Darkness #1-4

Darkness: The Complete Series

Rate this book
Two mortal enemies rule this city - and I belong to them both

I once fawned at the supernatural beings in our city. I marveled at their powers and praised them for saving us from murderers, rapists and arsonists.
Then I met him. The city’s most prominent superhuman. Its favored hero.
He saved my life. And then… then he marked me as his pet and taught me that in St. Anthony, there are no such things as heroes.
But with his claim, he caught the attention of everything that is dark and twisted in this city. Their eyes are on me now, and one of them will stop at nothing to take what belongs to his enemy.
Especially me.

No human woman can survive two powerful beings using her body as their battleground, but my city is doomed, corruption eating away at its very core. If I want to save it, I’ll have to submit to both the men determined to own me.
Breed me.

I am Nora Ash, and I write a plethora of different romance books. Some of them are really dirty, some of them are only kinda-dirty, some are paranormal, some are contemporary… Basically, I have a rampant imagination and no way of controlling it, except from just writing down whichever idea pops into my head at the time.

The one thing my books always have in common, though? A great story and a guaranteed HEA.
If you’re ever in doubt about what you’re about to read, have a look at my book page. It has a flame rating for each series, so you know what you’re getting yourself into!

I’m originally from the cold North (AKA Scandinavia) but these days I live in rainy England with my amazing fiancé and our two pesty cats. When I’m not writing, I’m probably reading, watching Real Housewives of Wherever (reality tv it’s my shameful addiction) or hiking in whatever bit of woodland I can find.

Three fun facts about me

I once ran away with a traveling circus
I’m bilingual. Almost-kinda trilingual, but my Spanish is terri-bad these days.
I’m a decent rider (English style only, though)

MFM PNR romance. The worldbuilding is kind of interesting bcos the H's are superheroes who it turns out are descended from dragon shifters though they can't shift anymore now. The 'supes' community treats the humans as sheep/slaves which is so not my thing, but the H's are great plus the sex is superhot, so it all balances out!! The h had low self-esteem and was tstl and drove me nuts but she got better in the second half. This was all set in a place St.Anthony's which reminded me a lot of Gotham City- the moody atmosphere, the crime, the corruption...

Both the H's adored the h. The bad superhero H was actually nicer to h, possessive and all in from the beginning once he senses h is his 'fated mate' while the good guy supe/playboy H was actually commitment -phobic and pushed the h away but he came around in the second half. The sex was superhot and rough and I think I'm giving the book an extra star just for that, lol!

When Nora Ash asked me if i was interested in the ARC of the updated edition of the boxset of Darkness,i immediately said YES PLEASE! And what a story it turned out to be....with one sweet, sassy and curvy herione, and not one,but two superheroes! Or supes,as they call themselves.....

Kathryn was doing her best to mind her own business, trying to keep her blog alive, when she went for a simple coffee and ended up being saved by Lightning. Not only that, she even managed to ask him a few questions. But when he was rude to her,he suddenly wasn’t the hero she always thought him to be....Writing a blog with her feelings still raw wasn’t the best idea she ever had, though. Because it lands her in a lot of trouble. Lightning finds her,”marks” her and warns her to stay out of that trouble if she knows what’s good for her. Her interest piqued, she decides to start her own investigation. And that lands her in the path of The Shade, the town’s bad supe....He sees the”mark”,tells her it’s only partial, and shows her exactly what a full mark is. From there, she can’t seem to get away from either supe for long.....or out of trouble. What will happen to her? Will these two “sworn enemies” ever leave her in peace? Does she really want them to? Because, let’s face it,she feels something......for both! And what is really happening in st. Anthony? Is bad really bad,and how about good? The world seems to be upside down, and it’s up to the trio to find out what is really going on.....

Only question i have now,is where can i find me some supes?
Because if these two,in spite of their little flaws, are indeed part of a large community,i want a few of my own!

I absolutely love this series. The universe is great and it's got some super hawt sexiness in it as well as a great storyline. Nora Ash is absolutely one of my favs. authors and if you haven't read her books yet - GO GO GO!

I think one of the things that drew me to this series the most - is the universe. It's not a very common trope I have come across, it's not "overused" and the writing is very good. The author had me captivated from the "get-go" and I just couldn't put it down. This was the type of books that had me turn the page and look at the time...but still telling myself "just a bit more...". And I absolutely love that.

The action is great, there are some really nice action scenes and I could always just picture everything, which is a great writing skill the author has. I never lost the plot or the "red- thread" in this series, and I never felt like something was missing.

The two 'Supes' were great Alpha Male specimen, especially our main characters and just so people know, this is a triangle - there are threesomes. ;) But it is super hot - so make sure you get the ice cubes...you'll need it! ;) <3

The fact that the h is on the plus size is something I always love in series, I enjoy it when authors are not afraid to show off a woman's body as more than just the "mainstream" movie model etc - but to write about normal shapes and sizes as well as the more plus-sized ones. I can relate more when I read these types - which is enjoyable.

I have read this series a number of times in the past, it is well worth it and you don't want to miss it if you are an Urban Fantasy/Fantasy romance fan, and into Alpha males with a strong heroine. :)

This is one of my fav series of all time. Why? First of all, I was an avid reader of comic books as a child and teenager, so this series being based on supes (not so much superheroes) made it super-juicy, specially since it's not a common theme even in the fantasy/urban fantasy genre. Second, the h is a plus size woman, which makes her more relatable to me (not every woman can relate to tall, slim and super-model types), and the cherry on top of the cake is there's not just one MMC but two and the h is the fortunate recipient of both heroes' attentions. They are the perfect alpha male characters with just the right touch of dominance, hotness and masculinity * gush

This series is a combination of mistery, action, intrigue and smut. I loved the conspiracy sub-plot as much as the romance/erotic part in this series, and they're fluidly integrated with one another. The world building around the supes' community is absolutely original, no gamma radiation or dark matter explosions here to explain the origin of the supes...you'll have to read these books to know more, but if you're into Urban Fantasy you'll love this.

There's not one single boring line in Darkness, the rhythm is dynamic and the hotness of the chemistry between the main characters is volcanic level hot. I have read the complete series at least three or four times already and I keep enjoying it every single time. That's why I highly recommend it to anyone who needs to dream about a fantasy world where super-alpha hunks take your breath...and your panties away.

This could have been a solid 4 star read. The story was good in itself. There was a lot of sex but the plot managed to continue to move. The main character got a bit annoying after too many times “I’m coming with you” and “I can help.” She was suppose to be a blogger but really didn’t spend any time writing anything.

But what really brought this book down to a barely passable 3 stars, was the wholly-mother-of-god load of fat references of our leading lady. I can handle chubby characters so long as I’m not reminded of it on every page. And this story went there. But what really gets my buns burning is the fact that the cover model on this series is IN NO WAY FAT! What's wrong? Couldn’t find a model to match your character in the book. The only characteristic that they share is the possibility they both could be short. Our character is SUPPOSE to be a plain, unordinary, heavy, chubby, fat, (see the highlights), and unremarkable. That is NOT the image that is on the cover. So stop selecting cover images because they depict some attractive woman on it and doesn’t reflect the actual characteristics of our leading lady.

DELICIOUSLY DARK, SERIOUSLY SEXY, COMPLETELY CAPTIVATING!!!
Title: Darkness: The Complete Series
Author: Nora Ash
Designation: Books One thru Four of a Completed Serial, Standalone Novel, NO Cliffhanger
Genre: Paranormal Menage Romantic Suspense
My Rating: FIVE SUPER STEAMY STARS *****
I fell head over heels for Darkness by Nora Ash and read and reviewed it as it was originally published in four separate releases. Fortunately for you, Ash has now consolidated all four books into one convenient and economical collection. There's nothing I love more than reading a great book and sharing that love with my fellow readers. And the best way to do just that is by reviewing the books I read. I'm not a professional reviewer but I know what I like, what I love and more importantly, what I don't and I absolutely loved this series, so much so that I'd like to share with you the reviews I posted for each of the books in this collection.
I first began reading Nora Ash last year when she dazzled her readers with the release of her spellbinding Demon's Mark Series and I've been a fan ever since. I loved it and could hardly wait to see what Ash would dream up for us next. Well, here it is and Ash never disappoints! So, light the fires, kick the tires and brace yourself, my lovelies! You're in for one heck of a great read! And believe me when I say, Ash pulled out all the stops and roared toward the finish in this action-packed, super sexy final installment of the story! Oh my glory! The story is exceptionally well crafted and well written as well as original, unique, exciting, thrilling, action-packed, full of danger, romantic, sexy, arousing and hotter than a firecracker on the Fourth of July! In Book One, the narrative was written in the first person from the point of view of the heroine, a naive but stubbornly independent twenty six year old self-employed cultural blogger. As the series progressed, the author added an integral and necessary third person point of view from both of the male protagonists which increased the intensity, complexity and understanding of the story and the characters. I admit, this was my first time reading a book with both a first and third person point of view but it flowed beautifully. The dialogue is smart, witty, well executed and flows effortlessly. The characters are complex, captivating, engaging, seductive, sexy as sin and surprisingly, at times, laugh out loud funny. Oh yes, even with all the danger, drama and life threatening antics, there's a delightful thread of humor woven into the story. I caught myself giggling much of the time. The characters literally explode from the pages, draw you in, grab your attention and capture your heart from beginning to end. Ash skillfully combines these elements into a brilliantly entertaining paranormal/supernatural romance filled to the brim with danger, darkness, intrigue, mystery, suspense, angst, undeniable attraction, and undeniable romance. Once I started reading, I simply could not stop. I eagerly awaited the release of each new installment. It is a completely new spin on paranormal romance and actually has a compelling and fascinating plot peppered with thrills, chills, mystery and enigmatic characters. I find that I not only enjoyed it but really loved it. Different is not always better but in this case, it definitely is! What did I love about this book? Everything! What didn't I like? Not a darn thing, other than the fact that it ended! I wanted to keep reading! Would I recommend it? You bet and I am but only for adult readers since it does contain some super dreamy sex scenes! Will I read this author again? Absolutely!

Book One: Into the Darkness
When you live in a city like St Anthony that has a crime rate of forty percent above the national average, it's safe to say there's always a crime to write about but struggling, small-time, cultural blogger Kathryn Smith never thought she would get her badly needed big break through personal experience. On a late night run to her favorite coffee shop, she's held at gunpoint by two masked gunman while they rob the shop and demand cappuccinos to go. Huh? What self respecting criminal waits for coffee to go? Obviously, the stupid kind! But at least their stupidity results in giving her the chance of a lifetime - an opportunity to interview the masked superhuman hero identified in the press and social media as Lightning. He was tagged with the moniker as a result of his supernatural speed not because of his ability to control lightning, although after seeing him in person, she could imagine that he may actually be able to do just that! He's beyond sizzling hot! So, despite the danger, shattering glass and flying bullets, Kathryn whips out her trusty camera-phone and presses record. However, disappointment soon follows exaltation when she realizes that Lightning is just another typical, cheeky, flirty and obnoxious member of the male species. She would just have to work with what she has even if he isn't the "Golden Boy" she'd always imagined. She could still write an article about him and the other "supes" that would generate some much needed traffic for her blog and she would make sure it's a great article. He had the nerve to question her as a serious reporter?! Well, she would show him exactly how serious she could be. As opposed to all the other journalists who fawned and drooled over him, she would expose him and the other superhumans for the jerks they are! She would be just the opposite and expose the truth, so take that vigilante heroes! Not that she isn't thankful that Lightning had saved her chubby little behind, but his rude comments have jolted her from her hero worship and given her an entirely new perspective on the way the mayor and the city of St Anthony rely on the superhuman vigilantes to protect them from the ever looming darkness threatening to consume the city. The masked vigilantes act above the law, meting out their own justice and punishment, and they definitely should not be praised for their violent, unregulated conduct. They need to be policed and stopped. After being "semi-claimed" during a late night visit from Lightning, Kathryn becomes all too aware of the fact that she knows nothing about the true nature of the superhumans nor their special abilities. She's more determined than ever to uncover the truth but another unfortunate encounter with the criminal element of the city while looking for clues, leaves her in the clutches of the worst superhuman of all - Shade. The infamous Shade makes Lightning look like a poster boy for the Boy Scouts. And he wants to claim her too, but he intends to really "claim" her. Oh my glory!

Book Two: Hidden in Darkness
It has now been four days since that first fateful night when curvaceous Kathryn Smith had been rescued from a robbery and unceremoniously claimed by the popular superhuman hero Lightning. Twenty four hours later, she finds her life at risk again but this time she's rescued not by Lightning but by the infamous, unscrupulous Shade. What? And the price he demands for rescuing her was very steep indeed - her complete submission. Oh yes, Lightning and Shade both have now claimed her. But to what end? Why her and how is it even possible? Kathryn thought she wanted the exciting life of an investigative reporter but now finds that she already misses her former mundane existence as a reclusive blogger of cultural issues and its resulting monotony. Maybe she's just not cut out to be a crack investigative journalist and live life on the edge. Nope, she doesn't like flirting with danger at all - not one little bit. And she certainly doesn't like being claimed by not one but two "supes". Or does she? Hmm...I wonder??? But if that's the case, why does she once again find herself traipsing through the dangerous seedy underbelly of the city following another lead and looking for more clues of the existing corruption and possible links between Mayor Wilkins and the superhuman heroes. Now after several sexual encounters with both irresistibly sexy but not so good heroes wondering who is good and who is bad and finally deciding both are bad, Kathryn soon comes to an awakening and jolting realization. She can't seem to be able to resist either of the handsome supes but in order to protect herself from Lightning and the Shade, and whatever personal vendetta they have against each other as well as the evil machinations of the Mayor, she will need every single journalistic instinct she possesses to survive but little does she know that by questioning the morals and tactics of the mayor and the unregulated, glorified masked superhumans, she has opened Pandora's Box and her actions are about to rain down hell and wreak havoc on her safe, orderly life. And to add to the ever growing danger and risk to her life, Kathryn has inadvertently discovered the identity of the not so charming Shade along with some not so flattering and very dangerous information about him. Will he want to kill her now as well? Will Kathryn be able to figure out what's really going on before it's too late?

Book Three: Shades of Darkness
Kathryn may have two super human heroes laying claim to her but unfortunately, that now means she has also acquired their enemies and has now become a target. She's been kidnapped by Bright, an evil, power-hungry supe, who wants to use her to weaken both Lightning and The Shade. In order to save her, both must make an appearance to the supe Council and they each must claim her together. It's well known in the city that the two supes are bitter enemies and would never work together for anything or anyone. Or would they??? Even if Lightning and Shade do publicly lay claim to her, which is totally unheard of and has never happened before, will it be enough to protect and save her from the Mayor, his goons, Bright and the superhuman Council? And if so, who will protect her from them??? And just exactly what are their intentions toward the beautiful, curvaceous and very naive blogger. Why is Kathryn's college friend Trish suddenly so interested in helping her with the investigation? And how does the supe Mirome, Lightning and Shade's former teacher and mentor, figure into this complicated puzzle???

Book Four: Fires in the Darkness
Oh my! Oh my! Oh my! Fire in the Darkness is the fourth and final book in the riveting new Darkness series by Nora Ash and oh my goodness, it's amazing! Kathryn has been kidnapped - again! She's been betrayed by Trish, her best friend from college. What the heck? It seems Trish is not much of a friend and she's teamed up with Mirome and Bright to bring down Kathryn and her two new superhuman mates. Oops! Yes, I said mates. They have both now laid claim to the lovely, curvaceous blogger...um...I mean freelance journalist. Yep, we have a triad, folks and it's hotter than hot! But Mirome and Bright plan to kill Kathryn, take the city, enslave the humans and why stop there? They want to restore themselves to power and once again, rule the world. Huh? Oh yes, because dragons used to rule the earth. Oops! I may have let a small spoiler slip! Oh well, it's too late now. *wink wink* But the real question, will Lightning and The Shade be able to defeat their superhuman enemies, save the city of St Anthonys and in doing, save the world??? Well maybe - but are they willing to sacrifice their super secret identities to do it? And more importantly, can the two former friends and now enemies put their personal differences aside to work together to save Kathryn and be her mates? We'll see! But never fear - the devil always collects his due and we do find out the identity of Lightning and The Shade! Oh my goodness! This just gets better and better! No spoilers from me - well, not many - but I will say this....Beautiful, intelligent blogger, I mean journalist, who is too inquisitive for her own good-check! Two handsome sexy superhuman heroes who seem determined to claim one lovely journalist-check! Danger, drama, betrayal, kidnapping, mystery, suspense, intrigue, adventure, "superhumans", corruption and malevolent enemies-check! Heated attraction, fiery passion and steamy dreamy sex-you bet! And did I mention an outrageously sexy menage a trois? Oh yes! Thrills, chills and a whole lot more! And just between you and me, these superhumans sound an awful lot like supernaturals, paranormals and shifters. Secrets are exposed and identities revealed and you will be shocked! This is one series you don't want to miss! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read!

***3-1/2  Mature for violence, dubious consent, various abuses of adults and minors, gritty sex scenes, Erotica. Other tags: Fiction-Adult-fantasy, reporters and crime, world domination plot, politics and power, super-powers or magic, enemy-to-lovers, body image, M-f-M, breeding.

This story arch seems to have a high ratio of graphic sex:story-plot scenes with two main protagonists, a sudo-villian, and two main villains plus the rest of the criminal element one would find in a Gotham-like city. Not sure where the sci-fi tag is coming from as there is no mention that the supernaturals are from another planet or using futuristic technology and/or weapons. The romantic bits were nice. Both men love their girl for herself, curves and all, even though she can be just as pushy as they are. Just as she finds both endearing and annoying qualities in her lovers.

This is not a clear cut Super Hero to all vs would be World Dictator Overlords. Both sides see themselves as more mighty than mere humans and they would be right as far as physical strength and some abilities are concerned. Both sides of the supernatural cold war are still prone to ethical and emotional frailties which lead to the climatic confrontation. The aftermath has humans looking for ways to punish all "supes" for the damages caused by the cross fire while still not facing the corruption within the city's infrastructure that caused the need for third party vigilantes to protect citizens from the human criminals at large. I was not satisfied by the ending. I wanted a happy ending instead of an okay one. I have not heard if this series will continue in future books but it is the end of this particular cautionary tale story arch. Everyone has their faults, even the good guys.

I have been meaning to read this series for some time, so was very excited to recieve an ARC of the complete series in one book.
It's based around the Alpha/Omega concept but with a Superhero/Human theme, which works brilliantly. The female protagonist is relatable and thought provoking and I often found myself emotionally drawn in by her own inner angst. Her personal growth through the series is apparent, although at times I find her a little slow on the uptake, considering her intelligence in most other areas. The Alpha 'Supers' are descriptively delicious, with strong characteristics...I would have loved a bit more background info on them but that's because I liked them so much.
The plot was clear, with a investigative journalism/mystery element, that was an engaging setting for all the kinky action. The erotic element was plentiful and beautifully devious, the female lead holds her own but (quite believably) doesn't say "no" much. There is a teeny-tiny element of dubcon at the start but that enhances the scene imho.
I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys strong sexy Alphas, intelligent relatable females and fast-moving relationships with lots of racy scenes, in a non-complex plot.
There are mentions of physical torture, which is discussed post scene and not experienced with the character at the time and there is some violence within Superhero/villain type battles. They're not drawn out or gory in their description but if you're sensitive to that kind of thing, you might consider looking into something more peaceful.

Thanks Nora Ash for another fun read!

This series was so much fun to read. I had a hard time putting it down. Superhumans co-exist with the regular humans but there is a sinister plot brewing.

In Novella 1: Her life goes from tortoise to hare when she blogs about the superhero vigilantes and the corrupt Mayor, after she takes a video of Lightning putting a stop to a robbery in her coffee shop. What will Kathryn do when the dregs of the town and the vigilantes hunt her down?

In Novella 2: As things really start to heat up, Kat continues to ignore the warning from her 2 Supes… So of course things are about to get sticky. Yep that's right people 2 SUPERNATURALS loving on her. But of course things aren't so easy.

In Novella 3: Well all right!!! Shade is not shockingly my favorite of the superhuman duo. It will be interesting to see if we find out why they are nemesis'. And is their teacher on their side or has he gone to the dark side? Kat doesn't like being treated as a pet or a lesser by the rest of the Supe population and her sarcastic little mouth might get her in a heap more trouble

In Novella 4: Woooooo….. What a spectacular ending to the series! I am surprised that Kat wasn't evicted from her apartment with as much noise as the 3 of them continued to make. hahaha. Hopefully there will be more from this group in the future!

I love the new Amazon covers. I do think that they should match up to the characters in the story a bit better. A plump, curvy woman doesn't match with any of the covers and our superhuman men wear masks most of the story.

I was gifted an ARC in return of an honest review.

Four hot shorts has just become one scorching winner.

I had previously read and loved these four hot books separately and when I saw they were now a "boxed set" - WOW - of course I had to get my hands on it ASAP because I knew there was only one way to improve on these books … making it so that I did not have to stop reading in between books!

Let me get right to it by saying this story is !! H-O-T !! and it is quite explicit (including slightly dub-con) not meant for anyone below 18 years. Darkness is fast paced from start to end and is mainly written from the heroine's pov but there are a few chapters from the heroes pov - caught that did you, because yes, this is a menage romance with MFM. The heroine, Kathryn, gets more than she bargained for when she gains the attention of rival "supes" aka supernaturals, Lighting and The Shade. But she is no meek little human female and is willing to fight when things get tough, so if they think she will just sit (or lie) back and do whatever they say she must, they should think again.

Darkness is filled with mystery and intrigue and just when you think you know what is happening, the author adds a twist that will leave you wondering who is good and who is evil. There is so much deceit, it will leave your head spinning but ultimately, it ends in a hea and I loved the growth of the characters through the book.

The author's writing style makes for an easy, enjoyable read -- it's a no wonder why I keep re-reading her books.

4.5 stars.

I was given the box set, Darkness, by Nora Ash, for an honest review.

For those familiar with Nora Ash’s work, will know her genre is the coming together of human and the other worldly beings, like Demons. I became a fan of Noras work when I first read Branded. Darkness runs along a somewhat similar vain, but here we have another type of other worldly being, who long ago lost the ability to morph into their true self, and are forever trapped in their human form.

The protagonist is a chubby little blonde wanna be reporter blogger, Kathryn. This is one of the reasons I love Nora’s work, her heroines arn’t perfect runway models, there every day women. Kathryn places herself in a vulnerable position, trying to find the evidence to fit her theory; Who is behind the city’s crime rise?.

She comes in contact with the city’s beloved hero, Lighting, and the anti hero with the shady reputation, The Shade. They are known as Sups, short for super human. It doesn’t help that these two are mortal enemies, and have been for decades. All three lives become entangled. But for good or bad?

Nothing is as it seems, and people are not as they portray. Kathryns blog hinting at a criminal relationship between two prominent city figures brought her unwanted attention, her snooping made her a target. Who can she trust? Who can she turn to? Would anyone save her?

This was a fun read, intriguing in its own way, laced with mind blowing hot sex scenes. A great mind escape during social isolation. 4.5 stars.

Whoa! Where to even begin... Ok, erotic, superhero, PNR, MFM...

Our heroine is just a regular girl. She's a journalist/blogger. She's "fat" (so she keeps telling us). There are superheroes in this world - like The Boys kind of superheroes, not all of them are good.

We begin with our heroine being half "marked" by the "good-guy" super hero, kinda against her will, but it's just a bite, soooo? Then, she goes to investigate some shady sh*t and winds up almost gang raped when the "bad guy" superhero "saves" her, then F*CKS her hard against the wall with his *giant* superhero c*ck. Mostly against her will... in that she doesn't want to have sex with him but it's either him or the gang rape option, so she "consents"... I think we call that rape... He also marks her...

So now she's been "marked" by two supes, those two also HATE each other but they both want to f*ck her REALLL bad all the time and so begins the epic superhero hurts-so-good (because those glorious superhero c*cks are SO BIG) f*ck fest!

If this is your jam you're going to love this series. There's lots of sex. A bit of plot to hold it together... there's some bad shit going on in the city and they have to get to the bottom of it to save humankind.

3.5 (half point extra for the absurd superhero spicy bits)

Nothing is as it seems! Kathryn is brave. She is up for the good fight and ready to step to it. In her quest to gain status for her blog, she jumped into a world not everyone was privy to. She got good coverage of Lightening stopping a robbery. But, she exposed herself to the supernatural world. Lightening was the current hero, but he left the job half done in not claiming her fully or properly. The Shade came along and closed the deal. These two men were rivals and Kathryn was in the middle. They appeared to have opposite agendas while fighting their perspectives of the good fight. Appearances are deceiving and there are a lot of challenges, twist, turns, zigs and zags during the course of the challenges. Kathryn faces challenges in professionally gathering information and putting her emotions in a box until the job is done. Do the team suceed in defeating evil? Can they beat big evil? Can Kathryn keep the triad focused and strong? Good story! I received an ARC from Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This omnibus of four hard erotica superpower novellas combine for a reasonably price long novel written by the amazing Nora Ash. The writing is tight, with descriptive unique sex scenes, strong characters, plus the compelling story arc missing from most eroticas.

The sex arc showing the growth from two enemies in lust with the same woman to a true menage is potent. The superpower story going from a simple robbery to the final battle with the big bad hits many, many of the clique high points one needs in a superpower story - kidnapping, betrayal, intrepid reporters, and corrupt politicians. A balance between character building, sex, and plot is stuck with marvelous precision by the author.

I don't really like the males of the menage, though The Shade wiggles his way into my heart by the fourth book. And Ms. Ash's preference for dominating sex does show through.

I have reviewed the books separately. All of them rate high with none of the typical middle sag in a story.

I went into this series semi-blind. I actually didn't realize it was about superheros and not shifters so I wasn't sure what to expect. The whole story had a Gotham city undertone with the corruption, pollution and dark vibes. I was really worried that it was gonna turn out as a love triangle (which I absolutely hate cause I always end up feeling bad for at least one person) cause it seeemd to be heading that way but slowly settled into an mfm. Even after finishing it, I still have to say I'm more team Shade(batman) rather than team Lightening(flash). Lightening says some questionable things that we later find out he says out of fear of unknown feelings but that was a hard thing to come back from. I did enjoy the backstory of their fued and the suspense leading up to the bad guy but the h had so many tstl moments I almost didn't make it to the end of the book! The 3 stars are for purely entertainment value lol.

I hope we get more stories from this dark, sexy, superhero world

Kat's stubborn attitude and smart mouth get her a story of a lifetime--along with the sinterest of two dangerous, brutal, archenemy superheroes.

This is a futuristic metropolis where superheroes deal with crime instead of the cops. Corruption is everywhere, and the media avert their eyes. Kat stumbles onto a career-making story and trouble follows, along with dirty sexcapades with The Shade and Lightning.

This book is packed with seriously hot scenes, lots of action and funny dialog-particularly Katheryn's wry sense of humor. The characters grow all through the story without losing the qualities that made them so enticing in the first place. With such good world building, I really hope more books are planned.

had read all the books put together into one, which I think is better since some in the series are so short and it means no cliffhangers, so my review is for the 4 books as a whole.

Overall I enjoyed this series much more than I initially expected. The romance is on the darker side but it's not as dark as the blurb had me fearing. I found the concept of the supes, and how this version of the world functioned to be really interesting. There was definitely some gaps in terms of world building but nothing that felt overly important, just be prepared to go with the flow or fill in minor gaps yourself. I liked the characters, the story kept me riveted and the spicy parts were well written, steamy, and kinky at some points.

I really wish we could do half stars because I would comfortably rate this 4.5 stars instead of 4.

The Darkness Complete Series includes the four novellas in the Series (Into the Darkness, Hidden in Darkness, Shades of Darkness, and Fires in the Darkness). This is one of my favorite MFM urban fantasy erotica romance! This boxed set is a great value. The main characters are great! Kathryn is a strong, and sassy curvy woman. She is an amazing character! Lightning and The Shades, her two superhumans/antiheroes, are alpha, dominant, protective, handsome, and sexy. They are both wonderful characters. They share a sizzling hot chemistry! The world building is absolutely original and captivating. The storyline has it all: fast paced, twisted, fun, steamy, action packed, suspenseful, and intriguing. I enjoyed it, and I highly recommend it. I will definitively read this Series again.

Kathryn is a blogger. A huge opportunity comes to her in the form of a "superhero" stopping an armed robbery as she makes her daily coffee run. He's not exactly what she expected. The resulting article gets her the boost her blog needed, but it also gets her a lot more. She never expected her comments to draw a target on her neck. Now she's stuck between two supes. One is a "good guy" acting badly and the other is a "bad guy" acting goodly. Will she be able to get to the truth in all this mess?
Great story with a creative world and well developed characters. I love this series so far and can't wait to read the next one!
I received an ARC of this book and am leaving my honest opinion.

For every bit of light, there is darkness but she is what happens when they both fight and love for the same woman. One is the hero and the other is the darkness but they both want her. This is the story of when both men fight together win the same woman who becomes the love of both of their lives. This boxset gives you the story from beginning to end of the love and passions of two men and a single woman who brings peace between them.

I received an ARC for this review. Had a rough start trying to sort out the who’s who... who’s the good guy, and who’s the bad guy - Shade or Lightning? Who’s gonna get the gal, Kathryn?
I wasn’t too happy with the less than completely consensual earlier steamy sex scenes, but it’s a good reflection too about how the brain does kick in at times despite being carried away by hormones! It was difficult trying to merge the characters together, but it did blend by the second half of the book. Then it was a matter of eagerly devouring the rest of the book.

I read the series instead of the books separately because I seen that they are only a couple chapters. Although they are not huge books they are actually very action pact, and filled with hot sex. I really appreciated how the author didn’t throw in fillers to make the books longer. She got right to the point and only gave what was need to make an awesome and surprisingly DIFFERENT superhero/dragon book. The two lead males where sexual and possessive, and the main female was a well rounded chubby girl. I really enjoyed this fast past but never boring book!

This is my go to series when I need some feel good escapism ( which, let’s face it, we all could do with right now)! It’s original, warm, humorous with the perfect blend of action and romance. I think the heroine’s character will resonate with most women and her superhero love interests are just yummy! Read it, enjoy it, trust me - you’ll be glad you did!

I loved reading this book a second time. I'm also glad it has all the books in the series as one. Lighting, The Shade and their fierce soulmate didn't disappoint. Although the heroine's self-deprecation was kind of annoying and a little too much. Aside from this, I did like the book. As always, it is a pleasure reading books by Nora Ash.

This was a great story! Although it is presented as a collection of different books, it feels like a collection of serials. I don't think each "book" would do well on its own. However, having the whole thing together is PERFECT. There is action and adventure, angst and love, intrigue and suspense...everything a great story needs. The characters are complex and their personalities come across in their actions, thoughts, and dialogue. I cannot wait to read more stories by Nora Ash.

For me, “Darkness” hit the bullseye! This series was well-written, and was also hot and sexy, funny and witty, and full of mystery and intrigue. It was pleasantly surprising, to say the least. The plot was interesting and the characters developed well and grew on me. I actually didn’t want the series to end! Can’t wait to read more from this author!

So I loved these books when they were individual books, but now that I can go straight into the next makes my little heart so happy.
That being said, this story line has surprises that you don't see coming. These two alpha superheros (or villain in the case of The Shade) are domineering and so bossy, but they s3xy and oh so steamy. This book will definitely check you need for Nora Ash fix.

I love Nora Ash but man this series totally takes the cake and everything else. Characters are so loveable, even in their darkness. Just enough bad boy to tickle your senses but not completely depraved. Exactly what you want to see from Nora.

My only complaint... Why oh why are the FMC so dumb? Like really? Some of her choices are just.... But I understand why in the context of the story but seriously would like just one FMC to choose not to venture out knowing they are in danger.
