Enjoyable series. Elli now works on her first case as a detective, she's partnered with one of the older detectives who will be retired in a few weeks but it's not an easy task to work with him. It's nice to see how Elli grows in her new role as a detective. Winkes grows too with every book in this series. The criminal cases are interesting, captivating and convincingly. Also, the characters getting more depth with each book, even though there are some repetitions of events or thoughts from the books before.
I binge read the series and loved every one of them. The characters are complicated and multi-layered. I enjoyed the stories along with the evolution of the characters. Each book has a nice mysterious and a fair amount of action woven into well-developed characters that the reader becomes invested in. I won't give any spoilers, but it appears as though the series is not done because Ms. Winkes leaves you with a teaser at the end to set you up for another story. I can't wait! I highly recommend the entire series and am looking forward to more.
More action than some action novels with women loving women as the main characters. I can hardly wait to pick up the next book in this wonderful series, especially considering the cliffhanger this one ended on! Put this series on your must read list!
Wow! Another good Jordan & Ellie installment! I wanted to read this one slowly, just so the wait for #8 wouldn't take so long, but once I started it I couldn't put it down! Thanks for continuing their story! Each addition just gets better & better! And wow, the teaser at the end, I know I won't be able to wait for 8!!!!!
A little less than what I was hoping for. It was okay.
There were some twists and turns along the way to the final scenes, but there were parts when I didn't follow the detective parts and settled for the romance scenes between Ellie and Jordan. I don't know, it got my attention at the beginning, but then I started losing interest in the case itself. Ellie and Jordan getting ready for marriage is what saved this one from being less than 3 stars.
as Carpenter and Harding prepare to head down the aisle, they face bigotry and prejudices on many fronts, as well as a slew of chosen family support
connections to Ellie's parents, a new start as a detective alongside a hopelessly grumpy and barely toeing the line soon to be retired Detective Waters, and a host of personal and professional challenges with these new beginnings make for compelling and exciting suspense and drama packed reading
I really enjoyed the series. I like how much Ellie has grown into her role as a detective and I like that Jordan has taken a step back and allowed Ellie to come into her own. I really thought the different cases in this book were quite interesting and I liked how it all overlaps.
I thought this was a great addition to the series and the first where Ellie is a Detective and gets her first major case. There the wedding to plan as well. Looking forward to the next book in the series. I would recommend this book to others, but start with book one.
Detective Harding gets a partner, and solves her first cases
Ellie and Jordan prepare for their wedding while solving cases that end up being tied to each other. An old friend returns, an older family friend is found, and there's a surprise ending to hook us for the next book in the series.
Jordan and Ellie are in the midst of wedding planning and Ellie’s start as a detective. When homeless people are being beaten and murdered the police step up. Then someone burns down the homeless shelter. Hopefully they can wrap up the cases before the wedding. Great series.
okay, so this one, from the very beginning I knew would be exasperating. But boy, was I wrong, enraging, infuriating were better words to describe feelings there were felt. I'm really fed up with Jordan's mum, OMG
One thing I keep thinking over and over about this is how Winkes didn't fall for that hero-damsel with the MCs, both are badasses with flaws and weakness and we see it.
I haven't much else to say, except it was really enjoyable and I'm glad things are looking promising to our duo.
Winkes seems to just get better with her story plots. I like that her characters have their flaws, doubts, and strengths. There are some characters I still have my own doubts about and where they place their loyalty is in question. It provides for future drama in the department, as well as in their personal lives. Take your time to read Infatuations and don’t miss out reading between the lines. Oh yeah…Winkes leaves us with another twist in the future for one of the main characters, just in case you think everything gets tied up nice and neat. Check it out for yourself.
