A billionaire who wants a perfect wife...

At thirty-five, Marcus Carelli has it all: wealth, power, and the kind of looks that leave women breathless. A self-made billionaire, he heads one of the largest hedge funds on Wall Street and can take down major corporations with a single word. The only thing he’s missing? A wife who’d be as big of an achievement as the billions in his bank account.

A cat lady who needs a date…

Twenty-six-year-old bookstore clerk Emma Walsh has it on good authority that she’s a cat lady. She doesn’t necessarily agree with that assessment, but it’s hard to argue with the facts. Raggedy clothes covered with cat hair? Check. Last professional haircut? Over a year ago. Oh, and three cats in a tiny Brooklyn studio? Yep, she’s got those.

And yes, fine, she hasn’t had a date since… well, she can’t recall. But that part is fixable. Isn’t that what the dating sites are for?

A case of mistaken identity…

One high-end matchmaker, one dating app, one mix-up that changes everything... Opposites may attract, but can this last?

Delicious Zaires-Lite

I've said it before, but I will say it again here: Anna Zaires is one of my all-time favorite authors. She is on my auto-buy list and and I will read anything she puts out. So of course I was beyond excited when I saw that she was coming out with something new.

And I don't just mean a new book, I mean "new" in the sense that this is a definite departure from her normal fare. Meaning: NOT DARK. In fact, if you go into this expecting the typical AZ characters and storyline, you might be disappointed. Luckily, however, I had read the review of a trusted friend AND read and taken Ms. Zaires' "this is lighter than my usual" warning to heart...so I was ready for it.

And even though the story and scene here might be lighter, Zaires still brought her ace possessive Alpha male game like the boss she is...and I was SO here for it.

Marcus was delicious and I really liked Emma as well. I do have to say that I wasn't too thrilled about the cliffhanger ending - for some reason I erroneously thought this was a standalone - but, not gonna lie, I am excited at the prospect of getting more of these characters.

I just hope the wait isn't too long...

Also really looking forward to Yan's story...it was blurbed at the end of this book and, being that it takes place in the world of Julian/Lucas/Peter... I am hoping that means it promises to be deliciously dark.

This will serve as a review for the duet as a whole because to be honest this should have never been split into two books. The story is just not that long, complicated, interesting or unique to be spread over two separate books. Was it hot, occasionally fluffy but slightly unhinged? Sure. Do I feel it warranted two books? No. Right off the bat I’ll say that’s my main issue with it.

Except for a few very specific issues which I will mention shortly, this book was ok, good-ish even but not something I’d urge anyone to grab. There’s better things out there, move it along I’d say.

Anyway, now we get to the issues:

• Marcus was wayyyy too pushy and to be honest kinda crazy. He singlehandedly decided that she’s gonna be his, move in with him within a month, and marry him ASAP.. oh and have his babies the sooner the better. I find myself saying this once again in a review, but if he wasn’t a good looking billionaire he’d be a creepy stalker with a restraining order. Anyway, by the end I stopped caring because I was buying what he was selling, although my rational side was screaming at me to wake up.

• Every two sentences Marcus kept going on and on about how he was “getting excited” to the point of it being unhealthy. If you think I’m exaggerating, read the book and take a shot every time he thinks/says anything about that. (I belatedly realised it would have been a fun game) The girl couldn’t breath without making him hard - And NO, that was not an exaggeration. And YES it was hot to read their scenes - those scenes - but if I had to read one more time about how he couldn’t function- eat, work, sleep, breath - because he was constantly aroused by her, gahh - I would still read it but only because the follow up was steamy.

• Emma was ok but I just couldn’t see what spurred his infatuation with her. But I guess I don’t need a reason, attraction and lust is chemical and irrational so I’ll chalk it up to that. Now for the falling in love part- I just thought I needed more depth to both of them but specifically Emma, to understand what makes her so loveable?!

• Now, Emma again. She annoyed the heck out of me with her hang ups about money and her stubbornness to stick to her “morals” (when it comes to personal finances) because her mom was a loose, morally perverted user and sociopath. I mean, sure I can understand she needed to draw lines and make herself feel in charge of her life and therefore finances but she took it to an unhealthy level and it was exhausting and annoying to read.

To conclude, this was a decent book, nothing that I will remember or recommend but also not a complete waste of time. This is the biggest compliment I can muster right now.

Biggest book hangover of the year!

I loved Wall Street Titan so much I couldn't stop reading. One week after I finished, I’m still thinking about these characters. Marcus is the ultimate alpha billionaire and crazy cat lady Emma is the perfect counterpart to bring him to his knees. This book is smart, touching, and funny. I'm counting down the days for the conclusion. All the stars!!!

The billionaire and the bookish cat lady!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Narration: 🎧🎧🎧🎧🎧
Romance: 🖤💜🤎❤️
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📙📕📗📔
World building: 🌎🌏🌍🌎
Character development: 👱🏻‍♀️🧔🏻‍👩🏼‍🦰🧑🏼

The heroine: Emma - works in a bookstore and has three cats that she treats like children. She hasn’t dated for a while and her best friend talks her into signing up for a dating app. Emma gets a message from a guy named Mark who also has cats that he loves and agrees to meet him at a restaurant for a date.

The Hero(es): Marcus - a billionaire hedge fund owner who spends most of his life working on growing his business. He is thirty five and wants a wife that will fit into his life and lifestyle with ease so he consults with a matchmaker who works with wealthy clients. She sets him up with a beautiful high society woman named Emmaline.

The Story: I’m sure you can guess what happens when Emma meets Marcus at the restaurant. Neither is what the other expects and they immediately rub each other the wrong way. Though when Emma storms out, Marcus can’t stop thinking about the feisty redhead.

The story was good and the audiobook seemed to be over too fast. It doesn’t help that it ended in a cliffhanger, but I did enjoy the give and take between the down to earth Emma and the New York power broker. Marcus had a set of characteristics he is looking for in the perfect wife and Emma doesn’t fit so he is dumbfounded by the fact that he can’t get Emma out of his head.

Marcus becomes a bit of a stalker and after finding out nearly everything there is to know about Emma, he is determined to get her into bed thinking that once he does that, he can move on to Emmaline or someone like her.

Emma on the other hand, also is thinking and dreaming of Marcus but she has some hang ups after growing up with a mother that was a user and a gold digger. So the fact that Marcus is so wealthy is not something she wants at all. While her best friend keeps pushing her to go for it.

The narration was terrific. The book was dual POV and the narrators were Sebastian York and Ava Erickson. Sebastian has a deep gravelly voice that is perfect for a dirty talking Hero. Ava Erickson has a very pleasant voice which fit Emma to a T.

I voluntarily listened to & reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts & opinions are my own.

OMFG I LOVED this.... Okay so this is sort of a Cinderella story. The guy is a wall street billionaire tycoon. The girl is a "cat lady". She has a small apartment in Brooklyn, works in a bookstore, has 3 cats, doesn't really get out much though her best friend is urging her to date and sets her up with a dating app. She meets a guy on there who seems nice and likes cats... so they're going to meet.

Meanwhile, Marcus is looking for the perfect wife and going to a matchmaker to find this perfect polished "comfortable at posh social gatherings" kind of woman. And they set HIM up with someone.

Both Marcus and Emma are meeting their dates at the same place at the same time. Emma is meeting Mark. Marcus is meeting Emmaline, only there is a case of mistaken identity. The trouble is... Marcus knows what he wants in a woman or what he thinks he wants. And Emmaline is perfect. But Emma is the one who sets all his circuits on fire... and thus begins this hot billionaire's obsession with the poor girl who has no idea what's coming.

This book is PERFECTLY paced and structured and very very well written. One of her best!

This was an ARC and the book goes live November 19th, where I will obviously be pimping the hell out of it!

This book is cute and intense at the same time. I loved everything about this book. Marcus and Emma is a very interesting couple. I adored Emma, she is cute and adorable. I liked how she was caring for her cats. She was really a perfect cat lady. It was enjoyable to see how Emma and Marcus's relationship progress. I would have loved this book more if it didn't end with a cliffhanger. But I understand why the author did it. She just wanted to make a sequel, other than that I don't see any reason for the cliffhanger, it seemed forced.

There are many adorable moments in this book that made me laugh. I didn't expect this book to be cute. It was a good surprised and I enjoyed every bit of it.

Marcus and Emma... the chemistry between them should be illegal!

Emma decides to seek out a date through a dating app and Marcus consults a matchmaker. Emma hasn’t had a date in a looooong time and Marcus wants to find a suitable woman to be his wife and be fine with his super busy, billionaire lifestyle/work life. They both happen to be at the same restaurant for their dates but it doesn’t turn out to be the way they intended. Emma was going on a date with a guy named Mark and Marcus was going on a date with a woman named Emmaline (or something like that). Once they start talking, Emma thinks that this whole deal is a joke. I mean, in the dating profile of Mark, he loved cats and Marcus doesn’t care for them. So she leaves and forgets her phone. Marcus’s date shows up and they have a pleasant evening, but he can’t stop thinking about Emma and is determined to give her back her phone personally. When he does, the chemistry between them in undeniable and thick.

He gets her to agree to go on a date, they go to dinner, and he starts to kind of become obsessed with her. She’s also someone that doesn’t care for his money and continually insists on paying for her portion of the bill. When they finally kiss, oh man was it intense. Thus their relationship unfolds this way. He can’t stop thinking about her and vice versa. But, she is hesitant because he was looking for a wife in the other woman and Emma doesn’t think she’ll ever be good enough for him.

Oh the cliffhanger! I’m about to delve into book two! The intimate scenes between them... 🔥🔥🔥... the time when they woke up in her apartment 🔥🥵🥵🔥. I don’t know how my kindle is surviving after it. I love AZ books for this reason.

I read reviews about this being an unlikely story to ever happen in real life, but hey, I don’t care. I love to escape while I read. I can’t wait to see how their story concludes.

Oh my gosh! I was hooked on this book from the very beginning! Emma made Marcus work for every inch forward and the process was a tantalizing tease.

When Emma has to face the fact that she is indeed a cat lady, she decides to dip her toe into her dating app possibilities. But when her date ends up being a real jerk, she high tails it out of there PDQ. Things are not exactly as she first assumed, however, and despite the attraction she feels for her the man she mistakenly thought was her date, things can’t progress. He’s looking for a sophisticated wife and she’s everything but.

I connected with Emma on so many levels. She is your girl next door, your best friend, or your book buddy. I loved her conversations with her cats and the way she generally processed what was happening and worked them out in her head. She may not have always been right, but I could totally relate to her reasoning. The fact that she stuck to her main dating rule made me love her all the more. Mostly because it was one of the things that drew Marcus even further into her sphere. She was cute, bookish, a bit shy, and absolutely perfect for this hero.

’With that dimpled smile, the little redhead looks so … adorable I want to lick her like an ice cream cone.’

Marcus’ criteria in a wife was by far romantically ideal and I immediately knew he was going to be twisted up by what this author was offering instead. I loved that he had to chase Emma and he did so in such a way that I fell deeper and deeper in love with him. A “mine” mentality is not part of his makeup, but the more he gets to know Emma, the more that part of him emerges.

’It’s impossible to be suave and seductive with the vilent hunger beating at me, demanding that I take her, that I do whatever it takes to make her mine.
If these were more primitive times, I’d have already thrown her over my shoulder and carried her off to my cave.’

Animated GIF

This isn’t insta-anything, except perhaps attraction and I was completely engaged in how this couple went about developing a relationship. There is no deny the sizzling chemistry between them and while some might consider this a bit of a slow burn, it never felt that way to me. And once this couple come together, holy fireballs! Things are absolutely explosive! Whew! Talk about steam!

I loved every single thing about this story. The characters are each developed in such a way that I couldn’t help but cheer them on. The drama never heavy and the angst relatively light until the last part of the book. That’s when things take a decidedly anxious turn for both Emma and myself. I found myself keeping an eye on the percentage mark left in the book and them BAM! Gah! How did I not know this ended in a cliffhanger? And while I want so much more of Marcus and Emma…I’ve gotta wait for it!!! But no problem, I’ll just stalk the author until that time.

Cat ladies everywhere should never lose hope! This was such an unlikely pair and I loved it!

Marcus comes off a bit jerky in the beginning. He's a self earned billionaire with a hedge fund. He needs a wife in the same social class who will understand how much he works. He's looking at his future wife like he would a business partner. He just seemed so cold and judgey about what he was looking for in a woman.

Emma is a nice, sweet girl that has a bit of a chip on her shoulder due to the way her mom was when she was younger. She always seemed to aim low in every aspect of her life. She's gone after her career halfheartedly and barely makes enough to live on. She rescued three cats who seem to take up all of her spare time, and she dates men who could never threaten her safe existence.

To say the least, these two wouldn't normally even acknowledge the others existence. That's exactly what I loved so much about this book. The way Marcus is almost baffled by his obsession with Emma was fun to see unfold. The way Emma didn't fall all over Marcus was also fun. I love it when a heroine makes the hero work for it. I cannot wait until book 2. The way this ended has me very excited to see what is going to happen next. Loved it!

This is my first read by Miss Zaires. I have to say, I am not disappointed. She certainly knows how to create a very possessive alpha male like Marcus. Although there is that insta lust, but the courting between Marcus and Emma really works. It is sweet stalkish way. I can not help myself falling for Marcus.

Now for Emma, I understand her pessimistic toward Marcus. But I think her pessimistic is bit too much. Yes I know the author needs something to prolong the story into duet series. I still think if this book is stand alone its still work fine. The sex is not much but it still hot and steamy. There is not much of character development. Marcus character is consistent as possessive, demanding alpha male. While Emma is damsel in distress. Through out the story, the characters are consistent.

The story is simple enough. A mistaken identity during blind date and turns into romance. The moral story is: what you need versus what you want.

Overall this is a very enjoyable story

Original review

I did not realize this was 2 books thankfully I started this when book 2 is out. So damn good. Review later ish

Spoilers ahead

Marcus has clawed his way up from a childhood marred by poverty and an alcoholic mother to being a well respected wall street billionaire, he's now looking for a perfect wife to cap off his achievements. He goes to a matchmaker with his list and a date is set up for him.
Emma is a 26 year old part time editor/book store clerk who's struggling to make ends meet. After enduring a childhood with a mom who was a chronic user she's determined to make it on her own, when her best friend points out how Emma has turned into a cat lady she turns to a dating app and a date is set. She has her idea of her type of guy so she's excited to meet Mark

He's expecting the refined and polished Emmerline
She's expecting the cat loving nerd Mark
What they found was each other

**********
From the moment I heard Marcus' list of requirements for his woman when we know the h is the complete opposite I was rubbing my hands together in glee I just knew this was gonna be good!
Now I had some niggles like the H thinking Emmerline was the one he'd marry while he only wants Emma for sex and Emma's lack of confidence and her friend's advice which made the friend sound like a gold digger but you know what? I rolled with it and i wasn't disappointed!
This guy was obsessed with Emma and I loved it! The chemistry sexy times just upped my enjoyment that much more
I liked that Emma didn't give in easily and she had a backbone even with the fiery chemistry between them
The cats were hilarious, the mcs likeable and the steam off the charts so I'm a happy camper

No cheating
OW drama in the sense that in the beginning he still planned on the OW being the type of wife he needed. This wasn't even really a thing
Cliffhanger( I really didn't find book 2 necessary)

First of all I would like to thank Anna Zaires for this ARC, as always I’m so appreciative to receive it.

Now for my review. I had to think a lot before I wrote this as I love this author and nearly all of her books so it saddens me to say that this book did not qualify for that category.

I somehow didn’t connect to either characters not did I find it particularly funny at the expected scenes. I didn’t find the H alpha enough and in fact found him too contradictory and if I might say so slightly wimpish with his lack of proper decision making. As for the h I found I didn’t like the fact that she was aware the H was kind of seeing another woman who fit his proper ideals for being the perfect wife and yet after a slight step back she gave in to him again. As I reader I find that I need to have respect especially for my females leads, that means they need to have a worthy sense of self respect and love for themselves. In this case I felt h knew that she didn’t meet up to his expectation apart from their physical chemistry (which to be honest I didn’t quite feel either) but she was also aware the other woman was still an option for him but still let herself fall for him. I don’t know I just felt really let down by her that she didn’t stand her ground hard enough on that aspect. I didn’t feel like this was AZ’s book, the writing was just so similar to other generic books out there that I have read. Going into this I knew this was going to be different to her other dark books but I hadn’t realised how different in that I just would not have known this was her book if I hadn’t requested it.
I think overall other people I’m sure have and will love it but I don’t think this series is for me.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

I've read the author's books before, and this is a big departure from the dark tone I am used to in her work, but she's done it really well. Marcus and Emma - oh boy do they sizzle. The two for all their differences work together.

There were moments very early on where I did want to whack Marcus, but luckily the urge to do so passed quite quickly. His one possessive alpha male and I did enjoy him (even with the stalker-ish tendencies).

Tropes galore but I so enjoyed it. A fluffy and entertaining read. The cliff-hanger did have me thinking oh fuck until I realised book two - the conclusion to Marcus and Emma's story was out.

Angst is relatively light as is the drama.

Thank you to Alina for recommending this.

It was a shock when I reached the end of this book. I discovered it’s actually book 1 of 2. Not at all what I was expecting. But it’s my fault for not checking before I started reading.

This is a cute sweet read. I liked both Emma and Marcus. The financially challenged cat lady and the billionaire hedge fund manager.

It’s crazy how they meet but I went along for the ride and enjoyed it.

I will probably read the second book but at the moment I’m not feeling an overwhelming urge to do so.

This had tropes I generally love. The random encounter between the two MC's was so well done because I genuinely for a minute thought the matchmaker he hired tricked Emma into thinking Marcus is one way but in reality he wasn't but to find out they both were there to meet two other people who happen to have similar names was brilliantly done in my eyes.

You see Marcus hired a professional rich people matchmaker to find him the perfect wife since he is ready for that next step in his life.

Marcus, however, becomes OBSESSED with her from the moment he sees her. He cannot stop thinking about her, even during the dinner ''date'' he has with Emmeline (the perfect woman the matchmaker finds for him). He feels nothing despite saying that should be the perfect wife and partner, exactly what he is looking for her.

I loved Emma, I see some reviews saying her whole not allowing him to pay etc. was off putting but honestly, her reasons were valid and truly engraved within her because of her trauma with her mother and everything she went through. She is also a cat lady with her three cats so yeah bonus.

He starts off believing if he just sleeps with Emma, he will have her purges from his system in order to move on and start something with Emmeline. He just views Emma as a sexual obsession he needs to get and then leaves her.

WELLLLL MARCUS HOW WRONG YOU ARE!

His obsession with Emma only grows the more he spends time with her, even having sex with her doesn't lessen his need and he can’t stop wanting her. They have sex A LOT in those few days and once he has an emergency at work he runs off and spends three days ignoring her and trying to control his obsession and prove himself he can be in control with her but this leads to her believing he was done and no longer wants her.....I don't blame her because that is what is looks like so when he finally get his head out of his ass he chases after her and tells her the truth and tells her all that he wants to say along with asking her to move in with him (this is just so she is available for him to be around 24/7 and not because he is in love) while she realizes she actually loves him.

SHE REJECTS HIM. Yup, Emma grows a massive backbone and rejects HIM and his moving in offer and takes her flight to see her grandparents.

Of course, he is not done and follows her and that's how it ends.

She rejects him for obvious reasons that we had within this book:
1) He told her in the beginning he plans on marrying someone like Emmeline and lists off every attribute he wants and none of them apply to Emma
2) He is a billionaire, and she is not. He will be bored of her after he is done and tbh that was the vibe he gives off in the beginning to her.
3) She cannot stop imagining him leaving her for someone like Emmeline and wants to save herself the heartache before it occurs.

Some OW drama:
Like I mentioned in my review he has a date set up by a matchmaker with a woman named Emmeline, they only have dinner and nothing else ever happens. He plans on seeing her again to have dinner once more, but it never happens. Honestly, he does not think wants her at all and has no chemistry nor attraction to her despite saying she is beautiful. His mind and thoughts are only for Emma, nonstop, 24/7.

However, let’s be honest, he never tells Emmeline things will not be moving forward or cancels their next dinner, but I will chalk it up to him not even having her in his mind.

He is just falling in love with Emma and does not realize what is happening. He admits nobody else has ever affected him this way and there has never been anyone he has wanted this much.
Let's see how it will play out in the next and final book!

Also, more info on the other safety warning in regards to child neglect/abuse:
Both Marcus and Emma have had their mothers cause trauma within their lives.

- Marcus's mother was an alcoholic who never took care of him and had men parading in and out of their lives and went as far as sleeping with them while Marcus was around and could see.
- Emma's mother was a user, she used everyone for their money and even used her daughter as a prop. She was raised by her grandparents after her mother died but she bullied from what we are told by others while growing up and still cannot ever allow herself to be like her mother with ANYONE.

Remind me to never read books (except Darker than love) by this author because THEY ALL HAVE INSTA LUST 😭

• the whole mistaken-mixed date thing was actually good, and i was all for it because it was giving the business proposal but the fun went *poof* when Emma decided to leave Marcus alone because he said 'you're not what i expected'. 😒

• he became obsessed because REDHEADS ✋🏻✋🏻 and nvm he was nice. this book has a lot of cute scenes but I WAS BORED. And it has no reason to be a duet so i'm gonna skip that 🙂

I loved this book! Wall Street Titan was different from anything that I’ve read by Anna Zaires so far. It was not dark. It had no triggers and it was actually quite funny in some parts. It was pure escapism reading at it’s finest!

I loved this one a lot! I kept thinking that it needs to be made into a movie and Reese Witherspoon should be the h. It would be so awesome!! If you’re looking for a lighter j/p story with no triggers and some lol moments, look no further.

H - He came from a disadvantaged background and is a self made billionaire. He’s a tall, muscular, dirty talking (in the bedroom) alpha and can have any woman he wants. He’s used to the best and hires a matchmaker to find him his ideal wife. He’s also jealous/possessive but not like Anna’s typically intense, psycho j/p H’s. He’s more of a totally shocked, baffled that he is j/p, j/p H. It was very fun to read.
h - She’s short, curvy, works at a bookstore and has 3 cats. She’s the exact opposite of who the H pictures himself with. She quirky and not a doormat and she makes the H work to get her into his bed. I loved that!
Sex - Open door/steamy. Delayed until 57%.
First person POV with POV from H and h
Triggers - none!
OW - No ow drama. Ow is the woman the H was set up with by the matchmaker. Iirc, there’s only one scene with her actually in it in the book. (It’s when the H meets her.) Her presence is felt occasionally in the story but the H feels nothing for her.
** Cliffhanger **
I voluntarily read a complimentary copy of this book.

I'm pretty sure I knew this was half a story when I snagged it. Unfortunately, I had forgotten by the time I started listening to it. Or fortunately depending on how you see it because if I'd remembered, I'd have abandoned it. As it is, I got to the end and was relived that the author wasn't going to cram the impossible into a very short space after blowing the "relationship" up so thoroughly.

I spent this entire story waiting for Zaires to give me something to redeem Marcus. He starts off thinking of Emma as something to get out of his system. So his pursuit is with the intent to use and discard so he could move on to the kind of woman he really wants (Emma is definitely not that kind of woman). So not only is his motivation completely physical but he sees people as objects to use for his own gratification and that makes pretty much all his action come from a borderline evil place.

And he hasn't changed by the end of this part, either—she's still this obsession he can't get out of his head and the only change is that he is no longer pursuing her to get it out of his system. No, he's pursuing her "for as long as this obsession lasts". In other words, it's still all about him and what he wants and not even a little bit about her.

So he's a dead loss, but she doesn't make much sense, either. I mean, she's pretty level-headed and she's fairly well-grounded. So it's a total mystery to me how she can flee to her family (for a long weekend, but also to get some distance from him) thinking "I've fallen in love with him, I'd better go away so I can recover and keep him from hurting me more". The thing is, I'm wondering what she fell in love with. Yeah, the sex is good and she's attracted to him. But he's been a giant snot-weasel to her again and again and there's no care or kindness in him. Yeah, he gives her outrageous gifts but that's just because he has more money than sense and nothing else he's obsessing over at the moment. So she fell in love with his money?

Yeah, I won't be bothering with the second half of the story.

A note about Crude language: In addition to seeing Emma as something to use for his own gratification, he also views women in general in unflattering sexual terms and a couple conversations with his "friend" are bro enough to choke a frat house president. This crude relationship with sex also manifests when talking about, having, or thinking of sex. So take this tag very seriously.

A note about Steamy: I forget how many explicit sex scenes there were, but it was a lot given how short this is. So it's the high side of my steam tolerance, but didn't exceed it. It was all over-the-top, of course. Sex is, however, the one area where Marcus is human enough to consider that someone else might be affected by his actions. He's not sweet or kind or anything, but it's the one area he actually solicits Emma's input or shows any kind of care at all.

2.5 Mediocre stars

This was kind of unnecessarily long. Most scenes were boring and uneventful.

But, I’ll still read the 2nd part. Need to know what happens between Marcus and Emma even if this first book turned out to be a disappointment

Recensione in anteprima

I've been a huge fan of Anna Zaires' work for years. She is one of the authors who made me love dark romances. So when I heard she had a new project, I couldn't be more happy!

Wall Street Titan wasn't at all what I expected though. If you're looking for a dark romance, this is not the story you need. In the other hand, if you are in the mood for a sweet and fun read, you're going to have a great time with Marcus and Emma.

When a coincidence / misunderstanding puts a feisty cat lady and a hedge fund billionaire together, expect things to take an interesting turn.

I really enjoyed the lengths Marcus went to in order to seduce Emma, he truly is a swoon-worthy hero. Emma's innocence and fire cracked me up.

But all, unfortunately, I am sorry to say it wasn't enough for me. I needed the thrill the author usually shows in her storyline. I kept expecting the pace to pick up, I certainly wished for more spicy or edgy situations. Will the second installment bring more tension and passion between Marcus and Emma? To be followed...

I VOLUNTARILY REVIEWED AN ARC COPY OF THIS BOOK. THANK YOU!!!

[begin rant]
Dear authors who write duets/trilogies and don’t even give a hint that this is what the reader is getting into when they download your book, STOP.IT. It’s deceiving and you’re not going to win any points by doing it!
Thanks in advance,
Me
[end rant]

I’ve never read this author but she’s collaborating with a favorite of mine in the near future, so I thought I’d get ahead of it and try her work out. It didn’t disappoint, unless you count the above rant, which is HUGE. But I’m moving on. Promise. Maybe. GOD, I HATE IT WHEN THAT HAPPENS. Okay, I’m done now. Probably.

Our two leads were night and day but yet perfect pieces of a puzzle. I loved that! It made their story exciting and captivating and very very sexy :) I’d love to tell you more but their story hasn’t come full circle yet so …. Stay tuned.

Sidenote: I'm rating this book 4 stars but it should be 3.5 because, misinformation, but it doesn't deserve a 3 star rating so 4 it is. (this is why I hate rating books)

⭐️ one star -

I don’t know why I foolishly decided to try this book, since I absolutely loathed Zaires’ Twist Me series (I dnf’d the first book of that series, and could barely get a review out since I was so disgusted with it. My short rant for that book is here 👉 https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...).

For this book “Wall Street Titan”, I decided to give Zaires another try as she is a decent writer (apparently I just don’t like the material she comes up with, nor how she executes it, I guess 🤷‍♀️).

While there are a lot of four and five star reviews for this book, if you check out the reviews out of order, there’s a lot of one and two stars, too. I decided that since reviews are subjective, I would give this one a try since I was intrigued with the premise - slightly nerdy bookish heroine meets a hot alpha finance guy? Sign me up ✅

Unfortunately, it’s a combination of me not connecting with, or even liking the heroine here, and this is a DNF at about 25% - right after their first date. This h is a cardboard cutout; she’s a flat, one dimensional character - really, just a product of lazy writing. It’s a shame, because there was so much potential here, but the lack of depth with the fmc is what killed this story for me.

I had too many questions about her, and that just annoyed me. Mostly, she’s tstl and I didn’t see what was appealing about her for a random hot stranger (one who’s portrayed as uber successful, mind you) to be suddenly smitten with her. Made zero sense to me.

For example, I didn’t get why she didn’t have a better circle of friends when she’s been living in Brooklyn her entire life, yet she has only two girlfriends? Not even one that could even help her with her wardrobe for her first big date in who knows how long, when they would know she’s fashion-challenged. Especially when one of these besties works for a fashion designer? I just don’t get it. These aren’t friends that care about her imo.

All I kept picturing for her character was some frumpy, dumpy, frizzy-haired idiot who couldn’t put two and two together. How is that appealing? I don’t want to read about a h that’s too stupid to at least use a lint roll to remove cat hair. It made her come off as a dense moron. Have some pride in your person, gf! Don’t show up on a first date looking like you’re ready to head off to Walmart, that’s all I’m saying.

I actually wished I could’ve kept reading, cause I was really torn, but after pausing after their date when she doesn’t eat, and then insists on splitting the tab, which really, really annoyed me - he invited you out, dumb*ss!!, I was just done. I couldn’t stand her after that, and felt someone needed to slap some sense into her.

I have concluded that Zaires might not be the author for me. Maybe she’s for a younger audience? She does seem like a decent writer, it’s just the final execution that’s missing.

If this book had been a standalone instead of a two parter, and the h had been fleshed out more, this probably would have been a really good book, as the premise is right on the money in the romance genre. Maybe this author needs to find a new publisher that’s not pushing money-making series books out of her, and focus her efforts more on writing a solid romance, because the potential is absolutely there. Just my two cents 💁‍♀️

This one is a DNF, do not recommend, and I am disappointed that I hated it.

One barely there star.

4 ❤️❤️❤️❤️ 📚 💻 📈 💵 🌟🌟🌟🌟s❣️❣️❣️❣️

What a beautiful and enchanting romance read❣️❣️❣️
Marcus and Emma were an awesome couple, likable and very interesting, with an amazing chemistry. Their story had me hooked immediately, simple yet engaging and exciting!
Very well written and paced, dual pov, steamy and page turner.

A small note, the cover didn’t do justice to Marcus by far...

(My pov refers to both parts of the duet)

2.25 🌶️

Anna Zaires is a new to me author, and I absolutely adore finding new authors to add to my go-to list, and I also saw many GR friends reading this series in particular, so thought this was as good a time as any to give it a go myself.

Wall Street Titan is Book 1 in the same named contemporary romance series, and the review consensus from my GR friends has been mixed, so I did my best to go in with an open mind, expecting to go either way.

Turns out I did NOT go either way, I stayed smack dab in the middle at ambivalent.

The writing wasn't terrible, I would say it was average, but it did nothing to suck me in and not let go. I felt no obvious chemistry from the two mains, emotional or physical, leaving a lot to be desired in some of the more intimate scenes. Separately the MCs hardly worked either, either falling flat (MMC) or falling into cliche attributes (FMC).

I found myself thinking this was VERY similar to 50 Shades but without that BDSM/dom x sub style spice, and then what do you know, 5 pages later there's a 50 Shades reference...

So again, the writing wasn't bad, a little repetitive in dialogue at times, but there just wasn't enough pull to the story, characters, or their romance for me to have felt more than indifferent about the whole thing, and I most likely won't continue to the next book.

But I'd give Anna Zaires another shot - perhaps this was just right author, wrong book for me.

3 stars. This is a review for both books in this series… since at this point I don’t remember where this one ends and the next begins.

Tbh, I wasn’t expecting too much from these books. The first is available as a bonus borrows on hoopla right now, so I decided to give it a chance. I was actually expecting to be annoyed more than anything else, so that probably helped my enjoyment out a lot. I actually did end up mostly liking the story. The problem that I had with both of the books is how predictable the storyline was at times. I just feel like this same rich guy/poor girl story has been told 100 times before, so why do it again?

The heroine here was poor, but totally didn’t want the hero’s money (of course), was sooo different from the other girls, totally non-materialistic, you get the drift. She just went to total cringe-levels of denying his money. She would literally rather not eat all month than have him (THE BILLIONAIRE) pay for her portion of anything. What a moron. It doesn’t make her special, it makes her bad with money and an idiot. This is the part of the story that really frustrated me.

Otherwise, the heroine actually had a decent backbone, which is what ultimately saved these books. She didn’t take shit from the hero, and didn’t just brush red flags under the rug. I really did appreciate that. I love that this heroine wasn’t a total pushover, but she took it too far into dumb territory with the money issues.

Safety was good overall, but I did think the hero was an asshole at times. Hero initially met the heroine while he was supposed to be meeting OW for a first date. The heroine mistakes the hero for her date, and leaves because she feels like he lied on his dating profile. The hero stays at the restaurant and realizes the mistake when his actual date shows up. They have a short first date, but the hero isn’t really interested in her. There’s some OW drama throughout this series mostly because the hero thinks he wants this OW, and tells the heroine that someone like the OW is his ideal future partner. The hero immediately feels a stronger attraction to the heroine and no spark with this OW, so he plans to “get the heroine out of his system” and then pursue the OW later. Ick. That’s the part that really isn’t my jam. Anyways, the hero ends up never seeing the OW again, although he does talk to her a couple of times and does set up a future date, which is eventually cancelled. The hero isn’t a manwhore, the heroine isn’t a virgin but has only ever had two partners, both long before the story starts.

I finished this book a couple of days ago and I am still looking for the fence. Oh there it is let me sit on it for a while. Right I'm finished. So I'm going with 3.5 Stars as I am somewhere in that range but I'll round up.

I am so torn on this book I really find it hard to rate additionally also hard to review.
This is pretty much insta lust/love well for one of them at least. But let’s back up here a bit.

Emma Walsh is a bonafide cat lady and thanks to her friend Kendall she has finally had to face the truth of it. (I really didn’t like Kendall, she wasn’t really a friend to Emma IMO)

Well any way Emma uses her old dating app and sets up a date with someone who is right for her. I liked Emma although I found her to be somewhat naïve especially when it came to our Hero.

Marcus Carelli has it all wealth, power but he is missing one thing a trophy wife at 35 he has contacted a matchmaker it was like he was looking for a thoroughbred horse and not a wife.

Marcus is vulnerable in some ways but also an absolute douchecanoe, I didn’t know if I wanted to comfort him or throttle him I more for the latter to be honest. I can’t just believe some of things that he came out, Alpha or not I mean really? I know he is rich and all but doesn't he have any friends?

Nevertheless I can say that AZ knows how to write and she has created an enjoyable read and although I was peeved because you know this has a cliffhanger, I am very intrigued to see how it shall be continued.

Per me ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
