When you're a mom with kids on the spectrum, you need a support network. But the right one can be impossible to find. For example, why isn't there any wine?
So, what is a mom with kids on the spectrum supposed to do? Create your own autism mom's group, of course. Meet Taryn, Mia, Liz, and Corina, four moms who bond over their autistic kids while drinking Moscato.
So, what do you get when you have four sleep-deprived moms, six kids on the spectrum, and a misbehaving therapy dog? Lots of meltdowns, breakthroughs, more wine, and enough chaos to make each day a new adventure.
It could be from lack of sleep or decoding riddles and screams all day, but autism parents have an adventurous life and their own language. Meltdowns and Moscato shares a glimpse into the lives of families with kids on the spectrum and all the craziness and love that comes with it.
I really enjoyed this story! It was fun and truly opened my eyes to what an autism parent goes through in a day to day life. Well done Jaci on another great story. Cheers!
A book for all moms of special kids - You are not alone.
‘Meltdowns and Moscato’ is a must-read for all moms of kids with special needs. Having said that, I highly recommend ALL adults read this book. It is a sad fact that you cannot know what it means to have a child with autism (or other disability) until you have one- the grief, the happiness, the judgement and the solitude, but if you read this book, you might just get a glimpse into it.
Aside from all the learning, it is an ENTERTAINING read. The families featured get into all sorts of difficulties, accidents, misunderstandings and some real-life tear-jerking moments. As a mom with a kid on the autism spectrum I was identifying with so much, as one who has had a good experience of support groups, I will add that you need to find your tribe(s), in whatever form they come in.
There is also a bit of romance- we all need a Hudson in our lives!
Each of the chapters has a fun heading and is a bite-size piece, so a busy mom can easily pick this book up and put it down without having to stop mid-chapter.
This story is real. And OMG funny as hell. Parenting is hard. Parenting kids on the spectrum? Yeah, HARD. This story follows four moms giving it all to their their kids to make a healthy, loving, and safe world full of wild animals, husbands trying their hardest to understand, new loves, and crazy adventures.
I fell in love with all the moms and their kids. This is the most positive, funny, and real book I’ve read in a long time.
Meltdowns and Moscato is a must read for everyone but especially for mamas with autistic children and autistic teachers. This book will make you laugh, cry and will touch your heart in so many ways. Most importantly, this book will leave you with such a sense of compassion and understanding. This is such a wonderful story and I guarantee you will love it too!💜
I absolutely love Jaci and her writing! Every word of this book is heartfelt, born out of experience, love.. and of course.. wine! This truly is a book that will change your life. If you want a book that will touch your heart, and change your outlook for the better; this is it!! I’d give it more stars if i could! ~Dowie
An eyeopening look into their world Every Mom has her tough day.
But what we see in Meltdowns, is the story of 4 Moms, who all are brought together by 1 thing.
Their Kids, Kids who are on the Spectrum.
But how do these Mom's make it through the knock you down, break your heart and spirit kind of days. When they just can't seem to make it? They lean on each other, so they can be the Super Mom's to their kids. They make a support group of their own.
For me, a Mom who doesn't have Child on the Spectrum. It was an eyeopening, insightful look into the daily life, struggles and triumphs of what a Mom/Family lives with everyday. How you never know what the next minute, hour or day will bring you. Or what will be the next hurdle they need to overcome. And it also makes you look at yourself, and that Mom in the store who's child is having a Meltdown with compassion instead of snarky comment.
It's truly amazing to see what these Women & Family's overcome each and everyday with Love, Devotion & Wine!
I truly hope you enjoy and learn a little something from this book. Meltdown's happen, but Mosacto can help make the day better!
Every mom struggles with their children, being a mom, and with life in general. Every mom needs to find their tribe of people to help them get down in the trenches with them. The author did an amazing job of pulling the reader into these trenches with the mom's and making you feel like you are not alone. Isn't that the point? To not feel alone in the hardships that life has to offer. To find people to understand and not judge the choices we have to make. Whether you are a mom of a child on the spectrum or not you will enjoy this story and not feel alone as you are taken on the journey of four women's lives and the struggles they go through. All with a side dish of humor that we all desperately need and cling to. I love how she brings real life in and teaches us to understand and love more deeply.
This was such a heartwarming and informative read. I fell instantly in love with each of these women and the amount of strength each of them possessed. Everyone needs someone to vent too that understands and encourages them when times get hard and that is what these women do for each other. Each of them have at least one child on the spectrum and let me tell you what, they keep you on your toes. I couldn’t help but laugh out loud at some of the antics Jessie pulled. There are some hard times in this story and that is where the others shine with their advice, a shoulder to cry on, a laugh and of course, a bottle of moscato.
4 Amazing Families A look into real life differences. This story helps you to understand how others deal with children on the spectrum. I love this story and how it is presented. You really get to know the families and their daily lives and yes struggles. I have especially enjoyed the tips learned here and I praise these parents for all their hard work. Since I am not personally involved in that area of life it took me a second to get into the book. Once I did I was really enjoying the story because it is an eye opener of facts put out into a fictional story. Well done! The narration was good as well. I highly recommend this book. This book was absolutely fantastic! Having the opportunity to read about about moms like myself with kids on the spectrum was awesome! I laughed, cried, and rejoiced with the moms in this book and immediately felt like I was apart of the most AUSOME mom group. I felt understood and like I belonged. I highly highly recommend this book, Jaci does an amazing job taking you out of your stress space and transporting you in to a place where your comforted, relieved and laughing until the point of tears! I can’t sing the praises of this book enough; cheers to Meltdowns and Moscatos!!
Meltdowns and Moscato was such a real, fun read about living with children with autism. As a parent of 2 kids on the spectrum I could relate to a lot of the incidents and it was nice to feel like I wasn't alone. I was in that support group with Taryn, Liz, Tash and Corine, cheering them and their kids on! It showed how kids on the spectrum are all different, but challenging. And throw in work, health and relationship issues, and life is tough! This book is well worth it for all audiences - if you have a child with autism, work with a child with autism or know someone with autism you will relate. If you don't, it will be truly eye opening.
This is a good book for everyone that has children whether they are on the spectrum or not. Each of the characters have their own unique challenges and victories just like everyone else. I really enjoyed how Hudson showed what a sensory overload feels like and described how it relates to the kids. I throughly enjoyed the book and everyone in it. Here’s to seeing the World through another’s eyes.

Loved this book! Mothers/families dealing with autistic children are VERY special people! This book illustrates the trials and tribulations, but also the love, joy, and beauty of day to day living. I laughed, I cried, I loved.
I was entertained while I learned about what can happen in households with autistic children. How some kids were handled in certain situations and also how relationships happened with spouses and teachers. Friends helping friends.
Can’t say enough about this book! It’s hilarious and real and will have you laughing and crying at the same time! A great read for anyone! A powerful read for those with kiddos with special needs!
It was like reading about my own life on these pages!! I was hooked from the first page and I finished it in just a few hours. I could see a little if me in each character and a bit of my kids in each kid. Especially Jessie!! That could have been my daughter.
