Map to Desire will entice and disturb your innermost erotic appetites. It will viciously twist and taunt your imagination. And it will tug and gnaw at your tethers for adventure. This anthology includes nine short stories from a diverse group of talented authors who span the globe, an introduction from Black Quill Editing and a closing poem from a young and upcoming writer. THIS IS AN EXTREME AND GRAPHIC NOVEL; you will not close this book unscathed.
Each story includes a map leading characters to their deepest desires, good or bad. Go on a gondola ride into the underworld to initiate a trade of life and death with the keeper of Hades. Survive a plane crash only to gear up for battle in the dense, dark forestry of the Smoky Mountains. Meet up with a jaded bank employee who harbors an obsession with death. Join a treasure hunt in an old, abandoned mine that holds an entity of fear known only in the most malevolent of nightmares. Work alongside two necromancers as they journey into a life of greed, lust, immortality, and sin. Venture into secret stone ruins to search for a true love that reveals its true, insidious self. Enter an apartment building with hidden peepholes into the residents’ lives and the wicked, sinister past of the building itself. Meet a priest as he realizes his baptismal rite and takes the unholiest of communions to bring mankind to its knees. Finally, an alien vampire inhabits the body of a handsome college student to feed off fleshy freshmen while he searches for his ideal mate; night school was never this terrifying.
All proceeds from this book will go to First Book to provide new books, learning materials, and other essentials to children in need.
Kay Oliver lives in the Wasatch Mountains of Utah with her husband and their house full of rescued shelter animals. When she’s not brewing a bloodcurdling tale she loves to cuddle up in her reading nook at home and get lost in tales of horror, suspense, and mystery.
I picked up Map of Desire, a haunting anthology, to read Rajeev Singh's latest story. This guy is a master of erotic horror (at least in my books) and it's always a pleasure diving into his stories. They are creepy, weird, haunting and everything you expect out of an erotic horror. In all the best ways, it's horrifying and disturbing.
Dead Women Tell Tales is extremely wicked. Our lead character, Leon, stumbles upon this brothel like place where dark secrets and passions hide. Suddenly he is given the choice to enter doors, and darkness consumes him. Sexual nightmares, dark and haunting past secrets and wild exploration occurs. All of these will leave you shivering, staring in awe at the page and had me completely struck with shock. Like normal, Rajeev has made one wildly epic erotic horror.
I keep saying again and again that to me Rajeev is this king of erotic horror. He always blows me away with his writing. It's descriptive, oddly addicting and pulls the reader in. If you haven't picked up erotic horror before, this author is one guy you should check out. I'm always just amazed at his work. It's wild. This story was no different! It's much shorter than some of his other works, like The Erotic Muse, but it still packs quite the punch.
Four out of five stars.
Thank you to Rajeev Singh for supplying me a free copy of this anthology in exchange of an honest review.
I didn't read all the stories in this but I did consume Dead Women Tell Tales written by Rajeev Singh.
Like his first book, The Erotic Muse, the writing skills Singh has displayed is exemplary, his prose and word choices so spectularly beautiful that it leaves little to the imagination.
As for Singh's own imagination, all I can say is it is out of this world, pun intended (read his story to find the association). Some events that occur behind certain doors in the story was a mind-blower, making me squirm and shift uneasily. He is not afraid to get deep and gory, and it shows readily in his work.
Rajeev Singh is a raising star in the world of readership. I hope to see more from him in the near future!
Well-written, well-edited, engaging and riveting; this collection of short stories is so diverse, creative and unique. The striking talents and styles of each author shine in their individual stories. There is not a weak story among them. Each one yanks emotion, submerges in fear and truly tangles readers in the white ribbons of seduction as well as the black ropes of repulsion. Gold stars all around!
