The trouble came to Zippy's family - his younger sister got sick. The little hare learned from his mother that medicine could only be taken from people. But what to do if hares are considered to be cowards? How to help a little hare? But Zippy decided to make a courageous step - to save his sister at all costs. Overcoming obstacles, the hare has not only proven that he can be brave but also showed true love for his closest ones. A good adventure story will be interesting for all readers of all ages.
I love to write stories for kids. I found myself in the children's world just some years ago, and it seemed like it is my calling. In November 2019 I self-published my first book "The Sunny Adventure", and four months later another one - "Zippy. The little rescuer". Most of my characters are animals but I try to breathe heroic feats into them. All my books are filled with moral things for kids and even for adults.
A big thank you to the author for providing me a copy of her book to review! This is a sweet children's story about Zippy, a wild hare, who learns to be brave. The illustrations add a colorful touch to the storyline and the characters are lovable (especially Snout). I would recommend this children's book to any animal-loving family!
Thank you to the author for providing with me a copy in exchange for an honest review.
This is a wonderful book about the wild hare Zippy who goes on an adventure to find medicine for his sick sister. Even though hares are known to be cowards, Zippy pushes himself to be brave so he can save his sister. On the way Zippy meets obstacles to overcome with the help of other kind animals.
𝐌𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬: It’s such a sweet book about Zippy who sets aside his own fear for his family. On his adventure Zippy learns about the importance of friendship, bravery and taking care of those you love.
The illustrations are amazing! It was a great way to be introduced to new characters and I loved seeing all those cute animals. 🥺
I can only imagine this book to be great for children and hopefully I will be able to show it to my niece.
I will start by thanking Ira Alice for sending me an ePub to read and review! This book had such adorable illustrations! Even though it is a children's book, it's enjoyable and I love the morals within it. Zippy is a courageous and determined hare that ventures into the frightening human world to find medicine for his poorly sister. It also features other cute animals that assist Zippy on his journey. There are some high level words which I think is great because whilst younger children are reading they can ask questions and learn new vocabulary.
"Zippy ran and ran, and when he saw the cherished apple tree, he almost cried out with joy, but immediately stopped himself."
Disclaimer: thank you to Ira Alice for sending me a copy of her book in exchange for an honest review.
After reading Ukrainian children's author Ira Alice's book The Sunny Adventure in 2019 I was excited to be sent another addition to Ira Alice's Animal World series. Along with delightful illustrations from Elena Teplova Zippy the Rescuer is another huge achievement. I was once again taken on a magical journey through the wonderful natural world, met an assortment of adorable characters and learned some lessons along the way.
Zippy is a hare who lives with his mother and sister Nicy in a forest under a viburnum bush near a lake. His sister is very sick and whilst his mother takes care of her Zippy is in charge of bringing home cabbages for the family for dinner. One day Zippy forgets to bring food home, and is told by his mother that his sister desperately needs medicine. His mother also informs poor Zippy that hares are known to be rather cowardly.
After learning about a human doctor who may have animal medicine for his sister Zippy sets off into the unknown despite his fear of humans. Along the way he meets a grasshopper named Jumper who warns him of the evils of humans but still points him in the right direction.
After a downpour Zippy meets a striped boar named Snout who helps him out of a puddle and carries him to the doctor's village. Before meeting a cat named Ginger who will help Zippy finally reach the doctor, the little hare will meet a couple of rather opinionated geese and a very angry dog.
Finally Ginger and a helpful sheep called Fleecy bring Zippy to a kindly animal doctor whose medicine will cure Nicy, but first he will have to figure out a way to get the medicine without speaking to a big scary human being.
In the end Zippy will learn all about being brave, the importance of family and how the world is filled with friends we have yet to meet.
Zippy is an adorable little hare. When his sister Nicy gets sick he tries to get medicine from the humans to help her get well. It’s a wonderful tale about bravery and overcoming obstacles. About taking care the ones you love, about family and friends. As a mom of three kids I love reading them stories with a beautiful message that will help them grow and learn and Zippy is one of those stories. I loved it and the kids loved it too (I had to translate it to them while I was reading but it was worth it). And my God the illustrations are so so adorable and gorgeous!
I received an ARC of this book for an honest review.
I am giving this book a hundred stars because my daughter had me reading it to her several times. It’s a story about a hare named Zippy and his journey on retrieving a medicine to save his sick sister. He was heroic for being a loving brother and was unselfish. The biggest take away per my daughter is that no one should be afraid when doing what is right. This is a good children’s book filled with many good lessons. Characters are all amazing, and writing is excellent. I highly recommend it!
There are many elements to the story that I enjoyed, such as the sweet characters and good motivation behind Zippy's bravery: love. Ira Alice packs the story full of wonderful vocabulary without it feeling forced throughout Zippy's many adventures. I absolutely adored the art work in this book, and wished there was more of it! One of my notes on the text is that I felt parts of it were repetitive. Although this text is a series of adventures, which does require some pattern/repetition in Zippy retelling his story, I wish some of it had been cut out/down. This is a longer children's book, so this would be wonderful in a few installments, or you can buckle in (grab a glass of water if you are reading it aloud) and share Zippy's quest with him! 🐰
A big thank you to the author for providing me with a copy of this book for an honest review .
4.5 ⭐️
This is a really cute children’s story about Zippy the little hare, who goes on a wild adventure to find medicine for his sick sister. Although he is very scared and not brave, he loves his sister so he goes out in search of the medicine, Along the way, he meets various new friends who help him navigate the scary new world . This is a story about family and friendship and being there for each other when in need.
There are only a handful of illustrations in the book but they are gorgeous
Zippy is a brave little hare. After been told he was a cowardly animal, Zippy decides, no he will be brave. He is brave and he will get the medicine for his sick sister. With the help of a few more animals Zippy faces his fears and goes out on his adventure to get the medicine.
Really sweet book about bravery and determination. You can do whatever you set your mind on!
Since the coronavirus situation isn’t improving and Macron just announced more time indoors, I wanted to read something that would take my mind of it, even for ten minutes. And guess what ? I received an adorable little message on Instagram, asking if I’d like to read this children’s book and review it on my blog. How could I say no ? That’s EXACTLY what I was looking for. And, best thing ever : it’s about a cute little bunny, named Zippy. And I read it during Easter. So yeah, perfect timing indeed !
« The cart creaked as if it had been cut to the heart »
At first, I was confused to see so much text. I really though that children’s books were filled with pictures and some sentences here and there, so when I opened the file I was like : « whut ? ». But it’s a really quick read (only 54 pages long) and the story is really interesting and well written. This is the kind of story that will make any kid love literature and reading. Most importantly, reading GOOD books. The kind of books that makes you question, and think, and love, and laugh, and cry, and fill you with too much love for fictional characters. THOSE books. So, Zippy. Well, it reminded me of a trailer I saw a long ago, for the movie « Peter Rabbit ». I didn’t see the movie in the end, but I did enjoy some of the jokes and landscapes. And Zippy reminded me of this trailer, with the whole « cabbage field » and the humanized rabbit thing. My heart truly broke when Zippy was told by his mom that he couldn’t find the medicine he needed for his sister because the « dangerous people » had it (it’s us by the way). I also laughed a bit when he said that when HE was sick, all his mom had to do what to gave him some carrot and he felt better. That cracked me up !
And then, the adventure started. Zippy, trying to make his sister feel better, meets Jumper the grasshopper on the way (can we just appreciate that the animal’s name ressemble their kind ? Like ZippY the bunnY, JumPER the grasshopPER…). It’s basically Zippy’s Jiminy Cricket. Then you have Snout the wild baby boar and he’s adorable. Then Ginger, the cat, who’s veeerryy fluffy, but also very cynical about everything. He’s like… The adult of the book. Always thinking everything is going to go sideways. And then Fleecy the sheep who’s just way to cute and adorable for my own sake. I hope the next book is about him because I love him way too much and he’s here for like two pages ! And in the end, like a Disney movie, everyone get his or her happy ending. I have to say, I think it would make a great Disney animated movie. The plot is simple, but filled with cute baby animals that totally could become moods at some point (the cynical cat, the scared little hare, the nonchalant sheep etc…) and there’s a great moral, teaching kids about the fact that being a « coward » isn’t really a thing because there always something or someone you’ll be taking a risk for.
« Cowardice can be overcome despite everything ! »
AND DID I TALK ABOUT THE DRAWINGS ? Of course, I did say there weren’t much of those. And it’s true. Mostly, there’s one every time a new character get introduced, just in case you don’t know which kind of animal the author is talking about (I have to say, I wasn’t sure what a wild boar was until I saw the drawing… Oups ?). So, the artist really did a fantastic job. All the animals look super cute, baby-like, with tiny smiles and great details and just make the whole story even better. I really regret that I had no children at home to read this story to, because I would have love to have a child’s feedback on it. But I spent a really nice time reading it, I couldn’t wait to talk about it afterwards and I couldn’t be happier that the author trusted me to review it. If you’re not sure what to read, READ IT.
Zippy and his adventure to help save uis sister was such an adorable story. Hares were known to be cowardly animals but Zippy knew he had to overcome many obstacles to be brave enough to help his sister as well as his mother.
Ira Alice wrote such a beautiful, positive story that would be a great read for to all children. Showing how Zippy persevered through so many obstacles , even when he was brought up to believe "we are of the cowardly kind of animals," his mother had told him. But Zippy fought through his cowardice and even met many new friends along the way, will help build confidence in young children.
"Cowardice can be overcome despite everything."
Along with the wonderful story by Ira Alice, the illustrations by Elena Teplova added to this story that I definitely would recommend to parents, and even elementary teachers to read or recommend to their students.
Zippy, is an inspirational story of a Hare. It is a short book for children about 50 pages written by Ira Alice. Zippy's sister is ill and he and her mother can do nothing to save her from that misery. They need help from the people but they are scared as according to his mother 'we are cowardly kind.' But Zippy is different, he chose to be brave and goes out in search of his sister's cure. In the journey he found many encouraging friends and also was able to overcome his fears. Will Zippy be able to bring the cure for his sister from the people? . This story certainly gives a moral for children that they don't have to fear for anything in life. They just have to be confident enough to face their fears in order achieve something. A book worth reading.
Thank you to Ira Alice for the ebook in exchange for my honest review.
My daughter and I really enjoyed reading this book together. I think this was perfect for a 10 year old! The illustrations were beautifully done.
Zippy The Little Rescuer, is a heartwarming story about a hare, named Zippy, who's sister, Nicy, is ill. He is on a mission to get her the medicine she needs to make her well again. Zippy is determined to show his mom he is not a coward. He thinks that by making this dangerous trip into a human village he can convince her. Along the way, Zippy makes a couple of friends and it is definitely an adventure he will not soon forget.
I loved the friendships that were forged during Zippy's journey and that Zippy loved his sister so much he was willing to put his own life at risk to seek out medicine for her. My daughter's favorite part of the story was definitely when Ginger the cat got Zippy out of the village, I can't say more than that. You will have to read it to find out!
I was gifted this beautiful story by the author about a tiny hare on a quest to save his sick sister. On his journey he learns to overcome his fear, with the help of some courageous friends.
For those looking for a fun, yet meaningful story for the babies....this is it. Also be sure to check out her other book The Sunny Adventure!! Trust me you'll fall in love with the stories as well as the cute little critters.
‘Zippy: The Little Rescuer’ is a delectable read for young ones. Ira’s first children's book- ‘The Sunny Adventure’ was a delightful story and ‘Zippy’ is equally wonderful. Ira spins children's stories with real artistry. ⭐Zippy is a little hare who has been told all his life, ‘that hares aren’t capable of bravery’. Will Zippy’s love for his sister, help him overcome his fear of the outer world or not? ⭐ There are interesting animal characters , that Zippy becomes friends with, while on his venture. You'll come across Fleecy, Ginger, Jumper and Snout. ⭐The book is a short and fun read. It is full of pretty Illustrations, that you sure cannot miss seeing. ⭐Do you love children's books, or are you a fan of the animal kingdom stories- grab yourself a copy of Zippy, it's worth the read.
Zippy was such a beautiful book 💕 I loved every second of it, even though I'm pretty sure I'm far from the intended public, lol. And the illustrations? They deserve ALL the stars on their own. An excellent book, sure to bring enjoyment to both littles and not so little ;)
I read this book with one of my students. He enjoyed the pictures and scrolled through the pages to find them!
This beautiful children's book has a theme of courage and overcoming obstacles. It also shows how teamwork and with the help of others, big things are possible.
I enjoyed all of the characters in the book as well as the style of writing. I would suggest this book with a little older readers- maybe ages 6-9- because of the length and wordiness.
This beautifully illustrated children's book is endearing and well written. Zippy is a brave little hare who goes on an adventure to find medicine for his sick sister. The journey will take the brave hare through obstacles where he makes new friends along the way. Will Zippy finds his way back home in time to give his sister the medicine? Read the story to see what happens. The message of courage and endurance is well received with young readers.
Children will love to read or be read this inspiring story of bravery and love for family. The story gives one the perspective of a hare who is scared of humans, but must try to overcome the fear. I know some adults who could use such a parable. Great book for number 2 in the series. Good luck with the rest of the series!
This week's pick is a cute little story of a bunny, Zippy The Little Rescuer. The story is adorable and talks about a little bunny who tries to save his sister by getting the medicine from a human doctor. It talks about responsibility, courage and bravery as he goes on his adventure alone and makes some amazing friends on the way. A wonderful book for the children to learn from!
Oh and a special mention to the sweetest illustrations, I mean just look at the cover !
Thank you to the author for giving me a copy! This books story is just the cutest, and the illustrations are so well done! My 7 year old really enjoyed this book as well 💚
A sweet children’s story about Zippy, the young hare. Zippy’s younger sister had become ill and needed medicine to help her.
During his adventure to find the needed medicine, Zippy overcame fear and accepted help from a variety of other animals along the way. Themes of helping others and cooperation ran throughout this story.
The beautiful illustrations added to the enjoyment of reading this sweet book.
This is a cute kids story about a little hare overcoming his fear of humans in order to retrieve medicine for his sick sister. He faces trials along the way and learns lessons from each one. He was such a loving big brother. My kids enjoyed it and I enjoyed reading it to them.
First off thank you to the author for sending me an e-copy of this in exchange for my review! I had originally planned to read this to my niece (who is 6) but I hardly got to see her, and didn’t want to keep putting it off. I try to get things read in a timely manner. (I’m not always successful, that’s for sure!) This book is a short read, maybe about 30 minutes more or less for us adults. Of course I had to read it over a two day period, having started it with 5 pages the first day and finishing the rest on the second. It’s about Zippy, a little hare, and his journey to rescue his little sister, Nicy, who is terribly sick. His mother tells him that hares are of the cowardly kind and because of that there’s nothing they can do except hope that Nicy gets better. The next morning Zippy sets out determined to get medicine from the people in a nearby village to make his sister better. Along the way Zippy meets a gaggle of characters that help him out. Jumper, the grasshopper, Snout, the wild boar, Ginger, the cat, and Fleecy, the lamb. Jumper points Zippy to the path, Snout takes him to the village, Ginger takes him to the doctor’s home, and Fleecy who helps him into the house. Zippy is successful in his journey, seizes the medicine, and races home to give it to his sister. Nicy begins to heal as soon as she takes the medicine, and his mom and her are extremely grateful. They even see him as their hero.
This book is very sweet and provides kids with a thoughtful idea of family. It’s recommended for kids around age 8, but I think you could read it to 5 and up. I will be sitting my niece down to read this to her, and when my nephew is old enough, him too. It definitely gives off warm and fuzzy vibes, which is what you want to see in a children’s book. Thank you so much for sharing this book with me, and I hope you continue to write books like this one.

Ira Alice has written a great adventure about a very brave little hare, Zippy. He is determined to find the human doctor who has the medicine that will cure his sister, Nicy.
Zippy makes friends along the way who encourage him, Jumper, the grasshopper, the little wild boar, Snout and a flock of geese. They tell him how to find the doctor. They warn him to be careful.
Finally, Zippy meets Ginger, the cat, and Fleecy, the sheep who help him get into the doctor’s office. They told him to play sick.
The doctor walks in!
What a frightening predicament Zippy is in?
Zippy, the Rescuer has many themes such as; family, love, friendship, courage, and bravery.
I enjoyed reading this adventure. The illustrations are beautiful.
Thank you to the author for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review .
Zippy is a little hare who's sister is ill and not getting better. The only way for her to heal would be to get medicine from humans, which seems impossible. But Zippy overcomes his fears, and goes on a grand adventure. He even makes friends along the way who all encourage and help him towards his goal. It's a beautiful children's book about courage, adventure, friendship, and helping one another. And the wonderful illustrations adds an even cuter and cozier aesthetic.
Thank you to Ira Alice for a copy of this book. Zippy the Little Rescuer is a story about a little bunny to braves the human village to get medicine for his sister. Zippy meets many animal friends along the way to help him with his mission. My favorite part of the story was the illustrations, they are fun and very pretty. The way the animals are drawn reminds me of Snow White, cute fluffy animals. I wish there were more illustrations to balance out the narrative. The book has a great message about bravery and meeting new friends and helping.
Cute story about a hare who has to dig deep and find d their courage. The story is great and the illustrations are wonderful. I'd suggest it's suitable for older readers - it's quite a long book for younger readers and the illustrations complement rather than tell the story
