this is purely so fucking unhinged and psychotic, no wonder why the ratings are bad! 😭 I was confused for the first 50% because I had no idea what type of incestuous shit was going on.

⌞ Sid Rain, Lucifer Malikov and Jeremiah Rain ⌝
20-22-23

• from what I gathered, Sid wanted to commit suicide, and she was pretty excited until Lucifer found her and took her to a party. turns out it was the UNSAINTS' party, and they're into wild, kinky shit, like a cult or smth. so Sid, actually having some brain cells, decided to leave them, and Lucifer let her go!

• only for her to nearly get molested by Jeremiah (the sixth unsaint member). then Lucifer came back to save her, and they had some nice time together, I guess? then she blacked out. the story is fully in the present and past—a year ago.

all these ^ things took some time to unravel but kept me on edge, considering Jeremiah is no longer a member of Unsaints as he betrayed them. instead, he is the leader of ORDER OF THE RAIN and Sid Rain's brother, and he's awfully hot and cold with her.

“Jeremiah Rain is a thug of the richest kind. Leader and priest of Order of Rain. He’s cruel. Vile. Vicious."

his behavior was so fucking weird, reminds me of Damon Torrance & Banks' relationship, and Jeremiah wanted to own Sid! his love for her is twisted, and I'm not even sure what his psychotic plan was! he's fucked up. Sid calling Lucifer more unhinged was comical because (he is kinda cute tho, I thought he was an asshole, but nah, he's a cutie), BUT JEREMIAH IS A PSYCHO FFS! 😭

“I love you, Sid. I’ve always loved you. And I missed you every day we were apart.” His hands squeeze my thighs, gently. “I want us to be different”

I truly don't want to romanticize Jeremiah, and I doubt I'll like this series too. Jeremiah nearly raped Sid after tying up all the other boys as revenge before he realized that she's his sister—the one he had been searching for a long time after they got separated by the social services. I don't even care about his cruel backstory and what happened to him.

maybe I do?
no you don't, stfu.

but his pov in the epilogue...

Triggers: attempt of rape, sex without protection, mentions of killing a kid, Sid having sex w Maverick.

Just get through the first one so you can read the second book. This one was just super confusing and conflicting. The main character kept saying she was this super bad a$$ but... never showed that she kept getting beat up by literally everyone. I'm not sure why I continued with the series but the second book definitely makes up for this first installment.

Dark MF - Unsaints!

I am still absolutely enthralled with this series and these characters. Since book four is due out later this month, I felt like rereading the first three books.

There's spoilers below, so stop here if you don't want to see them... I gotta make sure I have notes to refer back to when starting the next book. ;)

I know Jeremiah has been awful to Sid. He is obsessed with her and loves/hates Sid to such a degree that everything he does is completely unpredictable. He did give her that Rhia tip though, which doesn't make up for anything, but offers her a chance at some answers. I want to hate him... but l don't.

I know Lucifer basically threatened/warned her with/about the power he wields as an Unsaint. "Sid, we can't let you leave." And, "You have no idea how much more the Unsaints can hurt you." Well, now... he does say this after trying to convince Sid to stay with him or at least let him go with her. Hmm. I love Lucifer.

Mayhem tells her how Luce talkes about her daily for a whole year. He tells her about Jeremiah and how he got into the Unsaints, about Luce's childhood and abuse, about the power of the Society of Six. He said Jeremiah "wrecked both of your worlds," meaning Sid and Luce. Mayhem tells Sid that both she and Jeremiah are liabilities because of what they know and warns her they will always know where she is. Warning or not, good to know.

So, yeah. A lot happens.

First time reading review:

I am so addicted to this series. It's so damn good.

While reading this, I kept having this weird sense of being off kilter. I realize that is probably the authors intention, as its telling the story using past and present for these characters. It worked out well.

Now the characters, or the main characters, are Sid, Lucifer, and Jeremiah. They are all broken and have so much trauma that they created their own little brotherhood called Unsaints for Lucifer, and Order of Rain for Jeremiah group.

Now there's no real paranormal stuff going on in this book but there are some dark anti religious cult like rituals done with cutting and blood.

There's triggers here, every thing from almost rape to suicide and pretty much everything else you can think of.

Sid sorta gets caught in the middle of these two groups and it's not pretty.

Gotta say this was a really interesting story and I will read the next one tomorrow.

This book has thrown me through a big fat loop. I am all over the place.
It’s super dark and so good. Rose has done it again.

I am trying to figure out who is the bad guy., Lucifer or Jeremiah or both. I think Lucifer had deep feelings for Sid, but he won’t betray the unsaints I wondering of Jeremiah's true feelings for Sid.

Now I have to read book two. Wait and see what happens next. If you like Dark Suspense romance , I highly recommend this book.

This is a weird book. It's dark romantic suspense and at some points, just general filth? I probably shouldn't say that, and I don't even mean it sexually, but...yeah...anyway.

I am so glad that's over.

I don't know if it's me but I think I am nearing the end of my love affair with dark romance.

(This entire review may be one big spoiler so read with caution)

This story made no sense.

"I don’t bother to bring a gun. I have a blade in my back pocket instead. Guns are for quick deaths. Knives are for pain. And I need Jeremiah to feel an ounce of the pain I feel at what he’s done to us."

Let's begin with the h. She annoyed the living heck out of me. The number of times she threatened to kill someone and carried a gun or knife with intent to use was laughable. Girrrllll. Sit down. You aren't actually going to use that thing. You never did. Why the constant threat of murder on every other page by the h? Heck. Why did every male character puff up their chests and threaten murder every interaction? Was it necessary? I think it was overkill and weakened the plot because honestly - the plot felt like it was being held together by a thread. I was sorta still interested in the story until the Julie bit then I checked out. What the actual f*uck? That came out of nowhere and was such a messy idea -- just made no sense except to add shock value. All the revenge and vengeance made no sense either -- the fires and meet ups in order to 'kill' became old because it was all talk and telling and shouting but no show or action.

The H and his buddies are wannabe four horsemen from the Devil's Night series. Dressing up on Halloween and performing "rituals" and role play that were not fleshed out enough for me to care. Was I supposed to be scared? I thought this is a dark/psychological/twisted book. Why was I bored 95% of the time?

I thought this was going to be a dark romance about a girl who sold her soul to the devil. Turns out it's just another edgy new adult novel about boys who created a stupid club so they could have an excuse to wear masks on Halloween and pretend to be bad.

E, a conti fatti, aveva perso tutto.

Trigger Warning: language, violence, sexual scenes

“Lucifer might have ruled hell, but Lilith made it burn. And tonight he’s going to find out, just what that means.”

This book has to be one of the wildest and craziest books I’ve ever read! There is so many triggers so please be aware before going into this. I read this in two sittings, it was so addicting. I immediately picked up book two upon finishing.

4/29/22 - Re-read 5 FREAKING STARS -even better the second time around

UM WOW I freaking loved this book. It was exactly what I wanted/needed!

This book was ~dark~ but I ate it upppp from the very beginning!

Our main female character was such a bad a$$ and I loved that! She just didn’t really care about consequences and always went after what she wanted/thought was right.

This story follows a girl named Sid “Lilith” who is a girl who had experienced a lot of hard things in her life. On the night she plans to commit suicide, she meets Lucifer. Flash forward a year later and she desperately hates him. We flash back between the past and present (where she is staying with her brother) to find out what happened a year ago.

The plot in this book was amazing! I loved the war/politics between the unstaints and the order of rain! I do wish we got a bit more depth on both of those plot lines though.

The reason I gave it 4.5 and not quite 5 is just because I wish that it had maybe been a bit longer so that it could have gone more in depth! I wanted to spend more time with Lucifer and Sid and explore the characters a bit more as well as the “war” going on between the unsaints and the order of rain. I have so many questions and a lot do things were left unanswered. I have heard/read that things are more explained and flushed out in the second book so I’m holding out hope for that but I loved every minute of this.

So entertaining. So amazing. I can’t wait to see the direction of the second book and the rest of the series.

I’m jumping for joy over this book wow 😍

These Monstrous Ties is the first book in the hefty Unsainted series by K.V. Rose. This is my first experience reading this author's work — I went in with zero expectations or information beyond knowing this would be a dark read.

Potential triggers: suicide and suicidal ideation, sexual abuse, child abuse, emotional abuse, violence, cults.

I was in the mood for a dark dark romance.. and this definitely scratched the dark itch, though there was not as much romance as I would have liked. To be quite honest, I was expecting a clearer "sold my soul to the devil" premise instead of this convoluted story about a cult formed by entitled 20-somethings... But hey, it was weird enough to hold my interest.

"Lucifer. His mouth. His tongue. The knife. His voice. His secret.
   The Unsaints.
   The pregnant girl.
   Ria.
   The fire.
   The rum.
   The asylum.
   The Death Oath.
   Oh God."

Intrigued? Confused? Exactly.

The writing is definitely unique. Rose has a distinct writer's voice and I can appreciate that. It's obscure and tortuous and reads a bit like a novel-length riddle to me. But it's also dark and provocative. This story is told only from the perspective of Sid Rain, our female protagonist, and it makes for a very confusing journey because she is anything but reliable. Sid is disillusioned, naive, and also has very minimal knowledge about the Unsaints.

Sid hasn't had an easy life, and we first meet her when she is at her emotional rock bottom. On a mission to end her life, her plans are interrupted by a beautiful, charming man named Lucifer, and she is swept up into a strange Halloween party that turns out to be much more than meets the eye... What follows is a traumatic event that leaves Sid scarred, confused, and angry.

While I could empathize with Sid to a point, I found her behaviour to be quite contradictory. She consistently talks a big talk about how violent she is going to be, only to fold when it comes time to walk the walk. Seriously, the amount of times she voices intent to cause harm becomes laughable, because it's clear she won't. She also makes many questionable choices that left me feeling like I wanted to slap her right out of this book.

I actually wondered many times why she didn't run away from this stupid city, these men that do nothing but strangle her, or even follow through with her original plan from Halloween night. I just didn't understand her perceived barriers or what was so appealing about her surroundings that kept her in place. And look, I don't have to like the characters to like a book, but I do prefer to understand them. I don't even think Sid understands Sid. Maybe that's the point?

“Buckle up, Lilith. This is hell. That’s where fire is born.”

Personally, I had a hard time taking the Unsaints seriously. I think I was supposed to believe they are a fearsome and powerful group but all I could see were a bunch of entitled, hot-headed pricks that are, as Lucifer puts it, "into some weird shit". This is a long series so maybe I will change my opinion of them through the next books? We can only hope.

I will say the plot got better and more interesting as I read it, though I can't say I really loved any of the characters. Jeremiah's story is the most interesting to me; there were moments when I wanted to hate him, moments I pitied him, and also moments I could empathize with him. I would be interested to see how his character develops and how his relationship with Sid evolves in the books to come.

Okay this book left me more confused than anything. I'll start off with what worked for me. So, I actually liked Sid. I liked that she was unstable and therefore easily manipulated. Which sounds terrible but for the sake of this book it makes sense to have a heroine who isn't so clear minded and takes every thing to heart. I can see why people would hate this heroine but it's nice to see a character who is struggling to have a sense of agency, especially given her past. I'm only hoping we get to see growth in Sid's character along the series.

As for why I didn't give this more than a 3 star rating is that the writing and overall plot was off. I'm all for books where a character is trying to remember the events of a night but this one let them down. I was hoping to be shocked or feel something but I never got that "oh my god" moment. I was often times confused if this book was supposed to be more plot or character driven? I was hoping it would have had a nice balance of both. Don't get me wrong I was still intrigued to find out what happened that night but when it came to the reveal it felt very anti-climatic. I'm still planning on continuing the series so I hope it gets better!

Also, I'm totally picturing Sid as Tokyo from Casa De Papel:

Excuse me, what on this green earth just happened?
Buckle up, y’all, this is WILD!
First of all. Jeremiah. Idk whether I love or hate him or love to hate him. Seriously. My favorite character, and after you read this, you’ll understand how messed up that might make me, and I don’t care. 🤷🏻‍♀️
Secondly, Lucifer, good sir, I’m baffled by you entirely. You and your Unsaints. What are y’all doing?
And then, our Lilith. I like a fierce leading woman, and was NOT disappointed. And no, your opinion doesn’t matter. Keep it moving.
The twists and turns and reveals and what the heck moments(pg for y’all). I was on my toes the whole time, holding my breath, hoping for the best and knowing I wasn’t gonna get it, and still was too invested to stop.
You like your books with a whole lot of WTH? Grab this. Not a single let down in between these covers.

"Hate me, love me, fuck me, run from me. I don’t care. You’re stuck with me.”

I LOVED THIS WHOLE SERIES! So, I was wary in the start of this book because it seemed like the devil's night series plot ( and that was not my cup of tea). I mean, rick asshole 20-something yr olds , check. The town fearing them, check. Ritualistic parties like devil's night ( lover's death here), check.
But!! This was so different and amazing that I am laughing at my inner wary self now.

This story takes you on a dark, dangerous and emotional roller coaster ride! I was so engrossed in each moment, character and scene. The chemistry between Lilith and Lucifer was literally felt by me. And I hated J. ( Yes, I know I am a J preacher now but our love story started with hate lol 😂😛). I wanted to savour every word but I also wanted to go through the story as fast as I can to know everything. I can't ever get enough of this series and this is definitely going into my reread pile.

Another thing I want to mention here is the writing style. KV' s writing style is so beautiful. Hauntingly beautiful. There is such intensity in her words that you can't help but let those heart palpitations and thought-provoking quotes wreck you. Also, she first lulls you into a state of security ( as much security as there is when you can feel your heart racing with each scene) and then suddenly you are scrambling out of your seat to know what is happening when the twist comes.
I am not writing much about the plot here as in my usual review style because I felt this book too much and can't explain it without giving it away.

I RECOMMEND THIS A 1000% 🖤🖤

Dark and twisty.

“Lucifer might have ruled hell, but Lilith made it burn. And tonight, he’s going to find out just what that means.”

A dark and twisted NA story with a heroine out for revenge because of something she endured on Halloween night.

Should she believe her brother and follow his group Order of the Rain?
“Jeremiah Rain is a thug of the richest kind. Leader and priest of Order of Rain. He’s cruel. Vile. Vicious.”

And should she trust his reasons for going against the brotherhood of the Unsaints?
“This is Lucifer. This is the Unsaints. This is Cain and Atlas and Ezra and Mayhem. This is the blood brothers from hell.”

Suspense, thrills, danger and many secrets.

Looking forward to the next book by this new to me author.

Okaaaay! So I’ve eyeing this series for a while. It sounded exactly like my cup of tea, but I kept putting them off because I hate waiting between books!

Well, I’m happy I waited but also not.. because holy crap.. I totally consumed this book! I was craving something different and this really hit the spot!

It’s the perfect spread of suspense, blood, sex, secrets, and pain. The character building was fantastic. Even though Sid and Lucifer don’t actually know each other well, it doesn’t feel forced. It feels natural and real— and I love it! I feel for Sid and Jeremiah’s relationship and I’m really excited to see where that aspect of the book leads. I’m so excited to continue this series!

If you love dark romance, with mysterious broody boys then you should Pick. This. Up.

“You were my flinch,” I tell him, and I mean it. “When you slipped your hand in mine…” I smile, raking a hand through my short hair. “You were my flinch.”

Can someone explain to me why I picked such an enticing first novel in a series for a readathon? I sat in my chair in complete awe after reading this novel and can’t believe I left myself with such huge cliffhanger. This novel is dark, suspenseful, and honestly, strange. It’s a good strange for me though, I am intrigued into what could possibly happen next with this series. There is so many mixed feelings about this book, but I genuinely enjoyed the pace and writing from KV.
————————————————————————-
The characters in this novel are so different. They are a mixture of terrorizing, appalling, and so captivating. The main characters are Sid and Lucifer; who I liked, but there is also so many other side characters that play a large part of the novel. Sid has been dealt some nasty cards in her life, but I feel its about to get ten times worse moving forward. However, for Lucifer, he is still an enchanting mystery I want to get to know. I have so many questions about what could possibly happen in the next books. However, I really enjoyed getting to know these characters in this short period of time.
————————————————————————-
Get ready for a wild ride because this one is going directly to hell!😉

I would give this novel 4-angelic-stars!

I really enjoyed this book and read it in one sitting, which meant I was up until 4am but🤷🏼‍♀️
After reading a few other reviews I realised things that I hadn’t before. Like Sid is not a badass at all and pretends/tries to be. But that didn’t bother me much tbh because I think it makes sense for her character. She’s been through a lot and is trying to be tough but when she gets in certain situations there isn’t much hope. It was a little insta-lovey for me, although not in the usual sense, which is why I still enjoyed it. More like insta-infatuation. H and h met a year ago for one night and are this obsessed with each other? But I mean, it’s definitely not love yet so I can get behind it.
I initially thought that Lucifer was the lesser of two evils, still dangerously toxic but not actually dangerous but I was left very curious after the ending. Like “oh shit, maybe he’s actually worse than Jeremiah.” I do hope there’s more darkness in the second because, although I got sucked in and really enjoyed it, I realised that most of the threats were just talk and not actually actioned.
Overall this series has piqued my interest and gotten me out of a slump and I can’t wait to read the other books in this series.

I am obsessed with this book. It's dark and angsty and the chemistry y'all. It's perfect, but it's so confusing. There is so much happening and then Lucifer... I don't know what to think about him, but I love him. And Jeremiah. I should hate him. But I don't. I can't.

Received Book from BookSprout for Honest Review
I Give this Book a 3.5 out of 5 Star Rating, Listing as 3.

HEA(?): Yes, But it felt Rushed and Not entirely believable.
Romance: 1.5/5 (when you break it down there isn’t much to go on)
Heat: 2.5/5 (vaguely descriptive & fast)
Drama: 3.5/5
Suspense: 3.5/5
Dark(?): Maybe to Some this is DARK, but it’s Dark Lite to me.
The beginning I was hooked, but then the longer I read Sid wasn’t as bright as I thought she would be, and not really a bad-arse either.
Lucifer: his time in the book overall was very small and to me weirdly seemed unimportant, when you finished reading and look back.
I was honestly expecting him to be a bad-arse too, but in all seriousness he kinda isn’t and he’s very dramatic (and I believe that’s due to the author’s writing).
I feel like this was a gender swap book, where Sid is female but acts manly, where Lucifer is male but strangely acts feminine.
I’m Not a Fan of how the end was on fast forwards, and was jammed all together at the same time.
The plot seemed to be to big to write and the end result was pieced together, also no real sense of time flow either.
Also the side characters were focused on more, way too much Jeremiah and some obvious fillers, a lot of description has been left out in some areas too, and much of the stuff was repeated way too much.
There just wasn’t enough Sid & Lucifer till nearly at the 93%, because at that point I was wondering (freaking out I might add), at how in the heck is a HEA going to happen? Will Sid Die? Will there be a book 2 for them? Is this a Duet?
I’m also not a fan of another character telling another characters story, there was no need for that. Sid could’ve taken the time to actually get to know Lucifer, so to me the HEA just seemed very forced.
I will list this as a Stamped HEA, and I Will Not List this in my Dark categories.

My suggestion? Rewrite the Book & Make it Better.

Would I read more from this Author? Maybe

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

A LITTLE SPOILER. But a needed spoiler.

Okay, i just posted a readers update. But this is it for me. I cant go further.

Lillith/Sid is so fucking badass, well she talks how badass she is, that she is a monster. But she isnt. She doenst do anything then be a sad little bitch and only talks about killing herself. Like everytime. I am soo done.

And why are lillith/sid and lucifer sooo obsessed with eachother after one night. One night she cant even remember the half of it. The connection isnt there, and never will be.

And that part with her brother, thats fucked up. I will never remotely be okay with incest. THAT SHOULD BE A TRIGGER WARNING. To be honest they never did the deed in this book.. but the reviews of the next few books dont promise anything good. So.. Just dont do this thing.

That being said, Jamie/jeremaiah (or whatever) is the only person who makes sense at this point, and that is saying something because he tried to RAPE his own sister. But a least he is trying to get her to defent herself, for over a year he tried to make her stronger. And even that she couldnt do.

Words cant say how much i noped the fuck out of this book.

A little out this book:

Page 264 "No matter that Julie’s child isn’t his. That isn’t the deal breaker. It never had been."

Well that isnt treu is it Sid, because you fucking hated that he might have a child, after the first night you hated Julie. What goes through this writers head when she writes about hating on other woman just because she had fucked a boy in high school. Sid and lucifer knew eachother less than 1 hour. Grow the fuck up.

Page 266; "I protest. I complain. I bitch. I moan."

Well you dont say. All you do is bitch and complain.

I am sorry about this rant. But i just cant believe how fucking stupid the HEA is. Write a stronger female, or dont, but dont say she is bad ass.

And dont let siblings try to rape eachother. I Have siblings i dont want to read that shit.

I have to say. This author does dark, dirty and delicious SO WELL. SHE FEEDS MY DARK NEEDS! My glass is overflowing with her darkness all the time! Where did KV Rose come from?!?! I have had these books on my tbr for the longest time and now that I am finished with book 1, I feel like I wont be settled until I read the others! That cliffhanger has me on edge. I just need to know what happens!
I have never loved characters more. I thought I loved Ecstasy but those characters have nothing on Sid, Lucifer and Jeremiah. Sid was so strong! I love heroines like her. I was pulled every which way with this book. There were triggers GALORE. THOSE ARE MY FAVORITE TYPES OF READS! AND! AND! I looovveee culty types and this had it all!!!!! 5 star book for a 5 star author..I neeeeed more Lucifer in my life.

This one had me on the edge of my seat but at the same time thinking...What the heck did I just read?! It becomes addictive & ends on a cliffhanger. I received a free copy of the book. This review was posted voluntarily.

This book was a 5-star book for me up till 70%. It had everything I want from a book – fast pacing, intriguing and ambivalent characters, interesting and mysterious plot and action. I really didn’t know where the story was going and was finding myself constantly on the edge. I couldn’t put down the book. And the romance part was so promising! Then, there was a shift and the story was still good, but the author didn’t achieve to get the full potential out of the story (especially the romance part). The build-up was so, so good and then she the author denied us readers the moments with the two main characters, the dialogues which would have brought them closer to the reader. She even skipped DAYS by not telling us anything that was going on between the two MCs after finally seeing each other again after a whole year. Also, I really felt like the magic surrounding Lucifer just … left after that. As if the whole character just turned upside down, all the mysteriousness gone. A second thing I didn’t really like were the empty threats the MC was making the whole time. To be honest, every single character in this book was more interesting than her, but she swept us through the story, nonetheless. I hope the next instalment will bring more authentic emotions and development concerning the characters as well as some growth of the female MC Lilith aka Sid.
Still it was an extraordinary read and I would definitely recommend this one!

This book was supposed to be my Halloween book read but somehow I ended up having no time to read it during the weekend. I just finished it today at 2 in the morning while I was supposed to be sleep, so thanks a lot to authors for my sleep deprivation 😉

I don't know what the fuck to make of this book. It is the definition of dark. So am only recommending this to the those that have zero trigger!

Yeah, I don't know what the fuck to say about this book and that in it of itself is fucking weird.

I don't know and I hate this feeling! But I still liked the suspense and darkness and wrongness of it all. Ugh, someone help he figure out my feelings!!

All @bookish_gusto fault for recommending this to me and making me feel all sort of way.
