Leaving her small town behind, Bethany Casse moves to Chicago in search of a new life. Working at a top financial bank brings her into contact with two men who are as different as night and day.
Kent Plack, heir to Plack Industries, has no interest in being with a woman for longer than one night. A spoiled and lazy man-whore, he is completely content with his playboy lifestyle, and Beth is surprised when they form an unlikely friendship.
Brian Burcham, a finance banker, is gorgeous and respectful. A man plucked from Beth’s dreams, he is definite husband material. Unfortunately, Beth has a hard rule against dating coworkers, but Brian is determined to change her mind.
When a deadbeat mother and money problems follow her to Chicago, Beth is offered a solution that could fix everything. Marrying for money seems simple enough, but when lines become blurred, Beth faces difficult choices, making her realize that the easy way out just made her life even harder than before.
Mia Kayla is a USA Today Bestselling romance author of hunky heroes and sassy heroines that always get their happily forever afters.
On the weekdays, she can be caught wearing a suit, commuting to her corporate job in downtown Chicago and raising three beautiful munchkins in the suburbs, four if you count the husband. Most of the time, she can be caught on the train with her nose in a book sporting a cheeky grin because the main characters finally get their happily-ever-after at the end.
She loves reading about happy endings but has more fun writing them.

This wasn't what I expected at all! I've been having a bid of a reading slump lately and stumbled across this... I mean who would say no to a free Kindle book? Not me!
I really really enjoyed it!
You get humour, friendship, romances and the cutest parents you could want in a book!
My heart broke, and I felt for Beth.
This is 100% a guilty pleasure book, and I honestly don't care because I enjoyed it so much :)
Mia Kayla’s debut book is a modern day marriage of convenience themed story that is delightfully captivating and fun to read. A small warning to readers who aren’t fond of love triangles – because there’s one attached hereto. However, early on you’ll most likely see that destiny has already plotted the results without the addition of a “bad guy” to the triangle or the scandal of cheating. Life seems to work itself out the way it's supposed to in a natural flow.
Kent, Beth and Brian all captured my heart from the beginning. Each brings something a little different into the dynamics of the triangular friendship. Both Kent and Beth are faced with personal problems that require quick fixes. A marriage in name only proposal is made by Kent, who has never worked a day in his life and is a wealthy playboy, so he can fulfill the conditions of the trust his grandfather set up for him to receive when he turns twenty-five. Beth faces financial doom. A family situation has put her credit at risk and she is working hard to pay off debts that don’t belong even to her while keeping the bill collectors at bay. She’s barely living pay check to pay check. Will Beth accept his offer of marriage in exchange for the money she so desperately needs. Just a simple contract between them with no emotional commitments – everyone plays by the rules and gets what they need. What could go wrong? And then there’s Brian, Beth’s co-worker and perfect boyfriend material who just wants a chance at love. They have just started dating and he’s everything she pictures as “the one.” How will he handle Beth's explanation? This irresistible tale is a mixture of laughter, tenderness, and plenty of sizzle. Although the original plot is nothing new, this author provides a new and refreshingly unique undercurrent.
“Marry Me for Money” is a superb choice for readers looking for a healthy dose of sexy romance in a well-written contemporary romance with a highly satisfactory happily-ever-after.
(In exchange for an unbiased and honest review, an ARC was kindly provided by the author.)
Friendship turned to lovers at its best! And get ready to fall in love and cry ugly for heart-wrenching scenes from Kent and Beth's love story.
Mia Kayla did it again. I had to hld off some of the new release just to read Kayla's old books cause I cannot put them down. I just got hooked up. Marry Me for Money is one hell of a ride. Love is developed over time and the foundation is being able to share things, being able to console each other when things get really tight, being each other's best friends. When I first met Kent I really though he will be the douche guy who will run over Beth due to him charms and killer dimples. But boy was I very wrong. I watched their friendship grow, how they were there for each other and how they knew each other's secrets. It really hurts me when Beth cannot see clear as day when Kent felt something for her, the indications were there when they were at the Brian's birthday, Kent was really in deep denial. I also feel bad for Brian, he was the fall guy, he had the right to feel bad because I've been there. All I can say is this book was the truth in some of the daily life people face, the reality to some and the story of their love life for others. The way it was written was very detailed and heart felt, did I mention I cried for like 6 or more times while I was reading Kent's confession to Beth? So if you want to have a break with typical stories, this is one of a kind for me. I highly recommend you try. Five dazzling stars for this baby!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I received a copy of this book in exchange for a honest review
This book was BLOODY BRILLIANT! Can I just give it unlimited stars! 5 doesn't seem to suffice, I never use this saying but I find it appropriate now "Oh my gosh the Feels".
I think I experienced every emotion while reading this wonderful story, I laughed throughout, got mad when the characters didn't realize or own up to their true feelings and I cried happy tears during the heartwarming moments!
This book was utterly perfect and I so badly didn't want it to end. This is the best love story, and I honestly think someone should look into option it for a movie! I'd love to see Beth/Kent/Brian's love story on the big screen!
One of my favorite quotes: "Oh. My. God. Granny Panties!" I laughed till I cried!!!
A big thanks to the author, Mia Kayla, for allowing me to read and review her book, I'd truly be missing out on a wonderful experience if I had not read this book! I can't wait for more books from this Author and more on this story!
Eeek! This was such a sweet romance! The author had me on pins and needles until the very end! It's a friends to lovers story with a twist! I really enjoyed Mia's writing and there were a couple of twists in there that I did NOT see coming which kept things interesting. I can't say much more without giving storyline away but suffice to say that it is a definite must read for anyone that wants a fun, romantic story!!
A complete surprise by this debut novel! It was a sweet, romantic, feel good read. Although somewhat predictable, I really enjoyed the book nonetheless! An easy 5 stars! Whoop whoop!
I absolutely adored this book! I loved the friendship between Beth and Kent. This book had friendship, love, some suspense, a little steam, and a really good plot and storyline. I could not put this book down! I love the relationship development between the main characters - it wasn't an insta-love type of thing and was really sweet how they fell in love. I love this so much I will read it again - it was that good! Highly recommend!!!
**ARC kindly provided by author in exchange for an honest review**
I thought I’d like this cus pretty much the only reason I would marry a man is for money, but sadly I didn’t even get to that part.
MC was basic af and LOVED to iterate how she’s “not like other girls” and “doesn’t give it up on the first date” and in general she seemed really immature. I know this is a new adult romance but gah she was so annoying that I couldn’t take it.
Also I found MC and her love interest and her future love interest’s (the one she ends up marrying for money) job at a bank BORING af and didn’t care about her being from a small town.
I was interested in her drama with her mom, but not enough to barrel on with this book, which was not my thing overall.
Before I get to my review, I have a question: Whatever happened with her job??????????? This is a HUGE HOLE in the story, and it's pretty irritating. So much of the story is about being driven and ambitious, not just a slacker - and then suddenly it doesn't matter what she does because she has a HEA with a man????
So this was really two books. The first half was fun watching the two MCs become friends without (almost) any sexual tension. Congrats! I enjoyed as book where the heroine believes she genuinely doesn't want the hero. Where the H and h have a honest friendship. If you're squeamish, you don't want to read this because while they're just friends, the H does get it on with OW. He is a man-ho after all.
I was wondering how the author would move the relationship from just friends to a romance. I knew about the marriage of convenience - that's in the blurb - but I wondered how she could keep the humor and the light-heartedness. The answer was: she couldn't.
The second half was very different. The h becomes selfish and just wrong. She is not totally irredeemable because she does feel guilty, and she realizes that she's being a jerk. There are also some funny moments in this part of the book, but they feel forced and unnatural. Another problem - in addition to the h's job issue - is that the H's maturing and changing feelings, while hinted at, is not really developed. This makes the quick ending of the book a little unsatisfactory. You never find out for sure when he stopped fooling around with OW.
Also, one part that is supposed to be touching falls flat.
Also, what is up with Luke. . I don't like plot devices that don't have satisfactory resolutions.
So these feel like this was two separate books forcibly joined together. I enjoyed the first half, but had a hard time making it through the second. Part of the problem is that too much of the book passes before the H and h even work on a relationship. And then it's over. The author mentions that there will be a sequel. I feel like the unsatisfactory ending of this book was just to allow room to tell a story in a sequel that should have been included in this book. I give it a 3, but it doesn't make my list of re-reads or recommended books.
Aşırı klişe dolu, gerçeklikten uzak bir kitaptı. Nedense 1 vermeye elim gitmedi.
I got an ARC from the author for an honest review.
Marry me for money is about Beth, a girl abandoned by her mother and left her with a lot of debts under her name, Kent, son of multimillionaire that doesn't do anything in his life, and Brian, Mr. perfect and a coworker of Beth. Beth and Kent became bestfriends while Beth is adjusting to her new life in Chicago. She doesn't want any relationships with a coworker, but because Brian is a living example of perfection, she just can't resist. Beth started to think that her life has finally fallen in places, but still her past has a hold of her. Offered an easy way out, she took it, but then her life started to get even harder.
I have read some books with the same concept - marrying for a cause. But those books, shows love-hate relationship between the two leads. They were faking the marriage as well as their being close to each other. But not Beth and Kent. They started off as bestfriends and somehow the friend-line starts to blur along the way. It's a nice concept that you don't feel too much hatred. I loved that it was light to read and still you can't get enough of it. I was just so curious as to how things will be, so I just can't put it down. As to my favorite character, definitely its Kent. He's a womanizer, but knows how to be caring, knows how to listen and smart. I love how they started off as friends to something more. I'm used to love-hate relationship so this one was refreshing.
Marry me for money is recommended to those who wants to take a break with bad guys, alpha male and heavy reads but still wants the happily ever after.
I had no idea what to expect before reading Marry Me For Money as I read no reviews before jumping in. I was pleasantly surprised. It is a flawlessly written cute and witty romance with enough steam, humor, and action to keep it interesting till the end. (Don't expect a lot of unnecessary graphic sex...there is just enough where it makes sense further into the book.) The author did a superb job of developing wonderful characters. Beth, Kent, and Brian, the main three, were all captivating as were the side characters, who provided some comic relief and drama. Although the "married for convenience" plot has been done before, this story was so well told that it was refreshing, fun and hard to put down. It's a great debut book from Mia Kayla!
Beth's life is going pretty good. She got offered a job right out of college at one of Chicago's top financial bank, which is pretty much all she's ever wanted. Leaving her small town in her rearview mirror, Chicago is her future. Things haven't always been so great for her though. She was raised by her nana, after her mom left town. The only thing her mom ever gave Beth, was debt, lots and lots of debt. Using her daughter's name for credit cards etc. without her consent. Which is why Beth is so lucky to be in Chicago, her mom can not find her there.
One of the bank's clients is Pack Industries and that is how Beth meets Kent. She can admit he is gorgeous, there is no denying that, but he is also a player. Which isn't the thing that turns her off, the fact that does nothing all day and is actually proud of, is. He won't deny that she is attractive, though definitely not the kind of girl he goes for. Somehow they form the most unlikely friendship ever. The only way she is tolerating some of his behaviour is because of the fact that they are just friends and he can do with his life whatever he wants.
Meanwhile back at her office there is a guy that definitely draws and holds her attention. Brian is everything she ever wanted in a future husband. He is smart, ambitious, sweet and a pretty good kisser. At first she is a bit reluctant, since he is a coworker and she has a rule of not dating people you work with. Luckily Brian can wear her down and gets her to agree to go out with him.
All goes pretty well, until Kent has a bit of a situation going where he needs a wife. That is how the whole pact goes down. He needs help and he's her friend, plus he's willing to pay all her debt. Beth will have to choose and things start to go messy.
All the characters were brilliant. Kent was the perfect egoistical rich player and Beth is a strong confident often funny heroine. There might be a little love triangle going on, though it didn't bother me at all, because everything was so light between Kent and Beth most of the time. I always love it when there is no instant love going on. They are friends, helping each other out and they never expected there to be anything more than that. Though the chemistry between them and I do not mean this sexually, was amazing. The bantering between them was so refreshing.
The ending was no surprise and it isn't the first time I read a book where some rich guy offers a poor girl money to pretend being his wife/girlfriend. Though this went a little different. First of all she is already seeing someone and therefore complicating the whole situation even more. Also the 'rich' guy and 'poor' girl are friends, which usually isn't the case and there are not constantly sparks flying around. It was so refreshing to read. Mia Kayla took something known and gave it a very unique twist. I simply loved it.
*I received a copy from the author in exchange for an honest review*
I received this ebook as an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I'm not going to write a plot summarization for this novel, instead I'd like to write about the about the writing itself and the elements of the plot that I found most enjoyable. The basic plot is not original, it is exactly as the title suggested, a marriage of convenience turned true love story. At first, I had a hard time enjoying the story. The author used far too many cliched phrases and to borrow from countless writing teachers, preferred to tell me rather than show the story and characters. It felt unpolished, heavy handed and like it was relying heavily on every dime store romance novel the author had ever read. However, I pushed on because I had promised an honest review and that would require me to finish the story. That said, I'm glad that I did. While the first few chapters were a struggle for me, as a reader, the rest of the book flew right by. I found the character of Beth to be, at her core very likable. She felt like someone I could know, someone I would like to know in real life. Kent, the playboy male lead, was much less likable. His initial behavior was abhorrent, making me wonder how or why Beth would even want his company or really, why a person like Kent would seek out Beth. I supposed that Beth was lonely, in need of company and that Kent was bored. Reading the story of their friendship was rewarding. Kent became a much more three dimensional person. His change of heart and behavior read like a genuine coming of age, a real growth of maturity rather than the lightening strike maturity that we, readers of romantic fiction, are often expected to believe. I honestly appreciated that the author made an effort to make Kent's actions and motivations believable and realistic and I felt, as the reader, that she succeeded. I hope that this writer continues to polish her craft and trusts enough in her story telling ability enough to find her own voice right from chapter one because I would gladly read her work again.
I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review - Marry Me For Money was a fun, quick read. The story is about Beth, a small town girl who landed a great job in Chicago right of of college. She left behind her life with dreams of a fresh start. After being abandoned by her mother when she was 6, Beth was raised by her Nana. Her mother returned when she was 18 long enough to open a bunch of credit cards in Beth's name and ruin her credit as soon as she had it. Almost immediately Beth meets Kent, play boy living off his families money, and while he is not the kind of guy she would ever date (even though he is gorgeous) he becomes the perfect fill in for her best friend/cousin back home. Just as quickly, Beth meets Brian - a fellow employee of One Financial. He immediately shows interest and while she tries to resist dating a fellow employee, it doesn't last long and her relationship with Mr. Perfect begins. Things seem to be going great until Kent realizes he will lose his trust fund if he is not married by his 25th birthday which is right around the corner. Beth helps her best friend in all aspects of his life, while trying to keep her relationship with Brian. There was some unnecessary drama (in my opinion)and I felt that readers didn't really get deep enough into Beth's relationship with Brian to feel the full affect of the love triangle and the difficulty Beth was going through. It could have used a little more depth but over all it was an enjoyable read.
First let me start by thanking the author for letting me read this book prior to its release!
So when i saw the cover i thought, 'this should be funny and entertaining'. The cover does not look like most with a hot half naked guy or even a girls face, but instead a bride looking worn down and it still seems almost funny right?!? So the title makes me think of that movie 'Can't buy me love' i know i am a sucker for the good ones! Now that i talked about the cover and title lets get the juice...
This book is about a woman named Bethany who landed the perfect job after college. She meets Kent, who is a playboy trust fund baby who will not grow up. He lives the carefree fast paced life and makes no apologies about it. She hates him and he loves the thrill of it. Is it possible to have a platonic friendship between a guy and a girl without feelings becoming envolved? So this duo decides to get married for money. Along the way the foundation on which they stand will be tested, will their friendship be able to handle it? Will their lie come crashing down on them? I loved this book, i was happy to see there will be another book and cannot wait to finish their story!!
Marry Me For Money is the debut novel of author, Mia Kayla. Judging the book by it's cover, it didn't look like something I was going to enjoy. It looked too lighthearted and cute. Well, as the old saying goes, "Never judge a book by it's cover." I loved this story. Everything about it. I gobbled it up in one sitting and now am going to stalk the author for her next release. Look out world, we've got an awesome new author on the horizon.
Bethany is a heroine that you will cheer for. She's strong, independent and determined to make a life for herself. She doesn't have a safety net that most people have, so she knows she has to work harder than most. Bethany comes from a small town and has her mind set on making it in the big city.
Enter Brian and Kent. Both good looking guys she meets through work. One is hard-working and everything Beth looks for in a man. One is spoiled, entitled and a walking STD. They both make their way into her life, both playing different roles.
Despite all she's done to get away from the small town she so desperately wanted to escape, her past finds her and hits her hard. She's offered a way out, but things never work out as planned.
This book was so much more than I expected it to be. While parts of it were light hearted and cute, at times it got very emotional. I laughed at the friendships that developed and then tears were streaming down my face when someone got hurt. I loved the roller coaster of emotions that this book put me on. Every time things were going smoothly in the story, you got hit in the face with a bat. I wasn't able to put this book down. I had to know how it was going to end. Sorry folks, I won't reveal what happens, you'll just have to find out for yourself!
Like I said, Mia Kayla is an author you will want to keep an eye out for. I really enjoyed her writing style and I cannot wait to see what other stories she has cooking in her head. As far as I'm concerned, she can't write fast enough. I'll be over here patiently waiting for her next release. And I'm not just saying that because she's a fellow Illinoisian!
This ARC was kindly provided in exchange for an honest review. I am struggling between 3 and 4 stars. I do like the story so, I would definately give 3 stars. But I also REALLY like Kent....so, I have given a whole star just for him. I felt that the author did an excellent job of making a complete ass turn into a pretty good guy in the end...
I'm not one to write lengthy reviews...mostly because I'm too scared of giving away spoilers. So, I'm going to try my best with this...
Beth---She was a smart, hard working, driven girl straight out of college. Beth didn't have the typical life and was trying to start over. Looking to escape a past that she was ashamed of and a family that disappointed her. She wanted the life and love that she'd seen in movies. She wanted the 'happily ever after' that she naively planned out in her head. The boy next door that was responsible, hard working, and showed her the love she sooo deeply craved.
Kent---SPOILED, Rich, and drop dead gorgeous...he had no friends, wasn't truly living his life, was content just going through the motions.
Kent walks into Beth's life and they become friends. Beth challenges Kent, doen't fall for the 'I'm rich and spoiled so you must fall at my feet' act that he was so use to all women doing.
I completely LOVED their friendship and the growth that I saw in Kent. I liked that he was able to open up to Beth.
Some of the plot is a bit blaaa, but the characters made up for it...I was invested in their story and wanted to see how it unfolded. There were really good parts to the book and I'm interested to see if there will ever be a part two.
It is quick sweet read. One that I would recommend!
So sweet!!, I started this book then stopped, then picked it up again, so glad I did, it was adorable, I loved the characters of Beth and Kent, Beth was hard working, loyal, sweet and funny, she loved her food and wanted her happily ever after movie ending. Then you have Kent, you should hate him, super arrogant playboy, doesn't work just coasts through life. But then Beth realises there's more underneath that polished exterior and dimples and she slowly brings the real Kent out. The banter between the characters was adorably funny, the exchanges between them were lovely to read and gave you the warm fuzzies. This is the first book I've read by this author and was a real treat, I'm going to check out her others now.
Let me just say, the book is as gorgeous as the cover. What a wonderful read! Beth, the heroine, is down to earth and relatable. I fell in love with her from the start. I don’t want to give to much away because I think it’s best to go in blind, but the hero of this story is sweet, sexy, lovable, and swoon worthy. Once I hit a certain point in this book, I couldn’t put it down. Hell or high water, I was finishing the rest in one sitting because I HAD to know what came next. I loved the build up, the longing, the ACHE! Seriously, one click this book. I loved it!
I loved how Kent and Beth's relationship started, and especially loved that Kent wasn't this typical perfect hero. He was spoiled and living off a trust fund instead of us being introduced to another wildly successful CEO. Honestly the first part of the book I was wondering if I read the description wrong because I was thinking there is no way Kent is our hero.
We actually got to witness Kent and Beth develop a genuine relationship instead of an insta love jump into bed situation.
Mia Kayla is the queen of angst. Wow. She took what could have been a predictable plot and knocked it right off its axis. She had me panting after Kent right along with Beth. A fantastic, well-written debut.
Dnf. Shallow, 2D characters who seem to spend all their time eating or partying. There is little character development and although we are told, frequently, how good or nice or friendly someone is, it isn't shown.
I loved this one. Total Amazon freebie gem. It has a really believable transformation of a selfish jerk to a dedicated friend-turned-lover. Also, there's a pretty nice grovel.
What a different take on marriage or convenience. There was a slow build but I like how their love blind sided them. It was a true friendship that just grew slowly. A lovely contemporary romance story. Friends to lovers.
