Marc Layton is the internationally bestselling horror author of The Haunting Of Bridge Manor, The Evergreen Motel and The Evil Inside. The only child of American expats, he grew up on a farm in northern Germany, went to boarding school in a remote part of Scandinavia and then returned to his familial roots for University in New Hampshire where he then settled. As an avid traveler, a voracious reader and a professional antiques dealer, Layton is never at a loss for inspiration and ever since he can remember he’s been consumed by the things that go bump in the night. Layton lives and works out of a cottage near the water in Portsmouth, NH and spends his free time hiking with his wife and trusty Australian Shepard Lily.
The third part of the book sheds some light on the ghosts. The background of the spectres was tragic but why the malevolence? This book was unnerving. Eagerly waiting for the next book from Marc Layton.
I picked this little gem in a promotion. Wow! I hadn't read any of the previous books but it didn't impact the story. Running from the murder she commited, she ends up at the motel. What appears to be a refuge is turning into a nightmare! Now I'm going to be reading the rest of the books! Well written, love the characters, and an intriguing story. Perfect read, before bedtime!
Aly is trying to get away from Kyl and in her attempt to run, wrecks her car. She can only think of going back to the Evergreen Hotel to use as a hideout. The cops are looking for her, and now so is a ghost of a female. Who is this ghost and why is she after Aly? You will have to read the book to find out. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Aly flees the police with Phil's help. Nancy is still there. Still haunting Aly but now she is beggin Aly for help. Why does she haunt Aly and why does she need Aly's help? Is something even more sinister going on? Can that even be possible? Part four please hurry. I can't stand the suspense. This is one scary series. Highly recommended.
Book #3 in the series continues to be as good as the first two books. Aly is now on the run after being chased by police suspected of murder. She is still seeing ghosts. Aly has to call Philip back for help and he starts to disclose some more of the puzzle. Will she ever be free again? Can't wait for the next part.
As with all of the books in this series, the story line and character work are terrific. The story has a smooth flow to it. Once started you can't stop until you finish the entire book. I'm looking forward to the next one.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This was a twisty, fast-paced, interesting read, that I found I did not want to put down! Layton keeps the third part of this story is fresh, original and exciting with characters that are realistic and likable and suspense that keeps your heart rate up.
*I received a complimentary ARC of this book in order to read and provide a voluntary, unbiased and honest review, should I choose to do so.
This is a brilliant read. Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believeable. Great suspense and found myself second guessing every thought I had continuousluy. Can't wait to read what the author brings out next. Recommend reading.
I guess I like being scared to death because I keep reading this series. The books are too short but I can't stop reading them. You have ghosts, possibly two, murder, maybe, and a bit of insanity that I swear is contagious. Great read!
This was a great book!! I got to know more about Phil's wife, Nancy. She is haunting the motel and don't know why because she just says help me to Aly! The ending is spooky! I couldn't put it down! I look forward to the next book in the series!!!
I think that these are the scariest books I've ever read!!
These stories get more scary with each book! Now after telling the owner all that hast have happened to her. Now she's being haunted by the owner's dead wife!
I'm still on my Marc Layton marathon and this section of The Evergreen Motel was really good. I am ready to start part 4. This is a fascinating book and I am enjoying it a lot. He's a good writer people, grab one of his books and see for yourself.
The story line is getting more intense and chilling! I love the way Marc brings you to a point of a ha! Then boom something more chilling happens. Great series great author!
Disappointed! Had adrenaline pumping from first 2 books, abruptly ended with Chased! My momentum to have to read next book gone! Couldn’t resist, reading Hopeless, book 4, have to know what happens to Phil and Aly.
Marc Layton, you have done it again with this third in a series of five, what's going on at the "Evergreen Motel". The police are out looking for her, she's seeing dead people all over the place, have no where to go,no money, now what? More events just keep happening and have no way to understand. Why is Phil's wife coming after me? Have enough going on with a dead ex boyfriend looking for me! Don't read at night.
