamena for ten years since the age of thirteen. After meeting Prudence Fischer, her cousin’s best friend and partner, Honesty finds herself fighting feelings that are foreign to her for someone of the opposite sex. When she decides to walk away from what she knows to experience the unknown, will she fall flat on her face or will the feelings be reciprocated?
Eugene Stride AKA Gino, has always had his cousins best interest to heart. Unable to steer her away from dating his once affiliate Yamena, finds himself distancing himself from his cousin but keeping his eyes on her from the background. When an opportunity arises to get rid of Yamena once and for all, he jumps on it with no questions asked. Realizing that his cousin’s loyalty puts him in an awkward position, but the street code won’t let him fall back on the situation, he introduces his cousin to a situation that will allow all to come out unscathed. Will this opportunity backfire or go smoothly as planned?

I enjoyed reading this book... It read at a nice fast steady pace... With lots of drama going on... Nany lies being told, secrets being kept, feelings being hurt and hearts being broken... This was one of those books that you know you are tired of the stupid decisions that people keep making and are over it... Yet because of the storyline you just can't put the book down because you want to know what happens next...
Honesty is a good girl with a good head on her shoulders... She just finds herself with no good people... I mean first she is with this woman Ya for 10 years and she kept putting up with a the drama that came with her... Only for her to end up with a man named Prue that was no better... In fact I think hee was worse than Ya... He was such an emotional person and always has his panties in a bunch... Just when Honesty finally does come across a man that really wants to treat her the way she deserves... Here come Prue once again to shake things up...
Ya was in a whole relationship with Honesty... Yet out in the streets acting single... Yet when it came to Honesty... She was so insecure with Honesty being around any man... Because she was afraid of Honesty being taken from her... To me I think it was her guilty conscience because she knows that she does not deserve Honesty... Especially with the way that she treats her... Then because she got herself into some mess and Honesty trying to make sure she has her back and supporting her... She ends up pushing Honesy right into a man's arms...
Prue is that man in the streets... He is out there living that single life... Well one day while parting with his best friend Gino... He meets the girl of his dreams... He just did not know it yet... He ends up setting up a deal with Honesty... And with this deal... Something begans to blossom... Then it just takes off from there...
From this point on we have a whirlwind of a relationship that takes us on some really highs and some really low"s... I mean there was times that I just wanted to knock Prue out... I could not understand how he can constantly say that he loves Honesty... Yet keep putting her in these situations... Then get mad and in his feelings when she is ready to really walk away... He wanted her to wait in the sideline for him while he was out here doing what he wanted to do... Boy bye...
Now with everything coming out , secrets being revealed and everyone getting caught off guard... What are they going g to do... Is this gonna be the end for Honesty and Prue... I hope so... because he does not deserve her... Now on to part 2...

Pure and Honesty as a couple didn't work for me. Individually? yes. As friends yes? As a couple? No. I think the author did a good job of providing a tale of dysfunctional love or relationships. I'm hoping this was the goal as the story was short on love or romance at least when it came from Honesty & Prue as a couple. Example -Prue's reason for dismissing Honesty for three weeks and replacing her was flimsy and didn't quite come across as a good enough reason to handle things the way he did. Unless he, of course, was a teen and immature in the ways of communication, which he clearly was.
Not much time was spent in this first book building their relationship as a couple. In each scene, it felt forced. The whole relationship didn't quite gel. Gio and Kris were a cute couple and I found myself wanting to know about them and Chico. I would have loved to have seen this story told from Clint's perspective. It would have or could have been interesting.
The subplot of the story was what was interesting and kept me interested. I think the author has a good story here just the focus was on the wrong duo. That being said, I will be reading book two.

Come on Prue!!!!
This was my first read from A.L.Tate and I must say I will definitely check out the rest of her catalog. This story was fast pace and didn't lose momentum. I swear I hope Prue gets his stuff together because he keeps making the same mistakes. Tina is definitely an issue but Prue made it that way. Let's see how the arrest goes because I'm sure the next installment will be even better. (Sorry for the spoilers)

Honesty Honesty Honesty 🤦🏾♀️ I commend her because I just couldn’t see myself being so dumb. And then Prue what kind of BS is he on. I low key want to see her end up with Clint. Depite his career he so far has been the only one to really show her real love. Tina needs to go I do not like her. With all that’s going on I can already tell part 2 is going to bring even more drama and I can’t wait for it.

No fun When the rabbits got the gun I cannot believe Prue you keep making the same mistakes so stupid count don't get me wrong I love Anna and she definitely gave him back when he's looking for I don't believe he can take when she was busy now I just come full circle so I can't wait to see what happens next well I'm starting to love these characters part one would definitely fire out freaking standing

Damn Prue done messed up now why would you like to honesty she was nothing but good to him. I don’t like that Tina chick she is no good as well. And poor honesty once she find out that Clint isn’t who he said he was i can’t wait to see how that unfolds. Can’t wait for part 2

I had such hope for Prue smh. And he really disappointed me bad. That being said so did Honesty she and free either. A lot of stuff could have been avoided if she would have listened and used her brain. I’ve got to know how this all plays out

I want to say Prue was bae but I can't. I mean in the beginning he most definitely was. As the book progressed I wanted to kick his behind. Honesty tore my nerves up too. The storyline was really good and it held my interest.

Pretty good
This book was good but, it didn't live up to the bona fide hood love expectations. Pure and Honesty spent more time fighting then they did loving on each other. It's still a good book it should just be called something else.
