All the ghosts of Wes’s past are coming back to haunt him in a big way. A handwritten letter changes everything when he finds out his brother, Sam, is alive after Wes has thought him dead for years. The one who has tracked him down? The love of Wes’s life, Summer, but when she shows up on his doorstep, she isn’t the bright and cheery girl he left all those years ago. Summer is different now--tough, snarly, independent, angry, and wrestling with an animal side that is relentless. Nothing can hide the dark beauty that radiates from her though. Her anger is Wes’s fault, but he had good reason. And now she is sending him on a mission to avenge his brother and set Sam free from a dominant pack of werewolves that thrive in war. His only ally is the woman who hates him the most.

Summer isn’t so summery anymore. There are no happy rainbows hovering over her life right now as she struggles to control the savage wolf inside of her. She loved hard once, and got really burned, and now she’s back to send Wes on a fool’s mission that will probably get him killed. All she has to do is not get attached to the charming alpha of the Kaid Pack. That man was trouble since the day he was born, but there is something about Wes that calls to her. The more he reveals about the reasons he left her, the more she thinks she might have been wrong about everything, and now sending him on a mission to fight an entire pack doesn’t seem like such a good idea. If something bad happens to him, her heart might just get broken…again.

The time has come. Time to heal, time to rise up, time to protect the throat of the man she once loved. Even if it means the end of her.

Unforgivable 2nd chance make her submit

Incredibly disappointed. Second chance romance. After reading the first two books I was hoping Wes would find a female to gentle him and bringing out his caring side.
Unfortunately, his Ex Summer WHO HE LEFT, shows back up saying his brother Sam is alive.
The way he left her, destroyed her. She’s a shifter thanks for to him. Her wolf is angry and violent.
Instead of them working through things and him really hearing her out. He sees her anger and aggression and ALPHA CALMS HER. Basically uses his alpha juju to calm her into submission.
I find that incredibly upsetting when alpha shifters high handed force their shifter mates into submission. Especially in this situation where he had destroyed her. I don’t care that he apologized.
In my opinion, what he did and then never looking for her again all those years, it was not a forgivable offense.
But Summer just rolled over and submitted. All like her wolf adores him, oh he’s such an alpha, oh I can see he cares, he apologized. Blah blah. I don’t care about his reasoning for leaving and saying they could have not worked back then. And then instead of just saying he was the issue he points out she was WEAK! That she needed to grow stronger to handle him blah blah.
Summers back bone went out the window in this one. I have no respect for her now. And frankly, none for Wes either. Instead of really communicating he took what he understand, which yeah she was hurting, but instead of talking and time, he just alphahole’d her into submission. And that to me, felt like a worse break of spirit than when he shattered her by leaving.
This installment really ruined this series for me. I’ll check out Sam’s book, but this one would make me skip then entire series if I knew how it went before starting this series.

Surprise Summer🐺

Lift her up is the next book in the Kaid Ranch series and this one is about Wes, the Alpha and Summer, the one woman he left because he didn’t feel he could be the right man for her😢 But when she turns up with information that surprises Wes, he will do anything to show her the man he is now❣️

An awesome story that kept me glued to the pages and trying to get to the end as quickly as I could for my HEA😍 Loved it and I can’t wait for the next TS Joyce 5 star read, as she never disappoints😁

Wes was such a despicable bully to his little brother with an obvious learning disability—constantly belittling Hunter by calling him all manner of names for stupid—that I could never accept Wes as a “hero.”

I’m sure that Ms. Joyce was probably intending a tone of affectionate teasing and brawling (as in Boarlander Bears), but it didn’t work in this case. Most of book 2 focused on Hunter’s poor self-esteem and how he was deeply affected by the words and attitude of Wes, who he idolized.

And the hurt that supposedly made Wes act that way was because of his own cowardly, cruel, and selfish actions. No sympathy here.

You can skip this one.

Overall, I really liked Wes and Summer. I especially liked getting into the past and the search for Sam. Now Summer forgave Wes awfully quickly. I think a bit more apologizing was in order. But there's no denying that through whatever they've dealt with individually over the last years, they are a great couple now. Another short but sweet read. I really love this series though. Looking forward to Sam's story and seeing if my prediction will come true ;)

Nice shifter romance

Setting: mostly near Albuquerque, NM Contemporary
Genre: Shifter romance

This is the 3rd of four novellas in the Kaid Ranch Shifters series. It focuses on Wes Kaid, who, after his younger brother Hunter and ranch hand Bryson found mates, *finally* accepted his position as Alpha. He had not wanted to because he was still grieving his older brother Sam’s death after all 3 Kaids were bitten by a werewolf, and guilt over having bitten and changed his girlfriend Summer then leaving her.
He’s settling in to his new role when he gets a note from Summer with evidence that Sam is alive, then a visit from her. She isn’t the sweet, all pastels blonde anymore. She’s angry, hard, pierced, all dark, and dyed black hair. She reiterates that Sam is alive, an enforcer/second to their maker, Leif, and she’ll show him where he is if he wants him back.
Road trip! Also, serious relationship repair, graphic erotic sex, and at least a couple of major scenes of vicious violence. As with every book I’ve read by this author there is low humor mainly in dialogue (though not up to the standard of the original 3 series of her earlier Damon’s Mountain series). There might even be some pathos.
This author’s male characters usually have 2 modes: mean and horny. Aside from the violence, meanness is expressed by name calling and generally bad temper between the male characters. What tenderness there is, is usually associated with sex, and humor is mostly in the nicknames the characters christen one another with, and Dick jokes. The male leads in her novellas are brooding, damaged, and dangerous, or they seem to be simple yet wise savants. Wes is definitely the former. Joyce’s female main characters are more nuanced. Most are not conventionally beautiful, often suffering from low self-esteem because of a set-back, but always smart, strong, and outspoken. Summer is a different kind of heroine. More elemental. She is definitely strong and outspoken, but she is broken. She is violent. She is untutored and wild. She is, however, smart enough to seek therapy. That’s a bit different from the usual.
If you enjoy this sub genre of romance, T. S. Joyce is probably already in your collection. In this novella she provides everything you want in a shifter romance, and the excellence you can dependably expect from her.

Falling Together <3

I do not know of any other consistently hard working author, who provides us with character building and emotionally exciting stories, than TS Joyce!

She builds upon the joy of relationships, especially the worst ones, the ones that are painful, the ones that tease and taunt and are dark and even rude. She makes up words to provide complexity to these distraught human/shifters.

She makes them real. And we care about real. We care a whole hella’ lot about real. The real mistakes, the real love, the real fun, the real connections.

TS Joyce deserves credit for providing us with real good connections to her characters and worlds where we can lose ourselves.

Wes, Wes, Wesley, Wesapotamus, Western Weselus, Wessy, WesWes’ had a hard go in Lift Her Up. And Summer gave us Wolf. This story was the third that included the Kaid brothers.

At a time when uncertainty is felt in our world,I am thankful that TS Joyce is helping us get through it, one word at a time.

Wanted to give this better

FI love most of TS Joyce's books. However, this one bothered me a bit.

What I liked was the continuation of this story line and seeing all of the characters from the earlier 2 books. Love them all!

What I disliked was the relationship between Wes and Summer and the lack of an actual story. Maybe my opinion is being jaded by my own personal experiences, but Wes seemed completely unworthy to me. There are a few sweet moments between the two, but ultimately, as a reader, I couldn't forgive Wes's character flaws. I didn't see where there was such an epiphany on his part that he made this life altering change that the author says he made. This was more of a tell me, not show me book.

Summer's character was so sad. She did grow, but I'm not seeing how Wes's actions precipitated her change. I feel like she came to conclusions based on her own observations and decisions. I liked her... but she wasn't fleshed out enough. The relationship between Wes and Summer was too shallow.

Lastly, Sam. I'm looking forward to his book, but I hope we get to see more of an actual personality.

Still love these books, this one just didn't do it for me.

Worst supposed hero ever.
A quick read that didn't redeem Wesley at all. In fact, he came across as cowardly and a bully.
Using his alpha powers to control Summer, leaving her wolf to run after his truck after he goes off to fight alone.
He doesn’t accept Summer as his mate when they were younger as he apparently wasn’t emotionally ready.
He then abandons his MATE, AFTER turning her into a wolf shifter. Yes, it was an accident but he leaves her to try to work out how to be a wolf all by herself whilst he builds a new life and a ranch.
His interactions with Hunter are still demeaning.
Summer started with promise with her attitude and strong wolf side but she caves without an honest apology from Wes after he tells her how hard it was for HIM due to feeling guilty.
Sam, the rescued brother just seemed to flip a switch, no withdrawal symptoms after being used and abused for years.
This series is seriously neglected. Not a patch on some of the others by this author that had character and world building of interest.
There is little character development, humour, explanation or true story.

*WARNING* story contains explicit adult content
Wes was the king of guilt. If the there was an earthquake, Was would find some way for it to be his fault or it seemed that way. This story gives reason to the whys of Wes. These brothers lovingly throw insults at each other and call each other names, but they have each other's back too. Lift Her Up brings out lots of feels from Wes and from finding a brother who was believed deceased. I have read this series from book 1 and this one is my favorite so far.

Wow

Emotionally wow. So many things in this book. It packed so much. I will say this does show that love and hate can walk a very fine line. I love how Wes finally became the man he was supposed to be and that his mate had to suffer so horribly for his mistakes. Sadly he had to show her that he grew for her to grow. Some people just get stuck or broken by people or things.

But wow Sam aka Bones their missing brother! so many emotions.... I think poor Hunter when he sees Sam I had tears in my eyes.

fave

This is my fave of the series, im still not sure how this fits in the the whole world TS Joyce has created before, but i like it. I just wished it fit more in that world because i love damons mountains and all the spin offs, loved the nod to 1010 in this book, makes me want to go back and start damons mountains over. Hope we get another book in this series!

Another short and enjoyable Kaid Brothers book full of AWW moments. We finally get to know what happened in Wes' past that caused him so much angst... but if I were Summer? At the very least I would have pissed on him.

Meh. It was okay. I liked the drama at the end, but I didn’t like old Wes and how he treated Summer. I was confused though - apparently he was closed off and kept her at a distance, but then they’re talking about all the good memories he gave her? Weird. Anyway, it was an okay read. Hunter is hilarious.

TIRED

T S Joyce I need more from you yeah, I need more chapters, more diverse characters and most of all I need more gosh darn effort from you in these stories. The characters lack proper "character development" everything happens to fast and I know the ending middle and beginning before I even read the book. I feel as if you lost the love for this whole shifter series a while back and its really showing now I feel like you are writing just for writing sakes and every story feels and sounds the same all the men are broken and need equally broken mates to fix them and equally broken pack members sigh. Please let your characters develop let them work on their issues and stop using sex and mate bonds to fix it all sigh.

Finally we learn more about the missing brother and a surprising person leads the way. The taciturn H has secrets and she kidnaps him. Being together changes everything and instead of out of control anger, finally the h is able to re-claim her man. Fantastic balance of gore, angst and sweet first love.

Reviewed at Shifter Haven

I’ve been reading T.S. Joyce’s shifter romances for years now, and I admit that I am totally addicted to the worlds, the characters, the situations she creates – and I hope they never ever stop. So when I say that Lift Her Up is the most intense, gritty shifter romance I’ve read, well, you see there is some history behind that statement. I knew that when it came time to hear from Wes that it was going to be an amazing tale, I never expected the story we are gifted here that’s for sure. Intense, emotional, with underlying sizzling chemistry and history between Wes and Summer… and that’s just the first chapter!

Have you ever read a book where you could actually “feel” the pain, the emotional anguish of the characters through their words, their actions? That’s probably the best way I can describe Lift Her Up without giving away what I’d consider spoilers without any great details in this review. We learn what happened, years ago, told to us by Wes’s words, memories, pain, and trying to get Summer to understand why things happened as they did. Neither is the person they once were on that fateful night.

I hurt for both Summer and Wes – it’s as simple as that. What these brothers and one brother, not of blood, have gone through is unimaginable – yet they survived, some might say thrived in many ways especially after finding their mates and having their lives turned around in far different ways. I was held captive by this story and loved every moment spent back in this world. We aren’t done just yet, and that is a story I’m really looking forward to.

Yes, very vague about this story and I’m not one bit sorry for you should discover the emotional intensity of Lift Her Up for yourself. If you devour Shifter Romance that makes your heart pound, forces a few unexpected laughs to escape, and need characters that feel so real, then you’ll want to read this series. I’d start from the beginning since they do, in some ways, build on each other. But the Kaid Ranch Shifters is a series that any Paranormal Romance or Shifter Romance fan would love.

I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.

Reality or Illusion???

Wesley "Wes" Kaid has never been the same after his big brother Samuel "Sam" died. It was up to him to take care of their younger brother, Hunter ( MAKE HER NEW ). Which he did but along the way, he pushed his emotions down and wasn't letting anyone get to close to him. His wolf chose a mate for them but he had to let her go, Sunmer wasn't meant for his kind of life.

One day while retrieving the mail, he got an unexpected surprise in the form of a handwritten letter from Summer. The latter sent him a picture of his late brother, Sam. But how could that be, Sam died or did he!?

Summer Rsyne had never loved ayone as much as she'd loved Wes Kaid, he was her everything and then one day he broke her heart into a million pieces. She was now a changed woman, she wasn't as cheery as she was before. Now she had a wolf living inside of her, one that she couldn't control. She found herself at Wes's doorstep once again after many years.

She was still hurting from his past actions but as she got to reconnect with him, she came to realize that there was more to him leaving her heart broken than she thought. They needed to go and get Sam from a vicous pack and in doing so, it could mean the death of the man she'd always loved.

Seeing the Kaid brothers coming together again after the ordeal they all went through was heartwarming. I liked the bond Wes had with his pack, he was stronger now that he had his mate with him again.

LIFT HER UP  is the third installment in T. S. Joyce's  KAID RANCH SHIFTERS  series. What an amazingly breathtaking, tearjerker and intriguing journey. Magnificent job by T. S. Joyce. I'm looking forward to the next installment. Two thumbs up!

End of the road for me with this author

I've read three books by the author and am admitting defeat.
The characterisation is poor, with little to form a connection to the characters. They are one dimensional.
The plotline is simplistic, with holes all over the place. The genre usually has its own 'rules' universally accepted by authors, but I find the utter lack of any concern when the 'bear' kills another, defenceless, domesticated animal (frequently) for no reason, disturbing.
The alpha knows nothing about being alpha and the author mistakes arrogance for authority. Wes is so unlikable I didn't care if he lived or died. Summer was so mixed up as a character it was like being in a windmill. Of course, after one night with Wes she was all fixed so that's okay.
The portrayal of Hunter as the village idiot belies his own story.
If there were such things as shifters you can be assured this pack would be rednecks.
The writing style is odd, little tell and less show. It's all about the feelings, bearing in mind the attempt at romantic angst falls utterly flat.
There are numerous errors, missing words, mixed tense and punctuation all over the place.
I found the books lacking in substance and can honestly say they felt like a rough draft waiting to be padded out.
There is one sex scene and some swearing.
I don't think I can recommend the books unless the audience is YA.
This is the end of the line for me.

This is the third book in this series. They should be read in order. This book focuses on Wes. His past is coming back. Summer has some shocking news not only for Wes but for the rest of his pack. Summer has changed. Since Wes gave her a wolf and left her wolf has become dark. She knows there is a good chance he could die doing what she wants him to do but she doesn’t much care. Or that is at least until she gets to know him again. She wants to continue to hate him but she just can’t seem to. Wes can’t believe what Summer is telling him. It is great news but nothing is ever easy. Wes won’t let a second chance with Summer go to waste. He will show that he has changed. Could it be too late though. If he does what he wants he likely won’t survive for it to matter. This book was so good. Wes goes through a lot in this book. The whole pack is shocked in the end. This book kept me on my toes. I can’t wait for the next book in this series.

I usually like this author’s short shifter books, but lately they are either hit or miss. Lift Her Up is the third book in the Kaid Ranch series. Wes became the alpha in book two and in this installment we get his story.

Wes is grumpy and surly most of the time. He and his two brothers were turned into wolves against their will and he held his oldest brother Sam as he watched him die. Or so he thought. Summer was Wes’ girlfriend who his wolf turned. Wes left when he realized what he had done and has always regretted leaving her. Now Summer is back and she has news about his brother Sam.

My first impression of Summer was that she was annoying and childish. She wasn’t as bad in the middle of the book, but the silliness began again at the end when she, Maris and Sadey got together. It’s probably just me, but I’m not a fan of the juvenile/corny humor that was in this book. Instead of being funny, it felt like young children throwing insults at each other.

This was quite an emotion roller coaster with the Alpha of the Kaid Pack and his second chance at love. Summer showed up with shocking news for Wes and that was hard emotional journey by it's self and adding Summer into it was a story of anger, regret, sadness, betrayal and so much hurt.

I felt these things along with the characters as they waded their way through a field of emotions and forgiveness as they realized they were more perfect for each other now than they ever were before.

Summer was a delightful ball of anger and sarcastic comments. I loved her so much. Seeing the love Wes had for his one and only love, made me love her even more. Wes has grown throughout the series but I think his character grew the most through the pages of this book. I'm so excited to see what happens in the 4th Kaid Ranch Shifters book.

I've read pretty much every one of this author's books and I love them. And I liked this one very much but it was missing something- maybe a bit of the heart that I expect from her books. I didn't feel the connection between the characters as much as I usually do. This is a second-chance romance but I didn't feel the yearning. We were told it was there but the author does usually do a better job with building that emotional connection. And then there were some pretty obvious editorial issues (one scene, Wes was in a towel and then in that scene, there was a mention of his zipper- which as far as I know, no towels require zippers).

That said, this author still writes some of my favorite shifter romances. They are usually short, to the point but so full of heart. And this one was still a good entry andI'm still looking forward to the next one in the series.

Can't wait for Sams's book!

Lift Her Up: Kaid Ranch Shifter Book 3
By T. S. Joyce
Kindle unlimited purchase
The Kaid brothers thought their brother Sam was dead but when Wesley gets a letter in the mail saying he was alive. He does what any person would do. He stays right on the ranch and doesn't go look for him. Right now that wouldn't be a book now, would it? Nope, he takes off without any help from his brothers and goes an looks for Sam himself.
Summer and Wesley have history and it's not a very good one. But when she saw Sam was alive she knew she had to tell Wesley. But with their history, she knew it wasn't going to be easy.
I love these Kaid brothers and I can't wait for the next book in the series to come out. This book had me on the edge of my seat. I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. It had so much action. And the sexual content omg HOT.

Awesome!!!

Loved it, Wes sure is getting in the groove to be a true alpha and being the brawler helped with fighting for his brother's life. Summer sure had a hard life, but all is right as rain as Wes put the pieces of her heart back together, and in the process healing himself. Now I just loved how Hunter found out his brother is alive, although it took a while for him to come to terms that his brother was still alive. And now Sam who was thought dead is alive and coming around..a bond like the kaid brother's surely came through and everything turned out A okay and they got their long lost brother back..Now waiting patiently for Sam story..good read same as always big fan Winzie19☺💞.

Long Lost Love

A letter from the past, changes their future! Wes watched his brother Sam die in his arms, there is no way he is still alive! Summer hates Wes for leaving her after he turned her and didn’t teach her anything about being a wolf! The love of her life left her to fend for herself! Now she’s back and she has a quest for him, that just may kill him. Does she care, hell no! She wants him to kill their “Maker”, the one who changed the Kain Brothers into the wolves they are. What happens when you find something you thought you’d lost forever? Only to realize, even if he’s alive, he may still be lost to you? This was a sweet, sexy and a bit steamy story about finding what you thought you lost! Check it out today!
