Dramatic and thrilling. I loved it!

It's a romance with riveting suspense, danger and drama with a twist and this together makes a very interesting, well written story. I couldn't put it down. The actions are pulse pounding and the cases are complicated. Jordan has made mistakes in her previous relationship and is afraid to move too fast but their love is growing stronger and stronger. Their connection is solid. Both main characters have been to hell and back and with everything at stake, they are determined to keep each other safe. They must follow their gut instincts to do so. I truly enjoyed watching Jordan and Ellie put the pieces of the puzzles together. Both are compelling, intriguing, charming characters and have captured my heart. Again an excellent storyline and the only down size is that I've to wait for another installment. At least, I hope very much that there will be a 4th part.

Such a thrill!

Jordan is searching for Ellie after she disappeared suddenly, and it is a race against time. Whilst Jordan is busy heading up the search, Ellie is braving her circumstances and trying to negotiate her way out of it. Ellie has no idea what is going on, but if she can find out from her mysterious kidnapper, perhaps she can get away rather than being the next tragic casualty of the Police Department.

This was an exciting instalment in the Carpenter and Harding series, where Ellie and Jordan had a chance to shine in their own right. With Jordan going out of her mind, and dealing with personal issues concerning her birth mother and trying to piece together connection to Ellie’s disappearance with potential known suspects. However, Ellie is being heroic and clever in piecing things together and trying to understand why she has ended up the victim of a kidnapping.

I loved how thrilling this was. Putting the pieces together and trying to work out how they all fitted both with Ellie, and with Jordan. Each were uncovering different elements that we needed to work out how they might be connected, or if they were even relevant. It was a lot of fun, and also very intense at times, especially when we were with Ellie. She had to be admired given how she acted in the circumstances, and I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see what fate had in store for her.

The whole story is filled with uncertainty, mystery and twists that just kept me hooked. I couldn’t stop reading, desperate to know if this case was going to go well for Jordan and Ellie, or if it would end in tragedy. It was touch and go at some moments for Ellie that made me hold my breath and hope for the best for her. I spent most of the story with my fingers crossed that Jordan would figure everything out and rescue Ellie, but we all know she is no damsel in destress, and I was in awe of how she actually ended up defending herself.

I really enjoyed this, and the intense thrill that came with the adventure. I now look forward to reading more in this series.

Finally...

I was so happy to see that Jordan and Ellie finally put all the pieces together slowly. Lol and the bad guy was right there the whole time. I can't wait to see what happens next. I definitely recommend this book.

I wish there had been a good description of the characters, I like it when author do this so I get a good picture of them in my head and you don´t have that here. The side characters are there but don´t play much of a role. It gets a little tiring that all the bad things happens to one of these two and it´s like they turn in cicles with certain topics.
It´s still a good read and I would like to see how the relationship between these two goes but this series could have been more.

Kate has been facing a rough time being in a new relationship after the death of her fiancé.

Bethany seems to be an ongoing thorn, even when trying to be helpful

Jordan manages to develop new fears, even when she is not the current victim

Harding could consider more closely the possibilities with Jordan, but this would still be a bumpy ride, as the precinct searches for a possible traitor in their midst - whom can they trust and rely on?

suspense and psychological thriller read

Great mystery/suspense series

So far, I've really enjoyed Ellie and Jordan's story. I don't expect to be disappointed with the rest of the series, either. One of them always manages to find themselves in some sort of trouble related to a case, as they slowly, but steadily try to navigate their complicated relationship.

Want a Be Cop

Jordan and Elle are scheduled to leave for their vacation in Costa Rico when Elle is abducted. Life just keeps throwing obstacles in their way. A great detective series with drama and romance. Love the series.

Talk about bad guy delusions

Poor Ellie getting kidnapped this time. She did great with her own rescue though. Jordan' family dramas are still interfering in their lives. Hopefully they can get it together in the next book.

More suspense, family drama, and even more insight into the history of Jordan's childhood. Winkes has a true talent for creating scenarios with complex twists. The relationship between Carpenter and Harding grows, despite their inner struggles with their past traumatic experiences. Each book in the series just grows deeper.

Okay, exhilarating!

I loved that Ellie was able to so what she did up to 30% without needing people. Actually how she took the reins during the whole book and didn't accept people's dismissal. She's not a damsel in distress. She's a damn copper like everyone else.

Which makes me still have a case of acute FRUSTRATION with everyone dismissing what she says, the blue bloods weren't supposed to be almost blindly trusting to their fellow coppers? And not brushing off and blatantly rebutting what she's saying.

Sorry the rant, this detail really triggered me haha. Other than that, the investigation bit was really good, I mean, the cops sometimes are quite dense but I like that they do things slower than sometimes we can see in books, not a know-it-all lot. (which is fun too, but I like me some variety).

Finally, after the whole ordeal their relationship seems to really be going somewhere. Even if at snails pace. Progress, folks!

Definitely still enjoying this series about two very strong women who happen to be cops! This book starts where #2 leaves off. Ellie has been abducted. I'm hoping as the series goes on there will be less of the "woman in danger" theme. But this is definitely an engaging series and I'm invested in finding out how life treats Carpenter and Harding. The relationship between the women is treated equally with the police work.

Another awesome chapter in the Carpenter/Harding series! Still trying to figure out the text mystery. I'm not going to disclose spoilers but, the weaving of this segment of the series is masterful! I'm enjoying this series and am on to #4. Barbara Winkes is a story master!
