While Bryn professes to be nothing more than a warrior, her feelings for Master Vampire, Sinjin Sinclair, can’t be denied. But neither can her feelings for Dureau Chevalier, the enigmatic man who has appeared in her dreams since she was a child.
As Sinjin and Dureau continue to pursue Bryn, she finds herself wondering if maybe there is room for love in her heart. But who will she choose?
Unfortunately for Bryn, her love troubles aren’t the only troubles to plague her. Even more important is her belief that there’s a traitor in her sister’s court, someone who is feeding information to Luce, public enemy number one.
As the future of Kinloch Kirk becomes more and more unclear, Bryn will have to figure out the best way to bring the fight to Luce.
I’m a huge fan of anything paranormal and I always have been. I get super excited whenever they have those Twilight Zone Marathon days and anything ghost or vampire related will always attract my attention.
My interests are varied but aside from writing, I’m most excited about traveling. I’m extremely fortunate to have been able to live in England and Scotland, both places really having a profound effect on my books.
Thanks for checking out my books and I hope you enjoy them! Happy Haunting!
Bryn is still confused by her feelings for the Dureau and Sinjin. She has strong connection to Dureau since he's been there for her since she was a child. Bryn also feels a very powerful attraction to Sinjin. She knows she must make a decision, but right now she has more important things to focus on.
After experiencing another vision, Bryn is almost certain their is a traitor in their camp. She has to play things just right if she wants to expose them. Meanwhile, Luce is attacking Damek's mind. Bryn knows what that's like and keeping Luce out is their number one priority. Their lives depend on it.
THE FLAME is the fourth addition to H.P. Mallory's BRYN AND SINJIN series. I give it 3.5 stars. Several key things happen in THE FLAME, but everything is explained thoroughly and in great detail so it's easy to keep up with what all is going on. At this point in the series, I am more a fan of the mysterious Dureau, but it seems pretty clear that Sinjin and Bryn are meant to be. I cannot wait to read book five, THE SUITOR.
This author’s books are always excellent. In Book 4, the battle is still going on to defeat Luce and figure out the significance of Bryn’s premonition that foretold the deaths of her sister Jolie, her niece, and Master Vampire Sinjin Sinclair as Luce laid siege to Kinloch Kirk out of revenge at the loss of his arm. Furthermore, Bryn is interested in two men, Sinjin as well as Dureau Chevalier, in a love triangle that doesn’t seem to make much progress toward a final choice.
Bryn’s premonition of a traitor feeding information to Luce to bring that death and destruction keeps everyone on edge, training for the advantage, and trying to keep Luce from making the premonition come about. There is always tons of action, intrigue, romance, and humor from the characters the reader knows so well. The story line is good with many twists and turns which we have come to expect. Hopefully we will see more progress in all areas soon so that Sinjin and Bryn can find their HEA.
This is book four in the series and is getting better and better . The battle to beat Luce is still going strong and they are also trying to figure out Bryn's premonition of inpending death of Jolie and her niece and also the death of Sinjin . There is also a love triangle between Sinjin and Bryn and Dureau Chevalier . This book has action and romance . The characters are well written . Sinjin is hot as always . Bryn is stuck between the two men in her life . I kind of felt that she was just a little naïve in parts of the book . I mean she has Sinjin right there and well he is smoldering good looking and is wanting her . They would be such an amazing couple if they would just get together . Luce is well he is battling everyone . I really liked the story but I also felt the author kind of stalled half way through . It just kind of fell flat . It does pick up again and the author takes us on a great ride. The characters are well written and you will like them a lot . I really want Sinjin to get his happily ever after . He really does deserve it . I will tell you there is a cliff hanger .
If your going to read this series be aware that the phrase "what does that even mean?" seems to be the authors favorite phrase, especially with main character. It's used to either convince the reader the main character isn't intelligent enough to grasp the obvious or, a ploy to further explain and make the story longer. included in this repetitive behaviour the author describes recent and past circumstances constantly so that you may skip huge sections while reading to get to a progressive part. ..makes reading a good but easier. While this review sounds negative, it is not. the story is a trifle annoying but it is a good. I wrote this review purely in hope that the author quits abusing these techniques to lengthen a book that ultimately detracts from this work.
I’m a big fan of the Bryn and Sinjin series. With that said, I am frustrated with the stagnancy of their relationship. I’m tired of Sinjin being in love triangles. But, another part of me feels that he would not be as intrigued if the path were clear and simplistic. As a master vampire and lord protector to the royal family, he is used to training with and protecting Bryn. She finds herself drawn to Sinjin but frightened due to her history of abuse. Sinjin has attempted to avenge her honor and ultimately put himself in great danger. Bryn is unaccustomed to emotions yet has feelings for someone who offered her solace during her childhood. I’m not happy with this struggle but am hopeful it will make the ending sweeter.
This series just gets better and better each time and I love Sinjin and Bryn's bickering. I'm afraid to say anymore afraid I might say too much but damn this book was exciting to read and I can't wait for the next book!!!! So much more to know, analyze and understand. Damn Luce is a psycho!!! Loved it!!
Loved it and can't wait for the next one in the series. Sinjin is always a fun character to read about. I would like to read more about Jolie and see an increase in her power and strength. I know the book is about sinjin and Bryn but Jolie is the queen and should show greater strength. just a thought, the book is definitely worth reading and I did enjoy it.
I am guessing this book was to set up for the next one, building lots of depth on the characters and their relationships but a bit long winded in some parts. I did not enjoy this book as much as I have enjoyed the others in the series so far.
Can't wait to see how the war unfolds. And as always I'm holding out hope that sinjin gets the girl, he was so close! Cabot wait for the next book. Hp never let's her fans down!
I finished the book in two days that was bc I was working. I can believe the way it finished. Fascinating. Am in love with all the books. Best ever. Love Sinjin
I have waited patiently for Bryn to choose between Sinjin, whom I feel she is fated to belong or the frog. How much longer? I grow weary of so much war
I love this series, however Bryn really needs to choose already! Sinjin seems like her true love. After this story there is too much suspicion against the frog. The story was really heating up when it ended. Patiently waiting for the next book!!
Hp Mallory does not disappoint! I loved how everything became more complicated and the characters were fighting so hard for one another. I love how the book ended with a spectacular cliffhanger. I can't wait for the next one!
An excellent continuation of the Luce trying to rid the world of Jolie, Rand and so many more. Sinjin and Bryn and Dureau are a triangle of romance so to speak. Each want Bryn and with the war on she wants to explore the relationship but circumstances do not allow for that to happen. Given the prediction by Bryn there appears to be a traitor on the premises. Luce keeps trying to find a way to Damek to use him for his purposes. Lots of action, subterfuge , action, romance and humor. Advice from a teenager to Sinjin was interesting. Lots of plot twists but the cliff hanging ending makes me want answers now! I look forward to the next book and the budding/ romance conquests in the next book! I highly recommend this entire series!
